The room was good and beds comfy, and plenty of parking.
I had to work during the day and the WiFi was great for that, only wish the restaurant was open later as we didn’t get to eat there but as it was midweek and out of season we understand why.
Pub quiz on Wednesdays! Restaurant opening ours..

- Darren (3/5): Disappointed was expected so much more, morning breakfast was rushed and staff disappeared had to go looking for them - The location was good, parking and WiFi all good The shower was either freezing or boiling, sanoflo system very noisy from other rooms in the night, the breakfast was not as described items missing from listing /menu and fround at when asked for them , Sunday breakfast only 1hr long, only one cloice of fruit , only 1 flavour of yogurt, the staff were nowhere to be seen at checkout so just left key on bar

- Nik (9/5): Great location to explore the moors of the coast. Wonderful breakfast and evening meal with very friendly staff. - Lovely spacious room. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Nit picking, but the shower water pressure was not the best. Nice and hot though.
- Phillips (9/5): Lovely stay, everything was good - We stayed in a cottage room which I assume we’re originally stables, quite adequate for what we needed , comfortable and clean huge bathroom with a great shower, pleasant attentive staff, good breakfast, would we stay there again, absolutely.
- Caz (9/5): Great accomodation at lovely pub. - Clean, friendly, good location Firm beds, room a touch small.

- fawcett (7/5): Very pleasant, good room, nice food, good value - Very pleasant quiet room in the car park area with country outlook, and easy connection to the main property.
Food and service Very good.
On my second night the restaurant was hosting a party in the main restaurant, and despite being very busy maintained a friendly and efficient service.
- Julia (9/5): Excellent stopover on our journey to Scotland. Will definitely stay again - Lovely old world Inn beautifully presented throughout. Very comfortable and cosy. Food was excellent very fresh fish
- Philip (10/5): - Breakfast was excellent and plenty of onsite parking. Nice quiet village location.
- Hunt (7/5): - The food One of the breakfast waitress was quite curt with my husband and I for no reason when we said good bye she didn't have the common decency to reply.
- Neil (9/5): Unexpected gem - E Stayed while walking the Cleveland Way. Unexpected bonus. Clean, comfortable, good food, good room and the finest pint of Timothy Taylor landlord.
- David (7/5): We only stayed the one night and it worked well for us, I'd stay again as it's local to family. - Room was nice and as expected. Dinner was very good and reasonable value for money. There was no soap for the basin in the bath room, just the shower gel near the bath. Breakfast could be better, the scrambled eggs were overcooked and had a dusting of something on them that didn't improve the flavour. I guess you could ask for them to be cooked less and not have whatever it was added.
- Mrs Lois (9/5): The pub was really pleasant with good food and friendly staff. Very convenient for Scarborough. - The staff were friendly and helpful, everything was clean, the beds were comfy, the food was good. We asked for an early breakfast and were provided with it. We didn't know we would be in an outside room and would have preferred to be in the pub itself as the room felt a bit cold when we arrived, although the heating worked well. I would rather be upstairs.
- Shaun (9/5): Excellent value for money, very comfortable bedroom, cosy bar, great food and lovely people. - A warm welcome when we arrived. We spoke to the bar staff on the phone before we arrived and they were very accommodating, we could arrive anytime after mid day which was great. Evening meal and breakfast very good and a decent selection of beers etc in the bar.
Very friendly team of people and will be returning. Everything was spot on - nothing to improve on
- Drew (10/5): We would recommend. - A lovely cozy traditional English pub in a small village just outside Scarborough. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfy bed. A very relaxing stay.
Ample parking in the car park at the rear
- Brian (10/5): Perfect for a stay or just having a male or drink - Grat location and excellent breakfast. Freshly cooked and well presented.
- Carl (10/5): - Lovely accommodation, room was exceptional, warm and clean. Breakfast and evening meal was gorgeous, bar is warm and friendly with a lively open fire. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Will definitely stay here again

10/10
Was perfect! Nothing we had a wonderful night away.
- Dave (9/5): - Staff were all friendly & helpful.
The whole Inn was warm & welcoming.
Food was excellent pub fayre. It's not really a dislike, but some of the carpets could do with an upgrade, but it didn't detract from the overall position experience.
- Peter (10/5): - Setting...Staff... food... drink Nothing
- Chris Malton (9/5): - We had a great stay in a lovely country pub. The breakfast was well presented with good quality ingredients. Thank you.
- shaun (5/5): Give it a miss - We got the 4 poster bed room and it was a lovely large bedroom with a massive comfy bed and a nice pub downstairs. Middle of nowhere, we were the only couple in the accommodation and in the bar. Myself and my wife had steak pie and a few drinks and came to £84. The flush wouldn't flush, the wardrobe door wouldn't shut and no beans with the English breakfast. I asked if I could have well done bacon and she said I will try, it came out not well done. As we were the only couple in the accommodation there was no one there when the bar shut at 21.00. When we asked the barman where everyone was he said the Red Lion as its cheaper.
- caton (9/5): Stayed for a short business trip, staff very warm and welcoming. Great food, good stay. - Clean and comfortable Nothing
- Ann-Marie (10/5): Lovely place with great staff - Good location with plenty of parking.

- David (10/5): Excellent accommodation, friendly staff. - This is our second year staying here and it doesn't disappoint. The rooms are amazing, modern and clean. The staff are very friendly, The bar man especially. Breakfast is extremely good. The full English is especially good. We had a meal in the restaurant and was served very promptly and by friendly staff. Would definatly recommend the sea bass and the steak pie. Parking is good and it is in a lovely quiet village. Easy access to scarborough.

- Trudy (9/5): Excellent pub with friendly staff, great food, clean room and great location. - The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in the bar was excellent, and it a nice touch to have
cracker on the table. Great location for Scarborough and Whitby with a bus stop just outside the pub. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. Would recommend and would stay again if in the area. Had to ask for the heating on in December!
- Michael Offiler (6/5): Enjoyed our visit, but room could have been warmer - The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly and efficient. Food was good, but perhaps not quite as good as we found on previous visits. The room was cold when we arrived. Central heating did eventually switch on but it was off at 21.00 and was not switched on again until 08.30. A soap dispenser in the shower fell apart.
- Paul (8/5): Nice restaurant and staff. - Friendly staff and lovely food. The water was very hot in the bathroom.
- Harry (9/5): Peaceful and value for money. - The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was as we expected. We will certainly consider staying at be Blacksmith Arms again. Nil.
- Julie (8/5): Cosy night in a lovely old pub, good value and great food & staff. - Cleanliness, friendly staff, good parking, great food and a lovely warm atmosphere on a cold winters night. The beds were comfortable and the room was a good size. It is an old public house so you appreciate that a building like that will creak, the secondary glazing kept the noise outside at bay but the wind still whistled through at intervals during the night. If this could be adjusted it would make for a better nights sleep, however it would not stop me from staying here again.
- Tracey (10/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful scenery. Very kind and helpful staff
- WILL (9/5): -
- kevin (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Julie (10/5): - The bed was really comfy we had a good sleep. There was nothing not to like.

- samantha (10/5): 3 night stay - Just returned from a great 3 night stay at the Blacksmiths Arms.
We stayed in a courtyard room. Very clean and comfortable. Good beds and pillows.
Ample parking.
Really friendly staff.
Tasty food.
Lovely location in the countryside with easy access to all tourist spots.
Would recommend. Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Perfect location for visiting Whitby Gothic Festival - Lovely country pub in a quiet village, wonderful staff and great food. This was ideal for visiting Whitby Gothic Festival as it was out-of-the-way, somewhere quiet to retreat to.
- Susan (10/5): -
- Thomas Roger (8/5): Great for the overnight stay. - .Comfortable , helpful staff and good food.
- Penny (9/5): Relaxing - Lovely friendly staff great food
Lovely room with four poster bed The room we had is over the kitchen so you could here the extra fan while the kitchen was open
- Brassington (10/5): Beautiful period Inn. - A beautiful Inn. Staff exceptionally friendly. Nothing any trouble. Could easily have stayed longer. The food is fantastic. We had breakfast both mornings and ate in the lounge area both nights. We stayed in the cottages at the back . Very cosy everything you need there toiletries, tea, coffee, milk, biscuits. A lovely couple of days. Definitely will be back next year. Nothing at all to dislike.
- David (9/5): -
- Grzegorz (9/5): - Lovely pub with dedicated parking space on the rear. It is a short drive away to Scarborough. The room was warm and tidy. The bathroom was very clean with hot water at all times.
- Denise (8/5): Lovely stay at the Blacksmith Arms - Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was lovely. Bar & restaurant area very nice. The bed was a little soft for our preference
- Anne (8/5): Last leg of Cleveland way - Location, cleanliness, food. Staff friendly and helpful One of our party was vegan. For breakfast please try to have some alternative milks eg. Soya or oat- can be long life in a store cupboard till needed.
Toilet in room 10 didn't flush properly plus no hand-wash.
- Tutton (8/5): - Conveniently situated for visiting family. Lovely comfortable room. The food was great and reasonably priced. The electric shower struggled in the mornings when everyone was getting up for breakfast.
- David (9/5): Very friendly staff made very welcome - Very good breakfast, excellent evening meal and comfy bed Shower pressure low but expected for the age of the building. However advised of the problem
- colin (10/5): - Great service great food great staff Nothing
- DAVID ROY (10/5): A great - It was quiet and relaxing the staff were great, the food first class. Nothing

- Sharron (9/5): It was a pit stop on our road trip. Had a great nights rest and a lovely breakfast! - It was as you would expect from an old building. Lots of English charm. NA
- Robert (8/5): Clean and tidy, great location and plenty of free parking - Clean tidy plenty of parking They have saniflow toilets systems which make a lot of noise which you hear when others in other room use theirs as well
- JOHN (8/5): - Stayed 3 nights
Excellent service
Good , well presented property and location
Good food Although the weather had started to cool, it wasn't necessary to put the heating on. However, there was nowhere to dry our towels. May sound picky but it would have made a difference.
- Adam (3/5): Bit of a dive. - Welcoming Food was bad.
No wifi in the room.
Room was cold and damp.
- Lorna (9/5): Fabulous for a short stay just outside of Scarborough - Lovely room, friendly staff, great location, excellent brekkie Shower ran hot and cold
- Fiona (8/5): - Lovely old pub, beautifully maintained inside and out. The staff were lovely - friendly and helpful. There was an appealing dinner menu and food was excellent. Plenty of parking outside. The room was a motel-style unit with en suite bathroom accessed from the car park, which suited us perfectly. Large walk-in shower was a bonus. Heating was an issue - the room was cold when we arrived and despite reporting this, the heating wasn't switched on. We were directed instead to a small electric radiator which took the chill off the room.
- Benjamin (10/5): Perfect cosy traditional seaside retreat - Lovely cosy and traditional pub / B&B. Staff are really friendly, food (dinner and breakfast) were great. Set in a quaint village and just a 20 min walk to the cliffs and an idyllic spot.
- Paul (7/5): Welcoming, ticked all boxes on what we wanted for our stay - Very clean, fantastic facilities Dark interior and dated in places
