Guest Reviews
- Jacqueline (8/5): Would stay here again - Easy to find. The bed was comfy, owners were great, friendly & helpful. Breakfast lively especially the homemade partridge berry pancakes.
- Jamie (6/5): - Very clean Cluttered, dated
- Leslie (10/5): Beautiful historic home with gracious hosts - Greg and Lorraine were wonderful hosts with lots of ideas for things to see and stories about local history on the peninsula. Greg cooked wonderful Partridge Berry pancakes for us for breakfast. "The Captain's Quarters" was a cozy and warm room. The house is an old 2nd Empire structure which has been lovingly restored. We really enjoyed our stay and although the house is on the highway, we didn't hear any noise. Definitely 2 thumbs up!
- Ann (10/5): -
- Murray (9/5): - Breakfast was good, location was good, facility a little dated but quite comfortable

- malcolm (10/5): - Made you feel it was a pleasure to let them serve you...
- Harry Charles David (10/5): A great experience - Fantastic place. Very cosy and welcoming. Totally recommended.

- Derek (10/5): Heritage Classic - Beautiful Heritage Property. Friendly hosts. Very comfortable. Enjoyed our stay
- Lee-Anne (2/5): Scammed!!! Beware. - Definitely not a good place to go. The owners tried to overcharge 230.00 on my credit card twice then a charge of 149.50 was on my credit card. it was a nonauthorize charge. Found out this after we have left once I had cell service to check on my credit card. When I saw this, I tried calling and they wouldn't answer so I used my husband's cell. The husband answered right away. He told me to talk to his wife who was suppose to call me but never did. I have tried calling multiple times but they wouldn't answer. Don't trust these people.
- Reza (9/5): -
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - Excellent breakfast. Super friendly hosts. I would have liked to have a kettle available to boil water for tea or coffee in the evening without having to ask the host to boil water for us in their kitchen.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allen (10/5): Hosts are very friendly and engage in conversations. Felt welcome right away. Everything is clean, breakfast was great a - Heritage homes are unique places to stay and visit. This one was great It was great, no concerns

The room was a good size, the beds were comfy and everything was super clean and well looked after.; Breakfasts were great. The garden was beautiful. We stayed for three nights and couldn't have wished for a nicer experience We recommend the Spaniards Room Heritage Home to anyone visiting the area.
- Kathy (9/5): Great experience. - Accommodations were lovely and breakfast was very good. Lovely hosts! Would have preferred ground floor room because of mobility issues.
- Wendy (10/5): Great hosts, location and delicious breakfast! - Our hosts were helpful and lovely. Breakfast was delicious! It was a perfect stop over en route back to St. John's.
- Kent (9/5): Would recommend to friends and we would return in the future. - Breakfast was perfect. Hosts were excellent. Facilities are updated and well-maintained. Location is on a busy street, so noise was a factor, not terrible though.
- Michelle (10/5): Great stay. Unfortunately we had to leave early so we didn’t get the great breakfast but Lorraine put out some toast and - Lovely house, lovely people.
- michaeld (10/5): - Nice room, & breakfast & friendly
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Sid (10/5): - We received a warm welcome from the proprietors in spite of the fact that we arrived early, and they were in the throes of vacuuming. They recommended an excellent local cafe for lunch, and later in the evening shared their outdoor space and conversation over a glass or two of wine. Thanks for a fabulous newfie welcome!
- Aleksandar (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (9/5): Short and sweet! - Good communication, clean and comfortable, hospitable and caring owners. It was all good.
- Yunna (10/5): - Excellent service, amazing hosts.
- Linda (9/5): Stayed here two years ago would stay again lovely people - Enjoy their gardens conversation. Breakfast was great company was good.
- Donald (10/5): - Owner operators friendly and willing to please. Great interaction with visitors.
- Ward (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (6/5): Quaint but cluttered - Friendliness of staff Noice of highway.
They are marketing it as a heritage heritage and and have consequently filled it with too many trinkets ag objects that fill the needed space. Needs more power outlets
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wenda (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): - While we were wondering about the property because of initial perceptions that the exterior needed some attention, we could not have been happier with what we experienced, including very friendly hosts, a nice room and a very nice breakfast. We would highly recommend it.
- Debbie (9/5): Very good stay with very froendly owner. - Owner and her breakfast were outstanding.
Older place with that kind of charm.
- Myles (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at The Spaniards Room. The hosts Greg and Lorraine were both very kind and welcoming. The home itself is gorgeous and filled with so much history. The sleeping area and bathroom were clean, spacious, and comfortable, with air conditioning and cable television provided. We cannot recommend this bed and breakfast enough for those visiting the area.
- Elaine (10/5): Fantastic Stay - The accommodations were very comfortable and very spacious. The hosts were very friendly and ensured we had all the information we needed. Breakfast was absolutely awesome. I highly recommend this BnB to any traveller or just someone wanting a quick getaway. Everything was awesome. The only thing I can comment on would be to have a small mini fridge in each room. This would allow guests to store fruit, pop, or even water, or medication.
Other than that maybe some extra glasses and a coffeemaker with the appropriate supplies would be great.
When you live in Newfoundland, got to have your cup of tea before bed.
But frankly, this place is a gem. The history of the place is astounding and surrounds you from the displays of pictures, furniture, etc.
- Dan (7/5): Friendly hosts and decent value for money in a heritage home. - The hosts were friendly and the breakfast was good. The room advertised a sea view but that is definitely a stretch. The room also did not have a lock on it which is the first time I've encountered this. I'm not questioning the hosts' honesty but there are other guests who could potentially have access to the room while away from it.
- Krisandra (9/5): Recommend this bnb - Hosts were very hospitable and accommodating
Gave good tips exploring the area
- Joseph (10/5): Great stay! - Very cozy and clean. Friendly and helpful proprietors. Excellent breakfast - still trying to figure out how how she made perfect poached eggs!
- Richard (10/5): See above! We were warmly welconed, comfortable accommodated and supported with valuable local knowledge.as we planned o - Lorraine was the perfect host. She gave us a warm welcome and was so helpful in planning our local outings and activities.
The accommodation was beautiful, in a period house with memorabilia and comfortable furnishings. This is a great location for touring the Baccalieu Trail.
Perfect for our needs. Nothing. This stay was everything we hoped for.
- Gareth (10/5): - Breakfast was included. You had several choices and was also nice to sit with other travellers and share stories.
- Mark (10/5): - Lovely heritage property. The owners were very accommodating and made us feel right at home
- Madison (10/5): - Incredible hosts who go above and beyond to make you feel at home. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and filling and the home made jams with it were a bonus. Thank you Lorraine and Greg for a wonderful stay!
- Sylvia (8/5): Very good -
- John (9/5): Unique character of room and home with historical building. - Friendly staff. Ease of check in. Bedroom was warm on arrival but fan quickly cooled off room. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom...very satisfied with stay. Great full breakfast in morning.. Unique character of room and home with historical building and welcoming owners. all good!
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast was very good
- Angie (10/5): - The owners were very nice! We will definitely be back!!
- Brenda (10/5): It was very pleasurable, the house was so cozy and comfortable. - The breakfast was amazing, her baked beans were delicious. The coffee was the best I have ever had, they were both so friendly, helpful, and the sweetest. I can’t wait to return!
- Rebecca (10/5): Welcoming and warm. - Very cute home with such gracious, down to earth local hosts who not only welcomed us into their home, but gave us great ideas of where to go and what to do. Comfortable bed, clean sheets and towels, private bathroom, and a delicious breakfast. 10/10 would go again (and we did - booked an extra night because of how great our experience was).
- Edgar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joyce (9/5): It was wonderful - Loved all the antiques
Beds were so comfortable 🥰
Very friendly owners
- Norma (10/5): - The hosts were wonderful. Helpful tips and the breakfasts were very good!
- C. (10/5): A Great Stay in Spaniard Bay - The hosts were so outgoing and friendly. They were able to provide a great deal of information about the area and opportunities available.
- Sarah (10/5): - Easy check-in. Owners were welcoming and helpful. They gave us many suggestions for hiking and things to see and do on the eastern side of the island and gave us an understanding of Newfoundland history. Breakfast had some fabulous choices and always cooked to our specifications. The home is a historic site and, as such, has windows that do not close out the road noise but that is easily forgotten with an earplug or the white noise of a fan. Would highly recommend.
- Lin (6/5): - No private place to sit
- Arlene (9/5): Comfortable stay, excellent breakfast, good company! - Owners Lorraine and Greg are very personable and made me feel right at home. Breakfast was exceptional! Classifying the room I had as “ocean view” is a stretch, as I imagine the trees are growing so fast that they obscure what view there may have been at one time. Not a big deal, and I got a chuckle out of it!
- Alexandra (9/5): We enjoyed our stay and Greg and Lorraine were very accommodating of our schedule! - Breakfast was good! One suggestion would be to offer fresh seasonal fruits on the side but otherwise, we loved it! See above, perhaps offering some fresh fruit on the side with breakfast.
- Bernice (10/5): - It was a beautiful heritage house with great character. Greg and Lorraine were perfect hosts sharing stories about the area and Newfoundland history. Breakfast was very good and they even made a special dinner with local ingredients that was outstanding.
The beds were super comfortable.
Would definitely recommend.
- James (10/5): - Beautiful character home and friendly hosts with very helpful advice for local sights and hikes! Would go back in a heartbeat.
- Zichun (10/5): Exceptional - The house itself nothing
- Cristinette (10/5): Has a Homey feeling - Breakfast was great and has few options.
The location is Great and not far from St. John
- Katie (8/5): Very good - Welcoming hosts. Good breakfast.
- Terry (8/5): - Very friendly hosts. Clean and convenient to amenities. Beautiful historic home well-maintained. Good value for the cost.
- Arthur (8/5): Thank you for your kindness. - The breakfast was very good. Thank you for the extra effort to make hot chocolate. The hosts are very engaging and thoughtful people. Always ready to help in anyway needed. I will refer this Inn to other travelers.
- Dan (10/5): - Excellent hosts. I was delayed by a day. They were very understanding and great at communication.
- Helena (10/5): - The Spaniards “Room” Heritage Home
Spaniard's Bay was a treat to visit. Lovely hosts and the accommodations were very comfortable. An excellent breakfast was served in the morning. It's a 'team effort' to create this welcoming atmosphere and if you're looking for good people with an ability to make you welcome ... this is the place to go.
- Brenda (7/5): Good for one night stay - Heritage home interesting, hosts were friendly Breakfast could have added a little fresh fruit and yogurts.
- Walsh (9/5): Superb -
- George (10/5): - This is our second stay at the B&B. The hosts are very friendly, the house is quaint with well appointed and comfortable rooms. Air conditioning is provided in each room which is great. Breakfast is certainly a plus of your choice of a full cooked breakfast. We each had the eggs, bacon, toast juice coffee/tea option. Fantastic meal. The homemade jams are great. Not a bad price at all including the full breakfast served. Conversation with the others at the table is nice as well. We highly recommend the Spaniard's Room Heritage Home for anyone looking for accommodations.
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Dwayne (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Clean, friendly, great location, easily acessed. Beautiful older well kept property Nothing inparticular. The stay was comfortable and welcoming.
- Leslie (10/5): Perfect location! - The rooms were very comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this property.
- Prescott (8/5): Very good - Very nice owners who live on site. Not within walking distance of much
- Peggy (10/5): Very nice place - The rooms were very clean. The hostess was very friendly and informative. There were no seafood restaurants anywhere around the place
- Wendy (10/5): Felt like home ! - Beautiful old building that was so comfortable and decorated beautifully . Breakfast was great , room was spacious and it was quiet . But best part was talking with hosts , Lorraine , Gary and brother Paul. It was like visiting old friends . Full of stories , advice on what to go see and stories about Newfoundland . Location was easy to find and there was parking . Not one complaint . Five stars in my book !!!!
- Wendy (9/5): Very friendly and kind hosts in historic home. - Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Delicious breakfast organized with options and time the night previous. Small bar fridge for guest use on 3rd floor for guests who rent the two rooms on that floor. Great AC in both rooms 3rd floor. Sitting room two small chairs with small tv end of hall in 3rd floor but double room rental. Larger sitting room downstairs, appeared to be part of host home and not for use by guests. Host was very accommodating to make a cup of tea or coffee out of their kitchen, but appeared to not have guest facilities to make your own coffee and tea.
- Jan (10/5): - Great hosts and lovely rooms.
- Raymond (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay in a heritage house. Hosts were very friendly and helpful of area information and hi lights for day trips as well as restaurant in area .

- Valentina (10/5): A lovely couple stay - The historical building is beautiful and the hosts are so lovely that they just make you feel at home 🥰 the breakfast was exceptional! Everything is well organised and thought out and the WiFi is the best we had in the entire trip (including fancy hotels). You are in for a treat, we would definitely have stayed longer if we could!
- Helen (10/5): - It is a heritage house, with an interesting history. The owners are very welcoming and helpful, with great suggestions about places to visit and dine locally.
- Dianne (9/5): Superb - The breakfast was fine. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful re where to go and what to do. The heritage property was in a good location. Parking was available. The bed was somewhat soft.
- Mark (10/5): The hosts were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable and we would definitely stay here again. - The location was ideal for our travel purposes. The hosts made us feel very welcome and were more than willing to share their knowledge of the local area and places to visit. The breakfast was excellent. We would recommend this B&B to friends and family.
- Heather (8/5): Friendly, hospitable and knowledgable hosts in a historic home. - The hosts, character home, breakfast was made to order, host gave maps and hints to see and do in the area.
