Guest Reviews
- Sean (6/5): - Poor confition
- Stacey (6/5): - Location is good and lots of options to eat. Breakfast was great. Pool was nice but water is really warm. Monkeys play all over the resort which was really cool!
My biggest concern is how hard the beds are.
- Peter (10/5): - Location
- Micheal (8/5): - The room overall was ok very much to the standard of what it cost. The resort is limited but has a nice vibe to it. Would only stay here for a max of 2 days.
- Sally (8/5): Value for money - We were hesitant to book this hotel after reading some reviews and the price was so reasonable after what we had been paying.
We arrived expecting average but we were pleasantly surprised at the room, very clean and the pool area was huge and very clean.
The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast great value and cooked fresh as you waited.
Yes, the power is only available from 5pm till 10am but we were out and about during the day so didn't bother us.
We really enjoyed our stay and our time at Tonsai beach area
- Trevor (6/5): No thrills - This is a no thrills getway . Beautiful location and very nice people
- Gerald (6/5): The place is nice for Tonsai but the staff... - For Tonsai the place is nice, but get a superior bungalow, the others were not nice. My AC worked the bed was pretty good and the place was usually quite enough to sleep. Where the place struggled was the staff, some were really nice, some were nice enough but the woman who seemed to be in charge most of the time at the front desk was not nice, ever, during my entire two week stay despite repeated attempts to get her to soften up.
- Jenny (6/5): - On the website, it wasn’t mentioned that this property is actually on an island. You need to take a boat there and back. Which of course costs. If you wait, for hours at times, It will be cheaper, as the more in a boat the cheaper it is. Otherwise full coast and no waiting. There isn’t anything to do on the island. Unless you’re a rock climber, lots of that. The beach is average. Hotel was nice, with a nice pool. No electricity for certain hours during the day. We cancelled our 7 day visit and went to the main land.
- elizabeth (8/5): Great place would definitely come back to stay. - Beautiful hotel, lovely surroundings, Fatima on reception, was exceptional with her help.
- Maciej (8/5): Tonsai resort - Very nice resort, one of the best places at Tonsai, although not ip to the standard of hotels at Railay.
- Henrik (4/5): Nightmare Valley Resort - I’ve travelled all over and can deal with flaws and things being simple. For this “resort” I’m not sure where to start. Pictures online looks amazing but be ready to be disappointed.
Forget the list of amenities and services listed. There is no pool bar, no airport shuttle, dirty pool is falling apart and pieces of glass tile is everywhere, electricity is off between 10-5pm, WiFi is the worst and going anywhere means climbing 3ft walls and a 15m steep hike through the woods, alt during low tide wading waist high around the rocks.
I hate making decisions based on a faulty listing. Just edit your description and list of services!
Forget handicap accessibility. Room numbers and lights on paths and stairways are missing so it’s a constant navigating in the dark trying to find your way or trying not to fall in the steep stairs.
The first room we were given had spiderwebs all over, a fridge from hell, weird open holes with brown yuck, electric wiring loose and exposed in the bathroom, cigarette burns on already yellow sheets and the main treat was rats had chewed open holes so they could just waltz into your room and stuff. Opening the closet they fled back into the walls.
When I argued I can deal with a lot but I am not sleeping with rats they said I can pay to be upgraded. After making the case this is not my problem and I shouldn’t have to pay to stay during these conditions they eventually gave us a nicer room that was clean.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place is amazing, however its very secluded and to get there its a lot of work, but once you are in the area, it shouldn't be much issue. Great staff overall, and great perks, a big swimming pool, a few restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Just what you need for a good vacation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was good for the area.
The wifi is terrible, really bad and annoying as it goes on and off every couple of minutes.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Reception staff were very nice and helpful. The cleaning staff seemed to slack off a bit the longer we were there.
- Maurice (2/5): Disappointed - Where do I begin?
Initially we were happy in our bungalow. Day 2 the toilet goes out. Informed front desk and carry on with our day. Come back from our day around 5, and our toilet still hasn’t been fixed. Speak with front desk, again, and they say someone will be coming by. Another 2 hours goes by and still nothing. Speak with front desk AGAIN and they tell us he left for the day and he told them to put us in another room. They didn’t tell us we were going to be moved until we had to ask for the third time about our toilet. The new room was awful and covered in ants, so we had to stay in our broken toilet room until
The next day. Next the AC unit goes out and we talk to front desk again, and tells us room 415 always has problems. So why put guests in there to begin with then? Next we get moved to a room with twin beds, another head scratching move. We have to ask to be moved to a room with a full size bed. AM front desk gal has attitude and is condescending about the whole situation, so it just felt awkward and uncomfortable the last 3 nights there. Lastly no one came to clean both of ours room the entire time. 5 days and no new towels and sheets. The only positive feedback I have is the pool is nice and the gal working at night is professional and polite.
-notes
WiFi only works in pool and front desk area
Electricity is Off from 10am to 5pm everyday
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice stay - Very nice accommodations and facilities. Room had a broken window which let some AC air out, but impact was minimal. Tonsai beach was nearby and great vibe.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Middle of nowhere and no power during the day so an afternoon sleep was impossible. Toilet seat detached - thevplace is just bad
- Verified traveler (10/5): Rauhallinen resort - Mukavan rauhallinen resort, hinta-laatusuhde erinomainen.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall okay. Aircon leaking and found a small cockroach in the room. But front desk was friendly and attentive.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pool and pool area was great! We didn’t find that there was many good restaurants around the resort but the resort had great lunch options served until 3pm. Breakfast seemed a little expensive. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean and had everything we needed at a fair price! Would recommend staying here for sure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing hideaway - Amazing secluded location on Tonsai beach. Takes a bit of effort to get there but soooo very worth it! Great pool and surroundings.
- Russell (10/5): - I am rating this relatively to other places in tonsai beach, having stayed in this area before. Air conditioning during electricity hours is very nice after a hard day off climbing. Pool is also nice and staff is super friendly. One of the best places to stay if you want to climb here.
Side Note:
DO NOT TAKE CHILDREN OR ELDERLY TO TONSAI. You often get sick in this area of the beach (we all did). Google "tonsai tummy". . the climbing is worth it for a lot of people but bringing little ones is too risky.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Beware if you are looking for a bungalow they do not match the rest of the luxury look and feel of the property. There were many issues with this bungalow including unknown black mark possibly mold on the ceiling and exposed plumbing as well as ants in and around the leaking toilet. No where to put toilet paper and the only power source was at the front door.
The pool was great and the hotel staff very friendly but we were only here 2 nights and it wasn’t worth complaining.
Additionally be informed with this property it’s not easily accessible which if you are to arrive in Krabi Town you will need to take a shuttle or cab for roughly 600 baht and then a long tail boat from ao nang beach for 100 baht each. We arrived in mud and were extremely disappointed but then completely changed our opinion as Tonsai is an incredible almost magical place with neat shops and restaurants as well the climbing offered is very cool and as we were not climbers we met many and they were very nice people. Also monkeys! Would come back but would not stay in a bungalow.
- Walter (8/5): Quite Natural Beauty - Read the fine print, if you can find it. You may have to wade through water to get to the boat to the hotel. Be prepared and it is no problem.
- Nicole (4/5): - The hotel is situated in a valley surrounded by cliffs and there are monkeys and gibbons everywhere, which is very cool. The pool needs work and was very murky, probably because the filter is off all day when the electricity is off. DO NOT BOOK THE STANDARD BUNGALOWS. THEY ARE BELOW STANDARD. The bathroom floor was wet, you get two towels (no hand towels or towels for the bathroom floor), THERE WERE TERMITE TRAILS EVERYWHERE IN THE ROOM (CEILING, WALLS, ETC.), and the sheets were stained. I wore flip flops in the shower. I would go back, but I WOULD NEVER, EVER STAY IN A STANDARD BUNGALOW AGAIN. If you are comfortable with this then go for it, but it wasn't my version of standard accommodation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The breakfast was decent for free. The front desk staff were very friendly. Our air conditioner didn’t work the first night there. We spent hours dozing in and out of sleep in our hot room waiting for it to be fixed. It never was. They finally allowed us to sleep in a different room and said ours would be fixed the following day. It was not fixed, but they moved us to the room next door. There is no power from 10am-5pm daily. While it didn’t sound like that big of a deal when we booked the room, it was more of an inconvenience than we anticipated. WiFi was spotty. You can only take a long tail boat to arrive at the destination. We almost missed our ferry when leaving because the long tail boats don’t leave unless there are 8 people to ride. Be mindful of this when making travel arrangements to your following destination.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great except the pool didn’t seem very clean
- Michaela (10/5): Chill, jungle and hippie wibes - It was really a dreamy stay:) quiet, nice people. For everyone who look for chill and stay away from most turisty places. On evenings there are very Cool chilled bars, located almost in the jungle.
- bret (10/5): Unreal spot - If your looking for a beautiful beach and getting away from the real world this is the place. Dream valley, along with 99% of the otter hotels and bars are about a 100 yards off of the beach behind a wall due to private land. There are paths and/or the hotel will pick you up with a golf cart. We found it to be a very unique place and would love to come back. The hotel itself is very nice! Surrounded by massive cliffs, palm trees and monkeys, it’s a true paradise. Our room was very clean and private. The only thing that was a surprise to us was the hotel doesn’t have power from 10am-5pm. However if your at Tonsai and your in your room during those hours, your doing it wrong. We visited near by Rai lay beach and Ao Nang but neither had anything on Tonsai, enjoy!
- Nettika (8/5): - Considering you're in a very small quiet area, further away from the busy towns / cities, this hotel felt very comfortable and clean. No electricity from 10 am - 5pm, but you don't need it. Nice pool in the centre, but why bother when you are next to a beautiful beach! Great rooms, clean, big and a bit more modern then some bungalows in the area. I would stay here again for sure :)
- jodie (6/5): Great location - Overall nice hotel however the bathroom wasn't very appealing. Be aware that there's no electricity between 10-5pm. No one cleaned our room either. The pool area was nice and you get wifi around the pool aswell.
- Bruno (10/5): Gorgeous Hotel - Amazing surroundings!! Beautiful view!! Very peaceful and comfortable!! Loved it!!
- Cait (10/5): Tonsai comfort - Wonderful room, nice pool surrounded by lush green and a view of the mountains. The cute family of resident cats was a bonus. Laundry service at a nearby resort.
- Chris (4/5): The Definition of Hit and Miss - Disappointing - The GOOD: The hotel’s location was perfect, about a 5 min walk to the beach and surrounded by some nice restaurants and next door to a supermarket. It is the only hotel in the region with a pool, which is over 2 levels and would be amazing if it wasn’t so over-chlorinated, which makes it look mirky and dirty. Staff were happy to help and when we had an issue with our room, moved us to an upgraded room within minutes which was a real plus for us.
The BAD: Such mixed feelings about this hotel. When we arrived we were led to our room which was half of a cottage, with the other half another room. The room was dirty with empty water bottles and the bins were full when we walked in, as well as the toilet having been used a not flushed - not a great first impression. We were eventually moved rooms due to our neighbours burning weeds to keep away mosquitos and the smell being over-powering, and the new room was lovely in comparison. Hotel’s breakfast was limited and we are convinced it gave my partner food-poisoning, so not a positive at all. The electric goes off from 11am to 4pm (not 1pm-4pm as hotels.com have advertised) - we have experience staying in hotels where the power goes off, but generally they chose hours more appropriate (like 2am-7am), not the 5 hours in the middle of the day when it is at it’s hottest, or if it is raining. Overall, if you are a hippie or a rock-climber, then this hotel is perfect. If you are a relatively normal person, consider elsewhere.
- Julija (4/5): - Would not stay again not because of hotel but because of area. Hotel good, but bay was too quiet for us. Bay is for rock climbers and hippies. Not for us
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful resort with fantastic staff - Possibly the highlight of my trip to Thailand. The location is absolutely stunning and the receptionists were always very lovely and helpful. I'd return just for them.
- Danielle (8/5): Ok but a but disappointed - This was our second stay at dream valley was a bit disappointed its a bit run down compared to a year ago the pool was filthy and they said couldnt use the sunbeds. Despite that its stil a lovley place to stay one of the best on tonsai The rooms where cleaned daily and we got a great sleep
- Verified traveler (8/5): Paradise get-away - Fantastic location!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good eggs - Comfortable room, bathroom was a tad scruffy but did the job. Glad I got a reduced rate through hotels.com, would be unhappy if I had to pay the full going rate. No electric between 1pm and 4pm but you should be out enjoying the area at that time anyway!
- Verified traveler (8/5): A dream to stay here - Good hotel with a nice pool and various rooms/ chalets at differing prices depending on the level of comfort you require. I would not pay full price though, glad I got a reduced rate through hotels.com.
- Joe (8/5): - Originally had the deluxe garden view room but requested to change as the room wasn't that nice with a bad shower. Paid a little extra to have a room by the swimming pool on 1st floor, was better and newer but didn't seem to be 100% finished. Only hotel in Tonsai with a pool (2) and both were nice and clean. Breakfast buffet was very good. No WIFI and electricity was out from 1pm-4pm however this information is available at booking so wasn't a problem.
- Stale (2/5): it was more jail then hotel - It s not hotel, it s a jail with its very strict rules. no room service, no electricity on day time, dirty swimming pool, breakfast food poisoned me and i was hospitalized and that coasted me 400 euro to stay alive.
Please don t go there, don t risk your health, it s simply dengerous to stay there.
- James (10/5): 5-Star Service - Excellent staff, 5-star service all the way!
- Still bitter (2/5): Don't risk it, don't stay here - I specifically booked a single room and ended up with an older bungalow that was absolutely not up to standard and not at all worth the price I paid. The hotel grounds are actually really beautiful, centred around a nice pool with a great view. There are many newer looking rooms and bungalows surrounding it (you can see right into the rooms when the blinds are open and they looked great) but there's a row of older bungalows in the back, one of which ended up being our lodging. The place was absolutely crawling with bugs (including in the bed). Several spider webs filled with flies adorned the corner of the walls (these were never cleaned). There was a distinct smell of cat pee by the bed. There was a built in clothing rack/shelf that was about to fall apart (I was only comfortable putting my keys on it) and the shelf on the mirror was also ready to break off. there were no hangers or anywhere to even hang a towel. The bathroom was dirty (toothpaste on the mirror, hair in the soap dishes, some sort of bug feces on the ground) and disgusting. The pipes in the wall were exposed and leaking and there was a hole in the ceiling. The bathroom was so small that it was hard to take a shower without inadvertently touching the toilet. The air conditioner was malfunctioning and the mini fridge that was supposed to be there was not. Don't risk getting stuck with a below average bungalow, don't stay here.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good poisening at free breakfast, no electricity 1pm-4pm daily, not very close to beach. Nice swimming pool and plenty of stray cats!
- Nick (8/5): Delightful resort on Krabi . - Resort on quite remote beach. Lots of activities around this area, main ones being rock climbing and various water sports.
- Loren (2/5): Not a great experience - The food is ok. Some of the staff are very nice, but management spends most of their time telling you what they don't have or can't do. You have to eat in their restaurants to get wifi. The pool is pretty, but I don't think it's very clean. At least 8 (not exaggerating) people got very sick while we were there. Tonsai Beach has some major sanitation issues. It's a good launching pad for island hopping, but the beach isn't pretty because of all of the boats.
- Meagan (6/5): Probably best at Tonsai but far from great - They don't provide wifi which was annoying when every other place does. The pool side chairs are practically destroyed and need to be badly replaced. Have they not noticed? The room was clean except for one of the pillow cases looked like it had blood on it. If it's stained, toss it. Breakfast was ok but everything was empty at 9am and I needed to hunt down staff to get bread and an omelette. On Tonsai beach however, this is probably the best place to stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - It was nice and breakfast buffet is good.
- Tim (4/5): Don`t stay here. - Bad! Dont go there, they actually charge you extra for Wifi. You need to leave a deposit to get a towel for the pool. Its not clean and there was no safe in the room. I had a huge frog in the bathroom, she crawled in there from the shower draining hole. Really bad value for the money you can find a much nicer hotel for the same price in Railay, which has nicer beaches also.
- Sarah (8/5): - Not many choices on the island to stay but it was good. Other than the hard mattresses we don't have any complaints except that power goes out between 1-3 pm.
- Alexandra (4/5): NO WI-FI! - NO WI-FI!
- Verified traveler (2/5): What does an airport shuttle mean - Hotel says on website there's an airport shuttle, but finding out the hotel is in a private bay only accessible by boat and that the shuttle is a boat taxi and a mini bus taxi
- Michael D (10/5): A quiet jungle getaway - Stayed at this hotel on a 4 day relaxing beach getaway. Be sure to arrive in daylight hours = you have to come by Longtail boat from Ao Nang beach. The hotel grounds give you the feel of being in the jungle. Tonsai beach area is a short distance from the main Railey beach. Plenty of local bars open for nightlife. I was very satisfied with the Dream Valley Resort. Staff friendly and helpful.
- DAMIEN (6/5): ok - Great breakfast (buffet). Nice and clean pools (2).
This (big) hotel offers different kind of rooms. Ours was basic and expensive for what you get, but that is true for the whole Railay area. The room was well disigned but it's a shame they had to use toilet paper in to mask holes in the floor structure.
Nice bathroom.
No electricity between noon and 4 pm.
Make sure you disembark on ton sai beach, not railay beach (and save yourself a slippery walk through the woods with your bags) as the hotel is in ton sai and not railay (15/20 min walk?).
- Matthew (8/5): I would stay again. - Nice, quiet, good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): DONT STAY HERE - After walking through a building site to get here, we were informed that there was no wifi( not a massive problem) no power during the day and thaat our aircon with breakfast room was one with 2 fans and breakfast was only included in high season, 2 days away from when we stayed. when we complained and told that we had to cancle through expedia and we couldnt. they wouldnt even help moving us or upgrading us to a better room.
- Stephen (2/5): The worst hotel in asia - This hotel is treacherous to get to down a muddy rubble path with no lighting and that's after you have either climbed a mountain to get to it, risked your life going through the sea full of sharp corral for 30 minutes or getting ripped off daily by a long boat. Telling you to pay or walk. The hotel don't clean your room everyday that's what the lady on reception in charge told me when I complained. The pool beds are so filthy you could peal off the grime. My friend had a dead cat in her bin and the room smelt badly damp and full of cockroaches. Staff just sit about reception on their phones or Facebook, but they tell you there is no wifi, even though they advertise it. I have been traveling through Asia for three months and found this place the worst I have come across. The beach is cordoned off by a huge concrete wall and the bars are full of dirty teenagers smoking dope.the rubbish is piled up high and even the locals call it poopoo island. Just pay more else where and do yourself a big favour and don't go.
- Danielle (10/5): Excellent :) - Dream valley is the best place on tonsai got a free upgrade when we arrived rooms are lovley had the best sleep of our trip its so peaceful and comfortable staff are really friendly planning to return ! LOVE TONSAI !!
- John (6/5): Best place in Tonsai, but know what you get - Dream valley is the nicest place to stay in tonsai, but know what you are going to get--its not the same as hotels in Railay beach or Ao Nang. The pool is nice and staff are friendly; room is fine for the price and the nicest place on Tonsai Beach. However, know the following: there is no electricity from 7am to 5pm. None of the hotels in Tonsai have electricity during this time, most done from 6am to 6pm, so you get two more hours. If it's hot the AC shuts off at 7am; most people can't sleep past 730am or all day with the heat. I stayed in the basic AC room and they only clean the room every 2 to 3 days; only once in a 9 day stay without me requesting it. There is no internet at the hotel; they have an Internet cafe that charges 10 cents a minute (or go to a bar or restaurant and get it for free). If you want power all day and the ability to nap or use your computer in the room, check out Railay, though more expensive. I like staying in Tonsai as a solo traveler and ability to find climbing partners, so this is the best place for me--however know what you are going to get and judge the value yourself. I'll return again in the future, but may not be the average traveler for this location.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice to have a pool - We stayed a few nights. The room and facilities were just OK and you had to pay for wifi, but it was nice to have a pool.
- Rachid (8/5): Nice place to stay - Good
- Serena (10/5): Paradise - This wonderful quiet piece of paradise is amazing if you are looking for a nice quiet get away. It's stunning and well kept. Nice and quiet and enjoyable to be at
- Jared (8/5): If you go to Thailand, go here - I will never forget this place..and I suspect in a few years it will become commercial and never be the same. In other words, it was amazing but I would guess I will never return as the area will become commercialized quickly due to its ridiculous beauty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay for climbers in Tonsai - We were in Tonsai for a 3-week rock climbing trip. The deluxe pool view room was perfect for our trip. The pool offered an excellent activity for our child. The A/C in the room was great and the food was acceptable. The resort was conveniently located close to all crags. There was construction happening as it seems a new 5-star resort is being built on the beach which will change the feel in Tonsai.
- George (6/5): - On this particular part of the beach it was the nicest place to stay at, BUT it was a bit difficult to get to as the description for the hotel information isn't very "informing" The hotel is located on Tonsai Beach, (not mentioned, we had to figure it out ourselves) which is the beach over to Railay Beach. Once you get to Tonsai which is a beautiful short tailboat ride from Ao Nang Beach, the hotel is at the top of hill which you have to walk with all your luggage so pack light, but there's no need to leave that area and hang out in the main krabi town, everything you need and more is already there! its a beautiful location once you get there.
- Bill (8/5): Oasis in a garbage dump - Pretty nice place in the middle of dump up the road from a coarse sand beach that is a ten minute hike from a nice soft sand beach where wealthy people stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Dream Valley yes or no - You can only get to the hotel via a long boat, witch will cost 100thb pp For around 4 or 5 pounds per night you can have a deluxe room.that is the one I would go for as it is nicer and you are less likely to get bitten by mosquitoes if you keep your door closed at all times. The hotel is run on generators so it will not have power at certain periods of the day. We stayed in the standard room for two days, it was not cleaned over this time. Would I stay at the hotel again yes but not in the standard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): a bit far from the water but a good price - a bit far from the water but a good price and nice hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place to relax, quiet, clean, and friendly. - It was nice to escape the mass toerism of Ko Phi Phi Don. The beach is small and there is a lot of rubble around but I has a nice admosphere. The hotel is nice, clean, and the staff very friendly. The breakfast buffet was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a very quiet peaceful stay here close to all climbing. Neat rooms with water available and great friendly hotel service. Some troubles with safe malfunctioning but staff was quick to fix this. Breakfast buffet style had good variety.
- Verified traveler (2/5): !!!' - Worst hotel in Thailand I surprised my mam with a trip as I have not seen her in a year and when I booked this hotel I was told it was on phi phi I slang but wasn't then when we got to the island it was actually on we had no transport from the hotel !!even tho it said it had we had to climb rocks through the water with our suitcases :/I was furious as my mam was not able to do much with a bad hip!!when I finally got there I wanted to speak to manager but staff knew barley any English and was afraid to call him!!shower was working the toilets were dirty and the beds was really uncomfortable was no space for 3people and also tried giving me breakfast for 2 people but I booked and paid for 3!!i spent a lot of money on this hotel expecting it to be the best yet as it's in Thailand but I highly recommend people not to book with this hotel nor with hotels.com as I'm still waiting to be refunded!!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good room - This place was great, except the smell of a dead animal or fecal matter coming from the AC. So just turn your air on and make sure to change rooms if it stinks.
- crimson (4/5): Confusing room naming and pricing - I booked the Standard Room Air-con (2nd most pricey) on the list of rooms list for this resort, and was expecting to get a good room compared to the other cheaper room types in this resort. Upon arrival was shock to find that the Standard room was actually a old, normal sized wooden hut, as compared to the other newer lowest priced rooms listed. Imagined paying 2x the rate in comparison but yet getting must lesser (wondering if is it a hotel price mixed up???) The standard room booking mentioned TV, safe, mini-bar is provided, but we found none of this! Raised a complain to the receptionist and they are also not aware of the price difference for an older room
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great but no electricity sometimes. paradise for rock climbing
- Verified traveler (8/5): good hotel - hotel is located at tonsai bay, we need arrange boat transfer everytime to west or east railey, it was really strong windy and with heavy rain at the day. so was difficult to get to tongsai even from west railey, tonsai is heaven from climber , but east railey with best view. there is a small montain path to climb to east or west railey but it takes more than one hour , recommended for adventure..
- Verified traveler (4/5): Keep in mind the long-tail boat - After flying from Chiang Mai to Krabi, we caught a bus from the airport to Ao Nang beach expecting to get the so called long-tail boat. We had to pay 200 baths for two of us only for one way. When we got to the beach, to our surprise we then told (rather disrespectfully) by the owner of the boat to pay an additional fee for our luggage... what a joke! Expect to carry your suitcases on your back if you don't want to get your clothes wet, as you have to walk in the water a couple of hundred metres to reach the boat and there is no pier.
In addition, expect to pay for the boat every time you want to leave the place unless you want to climb the hill as it has been said in other reviews.
Disappointing overall experiece, as we decided not to get the boat and had to look for another place to stay. The information presented on the website is very misleading and should be dramatically altered in order to warn potential customers of this little problem.
- pat (8/5): Nicest place to stay in tonsai - This is the only proper modern resort that I found on the isand. The service was good, and the two tiered pool was also very nice. My only complaint was that they were doing some work on the generators, so there were four hours from noon until 4PM where there was no power. Which is just fine with the pool right there. The buffet breakfast included was very tasty as well. There's not a whole lot to do besides rock climbing around, so I would recommend this to couples or travelers that want a nice relaxing break.
- Solo Traveler (8/5): An expensive, comfortable option on Tonsai Beach - It was quite comfortable to stay here, but I really feel like it is overpriced relative to the area. It is on Tonsai Beach (between Ao Nang and Railay West) which was confusing at first, but just tell the longtail boat driver Tonsai Beach and they will take you on the next full boat. There are cheaper non-AC rooms at the resort which do not show up on the hotels.com, but are nice and comfortable.
- Cmk (8/5): Great spot-no wi fi - Great pool, great breakfast. You had to pay for Wifi. The locals called it 'hi-fi' :-)
- Amanda (10/5): absolutely wonderful! - This place is trult exceptional! Very clean, gorgeous pool, wonderful breakfast buffet!
- Gab (8/5): Good but quite remote - Great hotel but you do have to get a longboat from the mainland Krabi every time you have to get to or from the resort which is 100 Baht ($4ish) each way so it's quite remote and annoying in that sense! It was a nice hotel though and the room was very comfortable.
- Pia (8/5): Great hotel - but no wifi - The A/C deluxe rooms were nice, clean and with a beautiful balcony. The pool was really nice. The staff was nice and helpful except for a male manager, who was very rude. One BIG minus was that it said in the hotels.com hotel description that there was wifi in public areas and in the rooms, but there was NO wifi, even in public areas - for Internet, you could go to the Internet café next to the hotel. This was a big minus as I had planned to work from the hotel room one of the days, but couldn't. Hotels.com, please update the description of this hotel.
- Emma (10/5): Dream Valley Resort - Tonsai Bay - We booked this hotel as the details were that is was near Ao Nang and Krabi and seemed good value. What wasn't advised in the details about the hotel was that it is in a bay that is only accessible by longtail boat. These leave Ao Nang when they have eight people on board and you have to carry your suitcases in the sea to load them. This would be fine if we knew in advance! We had to leave a day early as the boats are not reliable as to leaving times and we had a plane to catch the final day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very Good for Tonsai - If you want the Ritz, then this is not your place. However if you are used to budget lodgings in Tonsai, then this is the Ritz compared to those lodgings. For us (rock climbers), this place was a nice retreat. Air con was great, room was spacious and clean, bathroom was large, flat screen tv was nice, pool was very nice, restaurant was great. Buffet breakfast is outstanding. We also ate several evening meals there as well. They don't serve alcohol at this establishment but you can purchase from another location and bring it with you. The only negative aspect which didn't bother us is that they do not clean your rooms. We stayed for 7 nights, and when we ran out of toiletries, I would just go to the front desk and ask for more. We've stayed at other places in this area for 6 weeks and this was the norm. Also, make sure you have a hard copy or at least a digital copy of your reservation. We had a slight glitch with our reservation but since I had a copy on my IPad, it was fine. This is also another "norm" for traveling in this part of the world.
- Alex (10/5): Best hotel on tonsai - We stayed in the pool view room, hitch I would highly recommend. Bed was king size and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool was awesome. This is the best hotel in Tonsai! Would recommend it to any climbers who can afford a little more!
- Sophie (8/5): really nice place, friendly staff, not many guests - I really enjoyed my stay at Dream Valley Resort, Tonsai. Tonsai is a relaxed beach, with a lot of backpackers and young people. If you want to experience this nice "Hippie"-vibe, without staying in a low-budget "Hippie"-bungalow, Dream Valley is the place to be. I stayed there with a friend of mine, we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet (best omelette in thailand,…), the wonderful swimming pool and the comfy beds in the deluxe room with pool view. As there is no way to go there by land, you have to take a longtailboat taxi to go to Tonsai for 100baht. That is definitely worth it, because the surrounding view is just amazing, you can see a lot of rocks around the resort, and it's directly in the jungle, not far to walk from the sea. Will go there again!
