- lukemarietta (4/5): Disappointed, pictures look much better than reality - Hotel is renovating. So no bar, breakfast was only cold food. Reviews online suggest a hot tub. It’s been filled in. Pool only. I was disappointed bc I was staying up here for a futsal tournament and wanted to chill in the hot tub on down time. I picked this hotel for that and the breakfast for the boys, and also for the bar to chill at for a night cap. None of these things were possible. I’m writing this review with 1/4 cup of coffee bc they ran out……

- L4973XErogerb (2/5): Park and fly and wait - This hotel relies on Uber for their park and fly package. My flight landed at Grand Rapids Airport at 11:59 PM. I finally received an Uber pick-up from the hotel link after two failed attempts to locate a driver, at their price point, and arrived at the hotel at 1:30 AM; 1 1/2 hours after my flight landed waiting outside in the cold for over an hour. Management should know that Uber drivers are not going to accept a cheap bid at that time of day. Several other Uber pickups for other passengers took place while I waited. This is an unacceptable business model and I can not recommend anyone staying at The Residence Inn Grand Rapids Airport using the park and fly package.
- Matthew (4/5): No Actual Airport Shuttle Service - The "24/7 airport shuttle" is not an actual shuttle service. They just order you an Uber, which some might find appealing. We had a car seat with us and were arriving at 12:30am, after the onsite rental car companies close. For these reasons, we specifically sought out a hotel with 24/7 airport shuttle service. The other issue is that no Ubers were available at that time of night so we waited in the cold before we were ultimately notified that there were none available. I ended up paying $50 for a Lyft to take us 4 miles. When I said something to the front desk, they told me to contact the general manager about getting reimbursed. They never bothered to respond to me. Other issues include no linens for the the pullout couch which delayed sleep by another 20 minutes, as well as the room being set to AC when it was 40 degrees outside. Finally, my wife skimmed the pool because there were several large clumps of hair floating in the water. She received a thank you from multiple guests. There are plenty of better options south of the airport. I would recommend staying at any of them. This place does not deserve your hard earned $$. See photos for proof.

- carlt662 (2/5): Half-eaten food in our room on arrival - Management has no interest in Guest Experience - When we arrived in our room our dog found a half-eaten sandwich on the ground next to the bed. When I took the sandwich to the front desk I asked them to have the General Manager for the property contact me. At the end of our stay, as the General Manager had made no attempt to reach me, I asked to speak with her. After some time the General Manager came out from her office and told me that she had no idea how the sandwich was left in the room. She proceeded to tell me that the property is rated highly - but did not appear at all surprised that we found a half-eaten sandwich on our arrival. She really gave no indication that she cared at all - about our experience or that she could take any action to prevent other guests from having the same experience. She expressed no concern for their guest experience - none at all.

- Cenlo (10/5): A great stay became an amazing stay thanks to Mario!!! - Every now and then, you meet someone who’s simply an amazing human being. If you’ve ever had the chance to meet Mario, whether while checking into the hotel or passing him in the hallway, you’ll know exactly what I mean. He is one of the most genuine people I’ve ever encountered (or he deserves an Oscar if he’s acting!). We had a large group in town for a wedding, and Mario truly elevated the entire experience. I really hope management recognizes what a gem they have in him as a front man and rewards him accordingly. Absolutely amazing!

The hotel was conveniently located for us, however in the past I’ve never been overly impressed with Marriott’s Residence Inn brand. This place is an exception. In addition to being clean and well appointed, they have a beautiful patio, pool, inside gathering place and a full bar. The service and free breakfast was average, what you’d expect from a Residence Inn. But everything else was fantastic. If the opportunity presents itself, we will definitely stay again. Enjoy.

He was warm, gracious, and very informative. The woman that staffed the breakfast area was also excellent - everything was hot, refilled whenever necessary, and very clean! Great service! Room was fabulous and very clean too. Thank you!

- K3428WOdianef (10/5): Mario Martorana, the best hotel receptionist on the planet. - I have never in my entire life of traveling met anyone as exceptional as the hotel receptionist at the Residence Inn Grand Rapids Hotel. His name is Mario Martorana. He really went above and beyond in every way possible.He made us feel so welcome upon arrival with his delightful and enthusiastic personality. Mario personally arranged for an Uber for our very early morning flight. That next morning he went back into the kitchen and grabbed us breakfast food. Upon our return, he was helpful, personable and accommodating. He gave us a fabulous room which we were grateful for after such a long day. I couldn’t say enough positive things about Mario.

I felt discriminated against it was disgustingly unfair!

He even went out to shovel and salt the walkway from the back parking lot. Our room was cold, he brought keys up to us to allow us to easily move to the room next door. He is exceptional at delivering outstanding customer service and should be recognized! We will always stay here if given a choice!

They do not honor guaranteed late check-out and it definitely seemed like I was a bother to the manager when I asked. Don't hope for a nice upgrade either, not allowed by manager. The front desk staff here is amazing! So helpful and friendly, but the manager makes it clear she isn't in it for the guests at all. I love Mario and Lynn, but not sure how I feel about another stay at this hotel.

He is always going above and beyond. He genuinely loves his job! Every hotel needs a Mario! Our room was everything we needed and more. Housekeeping does an amazing job! The hotel is very clean! The pool and workout room are well kept. If you’re lucky enough to have breakfast when Adela is working, everything will be well stocked. She does a great job! The hotel was very busy, the breakfast area was clean and had a lot of options. Overall the hotel is a nice place to stay!

However, during this stay I had the PLEASURE of meeting Ms. Krisanne. Krisanne was not only rude, but mean and nasty. Ruined my stay. I will NOT be returning to this Marriott as long as Krisanne remains an employee here.

- Excursion25999932348 (10/5): Great Place for a Long Stay - This hotel is nestled in the forest without the usual traffic sounds. It was clean in our room. The breakfasts were excellent. My husband was surprised by all the options. The pool area was clean and we were able to do our laundry quickly (Uses a card only. $2.50 per wash and dry.). Overall, we were happy to stay for 5 days. The staff was also friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

- 185kenq (8/5): Excellen hotel - exceptional staff - Excellent hotel. It is situated in a quiet setting, setback from the main road, with restaurants and shopping nearby. Our 2 bedroom was clean and tidy and perfect for the 3 of us. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and maybe could use a boost. What makes this hotel standout is that all of the staff members are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I don't usually single out staff members as I've been asked at other hotels to highlight their staff in my review. In this case, though, I must say that Mario was exceptional, and was born for the hospitality industry. He is a true gem and made our stay just that much more enjoyable.

Jeremiah at the front desk was so friendly and welcoming it was like greeting a friend every day. Kim did a fantastic job keeping the breakfast buffet full and spotlessly clean. Housekeeping and the pool maintenance guy were also super nice. Great variety of hot breakfast options along with plant-based milk options. There's a small basketball court and walking path outside which is a nice alternative to the workout room. Other reviewers commented about the pool being cold, but it's probably around 82-84 degrees which is typical of public pools used by lap swimmers. It's "refreshing" for recreational swimmers but fine once you get used to it. Beware of the driveway entrance directions from Google maps, there is no left turn allowed there. If you're coming from that direction, turn at the light by the furniture store instead and use the frontage road. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars overall is because the pool deck wasn't entirely clean, the same bits of rubber sat there for a couple of days. We also fished an earring back off the bottom of the pool after stepping on it.

- Kevin (1/5): Save your money - How the management took their mistake out on me, which ended in the result of them, not allowing me to book another week of a stay because they screwed up. Couldn't handle using 2 different cards to pay for a room. Sure, sounds easy to me.. The fact they would not let me continue staying because of their mistake.And they still owe me $500, which has never been returned back to my card.Been 3 and a 1/2 week.S now looks like i'm gonna have to look up corporate to start making some moves.

- 343debk (10/5): Top Notch Hospitality! - I booked a room here for a last-minute trip to Grand Rapids with my two granddaughters. What a pleasant experience all around! The hotel was extremely clean, the pool was just right after a day at the zoo and the outdoor patio with comfortable furniture and a firepit were perfect! We even played a quick round of basketball on their small court; the desk receptionist gave the girls a basketball to use! The breakfast bar had a nice variety and the server/hostess was very attentive to the room of guests. The entire staff was kind, pleasant and helpful. They all went out of their way to make us feel welcome! I've stayed at a lot of hotels, and the Staff here is at the top of the list for hospitality!!
