Verified traveler (8/5): It was OK. - at the convenience place. in overall it was pleasing with the price. Lady who works at the hotel was Very helpful and kind. but the elevator was out of order so we had to bring all the luggages to upstairs.
Kyrylo (6/5): - There are few rooms very close to the elevator and it’s terrible. Few rooms are very small, but designated like double room. And also alarm on few rooms was very close to door knob, so sometimes it can turn on false alarm. Cleaning was almost every day, good stuff at reception

Still had some of the older German charm. Kind of noisy occasionally at night, but folks were celebrating the holidays. So acceptable.

Our room was small but we didnt spend much time there, also a kettle and a fridge would have been handy but the room and en suite were extremely clean and cleaned daily. The hotel is in a quiet street with excellent transport links but also a walk away from the city centre. I would highly recommend this hotel for the price. Breakfast is an option. There are a few cafes / bars across the road, not far at all and a supermarket 2 minutes walk.

Charlotte (10/5): Great location - My stay was very enjoyable. The queen size room that fit two people was very small, but it was clean. Towels were changed daily and the reception staff were lovely! The pillows are very thin, so we asked for another and had a good night sleep. Great location, only a 10 minute walk to the hauptbahnhof and then the same to Königsalle, the main shopping street. We had breakfast one morning which was good and cheaper if you book before the day.
Gina (10/5): A good hotel to stay at - A good hotel to stay at for a few days. Yes the hotel is old and you can hear the people next dorr to you. On the plus side its a hotel with a lift, a 20min walk to city centre and close to public transport. Has a decent breakfast, sometimes with scramble egg. Its close to a range of good resturants like Brewery Schumacher (you will never not get enough local Alt beer there, they like to keep you topped up), if you want a german meal. Otherwise go to the japanese district, a 20min walk away to try japanese. No tea/coffee in room but hotel is next door to some realy good cafes. One is vegen with soya coffee and vegan cakes. The other is a late night bar/cafe. So you can always find a good coffee and cake or just bring a travel mug with you and your own tea/coffee. Overall would recommend this place, if you are on a budget and just need a good decent hotel to stay. While your in the city and your spending most of it, like any tourist would, exploring the place rather than in your room all day.

mike (6/5): - The good part about the hotel is the friendly staff and being close to the train station. Sadly there were many negatives like the fact that I didn’t get a good night sleep because my pillow was too lumpy and mattress too firm. Also there was no point having cable tv when most of their channels were blocked. And finally instead of a key card I could easily slip in my wallet they gave me a bulky key to stick in my pocket.

Joe (10/5): Nice hotel, decent location, great breakfast! - The hotel is located approx. 10mins from Düsseldorf Hbf, and appropriately located just a short walk from Königsallee, Düsseldorf's famous upscale shopping boulevard. On arrival I was politely greeted by the receptionist. He promptly got me sorted and within a couple of minutes of walking into the hotel I was relaxing in my room. The room itself, although not the most modern, was immaculate and quite cozy. The en-suite bathroom was equally spotless. I chose to have the breakfast on both days I was there, and I was very pleased with the selection available. The receptionists were the highlight of my stay - both of the ones I spoke to were very friendly and helpful. On the day I checked out, I was advised of an alternative to the train I was looking to get to Berlin, which saved me a good 120 euros! Overall a very comfortable stay, and I would absolutely book again.
Ronnie (6/5): Small room but good for a short break - We stayed at the Maxim Novum for 2 nights for a short weekend break and it was good for this purpose. The room was small (double bed pushed to the corner of the room), there was a safe but no tea/coffee making facilities. There was bottled water but at 4 Euro I didn't touch it. Breakfast wasn't bad value, at 7.90 Euros, with a buffet (the only hot food was scrambled or boiled eggs). The location isn't bad, being around 10-15 minutes' walk from the main shopping streets, and a further 5-10 minutes from the old town.
HSIAO-TING (10/5): Clean Room with bath, GREAT staff! - Location is fine- about 15 minutes walking from main station- with supermarket near by. The staffs are friendly and helpful, especially the afternoon shift guy! Room is clean and face south-lots of sunshine and with a bath! I will stay here again!

The best thing about the hotel is the location (it is walking distance to the Old Town and various sights and museums) and definitely the staff. The folks on the reception were absolutely wonderful. One gentleman in particular was very helpful, chatty and attentive. He told us about lots of interesting facts about Germany and Dusseldorf as well as suggesting places to visit (like the Japanese Quarter which we didn't even know about!). Would happily stay here again and recommend it to others. Also there is a fantastic cafe just opposite the hotel that does a filling and delicious breakfast for a great price and a brilliant German pub just up the road.

Housekeeping was decent, breakfast was reasonable. It is a decent 3 star hotel. If you have an iphone, or a mac, you need an extra step to connect to the free wifi, it DOES work, but it's easy to lost the wifi connection.

Breakfast was good selection of everything. Went to see Christmas markets and was not disappointed. Rooms all different sizes ours was clean, comfortable size with a safe. Tv only had german speaking channels fine for us as didn't spend much time there.

But it does not have a problem that room does not have tea kettle facility in the room. Though we can order at extra cost and room service charge is also applicable. Ultranatvily there is a cafe across the road to buy the tea coffee directly from there or can take full breakfast from hotel for €10. Hotel is well connected to Public transport. It's just 10mints drive from city center and tower. Over all a good pleasant stay.

John (8/5): Great value hotel, close to town - This hotel really is in an ideal location. Tram and bus links towards the Altstadt and Hauptbahnhof are just a few moments from the door, and Friedrichstadt S-Bahn station is only a 5-min walk, providing a direct link to Düsseldorf Airport in just 16 minutes. Our room was comfortable and spacious, and the bathroom equally impressive. Breakfast was simple, but more than enough to give you a good start to the day. The hotel offers free WiFi, however the signal was often too weak to be of any use. If you need a truly affordable hotel in a fantastic location in Düsseldorf, this may well be the one for you.
Id (4/5): Never stay in this hotel again - As we arrived hotel had elevator issue, then no outside telephone line, no kettle, no fridge, TV only few German channels, room floor very felty, no parking very simple breakfast the only facility was a drink mashine at thr reception

marty (8/5): Good hotel, good transport links - Good hotel only 10 mins walk or take tram 707 from main hauptbahnhof station 3 stops. Good bars, restaurants, local food shops in vicinity. Hotel very clean, staff very friendly, good breakfast with scrambled and boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, cereals, breads etc. Only down side was no kettle in room, but staff let us use kettle in breakfast room for making drinks. About 15 mins walk to Tv tower and river side, 25 mins walk or take tram to old town. Would be excellent accommodation for family as play area and small park opposite hotel. We would stay at this hotel again.

thomas (10/5): Newly refurbisshed and lovely locality, - The hotel has been refubished since last year and the rooms are basic but well appopinted. The bathroom was really good and spotlessly clean. New towels every day and excellent room service.Fabulous breakfast for the price.

The room is very basic but clean. Breakfast is plentiful and good, but there are flies in the restaurant. No aircondition is provided and feel hot even the window was opened.

Tony (8/5): Dorf by Dorfwest - My second time here, so it must have done something right. Nice, comfortable, clean hotel. Friendly, helpful staff (especially when I made a mistake with the safe). It's not exactly the Ritz but for me it was an absolute bargain (again). The S-bahn from the airport stops nearby at Friedrichstadt which I found quite handy.

guy (6/5): prowein visit - basic hotel, nice staff, basic breakfast, but extremely expensive price....when checking out I was not given the invoice, as it seems Travelocity makes such a nice margin that the invoice from the hotel to travelocity must be much much cheaper...which explains the huge price charged. In sum, this hotel should be worth max 150 euros and we were charged over euro/night, which is absurd, euro 320/night which is absurd. We will not use travelocuity again. Rgds Guy Barroilhet

The hotel is quite run down and in a bit of a dodgy area - or at least the walk from the station at night didn't feel particularly safe and I'm from London so used to dodgy areas! The room wasn't particularly clean, hairs in the bathroom etc. The girl on reception at night was awful, sullen and really unhelpful although staff on reception in the day were lovely. Breakfast pretty good too. Good wifi - very speedy!

The bed was huge. Room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. There was a good choice at the buffet breakfast. Staff in particular were friendly and helpful- we had a fantastic time.

Verified traveler (6/5): Handy base for travelling around the city - The hotel was pleasant enough. There is no hotel bar but there are two very nice cafe bars next door. The staff spoke English and were friendly and happy to suggest restaurants and provide directions (although not always the correct ones!) There are trams very close by that will bring you to the train station or the Old Town which was lovely for shopping. It is a budget hotel and for the money paid it was as expected. Overall happy with the stay.
