Guest Reviews
- John (7/5): - met my expectations
- Luis (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Craig (10/5): Don't miss this for a great getaway! - Been several times as a nearby special getaway with my husband-this one for my birthday! Check in Fri afternoon by wonderful ful Leslie -who always seems genuinely happy to see us, yummy dinner in cozy bar with a joyful server - began with đ„watching the sunset ( so nice when people actually enjoy their jobsđ€Ł), moved over to wonderful seats at Side Door for another brilliant evening of music in perfect setting (guests of inn /dinner get " first dibs " for great seats if tickets purchased in advance - hassle free all the way around!)
Coffee available in am- along with a la carte breakfast choices.
Ended our stay with another fantastic visit to new exhibits at the Lyme Arts Association right across the streetđ ( "Flo Gris" right on same street too!)
2 minutes to 95 and back to Mystic in 25 minutes to begin another adventure with good friends at Saltwater Farm Vineyard for more music & fun that afternoon...can you beat this for a perfect weekend??? It was time to leaveđ
- Ivette (10/5): -
- Bernard (8/5): Some confusion on dinner reservations and money paid for brunch but otherwise an excellent stay. - Beautiful location and convenience from highway. Brunch was excellent! Doorways were to far from the parking lot for guests. Especially in the rain.
- Whitley (1/5): -
- Rita (8/5): - Beautiful Inn. The entire Inn is beautifully furnished. Lovely staff. Music piped in thru the Inn. I could till hear thru the entire night. This only happened one night, so it may have been a mistake.
- Rosemary (8/5): Very convenient to my son's house. Overall a good stay - The quaintness of the Inn. No stains on rug.
- Jodie (10/5): -
- Ann (10/5): Delightful place with attentive staff - It was quirky with a history Nothing
- Kirk (10/5): - The bathroom sink drained very, very slowly the entire time we stayed. The room lighting was a little too dim. However, the Inn is beautiful, The room was spacious. We had a very good bed.
- STEVEN (2/5): Never again! - No breakfast was offered Carpet in the room was stained and dirty, thin toilet paper, only one nightstand with a lamp for a king size bed, no wifi, no conditioner for hair. Staff was there to check us in but other than that they were not there to answer questions or offer any service. We were given a key to get into the Inn and our room because staff was not there to assist. We were the only ones staying there and they put us in a room that was noisy by the highway. Also, when I mentioned we didn't have wifi when we checked out, because they were there in the mornings, just not after that, they blamed it on Comcast, but there was no password provided and nothing in the room stating what the wifi was. The lady wanted to argue with me at the front desk and I just dropped it. I did need wifi for my job, so I ended up going to Starbucks, however Starbucks is not open late at night which is when I wanted to work, because I wanted to sightsee during the day.
- Hasan (10/5): - Great room and very pleasant property. Super and welcoming staff. Very easy to recommend. Thanks.
- Suzanne (6/5): Lovely inn, nice staff, well situated, beware of dampness in room - Lovely, rustic inn with very nice staff and beautifully decorated room with 2 beds. We appreciated the freshly brewed coffee and baked muffins in the morning. Plenty of free parking, too. No onsite inn staff after 4pm to help answer questions or provide oversite. It was a bit spooky. A big issue was the dampness of the room. It permeated the bedding and the contents of my travel bag, leaving behind the smell of mildew on my clothes. The inn is more active over the weekend and probably has a different feel than our midweek visit.
- Samantha (10/5): - The Old Lyme Inn is absolutely charming! Itâs quaint, cozy, and full of character, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. The entire place has such a warm, inviting vibe; I loved the mix of history and comfort throughout.
Leslie at the front desk was wonderful, friendly, helpful, and genuinely interactive, which made us feel right at home. The library with board games was such a fun touch, and the live jazz music really set the mood and added to the unique experience.
We had breakfast on our last morning, and it was delicious; definitely worth it. Parking was easy and convenient, and the location couldnât be better, right off I-95.
Overall, this inn has a great blend of charm, comfort, and personality. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, memorable stay in Connecticut!
- Elizabeth (10/5): -
- Jane Ratsey (10/5): comment - A beautiful Inn with lots of history. A favorite of ours. Wish their had been breakfast available but fresh coffee was out and ready
- Linda (10/5): -
- Gloria (9/5): - Felt like home
- Kari (6/5): - The bedding needs updating. We stayed two nights and they did not clean the room or provide clean towels. There is a keurig in the lobby to make coffee and they put out a tray of muffins in the morning that are cut in half. Inn was quiet. Right off I-94. Hangry Goose is a good breakfast place near by.
- Gloria (9/5): -
- Jay (10/5): - Lovely old inn, updated rooms, great staff
- Jason (10/5): - The property was exactly what you think when you think a historical inn. Great stay. Very quiet and very friendly staff.
- Margaret (8/5): A Lovely Stay - What a beautiful old inn, with character and style! The staff are very friendly and helpful, and our stay was comfortable and very enjoyable. We also had brunch at the inn on Sunday, which was delicious. Plus there was lots of free parking. The inn is very close to the highway, which you can hear when outdoors, on the grounds. But we did not hear it from our room and there were no issues with sleeping well.
- marietta (8/5): - Very nice Inn, kept very clean, nice location. Staff is friendly and helpful but a little less available during the week than on weekends. None of the rooms have a coffeemaker. The standard room is very small with no TV but the more updated rooms will have one. We would stay at this Inn again.
- Mo (6/5): Comfortable - Jazz club attached and the dining room pleasant No tea/coffee making facilities in the room or reception area.
- Michael (10/5): - Great stay. Internet was spotty though.
- Edwin (10/5): Couldnât have asked for more - everything was wonderful the staff the food, the service, impeccable
- Patricia (10/5): - staff was extraordinarily hospitable, knowledgeable of the area and took time to chat....
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - Always cozy with a welcoming staff!
Just across from Flo Gris & Lyme Art Association with a wonderful bar & restaurant and the fabulous Side Door Jazz Club attached! Had the pleasure of seeing Jason Marsalis this trip. Our wonderful room had a FP ...nice on a raw April eve! Thx, Lesley!!
- Ron (10/5): Weekend stay to enjoy some jazz. - The Inn was beautiful and historic. The restaurant was excellent, and the Jazz Club outstanding! The best part though, was the staff! From the second we arrived, everyone there was so friendly, and helpful! We loved our stay there and will definitely return.
- Kathy (9/5): Superb - Wonderfully accommodating and well appointed. No food or music, but understand thatâs not a mid week option
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): - Absolutely love this Inn and will be back again and again. Only small downside for me were the bathroom towels as they are quite rough. But that's a small negative. Staff is wonderful and attentive and the full experience is top notch and classy.
- JON (10/5): - This hotel is unique in the region, having a Jazz club on the premises.
- Deborah (9/5): Lovely, relaxing stay in warm and cozy atmosphere. - The staff were awesome! They gave me a room upgrade at no extra charge, as I stayed in February, a slow month. They started the fireplace in the library, just for me, so I could enjoy breakfast in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Nice gas fireplace in my room, too. The check-in time of 2-4 pm seemed a bit unrealistic. I had to make an appointment for check in after those hours. And the $25 penalty for check-in after 9 pm, which is stated in the website, seemed a bit unfair. But the staff were great about keeping in touch via text message.
- Tom (9/5): Really great, look forward to going again! - Beautiful, neat, well maintained! Delightful stalk! All was good!
- Steven (10/5): Lovely Inn in a lovely town! - A special place to stay. A lovely old inn in charming Old Lyme. The staff were super personable, the room was lovely and comfortable, and the breakfast was reasonably priced and tasty. Nothing not to like! If it were a little less expensive, I could stay there more often ;-)
- Barbara (10/5): Perfect stop right off 95. Historic Inn in the heart of Old Lymeâs art community. The manager, Tash, was very articulate - The staff greeted us warmly and welcoming upon early arrival. The Inn is beautifully decorated and updated.
Our room was cozy and comfortable. Loved having our own fireplace. Loved it all!
- Daniel (9/5): Very pleasant experience everytime. - Beautiful quaint, well kept, cozy. Rooms are cleaned and pleasantly decorated in period furnishings.
Great food, consistently good, friendly
and helpful staff. Love the life jazz music.
- Scotty (6/5): - The Inn needs an update. Our room had no television, refrigerator, bathtub or fireplace. The bright spot was the Side Bar which has excellent jazz shows
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): We had a wonderful time! - Beautiful and easy access for travel. The Art museum across the street and the Jazz club on the property. Nothing
- Marcus (7/5): Perfectly pleasant but could be improved if soem of the facilities mentioned above could be addresse - Breakfast good, location excellent if you want to be in Lyme which I did. Friendly staff, large room, fairly priced. Facilities are lacking, nice to have the ability to make coffee, there is a 24 hour Dunkin Donuts 6 miles away but I would have assumed a coffee maker in the room with coffee and milk. The wi-fi in my room (#5) suffered from a weak signal making it a bit intermittent. The furniture in that room could do with a tune up, the table is about to lose a leg. The plug in the basin in the bathroom cannot seal the sink to keep water in it. General maintenance issues I feel that could be addressed easily
- Pozarik (9/5): Superb -
- Shelli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Go (9/5): I would recommend staying her. - Clean, comfortable, delicious food and beverage, great service, friendly staff. Restaurant and bar were closed Sunday night.
- Steve (10/5): - The Old Lyme Inn itself is a very nice property and the staff is exceptional. The staff is warm, welcoming and very helpful and informative about events and the local area.
- Ernest (8/5): - Property seemed a little old and tired - stains on carpet and room smelled musty
- Leslie (10/5): Enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. - Everyone working at the Old Lyme Inn was extremely helpful and pleasant. Made for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.
- Chun (10/5): Exceptional - Very pleasantly decorated room. Larger than we expected. Nice, quiet location close to where we needed to be. Wifi could be a little more consistent.
- Paul (10/5): Mid week getaway -
Always top notch customer service at this inn. Leslie and Tosh always provide impeccable attention to guests. Offering room upgrades, informing about 3 hrs of entertainment with dinner on the patio on thursday nights, or offering suggestions on activities on the area. Would recommend for a relaxing get away. Had a great dinner outside on the patio. The crusted cod was done Ĕust right , along with the deviled eggs.
- Gina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gitta (9/5): Beautiful well maintained Victorian style house - A beautiful in directly opposite from the Florence Griswold museum and the art association.
A 10 min walk down Lyme street yields some beautiful houses to look at (although there isn't a centre of town so much).
The inn has nice lounge spaces to hang out in. It was a lovely stay and everything was as advertised.
The bathroom doesn't have shelf space to put your toiletries but it does everything you need.
Old Lyme itself wasn't as exciting for us, but nearby Essex was a nice place to go for a little stroll.
- Elaine (10/5): This inn was a delightful historic stay with wonderful people! - My train was very late getting in. The owner volunteered to come pick me up in Old Saybrook. Wow, talk about above-and- beyond!
- Carlotta (6/5): It was pleasant - Pretty historic building The steep stairs, and mediocre breakfast. Expected more charm
- Susan (7/5): Good -
- Gretchen (8/5): The accommodations were very good. And the location was perfect. - I had to leave for my workshop earlier than the breakfast was offered. Better lighting and easier entry into the building. The key was a bit hard to use.
- Donald (10/5): - Customer service was excellent.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (10/5): Our happy place! - Charming atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, loved the Jazz brunchâŠthe owners were present lovely and welcoming. We have stayed there many times over the years. The dining was excellent and cozy bar on site is very relaxing. 5stars everythingđ„° The only thing I missed was not being able to walk out the door and take a brisk walk each day..no sidewalksđ
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raymond (9/5): Superb - Flexibility of staff to meet all our needs, friendliness, restaurant/bar on premises
- Michael (6/5): - The Inn is beautiful however some of the furniture was shabby and the bed was lumpy.
- Rosemarie (5/5): We did eat at the restaurant for dinner and were happy with our experience and meal. After having breakfast there we wer - We liked the location. The carpets were very dirty which contributed to a stale smell in the room. I wished I would have taken a picture. We asked for housekeeping during our three night stay but only received one day of housekeeping. The Keurig needed to be cleaned. First cup was filled with coffee grinds. No half and half cups left the second day so I had to go to the kitchen for half and half which was given to me in a disposable coffee up with no lid. Upon wearing the provided terry robe, I found a discarded Kleenex and mint not left by me. Yuck! Upon calling the desk, I was provided with Iâm assuming a clean robe with a reassurance the owners would be contacting us. That never happened.
- Barbara (10/5): Very nice, - Quiet, felt safe , local and A/C. No TV in my room, need a few more amenities, lotion, toothpaste and brush, shower cap.
- Brita (9/5): Wonderful historic place with a jazzy undertone. - The inn is classic old New England. There is a public sitting room and outside seating. Although we didnât actually eat at the restaurant, the menu looked great. Staff throughout the establishment, including The Side Door, could not have been friendlier. The Side Door was really hopping when we stayed. Florence Griswold Museum is right across the street. Plus, if you like colonial era homes there is a self guided walking tour available of Old Lyme. Although itâs near vicinity to I-95 makes it really convenient to get around, when you sit outside, you do hear the highway noise. That is not true when you are in your room. Our room was quiet and peaceful.
- Sebastian (8/5): - Lovely place near our family's beach house.
Staff is friendly and motivated.
Great jazzy brunches.
- Carolyn (10/5): Very comfortable..perfect evening. - Beautiful room. Wonderful, comfortable bed.
Beautiful property. All was perfect.
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property, excellent staff.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- scott (10/5): Perfect weekend - Our stay was excellent the staff was amazing very accommodating and friendly we were so relaxed we spent an extra day the buildingâs groundâs common areas and rooms were immaculate we will definitely be back!!
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Freya (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Sherry (10/5): - A quaint and charming New England Inn set in a peaceful setting close to beaches. The staff do everything to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.
- Joanna (10/5): Beautiful hotel. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and attentive. - Quaint decorations. Very comfortable! The bathroom was so tiny, maybe adding some shelves for guests to put toiletries would be an idea.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Stay at the Old Lyme Inn - Great stay at the Old Lyme Inn! The most welcoming and accommodating staff I've ever met! They couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was very nice, although the coffee wasn't great. The grounds are beautiful. We would definitely stay here again!
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Skparker (9/5): Will Stay Again - We enjoyed our stay. It is quiet in the evenings unless you are in the bar with the hiking club. The price was quite a bit more than we ever pay but it was close to family and it was lovely. I almost cancelled to stay at a hotel for half the price. The drinks are not cheap in the bar. Perhaps a discount for those that are staying at the Inn. We had muffins and juice one morning and they were tasty. The staff are wonderful and outgoing. We are use to a softer bed but loved the king size room in the corner - #3. Thank you! The price and the cost of drinks. A fridge in the room would be lovely also.
- Joan (9/5): What an impeccable Inn to stay and enjoy amazing dining at each meal, outstanding staff and live music all in one place - Picturesque and historic Nothing
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maureen (9/5): Superb -
- Ronald (9/5): Superb -
- Kathryn (9/5): Lovely, friendly place to stay in a great location. - The hotel is lovely and in a great location. The staff was terrific. The adjoining jazz club was a huge plus and would make me stay at the Old Lyme Inn again. The food in the restaurant was so-so. Pretty expensive for the quality.
- Flo (10/5): Wonderful Stay with a Wonderful Staff - What a wonderful experience we had at The Old Lyme Inn. From the Valentineâs Tea, the amazing dinner and the Jazz club right next door. We never had to leave the property once we arrived on Saturday. Tosh the manager made us feel as if we were the only people staying at the inn . My guess is she made everyone else there feel the same. The room had wonderful morning light, comfy chairs and everything we needed. We will definitely be back - thanks for a wonderful weekend.
- M (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (5/5): IWe were only there at night. At no time was any one around to talk to, tho Chris helped on arrival - There was no breakfast, in fact no one was up when we left. We asked that the bed be made and bathroom cleaned, and neither happened.
There was only one chair in a room for 2. There was no step stool to get up on the high bed.
We asked if we could have a room on the first but were told none was available, however it seemed that we were the only guests at the Inn, so I think they could have accomodated us.We
- Nancy (10/5): More than expected. - We loved the jazz at brunch and the night before. The food and service was excellent. The rooms cozy and warm. Only one thing. The room needed better lighting. The bulbs in the lamps were different. One a bright white and the other very dim. I know it is very minor and you are rolling your eyes. But I am an interior designer and lighting makes or breaks a room.
- Glenn (7/5): Beautiful Inn, pleasant staff, some improvements required to enhance stay. - The Inn was very eclectic and the property was beautiful. Location was good but did hear the noise of the close by Hwy I95. Specific to room #11. It was not communicated, until arrival, there was not a tv in the room which turned out not to be an issue but this should have been known. The bathroom was tight and didnât provide any space to put our toiletries. The shower was dark and I would not recommend for a person taller than 6 ft. No luggage stand was available.
- Thomas (10/5): - Wonderful experience. Excellent service.
- Valery (7/5): Painfully elegant. - Impossible to sleep on rock hard bed. Left one day early. The thought of another night on that "asphalt" surface was unbearable.
- Yuval (10/5): wonderful - wonderful place, very good service, very friendly, and helpful staff.
The room was big and clean, large bathroom.
The tea party was wonderful.
- Paul (10/5): Great weekend!! - Family weekend. 3 night stay to meet with daughters for a weekend getaway. In allowed for an early check in because room was ready. Jazz club attached to Inn with shows Friday and Saturday night. Inn arranged for show tickets both nights. All the staff were exeptionally accomadating all weekend long from check in to show tickets to allowing us dinner service right at closing time. The dinner and breakfast were both prepared with care and quality. Dining are was very charming. From day one staff called us by name whenever we encountered them and made us feel like home. Because of their service would recommend their establishment. Inn was conveniently located right off the highway and walking distance to lyme sculptuĆe garden and floĆence griswold museum. 10 to 15 minute drive to niantic boardwalk, essex Steam train and ivoryton theatre
