Guest Reviews
- Maria Jose (6/5): - Ubicación excelente Baño y desayuno
- SONIA (9/5): - Me gustó la ubicación, la atención y las instalaciones .
- Robererrobi (8/5): -

- De La Cruz (7/5): -
- Irina (1/5): Disappointing - Never was able to check in I booked the hotel as my previous one got canceled. It was 23:30, I tried calling them but they never picked up. I went there and it was closed.
They reached out about an hour later when I’ve already found a different place to stay. Instead of cancelling the booking, they actually charged the money, even though I couldn’t check in because of them. Bad experience.
- Grace (8/5): Perfect for a short stay - Cheap for a private room and breakfast was included Old facilities but all working fine
- Taz (5/5): Cheap certainly - Friendly people, decent size room Wifi doesn't work in the room, mouldy bathroom with boiling water and the breakfast that aims to make you diabetic
- Juan (10/5): Comfortable with an excellent price -
- Audrius (3/5): Low cost but even lower quality for cost. - The only good thing its cheap. Otherwise, lacking even basic facilities. Dirty, not being cleaned till you depart, electric socket not functional so used the tv socket( the only one working in the room). There is basically nothing. Its not looking as advertised.
- Julia (5/5): Awful - Everything was awful. Dirty room, the shower was not working, the beds were dirty. Book somewhere else! The room and the bathroom were horrendous. Do not book this hotel!
- Siôn (8/5): Very good -
- Fiona (8/5): Good location value for money - Lovely gardens and reception area … staff good Bedroom very basic but we weren’t paying 5star prices…
- Martin (7/5): Good location , great staff , basic bkfst but that’s reflected in the price , very worn hostellerie - Location, Garden , pool Bathroom, Very worn ,
- Martha (2/5): Very poor -
- Fer (1/5): I didn’t sleep there and still they took my money . It’s a deesaster , I don’t recommend it AT SLL - The property was not appropriate to sleep I don’t recommend this hotel . I didn’t stay cause the place didn’t look good and the conditions were not good of the room and they didn’t give my money back . Very corrupt
- Jorge (10/5): Exceptional - It has all you need! And working properly! It's simple, old, but DELIVERS! There's nothing I didn't like. They also accepted my late CHECK IN after midnight, even being against their policy. Everybody was smiling and doing their best. If the place is simple, it doesn't matter. It has what you need. And it's CLEAN!
- Ionut (6/5): Pleasant -
- Delphine (1/5): Bad -
- Paloma (5/5): Passable - Comfy bed, good air con Really dirty bathroom with mold in the shower tiles. The shower had a electrical thingy above it, really dangerous if you ask me.
- Sophie (6/5): Exactly what to expect for the price - Friendly staff
Location Bathroom door was literally falling off and couldn’t be closed
Cleanliness was questionable and we had a sheet with holes in it
Basic breakfast
- Federico (5/5): Old and Tired - Location was good and quiet , within walking distance to restaurants shops casino etc
Breakfast was good
Also I must emphasize that I'm not reviewing this place to complain because the price was very cheap , I am doing it to remind people that you get what you pay for sometimes, do not expect luxury
For the price we paid it's great
Also I must mention that the power goes off often at iguazu on the argentinian side but does not affect the big hotels because they have generators It's old and falling apart, broken tiles, etc
We had to change rooms after one night
Second room was a little better
- Kirti (10/5): excellent place to stay in budget - very friendly & competent staff. We came from Buenos Aires by air & reached hostel at 11:30 pm but had no difficulty in checking in. In morning young girl at reception was super helpful. Breakfast was simply superb bathroom hot water tap was leaking
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Great value The breakfast had no veggies
- Anita (6/5): Pleasant - Location, comfortable bed, nice garden. Thin walls, having their on exchangerate way higher ( I complained and they adjusted it) than any other. Breakfast was not much.
- Maria (1/5): Bad -
- Pierre (2/5): NEVER AGAIN - Only the location, near to the center and bus terminal Altough we we'ren't expecting much of this place, but we had all this issues in 2 days:
- Door was open when we arrived, so a lot of mosquitoes and flies in the room
- Light was broken, the room was 50% dark
- We’re supposed to have a double bed, but they joined two simple beds that were constantly moving (have to give it to them, it does make it double lol 🤦🏾🤣)
-Toilet couldn't flush at all, ask them in the morning to fix it or change us room before leaving to Iguazu, when we get back the toilet was still not fix, so had to ask again at the reception to fix it, they decided to give us a new room which wasn't any better...
On top af all, we ended up having to pay more for the new room whitout any real explaination, except that " the boss told to charge us the new price "...
Oh, almost forget about the Wi-Fi and the breakfast, simply good luck...
- Lauren (4/5): Whilst location is perfect, the room and bathroom were unpleasant and disappointing. - The pool was nice and peaceful. The sun beds and surroundings of the pool were basic and a bit unkept. They could do so much more with it but it was a nice sanctuary.
The pillows were comfortable and felt fresh/replaced recently. The linens were clean.
Location was brilliant, right in the middle of the town and close to bus stop. The staff were a bit stand offish, we tried to communicate as much in Spanish as we could, but they were not very smiley or friendly. Very much just doing the transaction with no additional customer service.
The room was dingy and dark, no natural light at all. Even with the light on it was hard to see your belongings. The room is super small and cramped, which is fine for 2 nights.
The room had a weird smell, coming from the bathroom. The bathroom was not good, the shower curtain was falling off, it smelt, the toilet didn’t flush well, the sink was small and the bathroom mirror was broken and rusted.
The free breakfast had lots of options but was very unhealthy. All cakes and breads. There was some fruit which was great but no eggs or porridge or cereals if you wanted something that would actually fill you up. As someone who wants to find healthy options when travelling this was not available.
- Miyerla (1/5): Dangerous, no suitable for humans. - Only close to the bus station Unsafe, the room and bathroom full of black fungus. It was in the ceiling, walls, chair, etc. The ceiling has asbestos. The breakfast is only sweets.
- Udom (7/5): Quite and comfortable - Good location not far from bus station.
Many restaurants and convenient store nearby.
Staffs are good and helpful. Room is OK. No elevator.
Limit choice for breakfast.
- Claudio (1/5): Bad -
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Anahí (10/5): Cozy room in convenient location - The location was great as it was 2 blocks away from the bus terminal, you can find buses to different points of interest there. Clean and comfortable room. Unbeatable price.
- Laszlo (4/5): Disappointing - Breakfast buffet was better than average. The room was very, very dirty, and there was mold everywhere. Everything also reeked of mold, including all of our clothes after a 2-day stay there. Each and every metal item was rusty. The matrasses were horrible and saggy. The warm water was questionable and unstable.
- Pau (5/5): Passable - The hotel has a great location, only 200 mts from the bus station. Breakfast is OK, only sweets. I booked the hotel several months in advance, with the condition "pay in advance / non-refundable". I wanted to pay in advance but the price in USD needed to be converted into ARS and I should pay the difference at the time of my arrival, becoming more expensive in ARS. Because of this, I wanted to cancel and book in a different hotel. They didn't reply to my messages, didn't reply to the messages from the booking team and when finally they did it, they didn't want to cancel my booking.
It was a rainy season and there was water leaking in our room.
There was no WIFI in the room.
Every time we wanted to shower, we needed to request the receptionist to turn on the boiler.
- Carlos (8/5): Great hostel - Great price and location. Breakfast was ok. Hot water and AC is working great!!! Very nice hostel at a great price.
- AleksandraLP (8/5): jungle garden - Hosteria Los Helechos is located in a nice jungle garden. The room is simple but quite large, the bathroom is ok, the towels are clean. When we arrive there is no internet, fortunately, they fix it in the evening. There is a swimming pool on the premises which is a plus. And the location is good, close to bars and restaurants.
Breakfast is hopeless, the cookies and cakes are stale and old. We have to ask for everything, cutlery, jam and butter, i.e. margarine. The kitchen staff isn't polite.
- Maciej (8/5): Very good - Hosteria Los Helechos is located in a nice jungle garden. The room is simple but quite large, the bathroom is ok, the towels are clean. When we arrive there is no internet, fortunately, they fix it in the evening. There is a swimming pool on the premises which is a plus. Breakfast is hopeless, just the cookies and cakes that are stale and old. We have to ask for everything, cutlery, jam and butter, i.e. margarine. The kitchen staff isn't polite.
- Leonardo (8/5): Very good - Location, Breakfast, Price Pool
- Qiwen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Douglas (9/5): The location and the room are sufficient and perfect to enjoy everything that Iguazu has to offer. - Nice big place, located in the center of town, on the main avenue, and in a safe area. The breakfast is simple but delicious! It has some old things that could be replaced so they don't deteriorate.
- Kristijan (3/5): I would not recommend. Place needs a lot of improvement. - I liked location being very close to 3 borders and most restaurants in the area Stuff would answer No to almost anything I would ask for. Not even trying to help with anything. No iron, no hair dryer. Breakfast was very sad if anything, I mean rather charge little extra for it and offer at least one option for protein, besides all bread and carbs.
- Elina (8/5): Very good -
- Qiwen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emmanuel (8/5): Very good -
- Tuhin (9/5): Superb -
- Olaguibel (1/5): Much better places nearby. Don’t stay here. - No Wifi at the room. Front desk extremely rude.
- Shirong (5/5): Passable -
- B (8/5): Great value for money. Super setting and location - Location and atmosphere of setting. Bathroom could be updated/modernised
- Molly (7/5): Good - Basic but excellent value for money. Good breakfast, great location for bus station and fun surroundings with the courtyard garden! Poor view directly onto the street so had to keep the curtains closed, but it wasn’t a very busy street so ok for short stay. Clean bathroom but dark and very basic. Electric spark from the plug.
- Alexane (7/5): Good -
- Peter (5/5): Passable -
- Kwong (9/5): Valuable offer - Breakfast: everyday is the same, no egg/omelette to be served
Room:My room got 4 beds but I live alone. I was suprised, the value is very good. The lighting in the room and toilet is kind of dark.
- Randy (2/5): Do yourself a favor and find another location, spend a bit more. - The location was the only acceptable part. It was dirty. Not consistent with the photographs. Roaches in the shower and some kind of lizard in the window seal. It was impossible to spend a night there. We left to another hotel and lost our money.
- Monique (5/5): Passable -
- Martin (4/5): Disappointing - WiFi awful, not clean, air con bad
- Anastasia (9/5): Superb - The staff were polite. The location was very convenient.
- Erin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Douglas (7/5): Good -
- Władysław (4/5): Maybe other rooms better, but room 59 is bed. Pls fix everything! - 5 minutes away from the bus station!
Friendly personal! Air conditioner didn’t make any cold, just noise. I had to open the window, and it was dogs barking the whole night. There was not hot water in the shower.
- Dakota (8/5): Very good -
- Eliana (10/5): Exceptional - Nice hotel near the bus terminal and the center, nice pool
- Hon (4/5): I would say ** only, not good for seniors if you need to carry heavy luggage. - I like the beautiful green garden and the beautiful plants. The towels and bedding were not very clean, the Air conditioner is very old and noisy, no hair dryer, no hair shampoo provided. Breakfast is acceptable except no toaster and has flies over the bread. Staff is helpful. Shower curtain is plastic and water draining of the shower stall is not good, you need to use a broom to swipe the shower water down the sink. refer to above
- Ana (8/5): Very good -
- Bojan (8/5): Very good -
- Kasey (7/5): Comfortable enough - We only stayed one night while visiting the falls so it was good enough for the night :) Wish the staff were a little more helpful with getting us a taxi. It’s in an area that taxis aren’t driving by constantly. We asked the staff if they could get us one and they said no. Luckily we had the number of a driver we could contact on what’sapp who came and picked us up
- Davide (8/5): Very good - Nice garden and very quiet please, close to Omnibus station and some amenties. The staff, at least some of them, seemed to be very bored. Not really reactive when information was asked.
Breakfast is at 7am but before 7.30 you will not get anything. Room needed some maintence, swimming pool seemed a bit abandon.
- Patricia (5/5): Best part was the location. Though there are other places just as handy to the main hub. - Breakfast was typical toast, cakes, pastries, very little really healthy and supply ran out quickly.
Wifi was sporadic and no one was interested in fixing the situation.
Rooms were clean but very basic however location was good.
No one spoke English which was a bit of a problem when ordering taxi to airport. WiFi which is important to travellers booking the next bus/ accommodation etc.
Absolutely no service, it was very like a backpackers.
- Mathieu (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (5/5): Run down hotel, smelly bathroom - Location was good. Hotel was quite run down. Bathroom smelled of drains the first day. The second day the cleaning staff had obviously used a lot of bleach which improved things.
Checkin took forever and the guy behind the check-in desk seemed to be repeatedly taking photos of his pc screen and whatsapping them to someone. We were a bit early, so left our bags and came back two hours later upon which he asked us what room he'd given us as he had no record of it which led to more delays and whatsapping.
Swimming pool water wasn't very clear. Didn't appear to be any pool towels available.
- Valdez (8/5): Very good -
- Johan (7/5): Good -
- Melf (7/5): Good -
- Aknt7 (9/5): Superb - Great location, a few minutes walk from Foz do Iguazú station, and a good breakfast. The air conditioner is really old, as are the shower facilities. But overall it's usable.
- Doinita (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gwynneth (7/5): Good -
- Gwynneth (7/5): Good -
- Patrick (7/5): Basic hotel, well located, minutes away from the main bus station. Good value for money. - The location was good, short walk to the Bus terminal and restaurants. No hot water kettle in the room but hot water is provided at the reception area. Tip: bring a hot water flask. The shower area can be improved. Need a bedside lamp and powerpoint for telephone charger.
- Paula (8/5): The staff were very helpful. - The location was fantastic. The breakfast is just a whole out of bread products.
- Xu88 (5/5): Old and worn-out - The tropical garden and the quite place.
They calculated the price in US-Dollars to the official exchange rate of Argentinan Pesos, which was then OK from the price. The hotel insists of a check-in time at 3 pm althought the room were already ready.
The bathroom was really worn out and dirty. There were also bugs on the ground. The window in the bathroom was untight so that Moskitos fly in the hole night.
In the first room the hot water was not working and the lady at the reception search 1000 excuses until I showed it to her. Then she changed the room for me.
At the breakfast they had fruits, but very unfresh so that the flies were eating them all.
- Wojciech (6/5): Not far to the bus terminal - Breakfast accaptable, very good localization Staff speaks only Spanish, no word English
- Nathaly (9/5): Nice and worth the money - Location, tax service and the breakfast! The pool didn’t look properly clean
- Sophia (9/5): Superb -
- Paula (8/5): Very good - Location Location Location Breakfast
- Sarah (3/5): Poor - Good location for the falls Not clean
- Adrian (7/5): Good -
- Alberto (7/5): Good -
- Lz (8/5): Beautiful hotel to stay in Iguazú for those who aren‘t into luxury but love nature. - Perfectly located 3 minutes by foot to the Central Bus Terminal, beautiful garden with tropical plants. Good breakfast with pastries, fresh fruits, orange juice and coffee.
- Pravie (6/5): Overall a good budget stay, and good location. - The location was good, approx. 20min from the Iguazu National Park. Good if you're on a budget. The facilities were ok, got the job done. The breakfast was ok, the dinner menu didn't have much options and electricity went out twice for the night we were there like for an hour each time.
- Maxine (6/5): Pleasant - Great location. Beauty ambiance outside of room. Peaceful. Good price. Very friendly staff. A/C had to be repaired as it wasn't functioning. No hot water in shower. Dirty top blanket on bed. Broken light switch. Difficult door lock. No key card access as described. Room needs some TLC.
- Takahiro (5/5): Passable -
- Aelred (9/5): Superb - Nice No tables for breakfast as very busy
- Lodha (9/5): Superb -
- Lacy (5/5): The garden was pleasant - Breakfast was perfect No hooks or tables for clothes
- Rachel (8/5): Excellent budget option for staying over and going to Iguazu. - Excellent location, 5 mins from the bus station and restaurants. Fantastic value for money, especially as breakfast is included. The bed was very comfortable. Nothing!
- Christian (7/5): Good -
- JP_Vann2018 (6/5): An Average Accommodation Near Downtown Iguazù - I stayed at the Hosteria Los Helechos for 3 nights as part of a land package arranged by a local travel agency. The accommodation is basic, rundown and near downtown Iguazú. A short walk away from this hostel are restaurants, souvenir shops and a bus terminal. Currency Exchange is quite far but some souvenir shops will change your money if you ask.
The hotel seems famous to families. It was full when I stayed in March and many tour buses picked up guests in the morning.
I checked in night time and was given a room facing a garden, which I liked. However, when I reached the room, the door was left open and when I entered, found mosquitoes inside. The bathroom door knob was broken but when I reported, it was immediately replaced. The room is simple, dark and you can tell everything inside it needs some serious upgrading. The bed and pillows are uncomfortable. The linens look damp. The shower water pressure, however, is very good.
A simple breakfast is included and is served at your table. For the drinks, you have to help yourself at the counter. It is good and convenient that this hostel has a restaurant which is open until late night.
What is impressive about this hostel is their helpful staff. Even if some of them do not speak English, they did exert effort in answering my queries about directions, tours, food and places to see. They even arranged a taxi pick up and when I reported about the broken door handle, a maintenance staff came in less than 10 minutes to fix it.
Overall, it was still an OK experience staying at the Hosteria Los Helechos. I just hope they will renovate the rooms soon and put new beds for the comfort of their guests.
- Wyler (6/5): Pleasant -
- Richard (7/5): Slightly above the price range for what you get - Average room. Ancient air conditioner. Suitable for what was needed. Mildly indifferent staff. Did I mention the AC?
- Marc (6/5): Pleasant -
