Guest Reviews
- PHILIPPE (10/5): - A
- Grigorios (8/5): - Overall I'd recommend this hotel to people. I'm going to list the pros and cons according to my experience (stayed 12 nights).
+ Friendly and helpful staff
+ Clean communal areas and good room cleaning
+ Car and bike parking is available
+ The restaurant has nice food and drink options for dinner, and the breakfast coffee was also of good quality
+ Nice garden area to relax, and pool was clean
- I remember when booking this hotel through Expedia, the room size was advertised as 18m2. Unfortunately in person it was much smaller, I would estimate it as a 12m2 room. I also found the wardrobe was on the smaller side.
- Some amenities that I thought were common, are missing. Specifically there's no mini fridge or kettle in the room, which is a shame as they would easily fit.
- The shuttle service is only during weekdays and limited in hours of service. Thus it's very likely that it won't work with your flight schedule.
- Ryszard (10/5): - Hard to get to but excellent small hotel with good food service.
- Jeremy (10/5): - RAS. Un des meilleurs hôtels du coin.
- Lynden (10/5): - Decent one night stay hotel in business park
Pleasant bar and restaurant
Good secure car park
- enrico (10/5): - Good business hotel close to geneva
On va retourner l’année prochaine
- Dilip (8/5): - This property is small limited options it is a great bed and breakfast place
- Kentaro (4/5): - There is no coin laundry nearby, and it can be challenging for long-term stays. The indoor space is comfortable, and there is enough desk space for work. The chair, shaped like a sofa, is not very comfortable to sit in. The internet is fast.
Compared to Ibis Budget, it is inconvenient for those who do not plan to use the restaurant because there are no vending machines or microwaves. However, even though it was stated that there is a shuttle bus and I made a reservation, I was told that there is no shuttle due to a malfunction. It seems like the shuttle has been out of order for years, and claiming to have a shuttle bus is close to a scam. In the end, I took a connecting bus to the airport.
- Rainer (8/5): - Good and clean hotel. Nice staff
- Carol (10/5): - Very quiet, clean and calm atmosphere.
- Iain (6/5): Average Hotel - There was building going on and out side my window there was scaffolding with cigarette butts.
Bed was not great and breakfast was average.
Staff were pleasant but the hotel is not in a convenient location to transport.
- Matthew (8/5): - Nice place.
- Harvey (10/5): An excellent place to stay when visiting CERN - A very welcoming, cost effective, modern hotel in a convenient location
- Jose Antonio (2/5): NO SHUTTLE - Stay away from this hotel. They show in their information that they have a free shuttle to the airport. The reality is that I paid more than 100€ because they did not have any. Even worse, when I called by phone asking they just hanged up and when I tried to call again they took the phone and did not speak AT ALL. Very disrespectful.
- Ravinder (4/5): - Liked: It was inexpensive.
Did not like:
The hotel is in France, no shuttle service during weekends.
We had to pay about $110 Euros to get to the hotel and back. Cab fares are higher during weekends.
Real budget hotel with no Air Conditioning and the windows are closed with alarms and cannot be opened.
The hotel does not mention that the shuttle service does not exists during weekends and there is no air conditioning.
I would not stay here again.
- Robert (4/5): No shuttles on Sundays. - When I booked, I was told there was a free shuttle to the airport. This was important since the hotel isn’t close to the airport. After checking in, I was told there was no shuttle on Sundays which completely defeated the purpose. I was told I could take a taxi for €60 or walk 15 minutes to a bus stop. Otherwise the room was clean and restaurant was good.
- Em_marie (10/5): - Not bad for just a few nights. Just like any other hotel. Parking is free on site. Staff were friendly and informative.
- DAVID (6/5): - No shuttle service from and to the airport on weekends
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent - Excellent hotel. Comfortable. Quiet. Large TV with an outlet nearby so it's easy to plug in a streaming stick. Nothing nearby so it's only convenient if you have a car.
Personnels agréables, a l'écoute, serviable
- WILLIAM (10/5): Ibis shuttle - first shuttle back to hotel is @5pm. The closest Ibis is by airport but the one we booked at much lower rate is actually about 15 min. from airport and in St. Genis Pouilly France
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely stay - Cosy. Good location near the nature reserve and tram into geneva. Good reception service. Friendly and always ready to help.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Medical cancelation - I had to cancel my trip due to a last minute medical emergency that would not allow me to fly (documented by my doctor). Because it was a non-refundable booking I was charged for the whole week, which is within their rights. But no consideration given for medical problems beyond my control. I will chose other accommodations for my future stays in the Geneva area and will avoid the ibis chain in other locations around Europe.
- Harvey (10/5): An excellent stay as usual - A comfortable stay, nice welcome and service, near to CERN
- Sabine (8/5): Very friendly waiter - Very friendly waiter when we had dinner! And very nice man( manager?) came to ask if we wanted to change room after seeing my comment on hotel.com( i had mentioned the noise of the motorway) but i said it was very kind of him but not necessary. Actually, the room was quiet during the night.Very nice dinner too!
We will definetely go back next year when we need to pick up/ drop our children from/to the airport on our ski holiday next year.
- sylere (8/5): - conveniently located near airport
very friendly staff
- Mary (6/5): Don't stay here unless you have a car - I only booked it because it claimed it had a "free shuttle" from Geneva airport. When I called the day I was arriving I was told there was no shuttle so I had to take a taxi in rush hour that cost 105 euros. Then when I arrived ad asked about the free shuttle, it doesn't start running until 7 am and I had to get to airport by 5:30 am so I had to take another taxi which charged 60 euros. So instead of saving money, staying at this hotel cost more than one closer to the airport. The hotel itself is nice and clean and comfortable and very quiet, but it ended up costing 115 plus the 165 euros for taxis. NOT a good deal. They need to put in more information about the shuttle or lack of shuttle. Hotels.com needs to make the hotel correct the information or at least provide the details about the bus.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - they promised to provide free shuttle to the airport. NOT HAPPENED.
They said location is 4.2 mil. from the GVA. NOT AT ALL. They are locate in France. You have to pay a lot of fees to go there from and in GVA.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet hotel. A very good night's sleep.
Friendly welcoming staff with good communication prior to my arrival.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet and easy access to CERN. Great access to highway and Geneva.
- PalmTree (8/5): Basic hotel but good value - We love this Ibis for its proximity to Geneva and the surrounding areas, for a great price. As a family of 5 we need 2 rooms and this Ibis has everything we need. The kids love a swim in the new pool after our long car journey, the breakfast and the steak hache, we enjoy an evening drink in the bar and the rooms work for us. It is obviously primarily a business hotel for CERN and the surrounding technology park and therefore it is not picturesque! But it’s convenient, clean and good value. The staff are very accommodating. However I would say that it was not quite as clean and friendly as our stay 2 years ago, but overall v good.
- Nina (8/5): 1 day - Nice and calme
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel, but not in Geneva, it was in FRANCE! - Decent hotel for those who has time and would like to be far away from the city and airport.
Misleading information on Orbitz website cost me additional $100 (to get taxi and drive from Ibis hotel in GVA to Ibis hotel in France). There are 5 different Ibis hotels in that area and only one has shuttle bus (the hotel which is in GVA).
Thanks
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, strange site - Do not be fooled by on-line listings that place this hotel in Geneva. It is actually in France, approximately 10 kilometers from the Geneva airport and 20 kilometers from downtown Geneva. There is no easy way to either, so taxi rides can be quite expensive. The hotel is a typical Ibis, but is situated in a techno-park with no other facilities, stores or restaurants nearby or within walking distance. But the staff is nice and the usual Ibis standards apply, so except for the location, this hotel is fine.
- Jonathan (8/5): Great value for money - This budget hotel has comfortable clean rooms, good breakfast.
Just 30 min drive from city center, parking space.
Great value for money when coming to Geneva by car.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel is fine. It is located in France, about 5-6 miles from the hotel.
Morning traffic was terrible. The hotel driver knew a secondary route
or we really would have been late and missed our flight.
- Jason (8/5): Central room temp control - We cant adjust room temp too hot
Food was great £9euro
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice to go to a hotel and know your experience will be very good. The staff actually had a map to help us find a gas station before dropping our car at the airport. Hint: buy gas in France.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Toooo far from everything - Most important they too far from airport taxi rides will be €50 it's not worth it
- Aish (10/5): - The hotel was good overall but my only problem I would say was the location of it. It was quite hard to find it from the bus stop in Malivert at first and also the distance it was from the main road in Saint Genis Pouilly. Yes, it is 10 minutes walk but if you don't know the area at first you will find it difficult, I think this should have been actually explained properly and clarified on the website. It is easy if you have a vehicle but by foot is another story. No complaints about the hotel itself and staff as they were brilliant but if I had known I would have chosen a hotel closer to Geneve town centre.
- Verified traveler (6/5): No tea or coffee in room - staff unhelpful - Room is very clean and very basic - no tea and coffee in the room but has a nice pool. Staff aren't helpful at all and everything is very very overpriced, one bottle of water 5euros.. the lunch menu is pretty awful and over priced. This hotel is for people who literally want to sleep/shower as everything else is either missing or poor. Has good internet connection and secured parking. Very comfortable bed and room is cleaned everyday.
- Neal (2/5): Avoid this hotel unless you have a car! - When booking the hotel, a shuttle service from the airport was offered. It transpires that no such service is available and you have to catch a service bus - try that at nearly midnight on a Sunday night! That resulted in a taxi fare of over 50 Euros. Avoid this hotel at all costs unless you have a car or are prepared to walk for 15 minutes from the nearest bus stop on a route which is very unclear. The hotel would not allow the booking to be changed or refunded even though it is supposedly part of the Ibis chain.
- chris (8/5): Amazing views - Bit of a drive up the mountain but was worth it for the stunning views . The Hotel is used as a Ski Lodge in the window and maybe could do with a slight refurb . Ate in the restaurant which was fine and had a lovely bottle of the Gamay which was locally produced . Would return if only for the views !
- Abhishek (10/5): Great stay - Very clean hotel. Big rooms and friendly staff. Food from the restaurant is great. Breakfast enough variety
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great staff, access to public transportation and great price
- E (10/5): Nice hotel easy access to Geneva (by car only) - This hotel offers no surprises. You pay for what you get. Although simple, everything works just fine. Staff is helpful and friendly. The location will be tricky if you do not have a car however, if you do, it will take around 15 mins to get to Geneva. Price is also a good aspect of this hotel (when compared to staying somewhere in Geneva itself).
- Richard (6/5): Convenient for CERN, but noisy - The room was noisy due to road. The desk was located with a window behind, which is terrible for laptop. The chair was too narrow. There was no carpet. The wifi was good, the staff good, the restaurant was OK/good.
- PJ (8/5): Good price for a close to airport hotel - Don't expect much however great decor, clean and very simple room.great price for a night stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good value in every sense - Excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - Really good place if you're using the Geneva airport. Great staff, modern clean rooms, and a nice restaurant downstairs. The hotel is in France about 15 min from GVA
- SimonP (10/5): Great stopover hotel for Geneva airport. - First impressions were that the location of the hotel inside a business park is far from romantic, however this was more than made up for by the quality once inside and the excellent service from the staff. Facilities are excellent with a comfy bed and a clean well equipped bathroom in the room, and with a restaurant and other facilities in the main area.
The staff deserve a special mention however as they made it perfect - they were all courteous, helpful and more than willing to put up with my awful French which i am trying to improve, helping me with words when I struggled (this is not normal - usually get one tense wrong and it's straight to speaking English just to get rid of you).
This is probably not a hotel to plan a family vacation from due to the location on a business park but if you are on business, passing through or want a hotel convenient to the airport (15 mins to the French side) as I was, its perfect. I will definitely use again.
- Harvey B (10/5): A convenient, high quality, budget-friendly hotel - Great restaurant and service for the price. Very attentive and caring staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Hotel. Wrong Country - This hotel is NOT in Geneva it's across the border in France. The unexpected travelling not withstanding it IS a lovely hotel. However it's in the middle of an industrial estate and there is nothing round there. It definitely wouldn't be suitable for families. If you've got business in the area it's great. Otherwise a definite no.
- barbara (8/5): really nice once you're inside... - very friendly staff, but located on the technoparc. you need a car.
- Linda (8/5): Convenient to hotel - The hotel is in an industrial park about 15 minutes from the Geneva airport. It offers a dinner service which is quite convenient. Breakfast is adequate. The staff are friendly & helpful. We were given a non-smoking romm (clearly marked) but upon entering the smell of smoke was overwhelming. We were given another room. Rooms are small, as expected, but comfortable & clean. Great spot for coming or going to the Geneva airport.
- jacques (10/5): Nice hotel not too far from GVA airport. - Very friendly staff at restaurant and reception. Good place to stay before a flight out of GVA airport, but allow 30 minutes for slow traffic.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel good, bad location ! - Hotel was good, but nothing to do in the area. The main issue we had was the reservation showed a Switzerland hotel address, but the hotel is actually in France, which caused big issues in crossing the border.
- EMM (8/5): - Stayed here in July 2016. Nice clean hotel with good staff. Good value, book online for best deals.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Beware of location - inconvenient to Geneva airpor - I booked this hotel during a long layover at Geneva airport to spend a few hours between flights. The hotel is very basic but fine. However beware that it is very isolated in an industrial park, and not very close to Geneva airport. The advertised shuttles were not available at time of transport. It was an expensive taxi ride of 25 minutes (35 swiss francs) to get there, and a difficult 20 minute walk with luggage + 1 hour by bus to return. Make sure you have your own transport or that the shuttle is running at the time of your planned transfer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would definitely come back. - I stayed there for one week on because the hotel is very close to CERN. Overall it was a pretty good value. The local streets can be a bit confusing, though. Both my car GPS and google maps indicated some local streets that should get you to St. Genis directly. I was looking for these to get around the heavy traffic on the divided highway during rush hour, but they do not exist. The only access to the Ibis is via the highway, so you have to contend with the traffic. I was also worried that the proximity to the highway would cause some issues with noise, but it turns out that this was not the case. My room was very well insulated against noise. If you keep the window close, you will barely be able hear it. The free wifi is ok for reading email, but not so much for streaming content. There is an option for fast wifi with a daily payment, but I didn't try that. The restaurant serves a good breakfast buffet and has a good selection for dinner including beers on tap. There is unlimited coffee from a professional espresso machine in the lobby! I just wish they had also a small coffee maker in the room as well for that first coffee in the morning to get you going. The room is smallish but clean and well kept with a nice HDTV mounted on the wall. The ventilator in my bathroom didn't come on which made for some lingering humidity in there, but it wasn't a big deal. Overall I can certainly recommend the Ibis and will definitely consider staying there again on any future trips.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice enough hotel but not near the airport - Very isolated and is not very convenient. I had to pay for a taxi to reach the hotel 35francs and then because my flight was early in the morning the first shuttle was not running until after 6am so another 50francs for another taxi. Then when I arrived they charged a city tax but as it is in France would not accept Swiss francs in change, only Euros so had to change some franc notes to Euro just because they would not accept Swiss franc coins.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - we book this hotel as 'close' to Geneva. it took more than 45 min and approx 80 Euro of taxi to come in Geneva center. at arrival, we ask for taxi at 8:00 h, he never show... next one came 25 min later... check-out is way too slow... need serious improvement in generally quite nice stuff...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was clean, staff was very pleasant and helpful. Location was ideal to go into Geneva at a very reasonable price.
- Hazel (10/5): nice new hotel - nice new hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Too far from anywhere - The hotel itself is a standard enough property but although I was led to believe that it was close to Geneva airport it actually turned out to be quite far and it cost a bomb to reach by taxi. Going to the city wasn't easy either . I would not recommend it to travellers without cars .
- Verified traveler (4/5): One night - Very rude night staff. Hotel is also in France but was listed as being a part of Geneva.
- Marton (10/5): Nice, will come again - Pro: Very nice stay, modern and clean facilities. I could even connect my USB stick to the room TV and it played my series (.mkv files) without any problem.
Con: There is a hotel shuttle between CERN and the airport that goes around 8 times a day. Given that the hotel is in the middle of a Technopark, without even a walkway to go anywhere on foot, this shuttle should be free (it's currently 7.5 euros for the 5-10 minute ride)
- mark & denise (10/5): Great base to visit either France or Switzerland - This ibis is very modern and very clean at all times. Two members of staff went out of there way to help us enjoy are weeks stay here. Value for money room rates makes this great for visiting the more expensive switzerland which is only 5mins away as the hotel is actually in france.
- Erika (10/5): A good hotel to stay in. - A hotel with lovely friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed the food. Good eco ethos as well. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Had a great night's sleep as the beds were comfortable. A bit short on space around the twin beds.
- john (8/5): Can't fault it - We stayed here on a trip to CERN, and it was very convenient. Nice hotel, good breakfast, helpful staff, who recommended the tram into central Geneva rather than driving - a very good tip. The breakfast was good, and my 14 year old son made the most of it...
- Debbie A (8/5): Close to CERN with Free Shuttle - Overnight stay for myself and 4 colleagues. The hotel is a modular 2 story building. Its on the edge of an industrial estate. Staff friendly and helpful. Free shuttle service to CERN and the airport. Grill service for dinner was good. Dined outside on a patio area which was enjoyable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Dinky little hotel. Lovely people and very friendly. And clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Satisfied, would come again - We made a mistake at our booking but the staff was very nice to correct it. Overall quite satisfied. (Room for improvement: there were no vegetables at the buffet breakfast.)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Too Far From Geneva Town Centre - This hotel is located just over the Swiss Border in France. You require a taxi to get to Geneva town centre which takes 15-45 minutes depending on traffic. Or you take a 5 minute taxi to the nearest Tram station which is called Cern. It then takes 23 minutes to the centre. The airport is 15-45 minute taxi ride depending on traffic.
The hotel is clean and tidy. The staff are fairly accommodating to your needs. Most of the staff speak good English. Breakfast is continental style with no hot food available. Free wifi is available in all rooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): One of nearest hotels to CERN - New and clean. A room on the ground floor is a bit noisy due to the bar in the lobby. The road to the hotel (from CERN) is not good (but maybe acceptable) for bike.
- Justin P (8/5): Good Hotel - A good Ibis. Only downside was some noise in the morning from the above room and the rooms are quite small. Ideal location for entry into Switzerland.
- louise (8/5): a good stay - Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting family. Although you need a car to stay here, as it really is out of town, it's ideal if you don't intend to spend too much time in the hotel. The rooms are adequate, clean, comfy beds etc. And are well priced. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. This is my 2nd visit and I would stay again.
- Andrey (8/5): Excellent price; need a car for this location - Overall, a nice new Ibis. Close to CERN, about 15 mins drive to Geneva. Excellent value for money. Please beware that there's literally nothing within a walking distance, but easy to get around with a car. Breakfast just ok. Bar - so-so... If you are driving and willing to stay for low dollars - that's your choice.
