Guest Reviews
- Gregory (8/5): - Great little hotel. Not fancy but clean and friendly hotel staff.
- anthony (2/5): - This place is a joke. Those pictures that represent this place have to be at least 10 years old. The pool look like a swamp literally. So I checked out and went to their sister property, which was much better however they charged me $130 and I’ve been fighting with my credit card company ever cents. I would stay at your sister property, but I would never stay at this property here ever.
- ashok (6/5): - Okay
- Berenice (10/5): - Buena
- Alan (10/5): - I like the place.. rate is fqir
- Lito (10/5): - The housekeeper changed the bedroom amenities everyday
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Hotel is very clean, and the staff very polite.
- ernest (6/5): - the best thing about this hotel is the location. The rooms are in bad need of repairs and furniture. The staff is very nice and the area is okay for downtown Cancun. Close to palapas park and ADO.
- Linda (6/5): - Endast spansktalande.
- Lorenzo (6/5): Mal servicio - Muy mala
- Leyna (8/5): Nice place, close to downtown, not to beach - The room was very nice, and bikes were available for use. The check-in and reading of the rules seemed a bit extreme, but otherwise it was all a nice spot. A long bike ride to the beach though, especially when the bike the assigned us had a flat tire..
- Oscar (2/5): - Booking the hotel made it seem like we were getting a master suite with 4 beds.
what we actually had were 4 mats spread out on cement foundations in the room, and the room was terribly small.
ON TOP OF THAT, we find bed bugs in our luggage!
Don't get this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great big room - Enjoyed the room was large and the price was right the AC worked perfect. WiFi was good as well. Like the area near ceviche park was nice.
- sheila (8/5): Sweet spot - Older hotel, however had a nice pool area. Clean sheets everyday.
Great location.
Great staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Felt it was well worth the price - Very clean. I gave a 3 for the accommodations, but they seemed to be upgrading as we were there. Either it was new ownership or just plain time to do them. Everything new was Nicely done. Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. In general, Not fancy at all, but not nasty. Super good price. Can walk to a lot from the hotel. Palapas Park was very cool. Loved the desk people and maids that worked so hard all the time. Enjoyed our stay. If you want a resort, this is not it (maybe 25 rooms total). If you want cheap, not fancy, but clean and friendly, these guys are it!
- Maria (8/5): Great place for the money - Could not ask for better staff! Friendly, helpful & knowledgeable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wasn't to sure what to expect but i was pleasantly surprised, It was a nice little place. It's not luxurious but we spent most of our time visiting the sights and came back to a clean room. I would definitely stay again.
- Gregory (8/5): Big & Comfy - We like the big bedrooms and and the pool area works well. Close to shopping the buses. Very reasonable.
- Trish (8/5): great budget hotel close to many things - As always, the staff is wonderful!! This hotel is close to several things, good food close by, easy to get around as there are taxis and buses or walking. it is clean, secure and very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This is really a 2 star hotel at absolute most, probably more like a 1.5 star hotel.
Cons: filthy hotel with years of accumulated grime. Walls grimy with lots of dirt. Mold in sink. Dead bugs on ceiling. Dust and grime in corners.
No seating in room aside from one moldy plastic lawnchair. No table to sit at aside from a very narrow island-type construction in kitchen area but no stools to go with it. We complained and staff brought up 1 stool saying there were no others in the hotel.
No hot water. Water pressure too weak for a decent shower.
Kitchen facilities are sub-par: dishes consist of 4 plastic plates, stained and scratched, 2 plastic bowls also stained and scratched, and none of them matching, a couple of cheap forks and soupspoons, and that's it. No knives, no other cooking utensils, nothing.
AC works but is noisy and leaves room smelling moldy.
Rooms are frighteningly insecure: cheap wooden doors with the lock in the doorknob. The inside chain lock was broken. No safe is provided. Anyone could get into the room at any time, really.
Pool is too filthy to use; it's full of green slime.
The lobby area looks abandoned... when we first arrived, I actually thought the hotel was closed down. A large room to the right upon entry is empty, as is another room in back of the desk area. Entrance from outside is very unwelcoming since it's mostly cars parked in front yard area of hotel. Paint on outside of builiding is dirty and peeling.
No on-site food.
- Darrick (2/5): The staff was very friendly and helpful! - The room was about what you'd expect for he price.
Everything seemed fine upon initial inspection. We unloaded our things and went to eat. When we got back and went to bed, our daughter said she saw a bug and killed it. Then we heard another smack of her flip flop. Then another and another. Then she came in a and showed us a pic of the bug on her pillow. We immediately packed our things and went down to check out. They offered us another room, but we decided to leave. Without ant hassle, they gave us a full refund. We got a room at the Ramada around the corner. It was much better!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great downtown suite - Hotel staff was limited with English, but luckily I knew enough Spanish to get by. Right next to 100% Natural, which ended up being a really great place for dinner. Room was nice and big. The shower had a 1-inch lip, and the curtain was 6-8 inches too short, so water gets all over the bathroom floor. The pool seemed decent, although I never used it.
Room had a small safe with a key that can be checked out for a deposit of 200 pesos (which is returned when you leave). Was not big enough for a laptop, so I'm glad I did not bring mine. The TV was jerry-rigged to a metal swiveling stand and seemed like it would fall over at any second. The bed was pretty stiff.
- Trish (6/5): centrally located - I frequently stay at this hotel as it is easy to get to everything from here. The rooms a spacious with a little kitchenette and they are clean. The staff is great!! They take good care of you, they're pleasant and helpful with anything you might need. I would rather stay here than a resort. The hotel is basic but the people are genuine. The neighborhood is quiet as well and very safe and this comes from a solo female traveler!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Is Saving Money Worth It? - This is not the place for everyone. Seemed to be plumbing problems which gave the room a horrible smell which meant I had to leave the windows open and it was loud outside. The windows did not securely lock, but on the third floor, not too worried. The doors were not standard fireproof and they had no inside lock, that was worrisome. I plugged my phone in to charge and after a few minutes I heard 'chzzzz-chzzz' I was afraid to pull it out of the socket, but had to...my phone screen was black for a few minutes then came back. I got absolutely no sleep, a sore throat from the musty smells, and electric shock. Think twice if saving money is really worth it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel Ikaro Suites - Weird Layout but functional. One drawback was the A/C was outside the room, but with the door open, the room did get very cold.
- Trish (8/5): - This place is close to everything downtown and to easy transportation. The people who work here are SUPER sweet and will help with any needs.
- Thomas R. (6/5): Ikaro doesn't fly high - Hotel was about as expected for the price. Room and bedding could have been cleaner.
Listed Airport Shuttle was a cab they'll call for you-pricey even at their 'negotiated rate.'
- Flower (6/5): Is good if you only want a place to stay - Only that expedia takes as a child until 14 and the hotel limit is 11, so there was and extra 50 dlls charge
- Mitchell D. (8/5): nice stopover - Great hotel for the night before ADO or airport. Be prepared fortaxi or long walk to ADO, ITS NOT 300 YARDS, its a 30 minute walk. But a lot of taxis come by the hotel to make the distance easy, not a walk for pulling suitcases, etc.
- Anais (8/5): Economic hotel with a nice room service. - Please keep in mind this is not a luxury hotel and is not located in the hotel zone. This is a affordable hotel to stay which is located in downtown Cancun, close to local markets.
The staff was very nice and courteous and the room was clean. Pool area needs more maintenance and is a really small pool. I am a backpack traveler, not a tourist, so if you want more confort and be in the center of the hotel area, I suggest you to check other hotels and resort. Calipso Hotel is a good possibility because prices are not so high and is in the middle of Zona Hotelera.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Bus Terminal Hotel - The only positive thing was proximity to terminal. Facilities were terrible. Lights were inoperative. No ice available. Staff was surly. Checked nearby alternatives which were better and cheaper!
- Z (2/5): overbooked and lacking - paid extra to secure late arrival. when i did finally arrive they had given the room away and put me up in another hotel a few blocks away...THAT WAS AWFUL! dirty. bugs. AC didn't work. worst experience of my trip. the room they put me in was maybe 1/3 the price what i paid and they wouldn't refund the difference.
- GUSTAVO (8/5): Nice Hotel in an old building - The Hotel is located a few steps from Mercado 28, which is a nice place to shop Mexican Souvenirs or Eat typical food.
Please be aware it is not nothing like a resort or a 3 stars hotel.
The building itself is pretty old, the elevator doesn't work, and from the outside it seems the building is ages old, BUT, the rooms are ok, very big with mattresses built on top of concrete and only a full size bed. Still you will get the basic stuff like a Small Freezer. I used the hotel for 3 nights, just to check out CanCun downtown, it was ok for this purpose.
- Frequent traveller UK (2/5): Denied Access to Hotel - Hard to review hotel, as they denied me access, saying a fictional story about prior guests not leaving the hotel, so they had no room for me. This was despite the fact I had booked and paid for the hotel 3 weeks before, and the booking team assuring me the room would be available. After 30 mins of discussion and translation, I was sent to a different hotel round the corner, which did not have a pool and was not as good, despite the second owner being a lovely guy. Very disappointed with the whole experience.
- Lisa K Stearns-Migoni (8/5): It was an alright stay - If you are looking for a clean room this was and big! It is a very old hotel and shows but for the price was just fine. Location is great & just a walk away to restaurants & Mercado 28! WiFi was the best of all the hotels we stayed at!! If you are looking for luxury don't book here, looking for a clean place with a bed, then here it is!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice suite, roomy with kitchen. - No elevator. At 66 years old I decided to leave my bag downstairs since I was leaving early to the airport. Pool was half empty as was the spa so I'm not sure what they had in mind. The room was spacious, clean, with kitchen and a great shower. TV was actually watchable. Location is ok. 5 blocks from the ado bus station. There are a few restaurants near by.
- Benito (6/5): Necessary convenience - We made the choice to stay here based on price and the few reviews available. I would not return. Zero character. No color on the walls, or effort to create comfort. My overall impression would be better if we did not have the LOUDEST air conditioner on the planet. One bright spot was proximity to the ADO station. About a 5-10 min walk.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Budget hotel in downtown Cancun - After staying at 5-star resort in Riviera Maya for several days, we chose to stay in Cancun for one night before catching an early flight in the morning. The hotel staff is very nice, and the room is basic with a microwave and small refrigerator. Nothing is fancy, but given the low price, it is a good choice for budget travellers.
- Barbara (4/5): Look at other options first - I was a little disappointed with this hotel. It reminded me of what I would picture a flophouse to be. We got what we paid for. Fortunately, we got in late and left early the next day.
- Bill Summerside (6/5): Avoiding winter - The hotel is center of town, it is clean with a great staff, You can walk to most places or catch a taxi for about $3 to the beach.
- Bill Summerside (6/5): Medical tourism - I came to this hotel because it was close to my dentist. The hotel staff is very kind and helpful, the hotel itself is comfortable and clean, the pool is old and needs some work but is clean and safe to swim in. The hotel is in a great location close to markets, grocery stores, restaurants and local bars. Book online to get the best prices.
I would rate this as a 3 star hotel
