Edwin (9/5): Overall, Casona Alonso is a top choice for its service, charm, dining, and location. - Our stay at Casona Alonso was truly excellent, thanks to the outstanding service and dedicated staff. This small hotel is tastefully decorated, blending historical architecture with modern amenities. Our room was spacious with a comfortable, mid-firm bed. We loved the French press for quality coffee or herbal tea – a welcome change from typical hotel offerings. Our terrace room offered a great view of the Basilica. The bathroom, though small, had good water pressure and hot water. The hotel restaurant serves upscale, outstanding Mexican food with beautiful presentation. The location is unbeatable, less than 5 minutes' walk to the Basilica, funicular, and Juarez Theater. What's more, it's on a quiet side of town, which is amazing considering its proximity to all the major attractions. You won't need a car to explore Guanajuato from here. Parking is free but off-site; a 10-minute, $90 pesos taxi ride is needed. Call the hotel for directions and parking access. Crucially, the hotel has no elevator. Our room was on a higher floor (3rd-4th), and all rooms are from the second up, making for a significant climb. This hotel would be extremely difficult for guests with mobility or endurance issues.

Alejandro (10/5): Charming, quaint and oh so comfortable property. - It was such a beautiful and quaint property. So close to the city center and the hustle and bustle but also far away from it. It was very quiet and just very charming. There’s nothing I can say negatively about this property.
Ami (8/5): - The property is beautiful and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the offer of tequila upon check-in. The only downside at check-in was that our room was on the fourth floor with no elevator, and lugging our luggage up the stairs after a long day of travel was not fun. The woman who showed us to our room offered to help, but I wasn't going to ask HER to lug my luggage... We also wished we could have had a place to enjoy a drink while we awaited our car service, but we were told the restaurant was undergoing a shift change (at 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon, right during the lunch hour...) and that would be impossible. Otherwise we recommend this hotel!

The food is to die for and the cocktail bar is a hidden gem. The bed and linen are amazing. In our room we didn't have internet and they didn't get it to work in 3 days. They tried but unfortunately. The bar and street are very loud at night.

Pero tiene un bar o antro en el sótano que toca música fuerte hasta la 1 o 2. El ruido llega directo a las habitaciones. Imposible dormir o descansar. Después del cierre del bar los empleados recogen todo oyendo música fuerte sin consideración para los huéspedes Pasamos toda la noche haciendo corajes y quejándonos al igual que otros huéspedes. El Hotel podría ser excelente pero no sabe cuál es su vocación: Es un Hotel boutique de lujo o un antro ruidoso ? Tendría que definirse

Tuvimos dos grandes problemas, el primero fue el asunto con el estacionamiento, muchos desvíos por calles en reparación, estacionamientos llenos, casi una hora dando vueltas en el coche; definitivamente jamás vuelvo a tomar hotel en Guanajuato si no cuenta con estacionamiento propio. Lo segundo, si quieres dormir, no es el lugar; había leído que a pesar de ser muy céntrico no se escuchaba y se puede descansar bien y es falso, parecía que la fiesta estaba en la habitación, pasamos una noche muy mala. El personal es muy amable, el hotel muy bonito.

TV only had Mexican stations; with an international clientele, it would make more sense to get smart tvs with streaming options so we could also find something to watch on it. Also, staff didn’t speak English which was okay for us but perhaps not for everyone. And while WE didn’t hear it, our son (in the next room) did have issues with the nearby club noise which is mentioned in some reviews.

Paula (8/5): Very good - The restaurant in the hotel is wonderful. Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and the beds very comfortable. It was immaculately clean. We were grateful for the air conditioning! The hotel is very convenient to everything, just steps from the main square, the funicular, and yet remarkably quiet and tranquil inside. Our room did not have any windows, except into the interior stairwell, which we couldn't keep open and still have privacy. The advantage is that our room was very quiet. The disadvantage is that it felt a bit cave-like.

Scott (10/5): Beautiful, comfortable, boutique hotel, with excellent service in the heart of historic Guanajuato - The central location in Guanajuato historical center. We had a terrace off our room where we had a great view of the New Years fire works and the historical buildings. The staff was wonderful and even brought us two glasses of champagne to our room at midnight. Also, the bed was very comfortable, the room was warm at night, and quite when the windows were closed (even with everyone celebrating in Guanajuato center). Since we were driving we we had to park far from the hotel (the hotels complimentary parking lot) and take a cab to the hotel. But since the hotel is in the heart of Guanajuato, a UNESCO World Heritage site, I am not sure how they could change that.

Kymbre (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel near EVERYTHING with friendly service and an AMAZING underground BAR! - I loved the authenticity of the hotel. It was really pretty and charming. The room amenities were lovely - robes, slippers, plush linens, soaps, ear plugs, AC, cable (98% Spanish speaking, but okay). The entire front desk staff was kind, helpful, and amazing at what they do. I needed some clothes ironed; they had the service come up, take my items, iron them, and bring them back (for a few, of course). Super helpful. The best part by FAR was the bar staff in the speakeasy-esque bar downstairs. Christian and his crew of exceptionally talented mixologist specialist whose name I cannot recall, but they were the TRUE highlight of my stay. I was there for a wedding and brought a few friends I met down there back to the bar area two (2) nights in a row, and they LOVED the experience as well. This was a really lovely boutique hotel nicely situated in a great area. Thank you Casona Alonso 10! I didn't like my view. Not only was it a perfect view of people walking up the 2nd and 3rd flight of steps, but if I want to open the shades to get some light, EVERYONE could see straight into my room. They need some tints or mirrored glass installed or something. I know nothing can be done about the view, that's not my main complaint, it's that people could see directly in my room. I wish there were a few more English-speaking channels so I could watch something interesting as I wind down at night.

Claire (4/5): From the outside, looks nice. But overpriced and very noisy. - The staff was friendly. The location, near the city center, was good. The rooms were large Very over-priced. A glass of wine with one inch of wine? Food in the restaurant was okay, but overpriced. The coffee press in the room is fine, but only 2 tablespoons of coffee for a carafe produces very watery coffee. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was broken. Two days for someone to replace the broken light bulb in the lamp next to the bed. Room with balcony? Balcony overlooking driveway to tunnel is not anything special and certainly not worth any extra cost. The staircase winding up through the building is elegant, but also serves to vent the kitchen. Cooked onions and barbequing beef permeated everywhere. For $200 US per night, the bottled water should have been free. Again, very overpriced.

sabrina (10/5): Great stay - The day shift was amazing. They were nice and inviting. The bed and 7 pillows were amazing . Also enjoyed the breakfast at the restaurant. The location was great as well it is near the Jardín Union. Enjoyed my stay.
Steven (10/5): - Beautifully maintained, and beautifully renovated. Large rooms, great beds, incredibly well sound-proofed windows, and comfortably-sized and well-equipped bathrooms. Very responsive staff in general, and in particular w/r/t a personal emergency we had. very good restaurant that merits visiting even if you’re not staying there. Well located, close to the Jardín but away from the nightly liveliness.
Debi (10/5): Nice hotel in a loud area - We stayed here 4 nights in a room with king bed and full balcony overlooking the front of the hotel. The room was very comfortable, great quiet air conditioning, nice selection of cable stations and good shower with tons of pressure. Our only complaint is it is VERY loud here. The church bells go off every 15 minutes and a nearly night club blasts deafening bass music very late into the night. There is little soundproofing so its hard to sleep. Side note - the few guests we saw seemed to be older, affluent folks. It was pretty empty when we were there. Never saw anyone eating supper there. And only a couple of tables having breakfast. Warning - very little English spoken here by staff.

Veronica (10/5): Incredible location in the center on the city - I loved the hotel and the room. I loved the balcony and the view. The service was excellent as well as the location. The only thing I think can be improved is the pressure in the shower. Congratulations on your hotel. We also had an excellent breakfast at the restaurant.

Tim H (8/5): Great Location! - If you want to be in the center of the city, this location cannot be beat! Staff were pleasant, room was comfortable and clean. While there are steps to the rooms, it’s much better staying before than having to take a lot steps to get to many other hotels.
Francisco (10/5): - Everything was perfect, except when we did the reservation, we reserved a room with a king size bed, instead the hotel gave me a double bed, I brought this to the staff attention, and they were able to switch me to a different room the next day, both rooms were beautiful, I just wanted the king size bed. The hotel location is perfect within walking distance to everything right in the center of everything, my wife and I truly loved it.
Chris (8/5): Had a great stay at Alonso 10 - We had a great 2 night stay here and really enjoyed Guanajuato in general. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the location is superb! Our room was on the top floor and surprisingly came with a huge terrace with views of the basilica. The room was large, bed comfy, and the safe worked well. The room was kept cool with the ac unit but it was a bit noisy (irregular popping noises) and it’s blue light was very bright and could not be dimmed (we just covered it up ourselves). The fridge kept drinks just very slightly cool, which was a bit disappointing but not the end of the world. We did not try the breakfast or food at the restaurant but read reviews that it’s s good place to eat at. We’d definitely come back to Guanajuato and would recommend staying at Alonso 10.

Verified traveler (8/5): - It’s a nice place however the walls are like paper. Good thing that nights were quiet. They can improve on amenities in room. A full size mirror would be noce. Also the fridge didn’t cool enough. The breakfast was excellent! Location is awesome. There is no elevator but the staff caried our luggage. For those who cannot walk stairs it would not be fitting.
Sergio (8/5): Stay in Guanajuato - The Hotel is very well located. Fantastic service and Room conditions. Nice amenities. The only problem was the AC was not working as desired. Please note the Hotel has no elevator, We were in the top floor, with many stairs to climb
GratefulDave (10/5): - All of the staff really made us feel at home. We were well taken care of , especially by Omar. Nicely furnished and designed. Great location near the action, but far enough away to avoid most noise and experience the quainter vibes of Guanajuato, Included breakfast was very good (omelets, huevos rancheros, hotcakes, a couple of others), We were upgraded to the Capela Room after two nights of five. The room is very nice and comfortable, but the terrace was awesome. Can see steeples, here music in the background and relax. We stayed for the first two nights in the Chavez Morado room. It's a window facing the inside of the building and the stairway. While it is a small hotel, other guests past your room window going up and down the stairway.

Maria (8/5): - Location is excellent. Facility and rooms are nice. Staff is very helpful and kind. Good food for breakfast for a fair price. No hotel parking lot, the Lot next to the hotel charges by the hour and it gets expensive after half a day.
Karla (4/5): - The actual hotel is clean and located in a great area. However, I left the door hanger on the door so no one would go into my room and yet the housekeeper still went in and rearranged our clothing and bags. We had money stolen from my husbands shorts which were left on top of a chair in the room!!! Needless to say this was a horrible experience and we are going back and fourth with the hotel manager who said he would reimburse us for the hotel stay due to the inconvenience.

Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, rooms are big, with tall ceilings, and modern bathrooms, are nice and clean. We found a couple of bugs in the room but they might have come through the open balcony. Very nice staff, nice to see older people employed. We had a dirty blanket with holes on the bed as we checked in (no duvet cover) but they eagerly replaced it upon our request. The king bed was very comfortable but it appeared too big, which is not a problem, but it didn’t have a fitted sheet base - I guess because of its unusual size, so the bottom sheets slide off the bed easily, baring the mattress. Only One negative thing - There was lots of very very loud noise on the street right in front of the hotel that lasted entire two hours on Tuesday night, well after midnight. It was either a fight or some sort of a party. I was surprised that the hotel security staff didn’t call the police to stop it as windows and balconies of many rooms face that street. It was impossible to sleep at night at all as we had to catch an early flight.
