- Danielle (10/5): Felt like a home away from home. - The entire staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. They learned my kids’ names and made sure everyone was happy and taken care of. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with lots of opportunities for bird watching. The hotel is just far enough away from the noise of downtown but close enough to have easy access to all restaurants, major highways etc.

- McMahon (8/5): - The pool was great. Those in our group that went to the on site restaurant for dinner enjoyed the meal. We got to watch tropical birds and iguanas from our poolside villa. Finding the place was an adventure. Google maps led us astray and we had a hard time finding the entrance.

Beautiful natural landscape Nice and clean pool Good breakfast Part of the windows are not covered by the curtains, then as soon as sunrise, it is too much light in the room. There was no water drain in the shower property, which was very slow and ended like a swimming pool.

- Thomas (6/5): - I didn't eat breakfast. It was a nice room. I had dinner and it was awful. The hamburger buns were stale and the two hamburgers were burnt to a crisp. It was inedible but the Manager did not charge me after she saw it.

Le jardin n'est est pas entretenu ,La nuit nous avons entendu des chiens et de la musique . Concernant le dîner, j ai demandé les fajitas sur le menu et j ai été servi que de poulet et riz sans fajitas . Le dessert un seul de disponible des fruits au sirop que nous n avons pas pû manger .

- Scott (4/5): Nice staff and nature, rundown facilities - Beautiful vegetation and birds throughout the property. The woman who checked us in was very nice. Our room was run down. Needs maintenance. No AC. Slept with the windows open which didn’t feel super safe. It would have been very easy for someone to break in. The gravel road going up to the room was very steep and it was scary to drive up it for my wife. Bathroom was really disgusting and I didn’t feel clean after showering. Very overpriced considering the state of the property. They need to reinvest in it and upgrade the rooms. Not at all worth $130 a night. More like a $80 a night place in my opinion.

Booking.com says all rooms have Air Conditioning. We were given a standard room with no AC and when we went back to the front desk they "upgraded" us for no additional charge.

- Stephanie (10/5): Tranquilidad y seguridad - El personal super atento. La limpieza del lugar super bien. Me gustó porque es un lugar muy seguro, viajé con un niño y un bebé y nos fue genial. Me gustó mucho que la piscina es grande y se encontraba muy limpia. Es bastante cerca del centro de Atenas. Llevar siempre repelente, Costa Rica es un lugar con mucha vegetación y es normal encontrar mosquitos y zancudos. Todo nos gustó.

Como não há um restaurante e o hotel está um pouco longe do centro da cidade, tínhamos que pedir comida todos os dias e eles estavam sempre dispostos a nos ajudar a fazer o pedido. É um lugar para aproveitar a natureza e descansar. Muito silencioso. O fato de não ter um restaurante ou uma vending machine. A piscina tem poucas cadeiras e as vezes não são suficientes quando há usuários externos ao hotel.

- Lorenz (10/5): Wir können diese Unterkunft nur wärmstens empfehlen und würden bei einem zukünftigen Aufenthalt immer wieder dort buchen - Endlich mal eine Unterkunft mit guter Beleuchtung im Zimmer und auch im Bett 🛌. Bett war groß und komfortabel. Kaffeemaschine und eine kleine Kaffee Begrüßungspackung. Dusche mit Warmwasser und WLAN funktionierten konstant gut. Prima gepflegtes Areal. Man kann kaum glauben, dass das alles vor 35 Jahren alles neu angepflanzt wurde. Zimmer inklusive Frühstück, für uns ausreichende Menge. Ohne Probleme gab es auf Nachfrage einen 2. Becher Kaffee für uns. Höchstwahrscheinlich hätten wir auch noch einen 3. Becher bekommen können. Da unser ✈️ Flug erst um 20 Uhr starten sollte konnten wir ohne Probleme bis 15 Uhr unser Zimmer behalten. Allerdings war die Anlage mitten in der Woche nicht ausgebucht. Mir fällt kaum etwas dazu ein. Als Verbesserungsvorschlag: wie in vielen Unterkünften, die wir besuchten, fehlten auch hier ein paar Haken an den Wänden, um mal etwas frei aufzuhängen.

- Yesenia (9/5): Pequeños puntos de mejora para ser perfecto. - Muy limpia la piscina y la habitación , tenía minirefri, platos , cucharas, vasos y minicofee maker. Liz nos atendió muy bien el primer día en la recepción y el siguiente en el desayuno. El desayuno estaba bien, el pinto rico y la fruta dulce . Es bastante cerca del centro de Atenas. El lugar donde se ubica es muy tranquilo. Sinceramente como solo fuimos de un día para otro pagamos habitación standar y a pesar de que son de block las paredes, están pegadas una de otra, y se escucha bastante el ruido de las de la par (tv, la alarma, ducha, cuando bajan el inodoro); no la recomendaría para adultos mayores o familias con niños muy bebes , porque sí están lejos del restaurant y la piscina, para ese tipo de personas las Villas son más caras de precio pero en definitivo se ven mejor. Dos pequeños detalles fáciles y baratos de mejorar: ya deben cambiar los dispensadores de jabón de manos ya que están bastante desgastados (ver foto) y en la ducha hay un dispensador que no dice de qué es -si jabón o shampoo-, no lo usé porque ví que tenía una mezcla de productos (2 colores), de igual forma yo llevaba mis productos personales, pero pienso que en el caso de un extranjero sí los necesitaría, tomen en cuenta que el supermercado más cercano está como a 1 km.

Temperatures were perfect, never had to use the A/C. Walking distance to downtown. This was a very minor thing, but some sidewalks had plants protruding into them. After a rain you get wet when bumping into the leaves.

- Devon (7/5): Lovely people, great stay in a pretty location - The staff went out of their way to accommodate us! Villas were very nice! Beautiful landscaping. Felt safe. Breakfast was amazing and generously served! Showers were hot with great water pressure. Hard to find via Google Maps. Took us to a road that doesn’t exist. Obviously no fault of the property :) Their restaurant was sadly closed the night we arrived so if you count on it, check in advance. The staff helped us order food for delivery which was so helpful! Standard rooms don’t have air conditioning but the villas do and they let us change rooms very easily.

Not a typical hotel - the standard rooms do not have AC, but they do have cross winds once you open the windows and sliding doors, if this is not enough, turn on the fan. Showers a slow draining but nice hot water, so just adjust how much water comes out and you should be fine. The food was good. We also discovered it was pet friendly. Walking distance to town but no shade so be prepared.

- Alice (8/5): A very typical Costa Rican accommodation. - The surroundings were beautiful and the pool was perfect for refreshing swims. My room was spare, clean and serviceable. The staff were all very helpful and lovely Ticos, who are wonderful people. Restaurant’s Tico cuisine is not fancy but just right. The bed in my room was a bit uncomfortable with a lumpy crease in the middle of the mattress.

It looks great in the photos, so at one time it was a nice, well kept hotel. Not anymore. It's as though the owners don't care. Poor maintenance so it makes you question the cleanliness of everything. Poor check in experience. The pool is nice, but your not sure if its clean or not. The gardens could be nice, but they are so poorly maintained. The hotel was simply uncomfortable.

The whole property was very nice and we were woken in the morning by local roosters which was perfectly fine! Location was very close to town and the staff was outstanding. Hot water for the shower took a while to get warm, but not a big deal!

We paid over $900.00 for four nights. We feel that we were ripped off and will never do that again. The price could have been better.

- Lemuel (10/5): A Jewel - Hotel Colinas del Sol is a mini-resort, a destination hotel. After noisy nights at beach or resort hotels in tourist towns, the quiet is amazing. The grounds are a garden of Eden with numerous birds, shaded paths, and cupolas. The restaurant serves a good breakfast and serves dinner 5 days per week, and lunch 3 days per week. A measure of the care which is taken is that the newer rooms on a hill have plants designed to attract hummingbirds in the concrete planter. Our room did not have AC, but it wasn't necessary. Atenas claims that it has the best climate in the world and I agree. The temperatures which might seem uncomfortably high are not because the humidity is so low in January. The owners and staff are friendly, helpful, and speak excellent English. One of the owners/managers is German so it is also German friendly. It is about 15 minutes walk or 5 minute drive from the center of Atenas where there are numerous supermarkets, restaurants, and bakeries. Atenas is an upscale little town - the neighborhood is upscale and safe. Single women walk at night. The swimming pool is a little chilly for my tastes, but I dislike cold water more than most.

- Brian (8/5): A Good Stay - Clean comfortable basic room, but without extras. Staff very friendly AND helpful. Nice breakfast which you chose from several offerings on a menu. Large pool (which we did not have time to use). Pretty, lush tropical landscaping. I found the bed very comfortable. My wife felt it too firm, but that's a matter of taste. Great location for us. No negatives, really. Like I said, room is pretty basic. Does not match photos on website. However, we booked a standard room and photos may represent more expensive rooms on property. Overall, a positive experience.
