Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - With route 41 closed for the Washburn fire, there were only a couple other families staying there so it was quiet. The cabin we stayed in was right next to the woods. The breakfast was very good! And we had enough towels and washcloths for the number of people registered for the room. That seems to be a challenge for most other places we’ve stayed recently.
- Chris (4/5): - Be weary of this property! The staff is odd/creepy. The room was smelly (mildew). The showery is seriously tiny and the shower head felt like a pressure washer.
I wouldn’t ever stay here again.
- joseph (8/5): - Cozy place. Clean. Breakfast was ok. No air conditioning nor tv which was fine. Staff extremely friendly and accommodating.
- Thomas (6/5): - The breakfast was good, and efficient. The rooms are small and the shower is quite small. It is adequate, and the big draw is the closeness to the Pak south entrance. It is also close to the Tenaya Lodge, which is beautiful (but pricey) but you can enjoy their lobby, grounds and restaurants.
- vladimir (6/5): - The pro: Very close to the Yosemite Park entrance.
But the room was that of a run down motel with the price of a Holiday Inn.
- susann (10/5): - 5 minutes from the National Park gate. Whisper soft air conditioners. Silent community surrounds. Super attentive staff. A basic clean and functional property. I'd happily stay again.
- Josefina (4/5): - Arrived early like before 12pm from a long driving from SD and the staff told us that she is alone and cannot entertain us - I ask her where can we wait and said I don’t know drive around and come back by 3pm…
- Katherine (10/5): - We were looking for somewhere close to the entrance of Yosemite - this certainly fit that requirement. It is an old lodge but clean and the breakfast was better than what we were provided by a hotel in San Francisco. Also, the lady responsible was so very friendly & helpful. We really enjoyed chatting with her.
- Carol L (8/5): - The property is somewhere between rustic and decrepit. But they have no doubt been affected by the pandemic, and are trying to hire people and recover. It is two miles from the entrance to Yosemite, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was good. I'm hoping they hang in there so that I can use them in the future.
- Alvin (8/5): - Room clean
- Linda (10/5): - I liked how it was situated up in the woods.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - The location is 3 miles to the Yosemite Park entrance and 37 miles to the Valley Floor. There is a nice General store in town and great restaurants in Oak Hurst 11 miles away. The cabins are nice but old fashion and more than adequate
- Nadene (8/5): - staff was excellent. The gentleman who checked us in was very helpful and had a lot of good information for us. the room was clean and comfortable. The shower was a bit small, and there wasn't a hair dryer, but everything else was great and these items weren't really a problem. Breakfast was good
- Tyler (8/5): - I've stayed here before and enjoyed the closeness to Yosemite Park. The staff is wonderful and very helpful in planning activities. The breakfast is a full home-cooked breakfast that is wonderful. The room we had was #6 which was away from the main group of rooms. Walking into the room it was very muggy. The vent in the bathroom didn't work, and the carpet was damp in front of the mini-fridge which froze everything we put in it. I like the Lodge, but it does need to be updated. It looked as if the all repairs were done by an inexperienced DIY'er.
- John (8/5): - Has good wi-fi in room. Has refrigerator and microwave in room. Has private bathroom, in contrast to Wawona where only available rooms at the time had only shared bathrooms you have to go outside in the cold to use.
- Tracy (10/5): - Very convenient for access to Yosemite. Very helpful staff. Mindy was especially helpful.
- Stephen (10/5): - Nice place to stay so close to the NP.
- Alka (10/5): - All good
- Robert (10/5): - Nice breakfast choices. Good heating in room.
- Yuriy (6/5): - 😄
- Helen (10/5): - A liked the setting in the trees!
- NORMA (10/5): - Great location, friendly staff. Clean comfortable room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Peter (6/5): Good location, OK room. - Small rustic room. Bathroom was quite dated with tile issues poorly repaired. Close to the park.
- Bev (10/5): - Rustic but it fits me. Walls are thin, bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Love the area.
- Brendon (8/5): - The woods immediately behind the property looked really nice!
- Jennifer (4/5): - The hotel room was not cleaned properly before we entered; There were Penny’s from the previous customers tip left on the countertop, the coffee machine had coffee filled inside it still, we had to put the sheets on the bed ourselves, meanwhile the comforter that they never wash was bunched up on top of the suitcase rack inside the closet area. The floors were not vacuumed either and there was other peoples hair in the sink. I’m surprise there were clean towels and sheets folded in a pile on top of the bed. I really did not expect that I would have to put the sheets and pillowcases on myself. The room has a moldy smell.
- Piyush (8/5): - The property is just 5 mins drive away from Yosemite national park. There is a nice lady who manages it, she guided us about the park attractions and have some useful tips. The room was clean and warm and amenities were good. They even have nice wi-fi. The breakfast was quite basic, but overall a wonderful stay. Plenty of parking and nice views. Will definitely stay here again.
- Choi (10/5): - The shower booth was super small and the overall property is very old, but the price was very affordable, and the front was friendly. Considering the price and the location, I would recommend staying here.
- Olga (10/5): - Happy
- Nadia (8/5): - It was very outdated but the lady who checked us in was super friendly and the area was very nice. Super close to Yosemite National Park
- Lucrecia (8/5): - The property was nice and clean.Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mountain Cottage - Cozy little cabin in the middle of nowhere Sierra Nevada Mountains. Very cute. Very Beautiful surroundings. Old “rustic” look. Very helpful front desk lady.
- saurabh (8/5): - Perfect place to stay near to Yosemite valley
- Verified traveler (6/5): Rooms need update and repairs. - Rooms need update and repairs. Faulty shower valve was dangerous. Need a larger generator for power outages. Beds were comfortable. TV channels were wonky. Walls are paper thin. Hotel manger seemed inconvenienced that we asked for a room with heat during rain and snow storm and power outage. Won't be staying there again.
- Georgann (10/5): - The lady at the lodge was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was one of the for the size of the place. It was very convenient to the park.
- Mathew (6/5): - Overall this hotel has paper thin walls where you will hear the conversations of the people next door. Staff can be very rude and honestly I wouldn’t stay here again.
- Hasan (10/5): - Excellent breakfast! Very quite! Nice staff! Highly recommended.
- Dave (8/5): - Quaint old school motel/cottages near the entrance to Yosemite. If you like a step back in time which I do, this is your place.
- Luz (10/5): Good little spot - Drove up for a wedding, husband was a groomsman so we needed to spend the night . The price attracted me right away. Check in and out were really easy. Cl
- Michael (10/5): - It was nice. Room was great w a wonderful view from cabin 4. Bathroom wasn't wasn't much to speak about. Buffet in morning was very nice. I did write a letter to Terri at yosemite miners which has gone unanswered.
- Lynn (8/5): A comfortable stop on the way home from Yosemite. - The TV remote didn't work, and we had to push the small buttons on the TV to operate. There were no instructions. The shower had good hot water, but the shower head needed repair.
The bed was very comfortable, the toiletries were ecofriendly, and the breakfast buffet was very generous with hard boiled eggs, sausage, waffle makers, choice of bread for toasting, cereals fresh fruit and yogurt.
- Pam (10/5): - Very nice - food at restaurant and pub so a bit of choice otherwise closest food is 7 miles away. Very rural but close to Yosemite
- omer (2/5): Dissapointing. - We stayed there in the past and were happy with the value for money.
This time, it was terrible.
Rooms (both) smelled of dogs, despite no pet policy.
Breakfast was very poor, with very little options even for the kids' cereal and selection of drinks.
Dissapointing.
- Marcelo (4/5): Rooms good, service horrendous. Breakfast ok - Rooms are good, they have a bit a funky smell but nothing non tolerable. We arrives by night, be Careful as Google maps doesn't have the site well located, and directions will get you somewhere else. Especially when you cannot see well by night. While the person (lady) sounded ok on the phone. In person, utter idiot. Unpleasant to interact with, rude. It is a pity as hotel itself is pretty good, clean and well located. Seems they cannot attract good personel or owner if thats the case is an idiot.
- Ammie Valenzuela (6/5): - Location to Yosemite was suburb. The lodge overall was ok. I’m just a little disappointed about the bed sheets feels like was not change 😏
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very close to park and quiet place to unwind. Wish the room was bit bigger
- Mukesh (8/5): - The property is good with clean room. The staff was courteous and the breakfast was good. The best part is its proximity with the Yosemite entry point.
- Joe (8/5): - A good room for the price in the area
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Tv no cable 10 channels only
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a very basic property, but it was clean and neat. Nothing fancy but considerably less expensive than surrounding properties. Staff was friendly and (once located) helpful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The only good part is how close it’s to the South Gate entrance to Yosemite. Rooms are terribly outdated, walls are paper thin, bathroom is very small and an average sized adult barely fits in the shower, no basic amenities like an ice machine, the continental breakfast consists of a paper bag full of stuff you can buy at a cheap gas station and last, staff is not friendly. You’re better off staying elsewhere and pay a bit more even if it means having to drive longer to get in the park. And by longer it’s only a 15-20 min drive from Oakhurst.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The woman at the front desk was very interesting. I cant even explain. The constant questioning about the breakfast. I was trying to explain we are vegetarians and she kept asking do you want sausage patty or Sausage on a stick. I started checking in at 6. At 615 she was still asking me questions. I was like we have to be down the road at 630. She was like i have important things to tell you. I responded can you do it quick and she was like no. So I was like ok and i left. Bless her heart.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - no ice machines on the property. The lady who checked us in was very friendly but office staff only on property from 3pm to 8pm. clean but very rustic...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff is friendly. Because of COVID-19, there are a lot of excused from this pandemic and we understood the situation. Room rate is way too high compare with the room we had. :(
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the location and friendly staff. Room was very clean.
Rooms were very dated, it is apparent that they are in the process of upgrading the facility. The fridge was moldy on the rubber seals.
The location and view offset any outdated rooms. I would stay here again.
- Julie (10/5): Comfy and Clean - Great check-in experience and obtaining info about surrounding area. Stayed in a “cabin” and enjoyed sitting outside with a beautiful tree grove view. Outdated yet comfortable and clean. Loved being so close to Yosemite’s South Gate.
- Donald (10/5): Fun trip - Nice place tucked away in the forest, stayed here before going to Yosemite valley. Would stay again for sure and explore the area of oak hurst for trails near by!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Our room had bedbugs. We suffered multiple bites while trying to sleep and had to spray ourselves and beds with insect repellent. We would have left the property but the roads are very dark at night.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - OK place in a wonderful location. Kind of a rustic feel, but everything is super outdated, so manage expectations accordingly. Definitely overpriced for what the accommodations are, but there aren't a lot of options this close to Yosemite so it is what it is. We were lucky to get a last min opening. We only stayed for a night and there were still a lot of Covid restrictions in place so perhaps under different circumstances it may have offered more charm than what we experienced. But overall a pleasant, quick stay on our way to Yosemite. Nothing special. Nice people.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bathroom was too small. Shower was too small. Staff was great as we had a late check in. Fridge was loud when it ran.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is OLD it reminds me of the "50's and 60's" motor court hotels along route 66. In the 50"s and 60"s it was fine but this is 2021. The room was very small, at one time it was a "smoking" room and it has never really been renovated to get the smell of cigarette smoke out of the walls and carpet. Fish Camp only has one thing to offer and that's it's proximity to the South gate of Yosmite NP. There is no place to eat or get gas you have to go 30 minutes down the mountain to Oakhurst.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - An ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! Yosemite is so beautiful but tainted by WHITE CHIEF MOUNTAIN LODGE, stay completely clear of this place. We booked a few nights stay and had a horrible experience, don't let the price fool you, I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me. The toilets and A/C had problems, they can't even figure out basic necessities, who wants to fix this when you're on vacation. My family and I couldn't even get clean towels, they said to leave the dirty ones out for replacement, I did it and when returning back from a hike it was still there, all off us ended up using small face towels. Unacceptable! On their website it says 'free breakfast', it's literally a frozen b-fast sandwich in a plastic wrapper. So with all these issues you'd think it couldn't get any worse... you're absolutely WRONG, it does. The so-called Manager named Krissy was the worst 'customer service' person I have ever dealt with. She was extremely RUDE and could care less for her customers, she seemed to hate her job and took it out on us. Was never accommodating when we had a simple ask for clean towels, always came up with an excuse about their 'free breakfast' and office hours. She truly seemed to dislike/hate everything about this place including the people. NO ONE should ever be treated the way that Krissy treated us, do not be a VICTIM and book ANYWHERE else instead. White Chief Mountain Lodge needs to be on everyones AVOID list. Take care and God Bless...
- Sean (10/5): Beautiful Yosemite View - Such a beautiful place! Stayed in cabin 5 with a beautiful view of trees and mountains each morning! The staff was very great too. This location is only 2 min away from the 41 south gate which was very convenient.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The staff was rude and rooms were nasty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - White Chief Mountain Lodge was so cute and nice. It gives you a cabin feeling when you stay. It is nestled into a quiet part of the woods and super close to Yosemite entrance. The staff was nice and understanding. They supplied a breakfast option. I would highly recommend this place to get away, relax, and explore Yosemite!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked it was a nice mountain lodge/ motels
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Lodge room was clean and comfortable. The location is somewhat remote, no eating or activities places nearby. We had to drive back to Oakhurst to eat and buy groceries, word to the wise.
- Mark (6/5): Basic accommodations - Basic accommodations close to Mariposa Grove
- Debra (6/5): - The service was great. Accommodation there was no A/C for both nights we stayed and walks are paper thin. Could hear other guests on both sides of the rooms
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super great stay here. The lady at the front desk was super friendly. I love how they still are offering a generous continental breakfast with your stay that is COVID safe - you get it to go when you check in. The walls are a bit thin but that’s really the only complaint I had. Super close to the entrance of Yosemite and a great deal
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We chose the location per review that it was only about 2 miles from the park. Actually misleading, because it is 2 miles from South entrance of Yosemite park and from entrance you still have to drive about 32 miles to the Valley. The rate was high for that location. Otherwise, the place was good enough for an overnight stay, with free wifi, breakfast, clean room, comfortable beds. Small room with not even a chair and table to sit and dine in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We made plans to go to Yosemite 4 or 5 days in advance, which is very difficult. This place was inexpensive and right near the south entrance of the park. Not the fanciest place but clean, quiet and safe. Staff was helpful. Rooms are small and shower is tiny but it served its purpose and I would stay again on short notice.
- Deborah (8/5): Fun place - View from the cabin was wonderful! Room missing bedspreads & Kleenex
- Ana (8/5): - My experience was very good, the service was great and the place was very clean
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The lodge was convenient to the South entrance of Yosemite National Park. Unfortunately, the only good food at reasonable prices was 20 minutes back down the mountains in Oakhurst.
The room was very small; the shower was smaller. Service lacked cordiality and staff seemed indifferent.
I appreciate that the pandemic and CA's medieval approach places a painful burden on service providers such as the Lodge. Still I had expected they might be happy to have the business and inclined to make our stay pleasant.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - located in the mountains 2. wooden floors echoed through out the building young kids very noisey
- Vyass (10/5): Lovely stay - This is a great place to stay near the Wawona side of Yosemite National Park. Inspire of Covid restrictions the hotel management continue to provide breakfast which now is a togo option which is very commendable. The onsite manager is very friendly and made us feel welcome.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable rooms. Staff is great, we were running late to check in and they made sure we had everything ready for our Nate arrival. Plus, you are right at the entrance of the park so the extra cost is worth it.
- Sasja (10/5): Great location to Yosemite - The location is excellent, close to the Wawona entrance of Yosemite. The room is small, but has everything you need, including a fridge and microwave. As we stayed here because of the proximity to Yosemite and spend our days in the park hiking, we were very satisfied! The office manager was very friendly!
- juliet (8/5): Surprise in the Forest 🌳 - Our first time in Fish Camp was surprisingly good. This hotel was close to Tenaya Resort Hotel & of course Yosemite. We arrived late, but the staff, Mindy, was very accommodating and thorough with COVID instructions. Tho the room was tiny, it had everything we needed. The room smelled so clean, too clean we had to air it out before we settled in. The parking was right in front of our room where we can see our car. The location was perfectly located in the midst of redwood forest.we were told a week before we arrived, this hotel was buried in 10 feet of snow!! Pretty exciting and definitely will go back in this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Decent place for the price. Super basic, no frills. Due to Covid, there’s no cleaning and breakfast was pre-packaged. The shower was small and water wasn’t very hot but it’s close to a Yosemite entrance and a cute general store/deli with good coffee.
- Sergio (10/5): Perfect! - The overall stay was better than what we expected. The room was warm, clean, with hot water, a fridge, tea/coffee maker and a comfortable bed. The check-in was smooth and Mindy was very very nice, we loved her.
Overall a great place.
- Dasha (10/5): - we loved our room. Very homey. So nice and clean, thank you so much.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very welcoming and comfortable. Was easy to access and the staff was helpful and friendly.
- jorge (8/5): 6/10 is my rate - I would like to come back is really nice and quiet space. The bathroom is to small but is enough for me but someone 6” or more is not the best experience. Easy check in. The temperature of the room it was nice. The coffee maker is in the wrong place so is a little uncomfortable. The Beth is just perfect. 6/10 is my rate
- Aviral (6/5): - Property was good. My experience was bad because of Expedia. I booked the room for 3 people but expedia communicated only 2 people for the room which has occupancy of 3. I was charged extra fee on arrival at the lodge as a result. Should have booked this place from a different site.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This hotel is old and the room was small, but it is in a great location- closest to the entrance of Yosemite- and it has the essentials- microwave, fridge, TV, and a comfy bed.
- Christine (10/5): Informative - The lady checking me in was very friendly and informative. I also appreciated they had a bag breakfast which I got to pick the items inside - most hotels have not done anything so it was great considering I wanted to leave by 7am to get to the park early.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Tidy and clean but disappointing - This place already has only very basic amenities (i.e. tiny showers, on-the-go breakfast due to COVID-19). It would have been fine with us, except that while we were there, we experienced a 24+ hour power outage, and were extremely disappointed with the seeming lack of care from the staff. There were MAYBE 5 other rooms occupied the same time as us, so it's not like they were overwhelmed and busy. There was no way to make hot coffee in the rooms, and we asked once at the office (after coming back from a 6 hour hike in Yosemite). We were told very curtly by the man there that there was NO WAY he could give us access to a backup generator-powered outlet or make a single cup of hot coffee for us (we would have done it ourselves!!!). We literally got the feeling that the staff could care less if we stayed or left, so we checked out a day early and found a different hotel with power (and super accommodating, friendly staff) to spend the rest of our getaway at.
- Jennifer (6/5): - Horrible water pressure in the shower. Not so great after a full day of hiking. Great location to the parks and convenient to food and essentials. The WiFi was terrible and never connected.
- ct (2/5): - The beds sunk and smelled like urine. The breakfast was awfull. I asked for groundfloor. I had to climb 12 steps. I'm older and have problems with my legs.
When i booked with expedia i was quoted $107 a njght then i was charged $139 a night.
- Willott (8/5): - Property was clean , comfortable. Mindy was very helpful and friendly. Will O.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place, nice staff. Too bad there was giant fire and we were told we had to leave, but the owners got us a room in another one of their hotels away from the fire at no additional cost. Not ideal but but at least we didn't have to look around last minute to find a hotel during Labor Day weekend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - felt safe during Covid.
pre packed breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dont bother - Charged us the wrong rate and would not fix or offer any help to rectify. Frozen food breakfast and they didn’t care if we were even there or not. In fact not friendly in any way.
- Jfalcala (4/5): - Tne whole Lodge was clean the only thing i dint like was the service at check in this older lady was rude maybe she was having a bad hair day
- Elva (10/5): - This place is very nice and the staff was very nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cabin was nice. Had a porch view to relax and wind down at the end of a day exploring. No frills but all the comforts needed were available.
- Robin (10/5): Cute Lodge - My room was small and retro but really impeccably clean! The staff were extremely kind and the location was unbeatable. This was most affordable option close to Yosemite! The proximity to the park was great! Would definitely stay again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The good things were quiet, close to Yosemite entrance, and clean room. What we didn't like: Very small, dark room. Shower extremely small. When I asked for two more pillows, they refused to give me any. There was only one thin pillow for each of us. The motel was not even close to being full, so they could have taken pillows from another room, but said because of covid they couldn't. The three nights we were there, there were only four other rooms used. There were at least thirty rooms. When I asked to check out one day early because my 92 year old mother was sick and I wanted to go home to her, the on-site manager told me to email the regional manager. I did immediately and titled it Tommorow, but I never heard from her. Four days later, I still haven't heard from her. Fortunately, my sister called the morning we were going to head home and said mom was doing fine. So, we stayed.
I would never stay here, again. Poorly managed, very small and dark room. No where to sit in or out of the room. I am disabled and sitting in bed is very difficult for me. I had wanted another pillow for my leg because I am disabled. I told them that, but they didn't care.
One last thing, I should have known better then to stay here, when anyone wrote something that needed attention, they were answered with 'thank you for the
