- Krystal (10/5): Great base for exploring Kyoto. - The location of this hotel is perfect. Coming from KIX, the airport bus stops on the opposite side of the road so you only need to cross. There are numerous conbini within a 5-7 mins walk and Kyoto bus and main train station are just as close by. The staff here were pleasant and helpful when I needed to ship my luggage to Tokyo. A couple of areas to improve though, behind the TV was very dusty (I had a Chromecast that I wanted to plug in but didn't in the end), bathrooms need toilet brushes and there should be a mechanism to override and remove clothes if someone has left their laundry in the machine. My biggest gripe was there are 4 machines in each of the laundry rooms (2 in the main building and 1 in the other)..the hotel caters to a large number of people so it's very selfish when someone leaves their washed and dried laundry in a machine for 91 mins (it poss was slightly more but when I checked a while later it had been removed). As you lock the door with a unique 4 digit number , reception are unable to do anything. It would be helpful if the system was changed to asking for room numbers (over a unique set of numbers)or your key card was used to beep and secure the machine. This would enable reception to trace people and call them. It seems ridiculous that reception can not do anything ! It was quite annoying as esp when other machines are in use
- Sitson (10/5): - We found this place to be our best stay other than the washroom (explain below). We stayed 8 nights. It was ultra convinent and about 2 mins to Shinkansen gate for our day trips from Kyoto. Right below the entrance is a 7-11 to pick up snacks and drinks before heading back for a good night's rest or on the go in the morning. The other two things that really shone for us were the cleaning staff and how meticulous they were at cleaning and you become spoiled, as were so disgusted the moment we arrived to our Tokyo hotel seeing grime and mildew. Next what we thought was amazing were their Japanese breakfast buffet. Great quality and variety compared to the 3 hotels we stayed in Kyoto from past trips. Beds and pillows were comfy and we fell a sleep non problem every night (our room did face the interior so no view and no traffic noise). Now the one caveat is the washrooms are small! I wonder if the future renos (noted for 2026) will fix that. Toilet faces a wall with about 1.5' of leg room at most. If you're over 5' 10" you may find find it crampy (literally) as my son experienced. We made use of the laundry facility that was convinent and browsed manga from their library. We never found time to use their spa though I did see a lot of guests go, not our thing after a hot summer day. Definitely return to this hotel in future for the convinence to Kyoto station, cleaniness and amazing breakfast buffet.

- JAMES (8/5): Kyoto: fantastic city, very nice hotel. - The stay at the hotel was great, Kyoto is wonderful. The hotel's location is fantastic, directly across form the airport bus depot. Th breakfast buffet is well stocked and offers some nice local options. The only problem was that we had three people, and the double room was turned into a triple by putting an extra bed in. We cold not easily move in the room. Staff was friendly and nice. I would stay here again if we had one or two people.

- Ibis (8/5): - It’s a basic hotel with a nearby metro station, which makes it very convenient for visiting Japan. The breakfast is very good, with local food. I loved the public bath, very spacious and equipped with all the comforts. The only thing they should improve is allowing early check-in, even if it comes with a fee, like other hotels do, so guests can explore the city with peace of mind.

The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and professional – always ready to assist with a smile. The room was spotless, spacious (considering Japan standard) with every comfort thoughtfully provided. The location is perfect – close to everything we needed, yet quiet and peaceful at night. We also loved the breakfast: fresh, delicious, and with a great variety to suit all tastes. The hotel’s amenities were top-notch, and every detail showed a high level of care and quality. Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended, and we will definitely return! Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so special.

Very convenient and stress free. Short walk to the station. We’ll definitely stay here again when in Kyoto. Highly recommended.
- Gisella (6/5): - Hotel is clean. Close to station. Rooms and bathrooms are very small. Other people might prefer a hard bed. I have a bad back and woke up with a terrible back pain from the bed being so hard. The pillows are also very hard. Check-in and out is all electronic and feels impersonal, although staff is there to assist with any questions and most of them speak some basic English that allows some sort of communication.

- PRISCILA (10/5): - Very clean, great amenities like spa, option to dine and coin laundry. They also have coun changer. The laundry has an app so you can watch and wait in your room. You set up your pin code so you’re the only one who can access the machine. Very affordable but good quality.
- joseph (6/5): - I spent one night here due to the proximity of Kyoto station. Property was decent for the most part. Property was very clean and near places of interest. A few important things about the room. Outlets are 2 pronged, so that could be problematic. My biggest concern was access to electricity. In order to power the room you had to insert your key card and leave it there. When inserted power came on and when removed it went off. The problem with this is to turn of the lights you had to remove the card, that in turn shut off electricity to outlets. This made it impossible to charge any electronic devices, very odd set up.

It’s conveniently near bus stops coming from International airport and tour buses as well as the train station. Nearby a convenience store. And if you want to dine-out, there are lots of them at the train station including McDonalds in which you won’t miss on your way to the hotel. Will definitely recommend to family and friends. - Darlene (10/5): - Hotel Elcient is located across from the East exit of Kyoto station. The location is so convenient with lots of shopping, dining and tourist sites close by. Its so easy to get around Kyoto with it's location so close to Kyoto station (once you familiarize yourself to the station). Make sure to spend time at Kyoto Station as it's so beautiful with rooftop garden, views, restaurants, shopping, light shows etc. The rooms are clean, spacious (for Japan standards) and have great amenties. The onsen is excellent and the breakfast buffet is plentiful with both Japanese and Western options. The staff are hard working and very friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.

Very convenient. Highly recommend for people who rely on local public transport to travel around Kyoto. Definitely will come back again.

- Howard (10/5): - Very clean and quiet. Nice place to rest your head while you’re not doubt getting 30,000 steps trying to walk all the temples around the area. Gets the job done and is very simple. I couldn’t figure out how to work the fan in the bathroom so I had to open the window and do some funny business with the fan in the room but overall its a great place to rest your head for the night.
- Zaquavius (8/5): - We booked this hotel for the convenient location for the ease of transportation and nearby food choices. AMAZING staff. It is true that they will store your luggage for free, if you desire, after checkout. Breakfast was awesome, especially the Matcha lattes. Quiet even though across from the train station. Our efficiently laid out room faced the parking lot but we didn't hear any cars throughout the night or morning. The spa was refreshing, and there is a a TV information channel that tells you when the restaurant or spa is crowded, full, or under occupied. Strong wifi throughout the building. Be aware that the elevator doors close very quickly, we are fast walkers but it was faster.
- Chee Peng (6/5): - Bathroom is super tight. Room tv program is limited mostly Japanese. Reception staff is not friendly, don't smile or greet. Hotel location is superb and near amenities.

- Mei Xing (10/5): Great location but room is very small. - Room is very small. Location is best. 7-11 is just beside it. Airport Limousine Bus from Osaka Kansai Airport drop off is just across the road. Save the trouble of finding your way in the huge Kyoto station. The public bath is an interesting experience for foreigners.

My room was clean and comfortable. I very much enjoyed the Japanese Spa at the hotel after a full day exploration in Kyoto.

- Travis (10/5): - Thanks to the staff at Hotel Elcient for a wonderful stay. We spent 4 nights there recently and were pleased with the service from the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. It is right outside Kyoto station which made it a great spot to explore the city via public transit. The room was small ( a consistent theme in Japan), but clean. Daily housekeeping took care of all our needs. The complimentary use of pajamas while we were there was a nice touch. We did not use the Japanese spa, so I can’t review that. There is a 7/11 outside the hotel which was convenient for light snacks and any other needs. And the 7/11s in Japan are much different than those in North America. The prepared foods are so much better. Overall, the staff attempted to answer our questions as much as possible in English. I did attempt to converse a little in Japanese, but failed miserably. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

But we could still manage to eat in the room and found space to put 3 small carry-on luggages. The room is clean, smells good and furnitures were good. Bed was comfy. Toilet is clean. The location is very convenient too - walking distance to the Kyoto station and lots of shopping and food nearby. I also love that they provided personal care items such as moisturizer, facial wash etc….

- Ya Qi Jessica (10/5): - A typical but top-notch Japanese business hotel with staff who take pride in their jobs. The rooms were small, as expected of most Japanese business hotels, but they were very clean and the beds were very comfortable. I usually have trouble sleeping in hotel beds but these were very good for my back! The water provided was also specially filtered somehow and tasted different (in a good way) from regular potable water.
