Ed & Lydia are very knowledgable about the area and able to recommend places to visit as well as good food options.
This has been by far the best accommodation on our 5 days cycling Hadrian’s Wall Cycleway. It’s one of the best places to star gaze but unfortunately it was cloudy……. get in touch early and book a cloudless evening 😉

The couple who run it have done an excellent job. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the rooms are comfortable and beautiful, the breakfast is great quality.
The best thing about here are the hosts. They are welcome, friendly and made our stay feel personable and warm.
This is a place you must stay on your visit. You will not be disappointed.
The pub across the road does excellent food as well. Everything was 10/10
- Anneka (8/5): Very good - Excellent location for walkers doing the HWP. Very nice touches with the honesty store for much needed supplies and the hot water bottle in the room.
- Linn (10/5): Memorable, in every way. - Great location, close to Hadrian’s wall and Milecastle Inn, beautiful views, super comfy beds, very clean, and lovely owners. I would book it again!

- Lucia (10/5): Fantastic! - The hosts were absolutely brilliant - very attentive, helpful and with great eye for detail. We could not have asked for more from them. The room was spotless and very tastefully decorated. There was hot water at all times with an excellent water pressure. The beds were very comfortable and fresh. The breakfast had great choice of everything including catering for allergies. There were plenty of small touches which added to the overall great stay eg a relaxation room filled with books and great views, a hot tub which can be booked, eco friendly approach of the hosts and an excellent position for the Hadrian’s Wall and other local sightseeing. There was nothing that could be faulted.
- Monika (9/5): Superb -
- Roxanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Zoe (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Charles (9/5): Superb - This B&B is a little gem. The location is perfect for access to all sites involving Hadrians wall and the Roman forts. We had the small double room which had a lovely view of the fields and wall. Though a small room (which was expected), it had a large sized bathroom with a window. It was very reasonably priced. Everything was spotlessly clean- tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh milk and toiletries were provided as well as breakfast. Breakfast was served in a pretty conservatory/lounge room which was a good space to relax in. The young hosts are a lovely couple genuinely interested in helping guests get the best out of their stay in this area. Parking on site. We highly recommend Bridge House. A queen bed or a large double bed would have been preferable for us as a couple.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Nice clean and modern. Exceptionally warm welcome and a great location Just not applicable
- Vince (10/5): Great place to stay near Hadrians Wall - Clean well appointed rooms with all the facilities required. Hosts were helpful and knowledgeable about the local area and knew how to get the best out of a visit to Hadrians Wall. They even prepared picnic style lunches.
- Charles (10/5): A great place to stay - We really enjoyed staying with Ed and Lydia and the location worked perfectly for us.
It was so near to Hadrian's Wall
There was a bus stop just outside for the AD122 bus that goes along the wall to other locations (go out of the drive and a few yards to the left).
The Milecastle Inn across the road was really great for drinks and food.
- William (10/5): - Cannot rate the Bridge House highly enough. The B&B is a stone's throw from the (best bit of) wall and 20 steps from a great little pub to watch the sun set. The room, bed, and shower were all perfect and the breakfast was the best I had all trip. What's more, the hosts clearly don't think twice about going above and beyond for their guests, making sure that I had ice for a nagging injury from the trail despite my late arrival. Just a rare level of hospitality.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
