• isabelle (10/5): Lovely hotel within the jungle - It is a beautiful hotel among the nature outside the town on top of a hill with a beautiful scenery where you can see a wonderful sunset and admire the sea.we had a comfortable room with a balcony where we go hear the birds and see squirrels.2 big swimming pool by the restaurant ,free shuttle to the town at specific time,pleasant and friendly staff.I highly recommend this hotel but be prepared with mosquito repellent .
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Unterkunft hat eine Traumhafte Lage. Zwar abgelegen, aber einfach erholsam, wenn man dem Trubel etwas entfliehen möchte. Der Steg zum Strand wurde neu gemacht und ist somit gut passierbar (keine Gefahren). Die Außenanlagen sind sauber und schön gemacht. Der Strand ist PERFEKT für Schnorchler. Wir haben viele verschiedene Spots gesehen, aber diesen hier am Strand ist der Beste. Wir haben keinen Müll, wie in einigen Bewertungen gelesen, vorgefunden. Generell sind Badeschuhe im Wasser zu empfehlen aufgrund der zahlreichen Korallen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr gut. Es gibt sogar Nutella, was wir bisher in keinem Hotel vorfinden konnten. Von warmer Küche bis kalt war alles dabei (vor allem die teilweisen frisch gepressten Säfte haben es mit angetan). Unser Zimmer ist im Bad stark renovierungsbedürftig. Es hing nicht mal mehr ein Spiegel im Badezimmer - wurde abgehängt. Beim Schlafzimmer dagegen war alles gut. Würde hier wieder Urlaub machen.

• Raphaelle (10/5): Super hotel - Super séjour à l'hôtel ! Françoise, la gérante française de l'hôtel a été aux petits soins avec nous et très réactive à toutes nos demandes ! L'hôtel est très propre et la piscine très agréable ! Un petit paradis tropical avec vue sur mer, l'accès à la plage est un peu raide pour des petits mais des excursions snorkeling sont possibles à partir de l'hôtel et des navettes gratuites depuis l'hôtel jusqu'au port ! On recommande vivement un grand merci à Françoise et son mari pour l'accueil !

• Josefine (8/5): Fint och lugnt hotell - Jättebra hotell! Mysigt läge, lugnt och skönt, stranden nedanför är lugn och erbjuder jättebra snorkling även intill land. Poolområdet var väldigt bra också.
• Sonia (4/5): Disappointing - The hotel has so much potential it's a shame they don't take care of it. One of the pools was completely green with algae you couldn't even see the bottom. The other pool was green in colour which I thought was from the colour of the tiles but when you were in it the water smelled like algae and it obviously hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The doors on the rooms didn't close properly so bugs could get in. Our shower head blew off when turning the shower on and could have hurt somebody. When we checked in we told them we needed to leave at 5am and needed someone to call us a taxi. There was nobody to be found at 5am. There were other guests trying to find staff because their shower exploded and their room was flooded. We ended up leaving them a note with our room keys because we had to leave and nobody was there to check us out. What kind of people just leave their hotel unattended all night?
• Verified traveler (4/5): awful service - we booked through Expedia but when we arrived there was no booking. not blaming this on the Hotel but they just said well there is no booking thats it and left us with the Problem. Instead of offering another room or try to contact Expedia just NOTHING. so we asked if they know other Hotels they just said no. At the end we got it sorted and they gave us a upgrate room which was nice. we should come next morning to reception to Change to the normal room, they told us we can stay in the better one. when we came back in the afternoon one mattress in our room was gone so i walked to reception and we had to move. instead of sending us staff which helps us with our bags all the stuff was sitting outside and watching how we trying to get the bags up the hill. room wasnt at all how it looked in Pictures. bathroom stunk and is really dark. pool didnt look clean just green Food wasnt very good and the two at reception seem like they dont care about you at all. But worst for us:they have two beautiful Dogs in a Cage in front of Hotel. seemed like they dont get out.

• Jeanett Eklund (6/5): Ok sted, men med forfærdelig seng og langt fra alt - Et ok hyggeligt hotel med lækkert poolområde og udemærket morgenmadsbuffet. Dog den ubehageligste madras jeg nogensinde har ligget på... Hård som sten, så man var øm i hele kroppen. Der lå dog tydeligvis en bunke af nye topmadrasser i receptionsområdet, så en udskiftning var nok på vej. Forstår bare ikke hvorfor det ikke blev gjort mens vi var der. Hotellet ligger langt fra hvor der sker noget, og har ret begrænsede tider for, hvornår man kan benytte shuttle ind til byen.
• Maksim (8/5): Отдых в Tanote villa hill - Отель находится удаленно от ночной жизни острова. Добраться возможно только на такси или своём транспорте. Также есть бесплатный трансфер, но не в удобное время. Отель рекомендую для релакса максимум на 2 ночи. Ресторан при отеле имеет несколько завышенный ценник и качество еды оставляет желать лучшего. Ни магазина, ни каких либо развлекательных заведений рядом нет. В 7 минутах ходьбы есть пляж, для купания мало пригоден. Что действительно порадовало, так это бассейн. В нем и будете проводить большую часть времени.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Zimmer mit Meerblick empfohlen! - Ruhig, fernab des Rummels, gelegenes Resort. Auch wenn das Zimmer mit Meerblick nicht günstig ist aber: Nehmen!!!! Es lohnt sich. Der Blick in die Umgebung und besonders aufs Meer ist grandios. Das Zimmer ist groß und sauber. Das Bett ist ebenfalls groß und angenehm. Das Badezimmer ist für diese Kategorie Hotelzimmer leider unterdurchschnittlich (unschönes Interieur und Kalkspuren auf den Fliesen). Das Frühstücksbuffet ist ok und die Speisekarte am Abend bietet viele landestypische Leckereien. Als Abwechslung zu einfachen Bambusbungalows auf der Reise durchs Land ist diese Unterkunft eine gute Abwechslung.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Wildromantisch mit kleinen Abzügen - Toller Ausblick aufs Meet, schöne Umgebung - Dschungel, schöner Infinity Pool. Personal sehr freundlich, super Service. Holzbrücke zum Strand gewöhnungsbedürftig - sollte saniert werden. Zimmer sehr hellhörig.
• Julien (4/5): De la poudre aux yeux.. - Chambres très mal isolées, carrelage de la piscine ultra glissant ce qui m'a valut de faire une cascade sans dommage mais j'ai eu de la chance. Travaux dès 9h puis femme de menage qui entamme les chambres a 9h30 et plus possible de dormir. Lit ultra raide. Le trajet entre le centre et cet hotel est fait clairement pr les théméraires (j'ai vu 3 personnes devant moi tomber en scooter en 5 jours). Route très difficile en scooter et c'est un pratiquant qui vous le dit. Le personnage de l'accueil comment dire... Ne dis pas bonjour, ne répond pas a vos bonjour, est affalé dans un des canapés a jouer a candycrush et même en vous voyant arriver par la vitre ne bouge pas d'un cil. 90% du personnel a la cuisine passe son temps a jouer au billard ou sur leurs smartphone. Hormis ca très calme (nous devions etre 10 dans l'hotel). Le cadre est vraiment sympas, il y a 2 petits bouisbouis juste 50m plus haut ou on mange bien, la plage au bas est sans plus. Pour finir passé 20h30 il n'y a plus personne ni à l'accueil ni au restorant, nous somme livrés a nous même en cas de nécessité quelconque. Je ne recommande pas, la probabilité de tomber sur le trajet et de payer la caution de 5000 bath ne mérite pas cet hotel qui m'a franchement déçu.
• Silvia (6/5): Hotel correcto pero de dificil acceso - El hotel es lindo pero muy alejado y de dificil acceso. La playa que tiene es muuuuy linda, se puede hacer snorkel y esta a diez minutos caminando.
• lucy (6/5): Great view, would not return. - Great pool and view however there is nothing within walking distance to do at night 500 baht (£10) taxi into town, this added a significant spend to each day, the free shuttle stops at 1.30pm to the town. Also the electricity kept failing in our family villa, although we understand as a remote location this can happen, the staff seemed not to care that it happened 4-5 times a day and did not apologise for this.
• Jessica (10/5): Heerlijk als je een paar dagen echt rust wil hebbe - Prachtig hotel, maar ver van dorp via hobbelige weg met shutlebus. Naar strand via "mooie" houten brug, maar wel vermoeiend weer terug naar hotel (loopt omhoog). Schitterende vissen aan deze kant van het eiland.

The beach is lovely although is down a very steep track or a slightly precarious wooden bridge. We loved our stay and would definitely return. We booked an extra 2 nights as we liked it so much!

• Verified traveler (6/5): Doesn't meet its full potential - Staff seem very disinterested, even unhappy. Upon check out the person who served us didn't say 'thank you' or even 'hope to see you again', just took payment. In comparison with other hotels we stayed in during the rest of our trip to thialand, the customer service at Tonate Villa Hill is lacking. Hotel itself is nice, quite, remote location on the Island. However there is just something unfinished about the place, it just didn't live up to the pictures/description. Food was good in restaurant but breakfast was limited. Glass table tops in restaurant always had a scum on them & condiments were out of date. Not much sound proofing between rooms. There are a few other bars/restaurants in Tonate Bay, 3mins walk down wooden bridge. Overall was ok but could have been so much better
• Anne (8/5): Lugnt och mysigt - Serviceinriktad vänlig personal. Mycket backigt. Lugnt mysigt område med bra snorkling i havet utanför stranden. Hotellet erbjuder shuttleservice ett par gånger om dagen till hamnen där det finns otaliga restauranger och en del shopping.

• Ingrid (8/5): Fint hotel midt i naturen. - Fint hotel beliggende i fantastiske omgivelser. Hotel og swimmingpools er bygget på og omkring eksisterende klipper og palmer, meget effektivt. Jeg rejste alene. Min oplevelse var at hotellet er ideelt for turister, der rejser parvis.
• Christian (8/5): Mitten im Jungle, an schöner Bucht gelegen. - Wir waren eine Nacht auf Koh Tao (leider waren kurzfristig nicht Verfügbar) und hatten uns aufgrund er Lage an der Ostküste (schöne kleine Buchten) für dieses Hotel entschieden. Das Zimmer war sauber und gut eingerichtet. Die Rezeption war hilfreich: wir konnten das Zimmer nutzen sobald es gereinigt wurde, die Buchung einer Fährfahrt zurück nach Koh Samui wurde auch erledigt. Es gab einen kostenfreien Transfer vom und zum Pier. Das Hotel ist am Hang im Mitten des Jungels gebaut, am Morgen waren 100te bunte Schmetterlinge im Garten. Weitere Einkaufmöglichkeiten in der Nähe gibt es nicht, am Strand sind ein paar Essensgelegenheiten. Es gibt zwei Pools in der Anlage. Die Bucht (Tanote) eignet sich gut zum Schnorcheln und entspannen. Das Frühstück kommt a la Carte und daher nicht unbegrenzt, was teils zu Kritik führt. Das Essen im Restaurant schmeckt und die Preise sind für Hotelverhältnisse okay. Für den Preis waren wir mit dem Gesamtpacket zufrienden.
• paul (8/5): lovely sport, great for the beach, unhappy staff? - We arrived to a potential problem with our room being double booked, but the hotel owner resolved the problem for us. Pickup from the pier was eifficent, and food in the restaurant was a good standard, and the facilities were amazing. 4 pools, all immaculate, with amazing views. A short walk down to the beach for great snorkelling. Lovely imaginative bathroom. But the staff seemed unhappy alot of the time, even surly? Some were ok, but in the land of smiles this seemed an exception.... We would however return.
• Jørgen (8/5): Nydelig opplevelse - Booket et 3 dagers tilbud etter flere ukers leting på nett og endte opp med å bo der i 14 dager:) Fikk et perfekt rom ( SP1 ) som ligger ca 3 skritt unna det største ( og vakre ) bassenget og var veldig fornøyd med både rommet og hotellet. Tanote ligger ca 10-15 min med scooter ( litt dårlige veier ) fra Mae Haad, men utsikten og området er nydelig. Man bruker 5 min å gå ned til stranda og der er det nydelige snorklemulighter:-)!! Manageren på Tanote er en nydelige dame som hete Manee og hun var supersnill og veldig serviceinnstilt. Lærte mye om Thailand, Koh Tao, Hotelldrift osv av henne og hun og de andre i resepsjonen var bare nydelige. Minuset med Tanote var trøbbel med WiFi og så er restauranten på hotellet meget dårlig. Valgte å spise nesten alle måltider på andre plasser selv om frokosten var gratis. Et siste pluss med Tanote er at det er rolig, rent, nytt ( 1 år gammelt det bygget vi bodde i ) og veldig nære den stranden jeg nevnte. Dro som par og vi kommer garantert tilbake:-)! Anbefaler frokost ned på stranden til Tanote ellers så hadde vi veldig gode matopplevelser på Chocolad, New Heaven, The Gallery ( beste maten av alle mine 5 turer til Thailand ) og Taco Shak. Kos dere folkens, Koh Tao og Tanote er bare helt nydelig.
• Aiste (8/5): Stunning views, but mediocre service - The hotel is in perfect surroundings with nice views. The hotel lays in perfect place with the views to die for. There are 2 amazing pools. The bad: Terrible and meager breakfast, worst i had ever seen in any hotel. Constant sewage odors, especially in restaurant area. Mediocre staff service.
• Mario & Lotta (6/5): Okey hotell - Läget är så där men dykningen är helt fantastisk, det är kanon dåliga vägar till hotellet & långt till själva stan.Personalen har dålig koll men ändå trevliga. Kvinnan som är ansvarig har örn koll och verkar sköta hela resorten själv.

• Issa (6/5): An interesting stay... - Tanote Villa Hill will go down in our long journey as perhaps one of the few places that's difficult to review. From the outside it looks as if this should be a dream retreat; it has all the hallmarks for a great getaway to what should be the quiet side of Koh Tao. The young woman at reception had a brilliant smile and welcomed us warmly. The check-in process was swift but our room was not what we'd paid for - rather it was two twin beds. When we asked about the king-size bed we'd booked we're told that the place is fully booked but that they'd try to find something for us. Eventually, we're taken to a nice room by the pool and are told a few times that it's an upgrade.When we went for dinner we asked a waiter to turn on the fan, a question that was answered with a gruff "Yeah, wait a minute" before walking off to talk to friends. Our water glasses had dried bugs stuck to the rims and there wasn't a smile our an ounce of courtesy to be found that night. To top it off, the food wasn't great and didn't seem entirely fresh. The breakfast *was* decent and we found one waiter who was great and we tried our best to sit in his section as often as possible. One of the drawbacks of the poolside room was a large group who'd bring their stereo down and blast techno for a good part of the day, drinking scotch (from the bottle) in the pool - something that went totally unchecked by staff.
• indraghosh (8/5): Great views and excellent service - Located over a cliff on the east coast with beautiful ocean views from our room. This section of the hotel was quite new and room condition and facilities excellent. Beach was accessible by a wooden bridge (quite safe) but nothing great. That holds true for the entire east coast of the island as it is mostly rocky. Hotel provided free pickup and drop off from Mae Haad pier as well as twice daily shuttle.Booked a day trip for snorkeling through hotel which was quite good as well. Reception staff were very friendly and always smiling. Overall great stay!

• Peter (8/5): Magisk sted - Dette er et spennende og mystisk sted. Trodde nesten jeg var med i en Indiana Jones film. Flott og rolig hotell, god service og mat. En fantastisk flott strand nedenfor hotellet for snorkling, dykking og bading. Ikke stedet om du søker party party . Dette stedet kan jeg anbefale på det sterkeste.
• Johan (8/5): Bästa poolen - Vi bodde här (2 vuxna & 2 barn, 10 &7) i tre nätter som en start på vår semester. Det är väldigt lugnt och personalen är bra och serviceminded. Våra barn uppskattade mest poolerna där den ena är riktigt djup och passande för att träna på snorkling etc. Nog en av de bästa poolerna jag varit med om på ett hotell. Hotellet ligger högt på kullen men det är en trevlig promenad ner till stranden där ni finner några enklare restauranger och barer. Kan verkligen rekommendera hotellet och Tanote Beach.
• Johan (8/5): Underbar pool - vi bodde på detta hotell i 3 nätter i Juni 2014, hotellet är väldigt bra det enda vi hade att klaga på var att toaletten på vårt rum spolade dåligt och att det var mycket mygg och flugor vid restaurangen. Värdinnan är kanon och väldigt hjälpsam, pratar också väldigt bra engelska. Poolerna är nog de bästa hotellpooler vi upplevt, den ena var stor och väldigt djup (ca 3m) vilket var perfekt för våra killar som ville öva snorkling och träna på att dyka från kanten. Den andra poolen var lite grundare och hade en fantastisk utsikt. Det är en ordentligt promenad ner till stranden och restaurangerna som finns där (helt ok mat) och det var lite läskigt när man skulle hem på kvällarna då den inte var upplyst eller bevakad. För er som vill ha bra standard och avkoppling rekommenderar vi detta hotell varmt. Dykningen vid stranden var väldigt bra!
• Max (8/5): Great romantic place - Friendly place with a great staff. Always a smile on the nice lady behind the counter. Loved it here :)
• Verified traveler (6/5): Great spot away from it all - Nice spot of the remote side of the island. This would be a good pick if you want to get away from the crowds. The beach is a 5 min walk down the hill. The hotel has a great view over the bay and 2 beautiful pools to enjoy the view. The restaurant looks great but the food is average. The SUNMOON restaurant up the hill from the hotel has great food though. We stayed in a sea view hotel room. Room was basic and functional. The view from the balcony was the best bit. The room, particularly the bathroom, didn't smell too good most of the time but was bearable.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice location - It was my first time in my life that i had to pay for my 2nd coffee for the included breakfast! I didn't appreciated that electricity was switched off during the night for money reasons, especially for saving money due using air conditioning system! This little details makes it difficult to let run a nice Hotel like this! Saving at the wrong place! I recommand also always to fix broken stuff around the pool immediately. It gives not a very good impression after all-even if the plants around are treated nicely. They can't hide broken chairs or umbrellas!
