Guest Reviews
- Danielle (1/5): -
- Smith (10/5): Excellent stay, great staff at front desk. - Breakfast All good
- Gtrotter2008 (6/5): Easy to find, just few minutes from main roads - Good location, easy to get from main roads. Good sleeping quality. This hotel gets crowded at least during the weekdays with workers and their trucks (you might have to leave your car bit further way from the hotel) although the surrounding areas have plenty of parking lots. Friendly and helpful staff.
- Maria Milene (7/5): Pleasant stay. - Location, staff at the breakfast room. Cleanliness of the room. We found an empty can of Pringles and a water bottle underneath the bed, which were likely missed by the housekeeper as they were not in a visible area.
- Richard (9/5): Would come back - breakfast eggs were bad
Other items were acceptable
Loved kitchen in room
Hotel location wAS OK NA
- Schaaf (4/5): Won't be back - Breakfast and hot tub were great. Staff very friendly. Room wasnt very clean. Noticeable toothpaste splatters on bathroom mirror and shower not cleaned well ... noticeable mold/scum and hair. Doors/drawers of cabinets in kitchenette full of fingerprints and spill marks. Bed had weird mattress protector that had elastics in corners but didnt go down sides of mattress and wouldnt stay on without coming off or bunching up. When fixing position of mattress protector noticed mattress was full of stains underneath.

- Jaclyn (10/5): -
- Susie (10/5): Welcoming staff - Clean Parking
- Susie (10/5): Nice rooms comfortable - Clean and safe Parking was scary for a single women travelling
- Denis Dawson (9/5): One very pleasant sray - Beautiful suites. Very convenient to groceries and shopping. We were needing some healthy snacks but none available.
- Lennart (10/5): -

- yyzKMAC (8/5): Decent home away from home - Traveled for work. Was pleased overall with the room and amenities. Housekeeping was inconsistent during my stay, and the thermostat changed on its own during the night which made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Smart TV in the room was excellent. Kitchen could have been better stocked. I stayed in 2 separate rooms over the course of 7 days, and the kitchen amenities were inconsistent.
- Cindi (8/5): - Good location.
- michael (10/5): - Would stay again
- Jackie (8/5): -
- Robert Scott (8/5): - Staff were friendly, clean hotel inside and out.
- Wendy (10/5): - Loved the fact my cat could stay with me .....huge thank you !
- Christopher (6/5): - We purchased a king bed room and was given a queen. They stated they had no king available and did not offer reimbursement. Our thermostat would not work. I brought it up multiple times with the staff. They did send a maintenance person and he could not help. The staff stated many times they would have it fixed soon. No one showed in our two day stay.
- Vakeesan (6/5): - outdated building. needs renovation, upgrades etc.
- Jaridom (10/5): - Nice and clean room. Good amenities.
- James (9/5): -
- Jeremy (10/5): - A+++
Will stay here again.
- Jan (10/5): - Staff was very friendly. Hotel was very clean and the morning breakfast was fantastic.
- Dragon2075 (8/5): - This is a decent hotel that could use a little attention in deep cleaning the washroom. There was quite a build up of black debris in the shower. The rest of the room appeared clean. The kitchenette included a fridge, stovetop, microwave and dishwasher. Basic kitchen ware was also included. The breakfast was standard- eggs, meat, waffles, etc. The coffee was fantastic. We didn't use the pool or fitness room.
- Marion (8/5): - Omar, the front desk staff member was ver friendly and helpful. He offered places to see in Thunder Bay and made restaurant suggestions. He made us feel very welcome. The hotel was nice, but the public areas and hallways could use a good cleaning. The room was clean, large and had a full size frig, which was nice. Linens were fairly plush. Bathroom was large.
- Tyler (8/5): -
- BALAMURUGAN (8/5): - All good
- Daria (8/5): Very nice property in Thunder Bay - We enjoyed our stay at the Marriott TownePlace Suites. The location was close to restaurants and hotels at the waterfront. The bed was comfortable and the room had more storage than I had ever seen, even in a suite. It had a full kitchen as well. The only downsides were the very poor quality of the pillows, and trying to avoid the big potholes driving into the parking lot.
- Carol (8/5): - The staff were wonderful and breakfast was great. It was so convenient to have a full kitchen. I would have given 5 stars, but for some reason housekeeping forgot to make up our room one day.
- Conrad (10/5): - Awesome place but sadly didn’t make my check in time as me ride broke down on the expressway outside of Thunder Bay
- Paola (10/5): - Excellent hotel for families.
- Paul (10/5): - Lucas helped me check in and was super friendly, let us know all the details of the hotel like when breakfast was and where everything was located and even gave us great recommendations for local restaurants in the area.
- Julia (8/5): - The hotel and our room were clean. The breakfast had a great selection of foods in the morning.
- Julie (10/5): - Very nice spot to stay!
- Marilyn (6/5): - good breakfast The property was old.
- Carmela (8/5): - Staff were very friendly. A little expensive for what you are getting.
- Connie (10/5): - Everything was great, except for a one minor issue. The coffee pot in our room had no lid, but staff were very attentive to this issue. 24/7 coffee in the breakfast room was wonderful! Early breakfast at 6:30am. Breakfast was amazing! Rooms were very clean and very comfy beds. Hotel is super clean. A special shout out to Pritish who went above and beyond in guest services. He really made us feel very welcome. Overall this place deserves 5 stars in every category!! Would stay here most definitely if ever in Thunder Bay again!! By far the best hotel stay of our road trip.
- Chanequa (6/5): Grimy and Delightful - When I checked in, the front desk attendant Omar was enthusiastic and very welcoming. Our room was clean, or so I thought. Upon entering the restroom in the morning and getting ready for a shower, my eyes zoomed into every corner and crevice of the shower stall and to my dismay, there was black and pink looking mold. It was built up all along the base of the glass door to enter the shower. I let the new attendant know and she seemed confused and stated she would get someone to come look. I was annoyed but I waited from 10-4pm and no one came. I went back and the evening attendant sent someone within 20 minutes. It was cleaned thoroughly! Breakfast was good, much variety and the hotel is mostly quiet unless you are near an elevator. Lastly, I tried to contact Hotels for support but the app was blocking me from typing.
- Dennis (6/5): - Bedside lights and power outlets not working
Large hotel with long corridors
Great breakfast room selection of food items
- Dawn (4/5): Run down. Expect better from the Marriott brand - The first room they gave us was not cleaned. There were dirty towels in the bathroom and food left in the cupboard and it smelled like stale turmeric. The dining table had a chair with a broken seat. I moved the chair and the seat fell off! We made them give us a different room and it was marginally better. Very run down and worn. I expect so much better from a Marriott. The sitting chair was so worn and dirty we didn’t even use it. We took the sheet off one of the beds and laid it on the floor to put our suitcases on. It was just nasty. I would avoid staying in Thunder Bay all together. And the room was expensive!!
- janw534 (2/5): Avoid this place! - When we arrived our first room had brown stains on the mattress and stains on the white bedspread so they gave us another room. This one had rotten food in the door of the fridge and dried up food on the counter. The shower had moldy, dirty areas in the corners and a stained floor. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. Maid service was a joke. No coffee for 2 days, I finally went down for some plus a washcloth we were missing. We were there for a week and couldn’t have used a bedding change but no. We also were there for a funeral so who needs the extra stress of a crappy room??? The couch was also stained. Oh and it’s a small bachelor suite with everything in one room, not the spacious lay out that the pictures show. The smell of chlorine from the pool hits hard when you walk into the lobby. The people at the front desk were friendly but not effective. We do NOT recommend staying here.
- Sunil Kumar (10/5): - Overall great to stay at this hotel.
- Brenda (10/5): - We had a long stay as we were out of our house due to a fire and I can’t comment enough how accommodating they were for us
- Miryan (10/5): - The staff were courteous and friendly. The room was very clean.
- Kevin (10/5): - Room layout is very efficient, with plenty of storage available; there is a grocery store right next door, which is handy for quickly stocking the kitchen. Staff was very friendly at check-in, and very helpful as things came up.
Gets a bit noisy first thing in the morning, but overall a great value for longer stays if you're spending most of the day out and about.
- Brian (6/5): - Not super clean. Asked for a sent free room - but they couldn’t deliver
- Maurice (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andy (8/5): - Clean and quiet
- Brendan (8/5): Very good -
- Rachel (8/5): - Breakfast is good and studio suite is complete with kitchen stuffs.
- Joey (10/5): - Kitchen in the room.
- Potties (9/5): Superb -
- Nidia esther (10/5): - Very clean, great breakfast included
- Annamarie (10/5): - Great service checking in, helpful staff, cleanliness is awesome. Considerate staff very friendly and helpful.
- Wynona (10/5): - I loved everything about this hotel.
- John (5/5): itv was ok once we finally got in. - Food selection was good the fellow who was cleaning was attentive I had let the booking people know we a were arriving early I know you have times but the only answer from lady when we came at about 130 was we would have to wait because checkout was Noon.
Now I have been doing this for a long time to the entire hotel does not wait until Noon to checkout.
She made NO effort to help othe3r than sending us to the breakroom to wait. Another person with orange hair took over the front desk r5esposibilties at about 3 pm so around 330 I approached him, and he said there is nothing ready but if we changed our room request, he could accommodate us. Simple fix but it required a small bit of initiative on the part of the desk clerk
- Krista (10/5): - Kitchen and table.
- FrankSuzanne (10/5): - Right there on main highway. Was nice not to have to cross town to find it. Our dog Griffin felt comfortable with the staff and in the room. We’ve stayed here before and will take advantage of it again in the future.
- Iris (10/5): - We enjoyed staying there, only problem was the holes in the road to get to it.
- Randell (10/5): - Stayed here many times. Right on Hwy but quiet
- Lydia (10/5): - Loved having a kitchen in the room. The staff were so friendly and warm. Everything was clean. I really enjoyed my stay.
- Maria (8/5): - The only downfall is they don’t clean the rooms…I was there for 4 nights. A bit disappointing
- Deanne (6/5): - Staff is AMAZING! Interior (rooms) could use some updating.
- Thorrot (6/5): - Close to. Restaurants and shopping. The room was small ,the bathroom fan did not work when l told the front desk employee they said they would report that to maintenance. No one came to look at it.At times a light in the bathroom and one over the work desk would flicker rapidly like a strobe, very annoying! The included breakfast was good. The pool was nice and clean and heated .
- Steve (10/5): Overall pleasant stay - Rooms were very clean and modern. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had some very tasty options. Will stay again.
- Sabrina (10/5): - The rooms are beautiful and the staff is very kind and helpful! I always enjoy my stay. Breakfast is good too.
- Tina (6/5): - It was close to downtown, the breakfast is decent and its nice that we had an apartment suite so we weren't eating out all the time
- Cori-ann (8/5): Very good - Clean, friendly , and great location Pool was unavailable
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (8/5): - I was upset that the TV was not working for the first 7 days we were there. We wanted to watch some of the Scotties curling on TV as seniors we can't always attend 3 games a day and usually pick which 2 to go to and which one we will watch on TV. It was frustrating to rest in your room and nothing to watch. Being senior, senior we are not up on all the newest technology for streaming, still count on TVs. I thought we would have received a discount but even when I asked for a print out of my bill I only got one page and didn't get the full bill. We liked the room and the transportation service we got to the Scotties, also nice to have the grocery store nearby. Gail Rowlandson
- Jason (10/5): - A convenient hotel for a family vacation: pool, hot breakfast, adjacent to grocery store, good location, and kitchen in the room.
- Andy (10/5): - Overall great experience, good breakfast and clean
- Melissa (10/5): - Check in was fast
- Blaine (10/5): - I like how everything was in walking distance, mall, A&W, superstore, Tim’s and etc right in the middle of town!
- Daniel (10/5): - Being stuck in Thunder Bay I really enjoyed this property.
- Ma (8/5): Very good -
- Andy (10/5): - Parking was good food and cleaning was great.
- Sarah (4/5): - Was central to all amenities
The room we were in wasn’t very clean
- Amber (8/5): Great rooms. Great staff. Great location easy access. - The size of the rooms. The staff were excellent. Breakfast bar did not open until 7 am.
- Jaykwon (10/5): - Great area for the hotel.
- Joey (8/5): - good breakfast
- Darren (6/5): - Bathroom was dirty. Hair elastic on the counter. Soap open. Only 1 towel. Hair dryer laying on the floor
- 962franciso (10/5): Excellent - There is full breakfast. Not continental. Eggs, omelettes, waffles with fruit, bacon sausage cereal yogurt… everything you could want for breakfast. The dining room is meticulously clean and tidy. The fellow Glen was looking after it and you could tell he was proud of his work. The place was spotless. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. This hotel is in a very convenient place, close to some excellent restaurants like the Keg, Montanas and the Caribou which are a very short walk away. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The pool and hot tub were clean and temps were perfect for a first thing swim. Will be back for sure.
- Brenda (8/5): - Welcoming staff. Breakfast consisted of hot & cold buffet. Coffee, juice, fresh fruit, make your own waffles, eggs (various styles), hot oatmeal & cold cereals, bread & bagels. Room with 2 qn beds was comfortable & clean. Well equipped kitchenette. Large tv and room to spread out and relax.
- Dean (6/5): - Rented a one bedroom suite for 3. King bed in bedroom was comfortable. The pull out loveseat making a bed was gross!! Mattress was warm beyond comfort( needs replacement). With the suite we expected a pot/pan in suite for use, no such thing. We had a stove top to cook but no pot or pan to cook with? Not what we expected nor wanted!! The rest of the suite was fine. Clean, tidy, and roomy. Will not return. For the price will look elsewhere.
- Rory (10/5): - Great place to stay
- Helene (10/5): - I really liked the location of this hotel. I also enjoyed the fact that there was a kitchenette if we wanted to cook and the size of fridge was fantastic. The continental breakfast was also very good.
- Shedivy (9/5): Nice staff. Very accomodating. -
- Derek (10/5): - Place was quiet, staff was friendly, only complaint is the smoking are is to close to the building for my liking, can smell cigarette as soon as I walk outside.
- Michael (10/5): - I'd definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying in the Thunder Bay area. While it's not close to any sort of Lake view, it's conveniently located near restaurants and a quick drive to the lake. It was clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable.
- Craig Edward (8/5): - Room smelled stale when I checked in. Don’t get a room on the North side of the hotel. There were rigs idling all night in the parking lot next door and the garbage trucks emptying the big bins behind the hotel will make a wake up call completely unnecessary. All that being said, the staff were fantastic and the free coffee was good. Fridge and microwave in the room came in handy. The included breakfast was ok…does anyone seriously eat turkey bacon? The noise notwithstanding, it’s a good location close to food options, groceries, and centrally located.
- acneball (8/5): Pretty good visit - I enjoyed my stay here. I was here for work and didn't spend too much time in my room. But overall it quite nice. The staff was very nice and the room was really clean. It wasn't too far from some good restaurants. The breakfast was actually quite good with a good variety of food, including warm options. I would definitely stay here again.
- Irene (6/5): - Somewhat dirty property...dirty bathroom, microwave and curtains
- Reinhild (10/5): Try it out - Front desk so helpful and wngaging
- Zhenyang (7/5): Good -
- Alexander Uriel (8/5): - The room was really nice, big and had a good kitchen. Breakfast was good and we did get a chance to use the pool. The neighbourhood itself is OK, though it had some good shopping in the area
- lindabD3872YO (4/5): Need to learn to clean rooms properly. - Stayed here for 6 weeks for medical reason for my husband. We wanted a place were we could cook our own meals on occasion, the pans were so big you could only use I element , so cooking wax bvety limited. The front desk personal were excellent , helpful and friendly. Now let's get to housekeeping, like I said we were there for 6 weeks, not once were are beds changed and clean bedding put on, as for the bathroom my husband finally asked one worker if they had a toilet brush, when they said yes he told them to use it and clean our bathroom. They deal with a lot of First Nation people which my husband is one and I hope this thought in my head is wrong but is this the reason our rooms were not cleaned properly. Nice hotel but rooms filthy.
