Guest Reviews
- Jana (3/5): Achtung!

Arrivederci.
- Antonia (7/5): Confused but had a great time - Got picked up at the ferry and could book a motorbike for 200 with full tank included. Best wishes to Vy from VyVys Homestay and thank you for helping us change rooms when the AC broke! For anyone as confused as we were: Bai Huong Homestay is more like an organisation that has many Homestays on the island and the room you book may be a lot different than what you get. In our case we were moved to the room we actually booked but it was abit of a hustle. Also we were confused about pricing. But all in all we had a great time.

- Marta (8/5): nice homestay, really boring island - nice room, comfortable bed, ac works good. house with rooms is ca. 20 mt behind the main house, which is directly on the beach. hosts are very friendly and help you with everything you need - you might need to repeat what you want/need many times, because they just forget, but all is all is ok. bathroom was smelling like sewage all the time.
it was annoying to come to dinner, sit down, order the food, wait half an hour, getting asked again what we want to eat, wait again, being asked again, and in the end getting our food 1.5h after we had sat down .. there were other people dining there, but it wasn‘t too crowded.
on the island there is literally nothing to do - you can go snorkeling, but we were very disappointed (few fish, mostly dead corals). most of the beaches are not accessible (only by boat if you are a local ..).
- Julia (10/5): - We had a great stay! We stayed at the sisters and her husbands house of the host. A very friendly older couple who welcomed us in their homes. The husband took us fishing early in the morning. We could really experience the life of the island. In the evening they organize the most amazing seafood bbq. Also, upon arrival on the island someone was waiting for us at the port with a scooter, everything was organized without us knowing!

- Manon (9/5): -
- Louisa (10/5): Friendly hosts and great place to stay! - We loved our one night stay here! The hosts were so friendly and welcoming and cooked us a delicious seafood feast in the evening! The room is in the village and was comfortable, very clean, with a nice outdoor seating area and the connecting restaurant is along the harbour front. We could rent snorkel masks from our host, we were greeted off the ferry with moped taxi service or moped rental and the host helped us book a return speed boat to Hanoi. Overall a brilliant stay for one night on Cham Island! Although the hosts were so helpful in getting us to their homestay with moped hire, some clear directions on how to find the homestay might have been even more helpful.

- Michal (10/5): - Best seafood ever
- Katarzyna (10/5): - Genialna lokalizacja, życie wśród lokalnej społeczności. Cudowna i pomocna wlascicielka homestay i mini sklepu: tam tho. Spaliśmy u niej nad sklepikiem. Polecamy!
- Jane Martha (7/5): There is a family run restaurant on the seafront every evening is a fresh seafood barbecue. The restaurant owner arrange - Accommodation on the island is simple. Bed was comfortable and room very clean. Our host was very warm, helpful and great with the kids.
- Juliette (10/5): Very nice relaxing stay in this fisherman villages, fun adventures, secret beaches and amazing food. - Great homestay and very nice host. The room is clean and comfortable, in a very cute fisherman’s village. Access to snorkelling and a beautiful wild beach if you are ready to go adventuring on rocks.
Amazing food, I recommend the seafood barbecue, one of my best seafood meal ever. Nothing to say, people are available and the place is great.
Rien
- Sona (9/5): - Lovely village where you can experience fishemen's life is located practically on the beach. Nice and helpful hosts who cooked amazing meals. Please, clean the rooms 🙏😊!

- Verified traveler (10/5): You shouldn't miss Mama Kim homestay!! - Mama Kim hosted us at her place as if we were from the family ! She has such a smiling face and so many nice attention that you forget about the language differences!
She cooks as a chef, and her location is just amazing if you want to mingle with local people.
We have also been on a fishing excursion organized by her, and it was so authentic. Such a pleasant moment !
I just regret that I couldn't stay longer !!
- Carine (6/5): Disappointment at first, happy in the end. - I had been in contact with Homestay Bai Huong prior to our arrival to advise them that we were making our own way to Cham Island with a diving company. I asked them if they could pick us up from the beach where the diving company was going to leave us. They confirmed all was OK and they would come and get us. Once at the beach, we waited for over an hour but no one turned up. Despite the language barrier, we managed to arrange a lift by boat with a local Vietnamese man. When we arrived at the village, a man confirmed he had received our email but he was not the owner of the place I had booked. I believe there was some confusion there and I might have emailed the wrong person. He took us to a place which was very basic and was not the place I had originally booked. I refused to stay there. So he found us another place to stay which belonged to the parents of the lady I had booked with. It still wasn't the place I had booked, as she (Kim) had given our rooms to someone else but it was clean, had air conditioning and the couple were doing their outmost to please us. In the end, we were happy with the accommodation. "Mama Kim" took great care of us, cooked us some wonderful food and was genuinely friendly and helpful, despite the language barrier. So I can't recommend the place we originally booked since we didn't stay there but I can highly recommend Island Smiles Homestay, which is where we stayed.
- Florian (10/5): BEST HOMESTAY ON CHAM ISLAND, HIGHLY RECOMMEND - Dear fellow travellers,
We spent two nights at Island Smiles Homestay and I have to say it was the best decision we have made while travelling Viet Nam.
Everything was incredibly well organised. Kim, the owner, contacted us two days before our arrival and she speaks very good english so it was very easy to communicate. Her mom, Bui, came to pick us up at the main ferry arrival in Bai Lang. Then we took a second boat to Bai Huong with Bui to go to the homestay.
We were delighted to be there. The house is very clean and new as well as the sheets, the bathroom is functional, and most important the food Bui cooked for us was incredibly delicious!
We really enjoyed ourself at this homestay, we felt at home. Bui is such a loving person, she took care of us very very well.
I would like to thank you Kim and Bui (also called "Mama Kim") for being so helpful during our stay on beautiful Cham island.
Lastly, I would recommend this homestay to everyone who is willing to learn about the real vietnamese culture and lifestyle.
Cheers,
Zoe and Florian
- mark (2/5): Misrepresented and not safe - read before you go - Overall really bad experience. Real safety questions that go to whether this place should be listed. The snorkel tour equipment was substandard (and there were no fins) and the owner was I believe inebriated in the tiny wood boat. Two other young women tried to get back into the boat but the owner was sleeping and the rope ladder broke. Extremely unsafe. Our room had no door on it and the owner and his wife were constantly coming in. My girlfriend was without clothes and the male owner came in and stared at her grinning until she yelled at him. The home stay was misrepresented in description. Basically, the descriptions are for an amalgamation of various home stays in this village. There is no balcony. The tv is also on loud. The electricity goes off at 10 pm in the village. There is a wonderful little Buddhist monastery in the village worth going to and speaking with the young monk. I did not expect even a two star place and was not expecting it. I have traveled in many third world countries - that is not the issue. The issue is safety and security. We booked for two nights but left after one night. Depending on how you get to the islands a number of the boats are unsafe.
