Mahoneys (9/5): Great hotel in the heart of Morgantown with parking. - Everything was great with the property, the suite and the staff. One issue is the bar across the street has a rooftop bar that is open until 3:00-3:30 am, we had a suite in the front of the hotel - the noise from the bar was super loud, we could not sleep.

jbailey1858 (4/5): Scholar Disappointment by Hilton - I'm very disappointed with my recent (4/9/26) stay. The room and hotel didn't feel like a Hilton property. The room felt more like a dorm room than a hotel room. The outdoor noise coming from the bars added to it as well. The only redeeming factor was that is the room was clean for the most part. My one night stay here was more than enough for me to avoid this hotel in the future.

Gentleman at the front desk was super nice - but they basically had him as bartender, front desk and I think even maintenance. Hotel is dark, dingy and smelled moldy. The doors and furniture were so beat up. Hilton should be embarrassed to puttheir name on this. Don't waste your time.

767richf (2/5): Shocked this is actually a Hilton - I've been to several Hiltons (Diamond Member) and this may be the worst I've ever experienced. Zero parking options on site... dark and sketchy street location... hotel in need of serious repairs. I've even stayed in other Scholar hotels in college towns and always found them charming and local. NOT this one. We were there for a tour of the university and the trip got off on a horrible start. I can't believe this place has the Hilton name on it. Outdated room, decent bathroom, but the rest felt low level. AVOID.

Poorly cleaned room. - Absolutely horrible experience My 20 year old son along with his 18 year old friends were unfoundedly kicked out of the hotel in the middle of the night ( 1am) directly jeopardizing their safety as the kids were there visiting with nowhere else to go. Nothing illegal or contraveersial occurred except making an honest mistake by exploring the hotel and ending up in the empty basement that consequently led them outside. Needless to say the hotel charged them full price despite being wrongfully "evicted".

The windows are so thin you can here conversations on the street. That a bar is across the street and plays music outside until midnight. in 80+ hotels we stayed in this was the worst

Garrett (2/5): Cockroaches and Contaminants - We arrived late after flying into Pittsburgh, unfortunately the “Parking Garage” was completely inaccessible due to a steel door blocking the entrance. After checking in, the staff member opened the “Parking Garage”. The “Parking Garage” is a dilapidated warehouse with every window busted out. We went to our room where the smell of smoke and mold was gagging as soon as we cracked the door, but the more disgusting “Amenities” were the dead cockroach and the condom full of “Baby Juice” just laying by the bed. The pictures online definitely do not match what you’ll arrive to. The place really needs a fresh coat of paint and a full demolition by a D9 Dozer. My charge is still “Pending”, but apparently they won’t be charging me. However, I only received verbal confirmation of that from the staff member who checked us in and back out in under 15 minutes. Whatever you do, sleep on the street before considering this hotel. It’s a cockroach infested biohazard, and honestly Morgantown or Hilton needs to demolish the place. At least the staff member was friendly enough given the situation, I just hope he was also honest about not charging me over $1,000 for my cancellation. Update: I was not charged for my stay.

kristaPGHPA (10/5): Highly recommend - It’s been 2 years since our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised at some very positive changes at this property. The Scholar has a fantastic location if you want to be near WVU downtown campus or in the center of Morgantown night life and waterfront. It is very walkable to High Street and many bars/restaurants. The big changes I mentioned were the parking and the room. Previously parking was in an old attached garage. Currently it isn’t open and we parked on the side of hotel for $12 ish per night. Additionally the room has been updated. It is very sizable and has plush bedding and an updated, very large bathroom. I chose the 4th floor due to noise from nightlife being a factor. As I said, you are in the center of it, so it can be loud when the kids are in school. We stayed with the intention of attending a concert at Ruby Amphitheater and easily walked there and back, which really saves on parking as it’s difficult in Morgantown. Finally, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

WorldwideMarkO (10/5): Great hotel in the heart of town. - I'm a long time Hilton Honors member and have stayed in their properties all over the world. This hotel had the feel of a small inn but the appointments of the hilton properties. The front desk welcomed us and we immediately connected on a personal level. After dropping our bags in the much larger than expected double bedroom, we adjourned to the lobby bar and sampled some of the local beverages. The beer, wine and booze selections were as wide and varied as you would expect to find in a much larger hotel. Fridays in the summer, Morgantown has a free concert series just three blocks away from this hotel. We checked it out for a few songs then headed to a local brewery (mt state) for pizzas and beers. This is a major community hang out and there were half a dozen food truck vendors, a beer / cocktail vendor (line was really long, so didn't wait) but I also saw families dragging coolers in to the show, so I guess you could also bring your own stuff if so desired. This hotel is centrally located in Morgantown just behind the main road and there are several bars/restaurants in the immediate vicinity. We were also on the campus of WVU in two blocks so anything to do with the university would make this a suitable place to stay. As for the room itself, it had the normal Hilton beds and was well appointed and clean. The furniture was fairly typical for what you find in a hilton hotel. In the bathroom, there was a large dressing table, which is nice so you don't have to put your clothes on the sink! The bathroom has a walk in shower and high level toilet, both appreciated! Water pressure was great and the soap/conditioner/body wash was of the higher quality than what I find at Hampton Inns (my normal go-to for biz travel). The TV has all the streaming services available so you can log in to your account and pick up on your shows where you left off. The fridge has a clear window so you can see the food you put in there late the night before!! it isn't a huge fridge though. The parking garage is connected to the hotel on the ground floor (at least as far as we saw). So we had to carry our stuff down the ramp to the door. It would be better at check in to leave your car near the door and unload. Overall, great stay!

beckymR4711VW (4/5): Avoid this hotel!!! - As a Hilton Gold member, I travel a lot with work. This was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. Upon arrival to my room, I immediately saw a roach in my sink. The room I had was the King living suite on the first floor. The room also smelled musty and had an overall feel of dirtiness. The gals at the front desk were extremely nice and switched me to a different room. The bathroom was newly renovated in the second room, but everything else was OLD. The furniture was all beat up, to the point the fake wood was peeling off. The air conditioning unit had water on top of it and was warped. I had drove 7 hours and was exhausted so decided to stick it out instead of going to a different hotel. Thankfully I didn’t see any roaches in this room. So much for a good nights sleep. You can hear EVERYTHING. The worst part was the trains that ran all hours of the night on the track right outside the hotel and then work trucks going up and down the street starting at 4am and never stopping. They were soooo loud. I was on the 4th floor and could even hear people talking outside my window. I was supposed to stay 2 nights but left after 1 night. I do not know how this hotel falls under the Tapestry Collection. On top of all of that!!! I just looked at my receipt and saw a charge for liquor at the bar using my food & beverage credit! I don’t even drink! Apparently this is common with this hotel from other reviews I have read. To me this is an insult! Do better Hilton.

Lacricia (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed my stay there! Everything was really great. The beds are comfortable. The room was clean. The bathrooms are amazing. The man who checked me in was really nice and polite. The parking garage, not so much it's a little bit hard to navigate if there's someone coming out as you're going in.
Patrick (3/5): Disappointing - The location was right off the High Street with a lot of shops/restaurants/bars. The bathroom was nice other than walk in shower had water that ran out everywhere. Well I booked a room with 2 queen beds and received one queen bed and a pullout couch. The person working the counter said she'd bring extra bedding for the pullout couch but never did. When I pulled the pullout out, there was a muffin wrapper tucked in it. I went and got bedding for it and it had gross stains on it. The pillows had stains on them. The walk in shower was nice and spacious but there was no lip on the floor to contain the water and it ran out in front of the toilet so I had to tell my kids to be careful that they didn't slip on it. You have to pay extra for wifi. Won't stay there again.
