Guest Reviews
- Jerecho (6/5): Great place for a good budget. - The cleanliness of the room and the place is within the tsim sha tsui city proper. Small bathroom.
- JUNG KWAN (7/5): -
- Mary Ellen (6/5): - It is near the bus stations and train station The comfort room and bath room is too small we could hardly move our body
- Mary Rose (7/5): Good and all the staffs are nice and friendly. - It is close to all establishments and tourist spot.
- Francis (7/5): -
- Jhing Perez (4/5): location is great but room is so small for 4 guests - Location is definitely the best thing about this hotel. The MTR station is just right beside the hotel and shops are all around it as the hotel is situated in the main street of Nathan. It also has 2 separate entrances which makes it very convenient when you are being dropped off by Uber at any street surrounding the hotel. The staff are mostly Filipinos and they are very accommodating and friendly. The Chinese guy, not sure if he is the owner, is also nice. The room is being made up every single day where trash is being collected as well. They are willing to keep your luggage after checking out while you still have time to roam and shop around before you travel back to the airport for your flight. The room is too small for 2 double beds. There is no room to move around. No table where you can somehow put your things and there is limited space for your luggage. There is electric kettle but there is no space to have coffee or tea. We saw a space outside the rooms which could be the common area but it smells cigarette smoke. Electric iron needs to be borrowed from the lobby every single time. We also saw cockroaches crawling on the wall beside our bed. The bathroom is a bit old and moldy, door does not have lock and lacks cover for privacy.

- キミヒコ (2/5): 最悪 -
- Andrew (1/5): Extremely basic, confined and sub-standard - The location was great, right next to Tsim Sha Sui metro station. Rooms are located in a residential building that is really difficult to find even when using local navigation. You need to enter a steel door from the main road (Nathan road) to a building called golden crown court and then take an elevator on the right to the 4th floor.
I decided to book a budget hotel but wish I had spent a little more for comfort and convenience. If you’re looking for just a bed and don’t care about home comforts then this is fine otherwise I would recommend doing a little more research before booking to find something that is a comfortable fit.
I booked a double room despite travelling solo as i wanted the space for my backpack, luggage etc. The first room I was given was a single room and literally like a prison cell. The tiniest space with a bed squeezed in between 2 walls and a makeshift bathroom where if you sat on the toilet you had to keep the door open as your knees could literally not fit inside. Luckily my partner didn’t come with me to sleep in this “double room” otherwise he would have been sitting on the bed and literally watching me go to the toilet as there’s nowhere else to look. There was also no window in the room so if you’re claustrophobic like me this is your worst nightmare. The shower was the handheld type that literally soaked the entire tiny 2sqm bathroom when you use it and because there was no window the room smelt moldy and musty. The bed mattress was so hard it would have been more comfortable to sleep on the floor if only the space available wasn’t already completely full from my 1 backpack sitting there. The room was run down, shabby decor and falling apart.
I complained to reception early the next morning and they did move me to another room which I was grateful for and it was slightly bigger with a bed side stand so most likely the double room I had booked originally and should have been provided.
- 紀任 (1/5): 最悪 - 立地 部屋が写真と全く違う
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There are cockroaches on our rooms. The room that was given to us for 6pax was so small and the only good thing that happened are the housekeepers. They told me that there is a vacant family room that is way bigger and comfortable compared to the one that was given to us
- Concepcion (9/5): Superb -
- Albert (4/5): - Location is fantastic. The rooms are too small for convinient. The toilet, shower and wash hand basen are all discomfortably in a small room
- Leviste (7/5): Good -
- Zobair (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Solo travel at TST - Short trip to HK and decided to stay at TST, you know HK is really expensive and expect small rooms. Value for money and location was good
- Howard (2/5): - .
- Mohamad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mohamad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (6/5): I can say that the room was clean, the bed is surprisingly comfy, towel is also good quality. However, the room for two - Location, just beside TST MTR station Room for two is too small, its literally a bed and a toilet
- Charo (4/5): Disappointing - Rooms are the small
- David (4/5): - Room we were provided was ridiculously small, even though we had booked months in advance we still got the last available room. The 4 of us had to shuffle on to one of the double beds just to be able to close the door and access the 2nd bed.
Bathroom drain took forever to drain after a shower, you were basically standing in about 5cms of water after a shower.
There was barely enough room to open our suitcases, lots of shuffling around was required just to be able to do so. Hong Kong accommodation is typically small but this really was the bottom of the barrel...
- Faith (7/5): Good - Rooms and facilities are clean. Friendly staff. Near bus stops and train stations. Lots of malls and restaurant nearby. The space in the room..but we can still manage.
- Salamillas (9/5): Superb -
- Dave (4/5): Disappointing -
- Aaron (6/5): Pleasant - The comfort room should be covered
- Rineesha (3/5): the owner should advertise online correctly . in picture rooms look big but in reality its very smal - Location was good Rooms are very small as well as the toilet and bathroom very small
- Armaan (2/5): Very poor -
- Perlita (1/5): The location is excellent as it is very accessible to various tourist attractions, the MTR, and nearby malls or shopping - the location is near to avenue of stars and accessible to mtr and other shopping malls We already confirmed our reservation and paid in full through Booking.com. However, upon arrival at the property (California Hotel), we were informed that the payment made via Booking.com was only for the reservation and not for the actual stay.
The receptionist also mentioned that reservations made through Booking.com cannot be processed directly with their system due to certain limitations. As a result, we were required to pay directly at the counter.
- Andrew (6/5): - There are rooms for improvement, AC and bed as well as the bathroom ceiling need to be updated.
- Joy (7/5): Good -
- Awiruth (9/5): Fantastic hotel, we will stay there in next HKG visit - I traveling with 5 persons; 3 adults and 2 children. The location is very near to bus stop, MRT station, lots of shops which can travel by walk you can try food street every with the different shops :-), hotel staff do room service everyday, room is quite even near by the road but no traffic noise in the room, bed is big enough to sleep with 2 persons, toilet is clean, hot water working well, staff is very friendly, hotel is safe there are guard sitting front of the elevator, for next visit we plan to stay in this hotel again. Lift which may take long time waiting during morning and evening; lift was shared with others in the building
- Bonifacio (6/5): SO SO - B8gger space and privacy They let HK police knock on our door at 10pm and we were resting already.
- Chona (8/5): Very good - Very clean small but comfortable room Shower was broken
- Teuvo (5/5): Good location but small room and noices from outside and from corridor may bother you in this hotel. -
- Fernando (4/5): dire experience - hallway and waiting area, good location. weak wifi, lights on and off several times, small bathroom.
- Hildegard (7/5): Good - For all ok
Not expected too much Too much noise
- ALEX (8/5): - room was too small for a family room plus the noise from the A/C unit was a bit loud
- Jonna (9/5): Highly recommended due to location, tidy as well. It’s comfortable to stay. - Location is💯 It’s a bit cramped but that’s what you get for a cheaper price.
- Muhammad (1/5): Bad - Nothing Everything
- Patrishia (10/5): I’ve been reading a lot of reviews about hotels in HK and I was a bit worried since we are after a budget-friendly one. - I’ve been reading a lot of reviews about hotels in HK and I was a bit worried since we are after a budget-friendly one.
We were lucky to have found this hotel!!! It was perfect for us as it is budget-friendly. The room was also neat and everyday, it was being cleaned, all sheets, towels and suppliers are being replenished/replaced daily and they are also giving supplies of bottled water. It might not be a huge huge room (which is normal in HK) but it was spacious enough to fit all our luggages and still have a space to walk.
The toilet is also clean and the heater is working. The hotel is also in Nathan road, which is the main road in TST area so this is really a perfect find.
The staff and receptionists are also accommodating.
We also paid an additional 200hkd for a late check out since our flight is still at night.
Definitely recommending this hotel! 🥹💕💕
- Eliza (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect, restaurants, bus stop and mtr stations are all accessible. Our room was spacious and clean and they clean and change the the towels everyday. Staff are friendly and approachable. Over all it was a great stay for me and my whole family. The wifi in the room is weak or not working at all.
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naushad (5/5): Location was great and staff were very helpful - Location and staff Room size, its very congested and not good for families, good for backpackers
- Jistirfluyd (10/5): They clean the room every day and they give free mineral water. - The people, especially our auntie at the cashier (the one in charge), are friendly. They clean the room every day and they give free mineral water.
- Bianca (10/5): Exceptional - thank you. we appreciated that you cleaned our room everyday. our stay was very comfy and the staff are accommodating
- Johnny (6/5): Overall its ok for 1 night - Good location, single room is tiny but ok for 1 guest. Bathroom very small.
- Wei (7/5): Good - Location and staff excellent Toilet is too small and difficult to function well. Toilet space too tight.
- Iane (10/5): Exceptional -

- Verified traveler (10/5): Family trip at Christmas - California Hotel is Budget Freindly. The customer Service was spot on. Rooms small but was bot a issue for 3 of us. My wife is 27 weeks Prgnent and she was comfortable
- Marife (8/5): Could had been better if the price is a bit discounted for the size of the room - Location is great The price I guess is quiet expensive for a small room like this.
- Gerelie (8/5): Very good - the location is near mtr. very accessible to all. they are nice to customers.
- Andrew (8/5): - Honestly it accepted a group of travelers last minute ao its a great place in my opinion

- Endang (7/5): Good -
- Endang (6/5): Pleasant -
- Li (1/5): bad service! not recommend - nothing is good, bad service bad experience when enter to the building, full of indians. waiting lift (only have 1 lift) taking long time. Check in procedure not clear, queue long time went up to the block, the door locked & a sticker stated pls go to another block to check in. Then we go to another block went up still the same, door locked & sticker there ask to call for the receptionist. Once call he turn up with unfriendly attitude, bad service. Strongly not recommend to stay here, rather top up 200-300 to stay other place! Worst hostel!
- Lefteris (7/5): For one day is okay. - The location of the hotel was excellent and the stuff was friendly. Also, the shower was nice. If the hotel gives you a solo room, the hotel is not worth it because it is so small you can not even move inside the room. But most importantly, the A/C is so loud, and you can hear on the hull area.
- Ariunbold (7/5): Good -
- Qasmi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juugii (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janseven (6/5): Pleasant - I book double room for 2 room 3 night 139 ft² but hotel provide me single room 107ft² room no 502 and 503 on 11th floor. What happen?
- Domingo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Bevan (10/5): Have stayed there before and as always the staff were polite and helpful. - Location There were small things but for the cost one was paying, not worth mentioning.
- Ronald (4/5): I pay for 139sqf room for two person but they give 70sqf rom - it’s ok the room very small no space for two
- Diego (2/5): A horrible and dirty dungeon - The location is the only good thing.
But the hotel was so horrible that I cannot enjoy even the locations.
Simply ruined my mood every day. I have been travelling in China for 4 years and by far this is the MOST HORRIBLE dungeon I have ever been into.
1) The pictures you see are a lie. Real rooms are smaller and dirtier many with no windows and bad ventilation.
2) Single and Double rooms are so small that is denigrating.
3) Super bad, displicent attitude of the staff.
The hotel dont take your trash, you need to take it yourself.
For the same 600 HKD/day later I found a MUCH better hotel with friendly staff in the same area.
In my opinion this is not a Hotel, is a scam for tourists that operates in this way:
1) After you arrive to your room (single or double) you will want to change it for a better "just decent" one.
2) Then the staff (see the lady in the picture) will charge you super expensive and you will have no choice but to accept, because you cannot get a refund and you really cannot suffer staying in your single or double room.
If you have a question about this review I leave you my phone number +86 188 06478549, I gladly explain you how horrible this place is.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - neat & nicev
- Shah (2/5): - This is the last place on the earth I would live it again..
- Vincent (8/5): Ok for the price. - Location was excellent, good for the price for budget layover stay.
- Mel (4/5): - Hotel is close to most tourist area but price, service and the what you get for your $ is not worth, also very small room with no breathing space.
- victor hugo (8/5): - Already told you. There was a leak on the shower. Very nagging when you're seating on the toilet.
- Yip (2/5): Very terrible hotel - Beside the good location.. Everything is extremely terrible.. From cleanliness, service, room size.. Staff acted like gangster.. I won't come back here at all..
- Andy (2/5): Terrible hotel - One of the worst places I have ever stayed in.Have played less and d had better.Room was immature and shower had toilet in cubicle. Bed was tiny and wallpaper dirty and mouldy..Should be taken off expedia list they should have a look at it..I did not comlain because all the rooms were probably the same and didn't want to spoil my holiday.
- james (8/5): Staff need to smile - Good hotel . Easy to find. It had a lift.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Absolutely terrible. Room was a joke, nothing like the pictures. Small, dirty, and mosquitoes.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - My personal experience was quite disappointing. Particularly because I stayed here on a Saturday night when the prices went up everywhere, so I felt like I paid too much for what I got in return.
The good: The place was very close to MTR station right in the city centre. Many shopping malls, eateries, museums, ferry terminals, were all in walking distance. But then again, it's not as if there's only few places around here to choose from.
The bad: The room. This was my 5th time to Hong Kong and I've had a few stays in Tsim Sha Tsui, so I learned to expect tiny but well-maintained rooms with good services. This room, even with a free upgrade to two bigger beds, was still tiny but there are visible signs of neglect here and there. In the middle of the night there were loud noises like from a malfunctioned machine somewhere in the building that kept me awake for hours.
The best thing I could say about the place apart from the location is the front personnel. My check-in was done quickly, and he seemed eager to help keep my luggages for a few hours after check-out. That said, I don't think I will come back here again.
- Manuel (6/5): Near to shopping center and restaurants - Better room and larger bed this time. Pleasing staff.
- Talluah (6/5): Great location - cold room and shower. - There were no extra blankets and the shower didn't seem to warm up even after running for several minutes.
- Verified traveler (8/5): The room is just okay but poor customer service! - We paid for 4 pax yet their service water is just good for two when we asked for 4 bottles they were reluctant to give us then. When we asked at an early morning for a new set of bottles for coffee the staff said "Too fast huh! Not now. Too early!" I dont know if we hust misinterpreted their way of language towards us but I hope they know what "GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE" is. However, they are hotel staff so they must know appropriate customer services handling because even if they cant clearly speak english well at least they know how to communicate well with a clear and soft tone of voices. Please.
- Andrew (4/5): Certainly Not As Presented on Wotif - The room was a disgrace, nothing like presented on Wotif . Paint peeling of the wall mould around bathroom entry the air conditioning unit remote control missing only way to operate is turn on from the unit itself and then there is no way to adjust the temperature. I complained and requested a room change response was we are very busy after making a deal they agreed to move me to a more acceptable room the next day.
The new room was OK and acceptable for the price paid. The female manager was quite rude on one of the days the building lift was not working and there was no sign to say it was not working I asked the female manager how to get down and she just pointed in the direction of the goods life and mumbled garden which I did not understand, I had to ask her 5 times before I understood what she was actually saying.
Overall all is was just OK however had I not been moved from the first nights room I would have checked out and booked another hotel.
- Wee (4/5): Very small room not worth for the price paid - (+) near to MTR and shops
(+) Clean. Bed sheet changed daily and well cleaned.
(+) staff are friendly tries to help but no resource/knowledge about HKG
(-) very small room, really small even no space to keep luggage.
(-) very small toilet. Really small. No space to even move.
(-) only one plug point to change between kettle and chargers
- FRED (6/5): GOLDEN CROWN COURT - THE GOLDEN CROWN COURT SIGNAGE IS TOO SMALL TO BE NOTICABLE.
OVERALL THE LOCATION IS GREAT AND CHECK IN STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
DURING BATH HOTEL WATER FLOW WAS INCONSISTENT.
- Amalia (6/5): Close to shopping & restaurants - Slow Internet /WiFi poor signal .
Staff were very helpful
Security was good
- Verified traveler (2/5): Non functional bathroom floor plan - The shower head to take a shower was essentially just above the sink next to the toilet. You have to basically have no choice but to take a dump and shower at the same time.
The beds weren’t even real beds. Like futon.
You can hear your neighbors, no privacy.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very cramped, old, uncomfortable beds. - Basically cheapest accommodation in Hong Kong. Get what u pay for. V Cramped, hard beds, old and decrepit. Cheapest around. Expect nothing more.
- moti (4/5): Only location was good. Too small room which inclu - In my personal opinion such type of hotels should not be listed by Wotif.com
- dorrine (4/5): Budget - I had a room for 6 people. The room had 3 bed which was what i asked for, however, the toilet was too small for even the slightest movement. Stuffs were not fixed and the doors were really noisy, could hear car passing in the middle of the night. made a complain and got to change to the room on another level which was a lot better in comparison. It would be alright to stay if you are having a budget trip to HK however, would get another hotel if i were to choose.
- Philip (4/5): You only get what you pay for! - The room was small and the bed narrow. However, I knew the dimensions of the room but had not actually thought what that represented. The 'hotel' is on the 4th floor of a 10 story building. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the 'hotel' is well situated in Kowloon.
