Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): - The innkeeper, Eileen, made every accommodation cleaning our room and preparing special meals. All meals were Irish based and very healthy.
Next time in the area, we will stay there again.
- Andrew (10/5): A pleasant stay - Excellent stay and a very friendly host. Would definitely stay again. Prices are very competitive for the area also!
10/10
- Colin (10/5): - Owner Eileen was a genuine caring host. Flexible with breakfast options and times. Left out coffee and sandwich etc for later/return. Service was above & beyond.
- David (10/5): - Eileen was absolutely wonderful could not do enough for us, excellent cook and the soda bread was epic. Room was tidy and clean very homely friendly atmosphere would definitely recommend and we will stay again in the near future.
- John (10/5): - I was allowed check in when it suited me which was handy. Great place to stay
- mrs l neligan (10/5): A little gem in the Emerald Isle - This place is a little Limerick gem and the proprietress, Eileen, couldn't do enough during our 5 night stay to give us a warm Irish welcome and leave us with an authentic experience of her homeland. The beautiful old country house is quaint and quirky, filled with ornaments, pictures and and array of memorabilia from Eileen's past and travels, sparking many interesting conversations. We enjoyed a joke and a giggle and Eileen has a wealth of information to share. Most of all, the breakfasts were delicious - a wide choice, nothing was too much trouble - locally sourced produce, freshly laid eggs, Griddle bread straight from the pan in minutes and jams made from fruit picked in Eileen's relative's garden - who could want more?! Our trip to Limerick was made all the better for staying at the Orchard - thank-you, Eileen.
- Stephanie (8/5): - Great central location for everything we wanted to do and see.
- Barrie (10/5): - eileen was the perfect host.
- Michelle (10/5): - Very hospitable host. She couldn't have been more helpful or thoughtful.
- Richard (10/5): - Our hostess was helpful and imaginative and made our stay interesting. A good base from which to explore this part of Co Limerick
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Gracious hostess.....recommended local pub Foleys; good eats.....WiFi good..... tv in room.....bed firmer than soft, a good sleep.however.....all linens/towels good/soft..... breakfast yummy......easy to park.....drove past once to find it; missed it by just one house.......
Musty smell in room, bedroom/bathroom need touch up: wall paper peeling at floorboard, paint cracking, shower needs caulking, low flow shower head. Evening shower warm to tepid; my husband did a sink bath as boiler not turned on.
- Gloria (10/5): Travels in Ireland - Great place to stay. I was in front so it was noisy from the road out front. I didn’t like that but other wise it was lovely

- Kevin (10/5): Fantastic place to stay. - A fantastic B & B, Eileen is the perfect hostess and the breakfast as as good as a 5 star hotel. Even choice of chicken or duck eggs as well as home made bread and 6 home made jams.. Offered cake and tea in the evening when we returned from dinner, at a place she recommended after asking the type of place we wanted. Room comfortable and offered everything and more than any hotel. Went on to a four star hotel for the rest of our stay and it was no better than the orchard.
- Laura (10/5): Wedding - We had a wedding in the hotel near by. When we arrived at the guest house the owner dropped us to the hotel which was fantastic as I was wearing high heels. She was extremely welcoming and we were well feed in the morning. Was a lovely stay.
- Q (10/5): - Eileen is the perfect hostess! She made us tea and we had fresh cake when we arrived. The room was clean and comfortable. Good internet. Eileen took our breakfast order and time we wanted to eat. We had made to order lovely omelettes with cheese and cherry tomatoes, toast, breads, fruits, yogurts, cereals, juice, and tea or coffee. Plenty to choose from. There were also 5 homemade jams - all delicious and made from local produce. Eileen made us very welcome and made sure we were well fed and well loooked after. She gave us directions and recommendations for dinner and relective vests to wear on the main road as we chose to walk into town (20 mins).
- Jim (10/5): wonderful host - Thanks for a wonderful stay - and a breakfast made so special with delicious home baked Irish Bread
- Maureen (10/5): Cozy bed and breakfast. - The Orchard is a quaint bed and breakfast located within walking distance to Newcastle West. The town has wonderful shops and the people are all very friendly. It is a wonderful, relaxing place.
- Liam (10/5): Touring Southwest Ireland - Eilene, the hostess was just wonderful. We arrived early in the afternoon after visiting a castle ruins in the pouring rain. We were soaking wet and she immediately offered to make us some warm tea and have some cake. Be sure to ask about her award winning Guinness cake! Everything about the stay was wonderful, the rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. Eilene, made a wonderful breakfast and was a wealth of knowledge on the local area. Showing her schoolteacher background she helped us in basic Gaelic and translated our names and other information so that we could better understand. She was a wonderful hostess and made you feel like you were at home or staying with good friends. All in all a delightful stay for the 3 of us. We will definitely stay again when we are back in the area.
- Michel (10/5): - Our first night in Ireland. Eileen was extremely informative ! She gave us snacks for the road! I would highly recommend a stop at The Orchard.
Our double room was clean, as was the bathroom.
- Tadhg (8/5): Traditional Irish Hospitality - The host, Ilene, was lovely and could not have been more welcoming and friendly. She offered anything I wanted for breakfast...which included fresh-made little "griddle breads"...along with a lesson on making them, as well as French-press coffee made on the spot, orange juice, fresh fruit, multiple breads, and home-made jams.
Inn was a short distance from Newcastle West, right next to a cattle farm...I could even hear cows"mooing" as I pulled into my parking spot.
Ilene offered advice on places to go and direction before I left. I hope I can stay here again someday.
Gracias
- Ann (10/5): The Orchard B&B in Newcastlewest, Co. Limerick - The Orchard's proprietress is a wonderful person who was quite helpful even before I arrived in Ireland.
The breakfasts were delicious! She prepares anything from sliced fruit, porridge to a full Irish breakfast. She even made gluten free cakes/ sweet breads that were quite tasty!!
The rooms were very clean with comfortable beds. It was surprisingly quiet even when there were other guests staying which made the experience even more pleasant
Good location, clean and comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts and an owner who is warm, friendly, extremely helpful and knowleable of the area. Eileen made my stay in Ireland an awesome one!! I'll be back :)
- Claudia (10/5): Herzliches B&B - Das Orchard ist für einen Roadtrip super gelegen. Daß Personal verströmt irische Gastlichkeit...man fühlt sich gleich wie daheim.:))
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful B&B with kind staff - Beautiful B&B with kind staff. Eileen was very friendly, explaint everything and shared details about her history and the village during breakfast. Clean room, nice and quite.
- Cécile (10/5): - Le tour de l île en 15 jours. Magnifique petite escale avec un accueil exceptionnel
- Verified traveler (10/5): Homely - Six different home made jams.
Comfortable beds.
Eileen showed my children how to make griddle bread
One of the most friendly hostesses I have ever met.
- Catherine (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay we were down at Feile and Eileen was fantastic she helped us out a lot with directions. Our breakfast was fresh and lovely from the home made bread and jam went down a real treat with our girls and as for the scones they were fab the hot bread Sunday morning was the nicest ever we may have over indulge,we will definitely call again if we are in the area
Thanks Eileen
- JKO (8/5): B&B that is worth the visit - The owner is charming and knowledgeable. The area is stellar and the room was clean, quiet and well worth the price.
Breakfast was good, nothing spectacular, but a very good start to the day.
- Susan (10/5): - The proprietor of this hotel is a lovely lady. She was very accommodating and cooked a wonderful breakfast. The hotel is very cute and comfortable. We stopped by on our way to the ring of Kerry and did not explore the area very much.
- Tim (8/5): Weekend stay - We came to visit family. Very friendly atmosphere with a good breakfast, and a very attentive host. Only thing I could criticise was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room (although to be fair, this was available in the lounge)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Authentic Irish Hospitality - I had to stay over night. I arrived late , I was welcomed by Eimer and offered tea on my arrival. Eileen who is her mother , who was not there checked to see if I arrived safely.
This is a proper Irish B&B , they are not trying to be 5* Hotel, but offer far more in terms of welcoming you into your home and looking after you. The accommodation is comfortable but they could not have been more thoughtful in checking that I was looked after. If you need a place to rest , you would struggle to find better.
- Amanda (10/5): Family Trip to Ireland - My family and I recently stayed 3 nights at The Orchard. My children, husband and I were treated like close friends or family. I can not speak highly enough of the kindness we received during our stay. The Orchard was a great starting point on our trips to the West coast and to the ring of Kerry. The town of New Castle was nice and we were close to Limerick. I recommend taking any unnamed roads your GPS might suggest for a great adventure! We stayed in the Family Suite, and the kids and parents enjoyed having our own beds! The breakfasts were delicious, come hungry.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - We stayed here for 3 nights, and had been driving such a lot. Kind landlady drive us into Newcastle West, 2 nights which was really kind of her and much appreciated. It was a 29 minute walk, which was acceptable if feeling energetic...
Home baking was excellent
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The landlady, Eileen, couldn't do enough to help make stay successful. A really lovely lady.
- Brendan (10/5): Great BnB in newcastle west - Stayed 5 nights. Eileen was absolutely wonderful. Helped us with local knowledge. Was pleasant with every aspect of our stay. Arrival, meals, chatting, check out. Associate Josie was wonderful also. I have no negativity to say about our stay
- Bruce (10/5): Wonderful B&B - Had a great stay. The hostess was very welcoming and informative. Would definitely stay there again. Great breakfast too.
- Lenka (10/5): Family hotel with a pleasant owner - I have just stayed in this hotel with my friend. The owner was a very nice person, the breakfast was very good, especially the egg omelet was just amazing, the room was cleaned, Tesco shop is close to this hotel and nature very nice. We liked this family hotel, I can recommend.
- adventurer (10/5): Friendly staff - The value is clear, wonderful breakfast and friendly staff. Eileen was on holiday but Josie took great care of us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming place with a delightful hostess. - Classic Irish B&B. Older home, but extremely well kept.
- Verified traveler (2/5): very disappointing - My first impression was not good- cobwebs on the doorbell. I didn't have a good feeling due to the shabbiness of the outside, but remained hopeful. The house was extremely dated and the decor was not tasteful at all. The carpet throughout was very dated and there was smell to it that really bothered me. The room itself was clean, just dated. The hostess was very nice, hospitable, and helpful. I can't say anything bad about her. But I was uncomfortable enough with the place that I told my husband I didn't want to stay. She told me we would be charged even if we didn't, and since that was not an option, we stayed reluctantly. What we paid was far too much for the value. Unless she does some major makeover she should lower the price significantly imho.
- Adrienne (8/5): Personal touch - booked on line night prior to arriving in Ireland only going on peoples reviews and never having stayed in a B&B before. As others said the warm welcome, cup of tea/coffee and homemade cake were there to greet me, also help in going somewhere to dine and sight seeing info, could only wish all B&B's were like this . The house is set back off the road, overlooks farm land and is quiet and quaint. Food was beautifully presented with home made preserves and bread, eggs (duck or hen), sausage, bacon along with porridge and a lot of the trimmings of a continental breakfast. I stayed two nights, slept well and enjoyed the company and being looked after, just wish it had been closer to Limerick but that was my fault for not checking. Still was pleased to have stayed even allowing for that as it felt like being at home rather than a hotel.
