Hotel is keurig netjes, brandschoon en ligt gelegen op een toplocatie. Een persoonlijke Note; voor ons was het bed iets te hard, maar dat is echt een persoonlijke noot.

Die Zimmer sind geräumig für eine Innenstadtlage in Köln. Matratze neuwertig, Handtücher in sehr guter Qualität. Sehr sauber und gepflegt.

Christian nous a accueilli avec beaucoup de professionnalisme. Cependant nous ne reviendrons pas à cause de certains points: -les wc dans la chambre (au secours) -la qualité du matelas (idem) -le manque de rangements -le prix (qui semble très différent si payé sur place. Dans tous les cas 297€/nuit pour avoir mal au dos merci mais non merci) - un peu trop loin des restaurants Bref un bel hôtel mais c’est tout
Sunao (8/5): Very impressive, & best located for art-book fans - 主に日本人の旅行者に参考になるように書きたいと思います。まず、あまたあるケルンのホテルの中で、このホテルに目をつけるというあなたは、かなりユニークな方ですよね。その視点、なかなか鋭いです。このホテル、かなり味わい深いものがあります。とにかく小さなホテルなので、とてもアットホームです。一例を挙げると、私がチェックインした時、脚が痛くて歩きにくそうにしていたら、翌朝朝食の時に、「あなたは脚が悪そうだからお部屋を二階に替えましょうか」とオファーをしてくれました。もちろん、この話の裏には、エレベーターがない！という重大なファクトがあるわけですが（笑）それもまた味わいですし、この気配りは小さなホテルならではのものでしょう。建物はかなり古いですが、部屋は清潔ですし、趣味も良い。シャワーは「巨人用か！」とツッコミを入れたくなるくらい高いところから降り注ぎますが、もちろん可動式で下げることもできます。ただし、手が届けばの話ですが。トイレはかなりのインパクト。今まで欧米でかなりの数のホテルに泊まりましたが、ここまで部屋と一体化したトイレはかつてなかった。ただ、決して嫌な感じはありません。慣れると悪くないな、と感じました。これもまた味です。朝食はケルンのホテルとして平均レベルと思いますが、思えばこの客室数で平均レベルを保つのはかなり大変だと思います。卵は席に着いてからのオーダーで好きな料理で出してくれます。まあ、15ユーロプラス17%のVATですから、倹約家は近くのカフェに行った方が良いでしょうが。そしてこのホテルの最大の魅力は、やはりロケーションですね。裁判所の隣という閑静な場所ですが、実はショッピング街のすぐ近くで、カールシュタットは目と鼻の先、ノイマルクトまでも歩いて5分くらい。そして、地下鉄駅が真下にあり、ケルン中央駅までは一駅で行けます。私のケルン訪問の最高の楽しみは世界一のアート書店「ケーニッヒ」に行くことですが、ここに歩いて行けるのが最高です。洋書を長く持ち歩くのは本当に苦行ですから。というわけで、かなり癖のあるホテルですが、私はとても気に入りました。次回もまたきっと利用します。
Meghan (6/5): Good, but confusing, hotel - My partner and I stayed in the hotel while we were in town for a conference. The location was good, near the historic center, but not within the immediate tourist zone. It's a quick walk to great restaurants, good pubs, and the main places to see in town. We were greeted at check-in, and hotel staff helped us with a room issue shortly after, but from then on we were largely on our own. The room was comfortable, and was kept clean until the Sunday of our stay, when no one ever came to clean.

Gabby (2/5): Tourist Trap - This hotel is very clean and the staff was available for our check in and check out but we didn’t sleep AT ALL. The bed was very hard and in a downward slope at the headboard. Pillows were extremely flat so we weren’t able to prop ourselves up to avoid the blood flowing to our heads through the night. Half way through the night we spun around and placed our feet at the headboard but still no sleep came. For $200 dollars we recommend sleeping at the Hyatt just across the bridge.

Mr Scott (8/5): A quirky and fun option - This is not so much a hotel as a guesthouse-hotel. There are only 7 rooms. I never saw anybody else except the receptionist, who also did the breakfasts. It is in a very nice and quiet location, less than 10 minutes walk from the train station. The room itself is very interestingly decorated - some thought and attention has gone into it. It was all very clean and comfortable - although my one gripe was that I thought the bed was a bit cheap, not necessarily all that robust. The toilet is semi open plan in the room, so if you are sharing a room with someone be prepared for that. The sole member of staff I saw was very good, helpful and accommodating. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for something a bit different.

K (10/5): Fantastic base in the centre of Cologne. - The deluxe room was cosy and warm and it was wonderful to escape from a cold, wet day outside to enjoy the sauna. Anja was a welcoming and excellent host, talking us through the local sights and how to get around from the hotel's location. Breakfast was lovely too.
Verified traveler (8/5): quaint lil’ hotel the center of Historic Cologne - This is a great little boutique hotel with a stylish flare. very close to the main train station and all the major historical landmarks. Service with excellence. Note: stairs are required, there is no elevator to get to the room. Also, the room layout is poor because the toilet is out in the same room with the bed, only a room divider. It would be better to have the shower forward with glass wall and put the toilet where the shower is at.
mike (2/5): I WOULDNT CALL HOTEL FOR ME THAI MESSAGE PLACE - I have travelled more than 85 countries I stay hundreds of different hotel this is worst hotel I ever had exprience 5 star I cant belive how this hotel given this rate I think expedia should drop from they list for they own sake bed was most uncomfortable small cover duvet wc and brush next to bed shower bed with curtain no enough light table sofa I book for two night but I had to leave early morning to find another hotel she promise me to pay back but didn't I wasn't expecting people who run this kind of hotel to return my money however please think 3 times before you book this hotel breakfeast different place but trust me when you visit breakfeast hall you may loose your appetite
Wai Hong (10/5): An unique and great hotel - It is a very unique and beautiful boutique hotel. I am very impressed with the stylish decoration of the hotel. The hotel is closed to the Cathedral and the old town. The host of the hotel is very nice and she also recommends me a very good local restaurant. I would recommend this hotel for couples who are visiting Cologne.
Natalia (8/5): Funky modern B&B with excellent breakfast - It is difficult to rate this hotel which is more and upmarket bed and breakfast than a proper hotel. The lady who takes care of the hotel - I think called Anja - was amazing and did everything to make our stay super comfortable. She even brought me an extra duvet at midnight as the duvets are quite small and I wanted an extra one. Plus she brought me a big bottle of sparkling water for free. I had the largest room - I was told - on fourth floor with no lift. Anja offered to carry the suitcases up and down the stairs which was great but slightly awkward. The beds are queen size not king size so be aware and most importantly there is no AC. I slept with the window open but then got woken up by the noise and trembling from the trams nearby. But the rooms are funky, modern, the bathroom great (mine was in separate floor!). Breakfast was outstanding and at 15 eur exceptionally good value. All in all great for a private trip but if you are on business and want full amenities that come from a proper hotel you may want to choose a bigger place suited for business travelers. The AC is probably the one big minus. The fabukous proprietor the big plus.
Richard (10/5): I'll be back. hasta la vista baby! - You can travel the world and stay in hotels that are "the same". This Humboldt 1 is different. And that's what you'll enjoy. It the difference from the ordinary that makes this hotel so enjoyable. It's quirky, it's luxurious in it own way, it's intimate, it's pleasurable, and it's so in the heart of Cologne. You have only a few steps to make to be in the heart of things. Highly recommended. Also the lady of the house is a true hostess, professional, friendly, informative, helpful and nice. Keep in mind - this hotel is all about the experience, the decor, the service. If you're into some sort of special room service, watching TV or wheelchair accessible then this is not for you. This is about being central to what's going on in Cologne

We were on the 4th floor, which meant a lot of stairs but it was well worth it for the room, which was great with a beautiful bathroom and good overall ambiance.

Very clean throughout the room and the hotel. Owner is very friendly and helpful! They have a boutique restaurant/bar, which is next door to the hotel where they serve breakfast. I plan on staying here again on my next visit and recommend it to anyone who appreciates boutique hotels, with charm and personable service.

Rooms are typical European and the breakfast served in the Hotel is good. The only challenge is there are no lifts. But it is not a major concern as the room is at max 2nd floor.
