Guest Reviews
- Sandy (9/5): Excellent stay - Lovely hotel
- Chiaravall (8/5): - Location, facility, the beach is amazing. Relaxing and quiet The gym only opens at 7. There is a weird process for ordering breakfast, which is not good, just reheated packaged sandwiches, and you can pick up only starting from 8.
- Dahlgren (9/5): -
- Cristian (10/5): -
- Rosetta (10/5): Would highly recommend staying here!!! - Everyone that works there is very nice and accommodating.
- Ramsour (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer! -
- Danny (8/5): - Noisy from people in the hallway
- Aryn (10/5): -
- miriam (10/5): relaxing, off season, dog friendly and quiet lake community - lake front
- Ty (10/5): Stay Here! - Older remolded resort right on the lake. Clean & comfortable
Highly recommend
- suzanne (8/5): very nice, would stay again if in the area - Staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Came to room to assist with some tv features that were new to me. The room was very clean, important! I note that the temperature could not really be adjusted. Was set for 70, never went above 69. When I tried to boost to 72 to "get it going", it dropped to 68! I finally just turned it off, and it went up to 69. again! Felt better with fan off then. Did not eat the breakfast, so can't speak to that. Also did tell staff when checked out that the louver window cover lets in a LOT of night time light! Think the outside lighting could be adjusted. Oh, be sure to let your eyes adjust to darkness. before realizing how much light comes in the room from outside. Sorry, wrote all comments in section above
- Vincent-Books (8/5): - It was quiet and clean Because of a power outage no restaurant or bar was open. Disappointed the coffee shop was closed.
- Janice (9/5): -
- John (10/5): -
- Beverly (10/5): Incredible destination! - Oakwood Resort is stunningly beautiful from every direction located at the water's edge. Fabulous views, workout room, library, outdoor patio with ample rocking chairs and additional seating, large and small gazebos, the most comfortable bed! The staff is so very accommodating. A real treasure.
- Tessa (8/5): Short but enjoyable - Pretty The bed and pillows
- Dabkowski (10/5): - Staff were awesome
- Deborah (9/5): -
- Ridenour (8/5): Feb 21st - Convenient, clean, reasonably priced. Because we used booking.com we were not allowed free mornings breakfast this time. So disappointing. Coffee shop is closed and looking for new tenants. Parking is to far from resort entrances.
- Roxanna (10/5): -
- Linda (7/5): It was OK. Clean. But has more potential - Not impressed at all with breakfast. In fact I didn't eat it. With having a restaurant there i would expect more. It was comparable to gas station food. Breakfast was horrible. Looks like the resort is in need of updates and paint especially in hallways
- Timothy (7/5): -
- Damian (10/5): -
- Kali (6/5): - I think the atmosphere is beautiful and being able to walk out on the water but the rooms are very outdated
- Corine (5/5): Beautiful location, welcoming staff, maintenance of the hotel is not being done and it shows. Overall , over priced. You - Beautiful location, beautiful property. The hotel is very dog friendly. Trying to get on the elevator and there were often people with three or four dogs already on the elevator. I was not aware of how dog friendly it was when we booked. For the cost, the location can’t be beat. The facilities definitely need upkeep. We had to move rooms twice. The air conditioning didn’t work, and the toilet did not work, on Fourth of July weekend, which is a very busy weekend. The buffet breakfast was awful. Nobody came to take our order. Or give us coffee refills. Probably would’ve been easier if they would’ve just had coffee out instead of needing a server to bring it to you.

- Tracey (7/5): Overall it was a nice stay but nextime I will plan on going out for breakfast. - Restaurant on premise was not open during the week. Given a placard with menu items to choose from and had to hang on room door by 10pm. Picked up breakfast at the coffee shop and was informed they ran out of stuff so I had to choose something else. Food was good.
Liked that there was an elevator. Enjoyed sitting on bench by the beach and watching the moon rise. The room was musty. There was a very bright light on the adjacent building that even with the blinds closed didn't darken the room. Blackout curtain would have been nice.
- Kathryn (8/5): -
- Denise (5/5): - I think the breakfast was just fair. I really didn’t care for it. We lost power during the night. So my husband’s CPAP machine would not work.
- Daniel (10/5): Just an amazing place to stay in Syracuse, we will be back! - Staff during check-in were very accomodating, friendly and provided an early check-in room. Manager serving the breakfast was awesome and provided service with a smile and outstanding hospitality!. Breakfast attendant was very friendly and I enjoyed our discussions about the area. Dinner server was just amazing and showed so much ALOHA, we felt like we were back in the islands (she was from Jamaica). Location on Lake Wawasee was totally amazing with a view of the most amazing sunrises! We were planning to do some laundry but were very disappointed that only the dryer was operational and the washers were out of service on both floors.
- Roxanna (10/5): Oakwood is a beautiful place to stay no matter what season it is! - Old world charm! N/A
- Andrew (5/5): -
- Luanne (10/5): Went to bed with a tornado watch, woke up to snow. Beautiful! - Karlos and the other staff were amazing. I wish you gave a military discount.
- Brinkman (10/5): -
- Douglas (10/5): Great value - On the lake. Nice restaurant/bar. Great staff
- Malo (10/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): Relaxing and fun! - We ended up cancelling our stay through Booking so we could book the suite through the resort. They were so accommodating and made this so simple! The room was spacious, and so comfortable. The restaurant was delicious, and the free breakfast was so convenient and nice! Our stay was great!
- Amy (10/5): -
- Thomas (9/5): A good value get away! - It was beautiful with places to walk, views of sunset and sunrise. The onsite bar and restaurant had good food, reasonable prices and live entertainment. The decor was a little dated but still quaint.
- Ridenour (10/5): - Very loud in mornings, the way the main floor goes up all 3 levels over the commons area. We could hear everyone in the early mornings who were checking out or just sitting in commons area as if they were in our room. I would choose another place to stay next time because of this. I was on second floor 3 rooms removed from commons area.
- Gregory (9/5): Beautiful property, quiet surroundings and very restful beds! Staff bent over backwards to accommodate us for the night - An absolute gem of a facility and views of the lake were spectacular! Staff was very obliging to make sure our stay was comfortable. We arrived late (9:00 PM) and any source of food had been closed for the night. The community is very small, so only source of food was Pizza restaurant. Not our cup of tea!
Would have been nice if there was a small “market” that offered microwave meals and snacks.
- Kelhi (7/5): - Zimmer, Lage und Betten sehr schön. Das Frühstück war sehr schlecht, besonders im Vergleich zum restlichen Hotelniveau.
Es war einfaches fast food.
- Kiona (8/5): -
- Cindy (8/5): - The place was clean, the wedding hall was great. The TV needs to have local channels and bigger bath towels.
- Lynn (8/5): It was very nice albeit noisy. I will stay again but will ask for a quieter room !😊 - Location
Property is beautiful
A refrigerator plus a freezer was nice to have for insulin and drinks. Very loud, people in the lobby could be heard throughout the rooms
Also the ice machine was not working
- Angela (9/5): Enjoyable - Staff very friendly and helpful Had trouble with the ac at first-they got it fixed
- Angela (9/5): Very nice -
- Angela (9/5): Enjoyable - The view was great
The staff very friendly, helpful Had issues with the ac
- Brooke (9/5): -
- Kelley (10/5): - Very beautiful The breakfast procedure was weird I would prefer to have a regular continental breakfast
- Nestor (10/5): -
- william (10/5): Things to change - Need yo upgrade breakfast, this not a resort breakfast We were there 7-8 years ago 3 times always a nice buffet you can put what you have now for customers to get also put micro waves in rooms and get cable tv, i wii not book again unless you change the breakfast
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Bowen (10/5): -
- KRISTI (7/5): -
- Lynda (10/5): Relaxing. - Love the location. Easy drive to many places to eat and shop. Very relaxing. Love to sit outside by lake, watch boats, swans. Nothing reflecting on resort. Guest had 2 ill mannered dogs that barked at people. they were in lobby looking at sweatshirts. It was 7:30 am and the dogs were barking! I gave them a look, then said that is not how I want to wake up! They took dogs outside. The clerk at counter was very sorry.
- Sherrie (10/5): - The property is beautiful. All of the staff was very professional and friendly. Very accommodating to any needs.
- Carrie (10/5): - Pleasant and helpful staff. Cute rooms and great view of the lake.
- John (6/5): Not quite as advertised - The hotel setting was better than the interior. The toilet flushed very poorly - weak and slow. The room had only one chair which made the bed the only other place to sit. For the price of the room one would expect glass rather than plastic cups and more than one serving of coffee. The carpeted stairs were stained with what looked like ongoing construction. The quality of the non weekend “breakfast” mocks the word breakfast. Other than that the views were wonderful, the bed and room temperature was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Would we stay there again- probably.
- Maryanna (10/5): - Very peaceful setting. Enjoyed the evening sitting by the water.
- Diyaa (10/5): -
- Jack (10/5): -
- Nancy W (8/5): - We were pretty comfortable. Black out shades would be good as a lot of light came into our room from the hallway around the corner leading to the restaurant. We were told the room would be cleaned every day, not a big deal to us, but it wasn’t although we were gone all afternoon both days with no sign on door. The breakfast was very good. Enjoyed the lakefront setting.
- Bruno (10/5): -
- Maria (10/5): - Everything is wonderful, the property , the little beach, the breakfast option, the facility around, the cleanliness outside and inside, the kind and wonderful staff, the availability of restaurants in less than 10 min. And The walk around .
- Margaret (10/5): - Great memories for Lake Wawasee
- Cynthia (10/5): I always love staying in Oakwood - I love the new complementary breakfast from Brew City and the convenience. Do painting and carpet was nice too!
- Hope (10/5): - Easiest check in process and everyone from front desk, dining room staff and cleaning ladies were nothing but smiles and so kind!!
- Bob (9/5): - The breakfast provided by Brew City is excellent.
Anita and all of the other front desk people are very helpful.
- Kara (10/5): - On site restaurant is very good. Access to the beach on the lake and surrounding lake view is amazing.
- Hefzi ba (8/5): - I loved the calmness of the lake
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ohio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): - Anita at the desk is awesome. She goes above and beyond everyday. Thank you Anita for all your help!
- Angela (8/5): - Nice place
- Jeff (6/5): Average but probably won't be back. - Loved the resort and restaurant. Room was a little dated and the AC couldn't keep up. Was humid in the room. Expensive.
- Karen (10/5): Wonderful - Location Food prices were very high
- Jeeyea (10/5): - Clean property with good amenities
- Melissa (10/5): - We love Oakwood! They have the friendly staff at the hotel and restaurant.
- Dunn (7/5): Good - Cleanliness and location The bed was uncomfortable and the walls are paper thin.
- Helen (8/5): - Air conditioning did not work in our room.
- Deborah (10/5): - We love Oakwood Resort! We sat at the Tiki Bar and enjoyed the water! We ate dinner at the outside restaurant and had fabulous food and service! We enjoyed the blues music being played outside and watching the families enjoying the bon fire!
- Trisha (10/5): - We had the best time at this resort! The views of Lake Wawasee are absolutely beautiful—especially at sunset. It’s such a peaceful and scenic place to unwind.
The food was seriously amazing. Every meal we had was delicious, and you can tell they put real care into the menu. Great variety and super fresh.
The tiki bar was one of our favorite hangout spots—great drinks, fun vibe, and right on the water. Perfect for kicking back in the evenings.
Overall, it’s just a great place to relax, eat well, and enjoy the lake. We’re already talking about coming back next summer!
- Diana (9/5): Superb - Lakeview. Small beach area Room temp a little warm
- Wendell (9/5): Superb -
- Henningsen (9/5): Superb -
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional - I think the morning breakfast situation could be fine tuned. Pre-ordered your breakfast to pick up at a specific time. Great idea however there was a huge line because they waited until the people picked up to make their specialized coffee drinks. maybe have a separate window open for people who want more than just coffee. They have their more specialized drinks made.
- steven (8/5): - Beautiful place wonderful boats to ride in quiet area well worth the return visit
- Martha (9/5): Girl fixing breakfast was fantastic but overworked. She could have used help - Sitting outside by lake Na
- John (7/5): Good -
- Steven (10/5): - Not only is the place spotlessly clean and has friendly personnel, but they were very accommodating to an early checkin and late checkout!! The breakfast buffet was excellent!
- Lana (10/5): Nice place to stay. Very relaxing - We liked the area the hotel is in. Everything was very clean and well kept. It was very quiet and relaxing. We found it odd that the coffee bar closes at 3 pm which is the same time as check in.
- Jan (10/5): Delightful setting & friendly helpful staff, casual, extremely clean, comfortable accommodations vibe, - Gorgeous setting, beautiful flowers, delicious breakfasts, organized delivery of food.
Friendly helpful staff, high quality service overall We used to have access to free kayaks on property. Not available now. Toilets need to be much higher and Need grab bars next to commodes & in bathtub to assist older guests.
A few places need new coat of paint on woodwork. Additional wait staff would have been nice for our large group dinner
- Kevin (8/5): Very good -
- Eric (10/5): - The people were super friendly. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant food was exceptional.
- Jackie (2/5): - I have never been so mad at a hotel. I paid for a room that was shown in the picture, turned out it wasn’t the same room at all, also the TV didn’t work and we tried to lower the temperature and it went down one degree all night. The person at check out said “well you don’t necessarily get the room in the picture” and I can put in a ticket for the TV but other than that you’ll have to talk to a manager (who was not there.) This was my first trip with my guest and it ruined my stay and therefore both of ours.
- Brian (10/5): Hotels.com failed - It was an awesome trip with excellent customer service. My issue was with Hotels.com and not having me registered to stay at the hotel. Luckily they had available rooms.
- David (10/5): - Very attentive staff
- Nancy (10/5): Exceptional -
