Guest Reviews
- Peter (8/5): - Bed could have been softer. Other than that a great place
- Mikhail (10/5): - Perfect service. Good location.
- Gintaras (8/5): Hotel with a pool - Good hotel, clean room and bathroom. Quite spacious.
A bit of noise early morning when cleaning starts.
Towel provided by the pool free of charge.
The pool was good, but it is not very big.
- Cody (8/5): - Good hotel for the cost. Liked the location. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. We had an issue with the water in our room and the staff was great to seek solutions and in the end upgraded our room which was perfect for us and really met our needs.
- Terrance (10/5): Tranquil, comfortable and friendly - The hotel was excellent. My check in was very easy after a long flight and there was two bottles of water in the room so I could fall asleep. The room was good sized and the bed comfortable. The desk and a smaller desk with a stool were nice to have and demonstrates the size of this room.
I had the breakfast included and it’s a choice of three items. The best was the boiled rice and chicken soup. Very delicious I also had the eggs and toast which were cooked fresh. Watermelon was served every day. Perhaps the the best part was the service in the restaurant. They all worked hard!
The location of the hotel has everything and being at the end of a street it was quiet. I heard maybe one or two planes in the distance and no traffic noise. It was extremely quiet but occasionally a door would slam which was not a problem unless late at night.
The room cleaning staff also worked to keep my room clean. I only needed a cleaning twice during my stay but water was always available and can be replenished daily.
The internet was fast but the code system does hinder the connection. I had to renter the code a number of times which isn’t a big deal as the speed was impressive. Connection was facilitated by getting a new code. Easy solution.
It was raining for most of my stay so I didn’t use the pool. It looked very lovely. The property has such a nice energy to it and I loved the soothing music always playing in the lobby and restaurant. I felt at peace here.
- Loo (8/5): - Reception got good and got bad one,not friendly
- Alison (10/5): - Close to everything but down a quiet street. Room clean and comfortable. Room was quiet - never heard other guests, but we saw lots at breakfast. Convenient to pay for good but inexpensive breakfast when we wanted it. Staff very helpful.
- Ernest (10/5): - Very clean with excellent and friendly employees. Restaurant was excellent also.
- aim (8/5): - Great location, right in between the old town and a mall/market. Nice spacious rooms with wardrobes and fridges and balcony. Nice bed and pillows. Cleaning service every day with fresh water. Nice staff and lovely pool, shame that the pool isn't in the sun all day. Nice gym here too although I have to say we didn't use it once. The hotel needs to do something about mosquitoes here, lots and lots in the halls, and rooms are left open when not used meaning they go and hide in there.
We stayed a week and had so many bites just from the room.
- dave (8/5): - Overall pretty good stay. Room was big and clean and the AC worked well. The walls are a bit thin so you do hear noise next to you and above you, but apart from this the room was great and a good value for your money.
- M C (10/5): Great Pool great breakfast. - Very nice welcome by the reception staff in nice bright lobby. Great room where we had been upgraded spacious clean and bright nice bathroom. Walkable to centre of Chiang Mai and restaurants. You'll need a cab to get to station or airport
Very very good breakfast and lovely restaurant staff. The pool is a godsend after tramping the hot streets. Overall a great place to stay. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - + In-between Nimmen and Old City.
- At quiet side of Old City, need tuk tuk to main Old City gate entrance.
- Lai Man (8/5): Cp value is good - Location is close to Maya mall and Nimmin road. Easy to shopping.
Low price breakfast is good.
Swimming pool is good.
Room is not bed.
C/p value is good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location is good. Very basic facilities.
- Lim (10/5): - Staffs are friendly and hotel is cosy. Hotel is quite, nice place for relax.
- Julie (10/5): So Clean! - The place was so clean! It is probably the cleanest hotel I stayed in during the two week trip in Thailand. It is a walking distance to the Maya Mall which is nice. I highly recommend it if you would like to stay in the area.
- EF (10/5): Lovely! - Wonderful, affordable hotel. Staff were so pleasant, especially the restaurant staff. Pool area was lovely. My only gripe was that no alcohol was allowed in the restaurant or public areas. We do love a beer or glass of wine with our meal. The food was delicious and cheap, so were there most evenings..Location was perfect for us
- S (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice pool area, but fitness facilities are lacking. Most of the equipment was out of service or simply didn't work. However, the rest of the hotel was great. And again, staff were always available and ready to help. Clean rooms, great room service.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice size rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy check in/out.
- Linn (10/5): Good! - Good, quiet place in the middle of many sweet-spots in CM
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The chair of swimming pool should not cover with shutters will be better!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Did not know it is a Muslin Hotel, so I could not get a cold beer in the afternoon. Also no bacon for breakfast, which was not a big deal. No Alcohol at all.
- Heidi (8/5): Great hotel - already back for our second stay! - Sakulchai Place Hotel is a great place to stay near Nimmanahaeminda Road and MAYA Shopping Center, and not too far from the old city/Sunday Walking Street. It has large, quiet rooms with high ceilings, comfortable beds, and decent water pressure/heat. The pool area is a bit small but does the trick to cool you off during hot summer days. There is a small gym (no AC inside), and the onsite restaurant has fair prices. Only complaint about the hotel is the wifi is extremely annoying: they give you these internet cards with usernames and passwords that expire constantly. If you put your phone down and let it lock, you have to re-login to the web. I don't understand the purpose of having such terrible wifi but I guess there is a reason. Anyway, aside from this annoying feature, the wifi is pretty good for SEA standards. (Oh, also, very standard for SEA but the key needs to be in the room to allow the AC/lights/electricity to work, so you can't leave anything charging while you are out, or keep the room cool. But, I support wanting to save energy 100%, just different than most hotels in the US).
- William (10/5): Best hotel - Perfect
- Keith (10/5): - This place is amazing! Stewart from the restaurant was an excellent host and looked after our every need. Can’t fault the long hours Stewart put in to make our trip the best it could be.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent value for the money good location and spacious
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Sakulchai Place hotel is a great property for a moderate priced hotel in Chiang Mai with a great swimming pool, parking and a restaurant. The wifi worked great the entire time no matter where you were, and the food is good.
The hotel does not serve alcohol or have a bar to speak which was fine with me, but for those looking for that you would have to go someplace else.
THe hotel is on a quiet street but very close to city transportation and large shopping center that has a great grocery store as well as other items like electronics, services, clothes, etc.
I would say ideal. And I stayed for quite awhile.
- LarryandDebbie (8/5): - Apart from the shower. We enjoyed our stay Would recommend this hotel for short stays. Location is close to everything. Within walking distance to two major malls
- Alex (10/5): Stay here - Great hotel. The room was light and airy and very spacious. The friendly and helpful. Would absolutely recommend!
- Steve (8/5): Very Good - We stayed as a family in two double rooms. Spotlessly clean, good breakfast buffet, friendly staff and nice pool to cool off. The only slight downside is location - its quite a walk to the old city area with most of the main tourist sights. There is however, restaurants nearby and its not expensive to catch a ride into the old city area.
- Laura (8/5): - Good WiFi. Great location. Walking distance to two malls, theaters and food court.
- Gillian (10/5): - Love this hotel. Third time we've stayed there. Excellent location. Quiet laneway but close to everything. Lovely staff. Room service meals are delicious and very cheap! Cold air con. Spacious comfortable rooms and really great value. Highly recommend staying here.
- Mark (10/5): 2 night stay trip - The swimming pool and location are perfect for me. The staff are friendly and welcoming and will help with any questions or sightseeing plans. This was my second stay after a few years so I had no hesitation in booking another stay.
- ian (10/5): Brilliant hotel in good area. - Great hotel in my favourite area in chiang mai. Big room and good swimming pool. Only issue I'd like to raise is on top of the wardrobe never been cleaned. I put my bag on top and was very dirty. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good option for quiet stay - Overall a good experience. Housekeeping could’ve been better...often didn’t replace amenities. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Food at restaurant was very disappointing. Pool area was very nice although sometimes lounge chairs were all taken. Overall a good option; clean and reasonably priced.
- Eddy (10/5): Family stay - Good n convienent location between Maya shopping and Kad Suen Kaw shopping. Quiet away from main road.
- samuel (10/5): Great location for exploring - This is the second time I have stayed here , the hotel facilities are fantastic for the price. Nice pool , gym and the Restaurant meals are great for under 100bh for breakfast etc.
Staff are so friendly and the hotel is located in a great area to explore or catch a Taxie to go further.
Cannot fault the staff in any way will be staying again next time we visit my girlfriends family
- William (8/5): - What is good: location, between old town and probably the trendiest new parts of town (Nimman); friendly, helpful staff; onsite restaurant, good food, reasonably priced; set back off main road, so quiet; good pool; adequate internet; rooms well sized. Not so good: lot of hall noise.
Overall, however, an outstanding value in this price category.
- Li (10/5): Nice stay - It was good, clean and nice, they have swimming pool which is good to relax during a hot day and even work out machine in a small gym.Their restaurant quite cheep and having good choice of food( at least on the pictures, I had only breakfast). The choice of TV channels is great comparing to other hotels. Location has local food near by to offer, to center of the city bit of far, but you can enjoy absence of noise. Rooms are bright with a good taste for furniture, new and shiny, I loved the stay.Oh and the staff allowed to check in earlier to me.
- SEONG YONG (8/5): Breakfast should be prepared more items - It is ok to stay
- DANIEL (10/5): None Nicer for the Bhat - Out of the busy hussle and bussel!!! Great security and great parking. Bed is new! Bathroom small but ok!!! Nice Coffee Shop in Hotel! Very Nice inheated Pool!
- Danimal (8/5): First trip to Chiangmai - Doubt this place on Expedia...~$26USD a night before taxes....which was about $30~$40 less than anything similarly rated with any amenities in Nimman area. Arrived a bit hesitant and was quite pleased. The room was nice, free breakfast and pool/exercise facilities.
All the taxis (red trucks) knew the place well and nimman was still within easy walking distance (1+km/10 minutes). I don’t mind walking so for me to save $120+ over three nights more than paid for all the massages/food/excursions I had during my trip. 120 baht/15 minute red truck ride from the airport...if I ever find myself in CM again...and the rates are comparable I would definitely stay here.
- Matthew (8/5): - I only stayed one night so can't say too much as I was normal the hotel too much. The pool looked nice though.
- Thomas (8/5): Just what you need - Clean, comfortable accommodations in s convenient area. The pool is a nice bonus for a hotel at this budget price. Rooms are large.
- Bruce (8/5): nice pool and quiet street - restaurant very good and pool quite nice. quiet neighbourhood north of hotel
- Philip (8/5): Good Value 3* Hotel - The hotel is to the North west of the Old City and well placed for most things. 15 minutes from the airport, the reception desk were friendly and efficient for check in and with all enquiries. Rooms were reasonably equipped although my room didn't have a safe which would have been welcome. The cafe/restaurant was well priced and the man in charge was really friendly and ready to help. The pool was refreshing (!) and a good enough size to swim in, it was a shame most of the exercise equipment didn't work in the fitness studio. Location to the Old City was reasonable walking distance, took me 15 mins max to walk to the closest gate. As a 3* hotel it met every sensible expectation, the only things I would like to see improved are guest safes in all the rooms and soft close features on all the room doors as when people came home late/went out early the banging of the doors echoed through the hotel.
- lucy (10/5): Great hotel - Short walk from city walls. Nice and quiet. Nice pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely go back. I can't comment on food as i didn't eat there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): I recommend Sakulchai - It was a nice stay. Just the basic room but comfy bed. But mosquito spray is needed before check in or everytime they clean. But overall I'm happy with my stay
- April A. (8/5): Cheap price but nice place - Nice and clean hotel with swimming pool . Basic hotel but comfy bed.
Just need to spray mosquito killer after cleaning the room or before check-in.
Over all I'm happy with my stay.
- Jared (8/5): Great option close to Old Town - I stayed for 5 nights in September. Had a great time. The hotel is well-placed not too far from the old town. Hotel was nice and clean and my room very nice. Hotel staff were very friendly. The pool was an excellent place to relax.
The only reason that I didnt give it an 'excellent' rating is that every morning I was woken up by a rooster at 5am a street ot two away. It would make rooster noises for nearly 2 hours! Off course this wasn't their fault, but it certainly detracted from the experience.
- carl (8/5): Enjoyed - Very good place-not extra fancy but clean and very comfortable-this place is a keeper !!!
- Jose Vicente (10/5): An oasis where to spend your days by the pool - Great customer service, rooms, wifi, hip area to eat out and gorgeous pool with delicious menu
- Clarence Tham (8/5): Nice stay. - The room is nice and cozy. Staff are friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was very good. Good location. Why do you keep asking me to put more information. There's nothing more to say.
- John (6/5): Out of date, but great location. - We booked this hotel as a last minute decision when driving into Chiangmai after dark. The best thing about it is it's location. It's right between the newer, fast growing north part of the city with huge new shopping malls and right at the corner of the old city wall with temples, markets and eateries. The room is very spacious, but it's old and in bad need of an update. The shower was definitely not very great. Overall for the money and the location, it's worth a stay.
- Rog (10/5): Nice hotel away from the center of Chaing MaI - Nice place up a quiet alley in Chiang Mai. Don't let the word alley throw you. It's a lovely place in an otherwise busy commercial district. Being 400 feet up the alley, put it into the quiet zone, so one never hears the traffic going by. The night market is about 15 minutes away in the red truck communal bus for 30-40 Baht, depending on what the driver's mood is. Don't use a taxi, or they'll ream you. The pool is sparkling clean, altthough a bit on the small side. Love the 2 outdoor showers by the pool. Downside: Signs display: no alchohol, but we snuck beers into the pool anyway (but don't try it on the train). Great staff, always friendly and helpful and they do a super job keeping the place clean.
- Kamala (10/5): Cosy, clean and comfy place - Staff were very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff are so hardworking and keeping our rooms neat and tidy. It's in a quiet place and snug in the corner so you don't hear traffic noises yet it's quite central and only 10 mins walk to Maya shopping mall. Loved staying at this clean and happy place.
- wendy (8/5): Great place looks just like the website and clean! - This place is just like the pictures on the website. The rooms are in good order with very nice fine cotton sheets and are comfortable - pillows were a bit too big and there was only one per guest - two smaller ones would have been great. The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage space if you intend to stay more than a few days. They do monthly as well as daily rates. The small sitting nook with table and two chairs and a fridge was a real plus and you can have the window opened if you ask. There is a lovely pool which was very clean and well maintained, The breakfasts were definitely ok for 80Bt and dishes and coffee were kept topped up and fresh. Laundry service available by the Kg and reasonable. The staff at this place are exceptional many spoke several languages and they were really eager to please. I was very impressed! There is a small walk from the hotel to Huay Kaew road but this is along a quiet soi so very pleasant also the distance from HK meant it was relatively quiet. Easy to get to places to eat and shopping areas. I will be back to stay here.
- Kat (8/5): Comfortable, but not without its issues - On arrival, we found the safe locked. We called reception and were asked to wait 20 minutes. An hour later we gave up and went out to enjoy our day. The safe was still locked when we left 5 nights later.
Generally anything you need from staff will take a while, and the breakfast is pretty dodgy. The pool is nice but gets a lot of shade in the afternoon when you really want to use it. The gym is somewhat lacklustre.
All that said, the location is brilliant and as it's set back off the road you get less noise than at other central hotels. It's clean and we had no real problems throughout our stay. Highly recommend the laundry opposite the hotel as well - the lady there is super nice, and very honest.
- Sonny (4/5): Bad pillow caused strain neck. - Pillow not situable as it was too high, caused neck discomfort for me and wife. Breakfast was not good. I requested for garden or pool view but they gave me car park view. It was indicated during time of booking that balcony is inclusive but was denied. Checking in was very bad as they do not have my bookings and indicated later that breakfast was not included. During booking it was highlighted that breakfast is included.
- Gary (6/5): Good value - Decent hotel in a quiet area, nice staff.
- Ronny (8/5): An ok budget hotel - The hotel is average no wow factor, but that's normal for this price range. The staff is great, room is clean but older. There was a strange smell in our bathroom and the shower there's no hot water. Overall an alright experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel close to the mall - We stayed Chiang Mai for three days and choose the hotel close to the mall and restaurants. Not a bad location.
- Lorna (10/5): Great hotel with pool and workout room - We stay in this hotel every time we go to Chiang Mai. It is within walking distance of a mall and the inner city moat.
We love the workout room and can swim laps in the pool for exercise as well as walk the back streets.
- Rob (8/5): So nice, we've stayed there twice - Great hotel. Very nice, clean, modern rooms. Helpful staff (they let us keep our bags in their luggage room for a week while we did the Mae Hong Son loop). The pool is inviting too; we spent a lot of time there! The only drawback is that the hotel is kinda far from a 7-11 and while you can walk to the Nimman neighborhood, it's not close enough that you'll want to do it all the time. Overall though, very nice hotel outside of the Old City; we stayed there twice.
- Dariusz (10/5): Good place - Well maintained place. I enjoyed my stay there.
- Creighton (10/5): Loved My Stay - Clean place and courteous staff. We upgraded to the corner suite and the extra room was worth the few dollars a night. By being off the road a little the place is super quiet at night. The main road is close: Turn left and walk towards (or get a cheap tuk tuk ride) to Old Town. It City (the Mall) has a nice night market for cheap eats Thurs-Sat. Turn right and go to Maya Mall (great workspace called CAMP there) which is on Nimman Rd. There are a lot of great cheap restaurants tucked back in Nimman Rd. Very happy with the location. (Note: Skip paying for the breakfast. Better food with greater variety is close by).
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very friendly staff and easy to get around. Hard beds but fairly clean. Would stay again.
- Albert Lynn (8/5): - Nice hotel. A little off the beaten path but I enjoyed my stay.
- Barry (8/5): Great traditional hotel - The hotel was very traditional which was impressive. Staff were amazing. Room was average but we booked one of the cheapest and still good value
- Teck Wah (8/5): Convenient, Clean & Quiet hotel - A nice budget hotel situated at a quiet place from busy main road.
Check in early evening with welcoming staff at reception counter.
In the process of administration works, two glasses of chilled refreshing drinks were presented to us as a little welcome surprise.
Received room keys in less than ten minutes.
Hotel staff was helpful when I had difficulty with charging my mobile phone due to different socket, assisted to temporary loan a compatible battery charger for charging my mobile phone when seeking for assistance.
Greatly appreciated for such added service which was not in the"menu" !
Have ample car parking space with eating restaurant at the lobby.
Five minutes walk to main road.
Good WIFI connection.
Nice spacious room with two bottles of complimentary mineral water, washing soaps, towels & toilet paper.
Didn't have much views from the room as was staying on level 2 facing the rear which was surrounded by natural vegetations.
Considered as worth the money spent.
Definitely shall consider booking this hotel when visiting Chiang Mai again in the future.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - i had a very nice 2 week stay here. nice and quite, great food and very friendly and helpful staff. i would definitely stay here again.
- Adam (8/5): Good value, friendly and comfortable. - I stayed for 2 nights and found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean, modern and comfortable and the surrounding area has enough places to eat, 7/11, a shopping mall and market are all within easy walking distance. Although the main town is a few kilometres away, it can be easily reached by a short trip on the small red bus/taxi. There is an excellent laundry right outside the hotel (very reasonably priced too !) and bicycles and motorbikes can be hired next to that. I didn't use the pool or restaurant, but they both appeared to be perfectly fine to me.
- Tony (6/5): Convenient, quiet and basic - I booked a Deluxe or Superior room. The "best." It was not. It did not look like the picture of the room I booked. There were several problems that and things just were not 'right.' There was 6 months (or more) worth of dust behind the credenza and television. Bottom line, I was very disappointed. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They did move me to a different room. After that, the rest of my time was good. I would probably stay there again because of the convenience, overall comfort, etc. I was in Chiang Mai to visit old friends, not to spend my time in a hotel.
- Lorna (8/5): Quiet with nice pool and exercise room - We stay here when we visit Chiang Mai. We like the pool and exercise room and the quiet location. The staff were helpful when I sprained my toe with ice in a bag. We will return.
- Joe Friday (8/5): Clean and Spacious - Rooms are big, clean airy. Coffee / tea making facility. Decent TV options but bathroom a touch on the small side. Otherwise great value for money. I'm not a gym person so can't comment but it was well used during my 2 day stay. Car access can be a pain because of the one way traffic flow in the streets running by the hotel access soi.
- philip (10/5): Visit Here - Amazing service. Thanks
- stephen (6/5): - Lobby was nice. Bathroom not good at all. They clean rooms to late in day.
- Shadeh (8/5): - My only complaint was that the shower didn't get hot. Everything else was great.
- Maryvonne (8/5): - We spent a couple of nights there and although it is not close to the historic district, there are plenty if dining options and we walked to the old city from the hotel ( approx 1.2 kms)
The staff at the hotel restaurant where we had breakfast was really very very nice.
We enjoyed the good size swimming pool and the large size bedrooms.
- susanna (8/5): - I stayed 2 nights here. The pool was inviting and refreshing. I did now eat breakfast in the dining area, but did later get a fruit smoothie in the evening, and it was delicious! Room was fairly clean, though the sheets were a bit threadbare. Air conditioning worked great.
- Joey and Jerr (6/5): Good hotel, poor location - Nice room. Poor location, trains close and there's a small mall about a kilometre away.
- Mark (8/5): Nice good value hotel - Staff was nice.
Room was nice.
Bathroom was a little small but was fine.
Free breakfast was good but not fancy.
Wifi worked well
Enjoyed my stay and would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly and caring staff - The staff was very accommodating to our needs. We were bed ridden due to an accident and the staff was helpful. We asked for extra items and everything was given to us.
- Elizabeth (8/5): best value and stay in chiang mai - we enjoyed the hotel very much. the staff was super friendly and helpful. the room was big and comfortable. hallways were a bit noisy, but that is because of the other people staying there and not the hotel's fault.
- Norberto (10/5): Bobby & Emi's stay - Sukulchai was one of many stays for us in Thailand and it was one of the best. The staff really took care of us. From laundry services to booking tours to calling a cab for us so we could make our flight on time. The staff was among the best we'd encountered in all of Thailand. Even the restaurant manager got to know us a bit and even helped out with a seltzer water when my wife got food poisoning. I would definitely stay with them again.
- paolo (10/5): - Great experience. Friendly and helpful staff, great location, very nice hotel. Super quality price. Take it
- Tony (8/5): Good hotel with pool. - A little out of the way but quiet location within 10 minutes walk of two shopping centers.
Good breakfast available for 80 Baht.
Exceptionally clean with very helpful staff.
- David (6/5): Good for the price - Good for the price.
- John (6/5): Good for the price - 3 day stay in Chiang Mai. The hotel is good for the discounted price. Rooms are big but outdated, wifi kept loging out every few minutes, you probably need a scooter to get to the main street where all the resraurants and stores are located. Breakfast is average with only one waiter serving all the tables (very slow).
- Martin (8/5): Good value on the edge of the old city. - Conveniently situated down a quiet Soi off the main Huay Keow Road. It is a little out of town but that is no bad thing. It allowed easy access to public transport, some nice little restaurants and one of the major shopping plazas. I found the room a bit gloomy as a bulb had gone in one of the ceiling light fittings and also above the bed - it took a few days to get them fixed. However, the room was spacious and quite comfortable. The bathroom was a little Spartan but had an effective electric shower. Breakfast was not included in the room price and had to be bought separately. Overall it was good value for money.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel clean safe - Good hotel 20 minute walk to old city
Comfortable room nice pool shopping mall restaurants very close
Very friendly and accommodating staff
Very worth while for price
- Peter (8/5): Off-centre Chiang Mai hotel - We booked 4, stayed 5 nights. Thai/Brit friends checked it for us, agreed our online choice from reviews. Slightly out of centre location was deliberate, since they picked us up for tours. Otherwise tuk-tuks or shared taxis were quick. Old Town 20 mins walk. Laundry across the lane is superb, cheap. Bike rentals too. Pool is cool, but quiet and swimmable for hardy souls.
It's a muslim hotel, so no public drinking, but their juices & smoothies are excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Neighborhood - Stayed 3 weeks and enjoyed it very much. The staff were great. The room was comfortable. The pool was clean. We didn't use it much because the weather was cool to actually cold. The location is good. Some nice local restaurants nearby. Corner Bistro, K's Kitchen, Croco's Pizza, Salsa Kitchen Pern's Restaurant were all good. Small House Bar was fun. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel within walking distance to the Old City - Good location, walkable distance to the Old City, friendly and helpful staff.
Very limited choice at breakfast
- David (8/5): A Friendly and handy hotel - I picked Sakulchai Place from many on offer, and upon my arrival, it was a pleasant surprise to find that, the hotel was just as described. (few are) The reception was warm and welcoming, and the room has a nice layout, with a table and chairs in a suntrap, a full size fridge and freezer. The bed is comfortable, and the shower/toilet room adequat.
The room was spotless, the floors throughout the hotel shine. and cleanliness is noticeable. The room chap/girls, do a wonderful job. and change everything, everyday. If you find the pillows too hard, and too large, as i did, just ask for a smaller, softer pillow, no problem.
The one thing i will add, that you might find helpful, the owner of the hotel is a Muslim, and does not allow alcohol to be sold at the hotel, i couldn't find this anywhere in the write up, so be warned. There is no problem having it in your room.
They have a good NO smoking policy in place, however, so people abuse this, and on the 4th floor landing smoke can be smelled yesterday and this morning, it has entered my room, it is comming from room 411.
Rules are only good, if they are enforced.
- Jim (8/5): Chaing Mai travels - Very comfortable relaxing stay, the humidity is a lot lower than Bangkok and very comfortable. 1st time in Chaing Mai, nice aquarium and zoo, and rent a scooter to take in the temple on the mountain. Continue up the same road past the zoo. On the way back the water falls is a nice stop for a hike and lunch.
- Samantha (8/5): Great location and friendly staff - Location was probably the best thing. It's between two shopping centers and a short walk to the old city. Yet it's down a side street so nice and quiet. There were a few restaurants on the main road towards the old city for lunch and dinner if you didn't want to venture far.
The room was spacious but the bathroom is quite basic.
It was advertised as 50% off and it's definitely not worth the original price. US$30-40 is probably a good price...
- Mark (8/5): Nice choice - Good hotel in a good location, quite with good restaurant (although no alcohol served, you could byo). Helpful friendly staff. Only drawback is a cold pool - probably good in summer.
- Sonia (4/5): Bad Bathroom - Rooms were big however the bathrooms were small with the shower next to the toilet. There was minimal luke warm water and leaks in the bathroom sink and water always over the bathroom floor making it difficult for children to use the toilet. Very old hotel which felt more like a hostel. Staff were friendly but the reception staff did not go out of their way to be helpful. Only positive was a great laundry service across the road. Location was between 2 shopping malls but if returned would not stay in this area again as you need to taxi with children everywhere.
