Guest Reviews
- lisarE2489LG (2/5): Fleas in Villa - We discovered that our Villa had fleas. We infomed the Villa person at the Weston and they said that they would change us to another Villa. We were informed that the Villas did not allow animals and that we must have brought them back from the beach. Orkin would tell them what kind of fleas they were. Then we got a phone call that we would be charged extra to have the next villa cleaned. In all my 30 years of both living in HHI and staying there, I never had problems with fleas from the beach. These looked like fleas we had when we had cats. (we have no animals) . There was no waying of knowing if people brought animals into the Villas. (We had only walked the beach twice). I was livid and we decided to leave and shorten our vacation. Never will stay there or the Weston. The Weston allows animals. (over $600.00 a night to listen to dogs bark all day and night. Crazy)
- Patrick (10/5): - The property and surrounding areas looked old and run down. The road leading up to our unit were in much needed repairs. The porch and deck needed painting. The inside was nice and in good condition.
- Vitaliy (4/5): - My reservation was not in the system, took the front desk staff about 30 minutes to find my reservation.
- Florence (8/5): Lovely town house - The villa was very nice. A little far from the beach and it was necessary to drive to tennis and golf. Check in was terrible. It took at least 15 minutes to locate our reservation, the clerk said that we'd be charged $230, for cleaning ( which i disputed)and no one from management ever returned my calls.
- joan (10/5): - Nice spacious apartment, perfect for our group.
- Melanie (10/5): - It was perfect for our needs. Check-in was super easy!
- Debra (10/5): - Great clean 2 bdrm condo with pool nearby and shuttle to beach. Check in at Westin quick and efficient.
- Jimmy (6/5): - Lost reservation didn’t get checked in until 530 with 4 grandkids and then I went back to desk to check in they said I was texted room ready and I didn’t they had the wrong phone number over all check in was terrible
- Amanda (10/5): - The property was actually a 3 bedroom even though the reservation said 2 bedroom. Having access to the Westin pool was very nice.
- Karla (8/5): - Spacious and comfortable for a family gathering.
- Rebekah (10/5): - I loved every aspect of this property and hope to come back! The wildlife was exciting and the scenery around our unit was beautiful. It was also very peaceful.
- techteacher54 (8/5): Nice Quiet Resort - This was our 3rd stay at Ocean Palms. We rented this time. Prior to this, we had stayed on a time share exchange. There were 3 of us and the rest of our family stayed next door at another resort. Check in was quick and easy, although, when my husband asked what the resort fee covered, the clerk did not know. She did not inform us that two charges would show on our bank statement immediately, $125 and $75 for “authorization.” These were pending and dropped off several days later. The resort fee allows you to use the Westin Hotel pools and loungers at the pool, as well as charge food, drinks and services to your room. It does not allow you to park at the hotel. You must take the shuttle. The hotel and beach are exactly a half mile away. When we went to the beach, we preferred to drive with our beach gear, so we parked in the public metered lot at Islanders Beach. We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath. The condo was very clean and well stocked and beds were very comfortable. It does need updating. Furniture is very dated as well as appliances. Appliances are in good working order, just a bit dated. Bathrooms were large and very nice. We did use the Westin spa and it is exceptional. We had breakfast two mornings, which were also really good. We tried to go to View 32 one evening but they could not accommodate our group of 9. The only real concern for us was not being able to park at the hotel since we like to bring our own chairs, umbrella and cooler to the beach. We would stay again because we like the location and we love Westin Hotel. However, since we had to use public parking for the beach and we didn’t use the shuttle or swimming pools at the Westin, we could basically go to eat and book to use the spa while staying at any other neighboring resort, which may be an option for us next visit.
- Racquel (8/5): - I booked this for my daughter and son in law. They had a wonderful stay.

There were 3 of us and the rest of our family stayed next door at another resort. Check in was quick and easy, although, when my husband asked what the resort fee covered, the clerk did not know. She did not inform us that two charges, which were pending and never cleared, would show on our bank statement. $125 and $75 for “authorization.” The resort fee allows you to use the Westin Hotel pools and loungers at the pool, as well as charge food, drinks and services to your room. - Grey (10/5): - Clean and large rooms
- mary (10/5): Will book again. - Fabulous location. Great condo and be able to use hotel facilities was a real asset.
- Greg S. (10/5): Loved it and would go back in a minute! - It’s a great unit in a wonderful location we would definitely go back again. Availability of the Westin hotel was a big advantage to us.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Huge living space! Excellent amenities A
- kelly (10/5): - Great Resort. Quiet, close to the beach and Westin facilities. Living room furniture could use updating and mold in shower grout could use some help.
But, we loved our stay and will return.
- Stephen D. (10/5): Clean unit and great location - We stayed at the Ocean Palms Villa in Port Royal. The unit was clean and and the bathrooms were recently renovated. We were able to check in early which was nice. The unit location was fantastic as it was close to a smaller pool and the beach access was five minute walk but still secluded and quiet. The decor of the unit is a bit outdated and could be updated but it was fine as we didn’t spend much time in the unit. The kitchen could also be outfitted better with utensils - example being there was no spatula. Also the deck outback could use a power washing and fresh coat of paint. Overall we would definitely stay again.
- Joan R. (10/5): Great five days. Place accommodated all of our needs. Very clean. - VRBO great and easy!!
- Lisa M. (8/5): Spacious comfortable space - We enjoyed our visit to Ocean Palms. The condo is spacious and very comfortable. It is about a 10 minute walk to the beach. The whole check in/communication with management part is the reason I can't rate this stay any higher. I tried to call several times to talk with the management about adding a day on the front end of our visit and could never reach anyone. On the day before check in (the extra day I wanted to add), about 3 PM, I had a call from someone at Ocean Palms saying we could add on the extra day. Of course, at that point it was too late. We stayed in a local hotel. There were NO advance check in instructions. Fortunately I had read other review that stated that the process was confusing and that you had to go to the Westin to check in. The person working in the office was very efficient. Upon check in you are charged $300 for incidentals at the Westin. We didn't even go to the Westin. At all. We were told we had privileges but not given any written information. There wasn't even any instructions about how to get to the beach. All in all it was a good stay, very comfortable place, but the information about check in and contact with managers was very poor.
- Neil S. (4/5): No communication/Suprise Charges - 1. Zero communication from property owner about check in process, it took going through reviews to figure out what to do. If you're staying here, you have to check in at the main Westin Hotel in a small office near the SPA.
2. Be ready for a large surprise resort deposit, just incase you charge anything on the resort even if you're not using any amenities. This is listed in the property description.
3. The back door is not secure, it leads to a public space near the pool. We wouldn't have known if we didn't pull on the door before we went to bed. We slammed it hard, still would latch. We had to set furniture in front of it to secure it then worry about it all night.
4. Over 24 hours later, we still haven't heard from the property owner after two emails.
Having the surprise deposit for a resort we weren't using and having to worry all night about a door wasn't the best experience combined with zero communication on a check in process
- Archie (10/5): Classy - Amazimgly peaceful. We wanted to destress for our 32nd Anniversary. Rhese Villas provided the cleanliness, spaciousness, safety, comfort and ease access to local dining, shoppimg, recreation and relaxariin we were craving! We will definitely visit again
- Fred J. (8/5): Golf Trip to Hilton Head Island, SC - The location of the Ocean Palms is excellent and the prices are acceptable. The Westin Management is excellent and were very responsive to our needs. Having the Golf included (for cart fee only) at four different courses was outstanding. The downside- the Bldg's themselves are in need of renovations. We had to call maintenance because the bathroom drains (sinks and tubs) were not draining properly and the shower curtain in the 2nd bath fell down and we were not able to get it back up. The tub was rusted in the 2nd bath. The baths are very dated--the furnishings are very dated and although the kitchen appears to have been updated (cabinets and counters) the Stove, Fridge, Dishwasher are ancient. The unit was clean. The back porch was dirty and the paint was peeling. They never came around to blow the leaves off either--we would not ever use the porch. All in all, we would likely return to Ocean Palms if we could find a unit which had some upgrades.
- KatyJones5272 (8/5): Ocean Palms Resort at Westin - This is one of the nicer resorts available through RCI. A great location near the beach with trolley service to the beach and amentities at the Westin Resort avilable also. Only issue was the party renting above us had children who were very noisy.
- Melissa W. (10/5): Girl trip - Everything was perfect . Pool across from the village . And Westin pool is awesome.
- Cassandra M. (10/5): Condo - My stay was great 🙂
- michaelhF4818RY (10/5): Excellent Resort! - I spent two weeks at the Ocean Palms and couldn’t have been happier! The property was immaculately clean and kept. The location was excellent, just a short walk to the beach and access to the Westin Resort next door. The villa was very big and had great amenities. Luce at the checkin desk was great! She was a huge help with anything I needed, recommendations, extra supplies, etc! I would definitely stay at the Ocean Palms again and would highly recommend it to friends and family!
- Traveldr0 (10/5): Beach Break - Great Resort affiliated with Westin ... Accomodations were outstanding and golf was excellent. Resort had tennis and pickle ball and biking also. Food at the golf course restaurant and in pool area were excellent also. Fabulous Takeout Easter Dinner of Prime Rib and great sides like roasted potatoes brussel sprouts and caesar salad with key lime pie or cheesecake for dessert.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I was not there long and was not able to take advantage of any of the aminities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location w access to Westin amenities & pools & beach. Free tennis or golf each day for hour. Very relaxing. Short drive to restaurants & shopping. Didn’t cook one day! Prices very reasonable considering I had two teens. Very friendly staff. We were in 3 bed/3 bath duplex up. Very large. Smart TV for Netflix nice. Peaceful view of lagoon & golf course. Never heard anyone in other units.
- Kelly R. (6/5): Large villa. Hidden resort fees. - The resort is picture perfect. The villa is very large. It’s dated, but fine. Bathroom could have been cleaned better, dark hairs on the floor. Ick. One roach bug. Ick. But, otherwise it was clean. My issue was an even extra charge per day. After paying an exorbitant amount for their set extra fees that included cleaning and management. We were fine with those extra costs. I suppose that was on top of the rather pricey per night rental, we were advised of additional resort fees we would be billed per day. There was zero mention of these extra fees in VRBO. Also, if you have questions about the rental, the number provided, could not answer questions when we called and told us we did not actually have a reservation. The process is very disjointed. Doubt we would stay again.
- Monique J. (8/5): Relaxing, spacious villa - A beautiful villa within Westin Resort. Check in was difficult as there was a line and only one person at the Villa check in. We enjoyed the Westin pool and beach access.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely and well equipped villa. Great to have the hotel amenities, also!!
- Scott (10/5): - We loved our Villa. We are a family of 6 and had more than enough room for all of us. It felt so much like home that my wife is already planning our next trip there. We really don't have any complaints.
- upsetmama46032 (8/5): Wonderful Relaxing Stay - We couldn't have been more pleased with the resort. The accommodations were very nice. Unit was well equipped. Our unit was steps away from one of the pools and the lagoon, (yes, there are alligators in it) and had a nice screened in porch. It would have been nice to have pool towels provided. Very impressed with the outside maintenance team in keeping the grounds beautiful and clean, including the grills. The shuttles were frequent and very prompt. Beds and pillows comfy. A few more room amenities, such as a couple more laundry packets, since you have to use your bathroom towels for pool, would have been nice and a few more dishwasher tabs. If you have a first floor unit and have people above you, the walls are very thin and that is a little annoying. It was great having access to the Westin hotel and amenities too. The hotel, grounds, and pools were beautiful. Nice variety of restaurants. The gentlemen running the valet service were great and very helpful with my handicapped mother.. We were disappointed with the concierge at the Westin. She might have been having a bad day, or just didn't like the older crowd, but had I not done some research on the area before talking to her, she really wasn't very helpful at all. If I hadn't asked specific questions about things I had read, we would have walked away knowing nothing more than when we stopped to speak with her. All in all, my family loved the Ocean Palms Resort and said it was one of the nicer ones we had been too.
- Lori S. (10/5): Very nice location great! - We were able to stay a few extra days by booking here. Unit was very nice, clean and location great. My only comment would be shower door needs changed in one bathroom trouble opening and closing. Great stay would definitely come back.
- BrookeO (8/5): Great deal with full Westin amenities - Stayed here for a week and spent our days at the Westin. Best of both worlds with a full sized condo with plenty of space to spread out, laundry facilities, screened porch, full kitchen, and same price as a single garden room at the Westin. Shuttle is super quick and at your service, or its a 12 min walk to the westin. Beach is clean and lots of lifeguards. Food at the pool was ok, drinks were good and great service but expensive as expected at a resort. The pool area was fabulous. Condo was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. If you're doing much cooking though you may want to bring measuring cups/spoons, and there was no baking sheet. I've seen much better equipped condo kitchens. Coffee maker quit working after a few days. was stocked with plenty of toilet paper and trash bags, a nice surprise! We stayed in #807
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Having access to the Westin amenities was great. However the Westin did close the gym in the middle of the day for a few days for refurbish
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Could not find our reservations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Unclear regarding use of Weston amenities ie how to use gym if not given key card, towels etc. Wi-Fi password.
- Lucinda (8/5): - The villa was lovely but i woulfnt call it a resort.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ocean Palms is a great place to stay. The villa's are spacious, comfortable and well decorated. With the use of the golf courses, tennis courts and amenities at the Westin Report and closeness to the beach, it is perfect for groups, couples and families.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We liked the property but disliked checking in at a different location - which was slow due to a wait. Many amenities at our check-in site but only a pool and grill at our location.
- billy (10/5): Great getaway - Very spacious and well equipped villa. Enjoyed the use of the Westin shuttle and facilities.
- Curious608198 (10/5): close to beach - Very well maintained condos with all Westin Resort amenities included as well as free golf. Must pay cart fee only. 10 minute walk to beach or take Westin shuttle bus. Sure beats paying for a small hotel room.
- swell30 (10/5): Fantastic resort - This is our go-to resort due to proximity to ocean, access to full kitchen and space for boogie boards, etc to be stored. For the price of a nice hotel room, you can have separate rooms, a nice deck and still spend your days at the Westin Pool/beach area
- zanzig (10/5): Wow we didnt want to leave. - We stayed in building one. Walk out the back door and into the hot was awesome. Place was furnished with quality furniture, dish and electronics. High recomend this place. Felt very comfortable here. Away for everything but also not far. Very quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like that property and the convenience to my conference. I did not like the check in experience. They did not have my reservation under my name. It took a
- ruthk125 (10/5): HHI vacation - Loved the week that we spent here. We had access to Westin’s amenities and we even had shuttle service if you desired to the hotel. The unit was clean and well equipped. The beach is within walking distance and we were able to bike comfortably everywhere
- Rob S. (10/5): Great Unit! - The unit was spacious, very up to date and nicely cooled. The shuttle to the Westin was nice.
- David (10/5): Nice Place for the Value - I had no idea when we booked the room that we were staying at the Westin Resort. So, in addition to the great villa away from the hotel, we had all of the amenities of a resort .34 mile bike ride away.
We enjoyed the restaurants, the multiple pools and the ocean for hours each day. When we were finished, we would head back to the villa, shower up and head out to dinner. The villa had plenty of space for our family of 5, the furniture and decor were great and the local pool was a nice touch.
There were a few issues with the villa that could have made for a better experience- the master bed had a literal whole in the left side (as though the springs were pulled out) , we could never get the 3 TVs to work, the dishwasher was crazy loud and there was no ice machine in the freezer.
None of those things were show stoppers, but they could have made for better experience.
- Richard P. (10/5): Comfortable, spacious. - Interior was a bit dated in bathrooms but very clean, with a beautiful floorplan and very nice use of space. Very private and a nice deck for sitting.
- drdoc60 (8/5): Comfortable - This was the first time my family and I stayed at Ocean Palms, we had #106 which is a three bedroom three bathroom condo. The condo office at the Westin was closed when we arrived at 6:30 pm. The gentleman at the Westin front desk was very helping in checking us in.
The furnishing in the condo are up to date with large flat screen TV's in the family room and in each of the bedrooms. Two of the rooms have king sized beds while one room had two twin beds. The kitchen was spacious and had a pantry which had adequate storage for the food stuff we brought. We cooked most of our meals. However the cooking utensils were only adequate to get the job done. There is a balcony in the back overlooking a small wooded area and creek. We used the gas grill once to make dinner. There is a pool with a hot tub next to the building. My two sons who are in the 20's enjoyed sitting on the balcony flying their drones around the wooded area. They also took advantage of the included golf. However they had to rent a golf cart since only members were allowed to walk. There are complimentary shuttles to take you to the beach, to the golf club and the Westin. The shuttle arrived within minutes after my son called for a ride to the golf club.
The condo has high speed wi-fi. Unfortunately this is open wi-fi and not password protected. I could see all the open wi-fi for each of the condos in the building. I would recommend having a VPN or using your cellphone as a hotspot when logging into sensitive sites.
Overall we had a good vacation and would return.
There condo was roomy enough for the seven of us without feeling like we were "walking over each other". However it is aggravating that there is a cleaning fee of $217.
- Mrob57896 (2/5): Mrs - Horrible Check in policy. The language clearly states Check In after 4:00 pm and here I sit at 4:44 with the condo still not ready. The hospitality clerk, Nikki, states the “policy” is written that Check In is anytime after 4:00pm and I could potentially be waiting until midnight. Do NOT go here if you want to be able to check in at the stated time. I will never come back here especially when there are so many other places that would surely appreciate our business here in Hilton Head.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 124 Ocean View Villa - Overall experience was great! very nice property and spacious villa; check-in/out was super easy, always felt very safe. Experience through Travelocity was easy and will be doing again!
- AmethystGreenEyes (10/5): Fabulous Family Vacation - We stayed at the Ocean Villas, Unit 406 for the week of June 3 -10,2018. The Villa was immaculate, spacious and conveniently located near the Westin, where we enjoyed all the amenities - pool, beach, Cabanas and entertainment. Our rental included golf and tennis access and we could not have had a better family vacation. 3 Rounds of golf, tennis, strolls on the beach, riding bikes on the trails and plenty of pool time rounded out a fun week. The staff at the Westin were polished, friendly, sometimes funny and professional.
With a 2 and 3 year old, we dined in most of the time. But, we did venture to Shelter Cove for face painting, other kid friendly activities and to hear Shannon Tanner, who is still putting on family concerts as he has for many years. If you are looking for a great family vacation spot, I highly recommend this location and unit great value and quality. We'll be back to Ocean Palms, Unit 406!
- Matthew P. (10/5): Spacious and beautiful home. - We enjoyed our stay here and will book again on our next trip to Hilton Head!
- mrblackhat2018 (2/5): Tremendously Disappointing - Three friends and I have taken golf vacations every year at various locations for the last 30 years. This was a very bad experience. Checked in OK. Got to villa and found a grounds-keeping truck and trailer pulled across and blocking most of the nearby parking spaces. Villa smelled bad. Beds in one bedroom had worst mattresses I've ever tried to sleep on. Management wouldn't change them. Villa carpet and other floors were dirty. Dishes looked like they had been put away after being rinsed but not washed. Two glasses were cracked. We cleaned up the place and left it in much better condition than we found it. Still got hit with an unexpected, almost $300.00, "housekeeping fee" a few days after we got home. Management wouldn't, or couldn't, provide any info on the reasons for the charge. Totally unacceptable experience. Highly recommend that you select another venue for your visit
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beach and golf getaway - It was our first trip to Hilton Head and we will be back! The 2 bedroom villa at Ocean Palms was spacious, clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. We had full use of the Westin facilities with complimentary golf and tennis included. The beach was very close by and lovely as well.
- nkdbrown613 (4/5): Robbed of Fun - My husband & I were enjoying our vacation at Ocean Palm Resort until I discovered my expensive locked bicycle had been stolen from the bike rack located near building 2. From that moment on we did not feel safe at the resort.
- TravelGirl4901 (2/5): Poor Customer Service - We checked in Sunday, October 29th. The 2 bedroom condo was quite nice. We had the TV in the living room loose it’s picture around 8:30 am on Tuesday morning. We reported it to Customer Service before 9:00 am. Some time before 10:00 am someone from maintenance came by and said yes there was a problem and they would replace it. Someone else came by within the next hour and said the same thing.
We waited around the condo all day and checked again around 4:30 pm and we were told that it may be tomorrow or the next day when we would receive the new TV. We spoke with several people, managers, etc and were then told it was after the time maintenance was here. We asked if they could bring a TV from another unit and replace it when the other came in or if we could change units. We were told NO on both. They said we could watch TV in the bedroom. We may as well have booked a cheap hotel room! I just had a total knee replacement several weeks ago and need to ice and elevate it. I promise sitting in a bedroom on a dining room chair is not conducive to healing.
- Gapeach58 (10/5): Outstanding Beach Resort - Nicki at check in is wonderful. She welcomes you, answers your questions and takes care of guests!! This is our fourth visit to this property and it never disappoints. Spacious room with fully stocked kitchen, Comfy Beds, Westin towels, and screened porch. Walk to beach and all amenities at Westin including pool.
Great location close to grocery and restaurants. Absolutely love this resort!!
- Kevin (10/5): Great value for money. - Overall I really enjoyed staying here and it was great value for money. The only problems were that the units were a bit dated (80's fabulous) and the checkin process was really weird. You have to go to a special desk at a nearby hotel to actually checkin. These are some nearby condos that the hotel apparently rents. Would be great for an inexpensive family trip to the area.
- RebeccaOSU (10/5): Free Golf and fabulous Villa - We vacationed here and loved it. Our unit was on the 2nd floor of building 9, screened in porch overlooking the pool area. Easy to watch our teenage grand daughters in the pool. All enjoyed the 4 free rounds of golf each day! WoW! The amenities of the Westin Hotel were fabulous as well. The beach and pool there are terrific, and all part of the rental of this beautiful fully furnished two bedroom condo. If you want to relax, swim, play golf or tennis this is the place. We hardly left the grounds...only to eat some great food on the island.
- croixc2017 (8/5): Very nice - Very nice place. Clean. Family oriented: kids (there was some noise above me, annoying). However, maybe earplugs were needed. Pool area nice, warm. The lodging was comfy accept for the noise. May not happen on your visit, you can go to a dollar store and buy those foam ear plugs just in case. Service people with check in efficient. Pool area at the Westin very nice. Beach rentals or chairs no umbrellas was for 9-5pm only otherwise bring your own stuff for beach area. I was a late riser so that was weird to me but again may not be an issue for early risers! I would stay again
- Travis Y. (10/5): Had a great time. Will definitely come back - Loved the place.
- David J. (10/5): The condo was a lot bigger than the pictures looked nice size 2/2 - We really enjoyed our stay it was very nice and clean I would suggest new frying pans one was extremely dirty with stuff someone had cooked dried and stuck in bottom and they other had all the coating coming off, I would throw in the trash because that's dangerous to cook in also the coffee pot only worked with the timer set which was inconvenient but other wise it was very clean and spacious for my family it doesn't say the unit is on 2nd floor so just FYI stairs we would definitely stay here again
- Jennifer C. (10/5): Beautiful property....open floor plan...lots of space. - Would love to stay here again. Prefect location and beautiful views.
