Guest Reviews
- Marymir (10/5): -
- Ramona (1/5): Very unhappy with location, room and staff - Not a thing. The room was small, The customer service was bellow standards. We had to park our car 5 blocks away and walk our luggage to the hotel. The directions to the parking from staff were unclear. At 8am there was no breakfast available. Truly disappointed, We checked out a day early and were told we wouldn’t get a refund
- diana (9/5): Great - Full service restaurant and bar
- Robert (9/5): An old world hotel, not to be missed. - The staff, old world decor, high ceilings, furnishings, artwork, beautiful place! All was fine!
- Monica (9/5): Everything was good, but they need to have a variety for breakfast when you’re staying there for more than one night. Do - Beautiful property historical Amenities an architecture
- Amalia (10/5): -
- Lynn (10/5): See above - Quaint & cozy It was a fabulous stay
- Iliana (8/5): Buena - EL CONCEPTO DEL HOTEL, BELLO.... Que no tuviera Parking aunque nos facilitaron una cochera y que no tuvieran leche deslactosada en el desyuno
- Linda (10/5): - The property is unique and beautiful, great historic hotel… every time you come in into any room is a wow! Great plus with rooftop ❤️
- Ricardo (10/5): 10/10 absolutely gorgeous boutique hotel - Beautiful place. Built in the 1800’s for religious Obispos, then a school for women, then a family had it for many years and turned it into a gorgeous boutique hotel. They’ve tried to keep as much of its original history as possible.
- Maupin (10/5): The history of the building and neighborhood is in the air and you can’t help but feel like a rich politician from the 1 - The ambiance, the rooftop, the food and the people, especially Marcos.
- Anita (10/5): FABULOSITY - Everything! The ambience is fabulouse and it looks surreal with the interior designs. A well thoight out place. Kudos to the interior designer. The staff were friendly but only one could speak English. The management should consider having a bilingual staff ready to help foreign visitors. The bathtub and hand sink. It was not washed. I know a washed bathroom when I see one.
- Anita (9/5): I would come here again - I loved everything about the place exactly as seen in the pictures. I was initially given a room I didn't like but they were happy to change it. Everything looks like taking you back to Bridgerton/ 30's luxury.
The only regret is that the transportation arrangement from the airport was not properly communicated amongst staff. Also when I called, the person on the phone didn't understand English. If I hadn't any friend to help me call them, I wouldn't be able to communicate my needs from the airport. Aside that, they are supportive and the location is just 10 mins away from plaza de amas and the museum and other interesting places. Overall, just happy. The bathroom toilet was tricky maybe it's just me. Then the bathtub looked unwashed so didn't attempt a soak. Aside that everything else looked pristine.
- ADOLFO (6/5): - .
- Paris (6/5): - The hotel is good in general terms. However, the staff does not take care of the guests. Even though we told them we were planning to arrive at midnight, we waited outside some minutes, the surrounded streets are not safe so you expect to have a 24/7 staff in this kind of situation.
- Jesus (8/5): Very good -
- David (9/5): Superb - We stayed in a Luxury Queen Room on the top floor that looked out over C. Joaquin Angulo. The room was plenty big enough and had a small balcony. It was a wonderfully "gothic" experience with an anti-room for the wardrobe and our bags. The bathroom was fine albeit with no window. The hotel reception staff were very friendly, ditto the breakfast server. The breakfast was good although basically the same on each of the 3 days. The wifi was good and allowed us to check emails and listen to Radio Caroline's internet broadcasts. The roof terrace was huge and we never saw anybody else on it. Indeed, the hotel was very quiet. On the middle day the cleaner forgot to clean our room and replenish the water bottle but they were maybe called away on an emergency? The receptionist gave me replacement water when I went down and explained.
- Marylyam (8/5): Overall, great stay. I would come back. - I love the decorations and historic feel to the property. I would’ve loved if the breakfast included would’ve had more option to select from or even a menu to select from. I would’ve also been nice if there was some kind of pool area but probably not feasible for the space.
- Sharon (10/5): - If we return to Guadalajara, we would like to stay in the Casa Pedro Loza again. We will recommend this property to our friends and family.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Hotel Is beautiful, rooms are very comfortable Had a bit of a problem with hot water in shower
- Jose (10/5): - Not close to dining options or places to go
- Belyn (8/5): Lovely quiet historic atmosphere in the heart of El Centro - Historic building near El Centro, very reasonably priced, breakfast included, quiet Slept well in this quiet, peaceful hotel though bed was dated
- Peter (5/5): The hotel was very nice and staff were friendly and courteous, but it does not seem like a hotel for regular tourists. I - Check-in was quick and we were allowed to our room 2 hours before the 3pm check in time. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the hotel is a 10 minute walk to the historic centre.
It seems to be a very popular place to film, as there was a movie shooting in front the first night, and what seemed like film crews recording commercials in the hotel the second day. We found the hotel bar, but it was shut down and had a car parked in it. That was unfortunate, because it looked like it could be a very nice bar. We would have liked to have somewhere in the hotel to have refreshments or a snack.
We booked a nice large room. It was great with a balcony, high ceilings, wifi, large bathroom. The second night when we arrived back to the hotel, the concierge stopped us at the door and said they were moving us. The next morning they moved us to a small room with a window that did not open and no wifi.
As a couple, we will not stay here again.
- Katherine (6/5): One or 2 nights it is ok. - Annie on the front desk and the location. The historic architecture was lovely but a bit over done in the rooms. Noisy, night front desk staff had no clue about the noise he makes and echoes keeping us awake until vary late
- Pacyau (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms are stunning. Very comfortable and quiet. Great location for walking with lots of food and entertainment nearby. I would definitely recommend it to others. I can't think of a thing.
- Janet (7/5): Good -
- H3146WBdylanm (10/5): Exceptional in every way possible - Casa Pedro Loza has been an absolute joy to stay at. The rooms and entire facility are beautiful, and I recommend any person that visits Guadalajara to stay at this hotel. The staff are extremely kind and helpful, when I had a little emergency they immediately aided me and made sure everything was ok. If you get the chance, stay here.
- Sasha (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful old mansion turned into a hotel. Rooms are filled with paintings and old furniture. You feel like spending a night at a museum there. The hotel has a rooftop overlooking the Centro and the cathedral.
- Herminio (10/5): - The Hotel was beatiful with historic architecture , traditional courtyard, and our room was adorned with lovely artwork.
- Alejandra (8/5): - Beautiful decor. They allow you to drop off luggage before check in. Friendly staff.
- Patricia (8/5): We will be back! - It is a beautiful property, The staff was very helpful. Great location. Very weak wifi and even though there was a sign that states wait for hot water, we never got any.
- Cristina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Will (10/5): - Great staff and beautiful property.
- Simon (6/5): Interesting but would not recommend - I didn’t expect for the room to be small, the bed was hard and uncomfortable, this was the first room we stayed in. The second room was bit larger, the bed was still uncomfortable and the ac unit was pointed right at the bed and couldn’t get the right temp. The toilet seat was right next to the sink and weird to use. This room was too far away to get internet. The window was cracked and there was a possible mold stain on the ceiling. I think this place is used more for events, a quinceañera was taking pictures, the roof top had a couple dinning and there was a wedding also.
- Marie (8/5): - Staff was very polite, hotel was clean, and charming.
- juanita (10/5): - Great people
- Robert (10/5): - Beautiful place
- Marco (10/5): - The architecture and location are excellent!
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The hotel is absolutely beautiful!
- Jorge (10/5): - This hotel boutique is beautiful! Pictures don't make it justice. Every room ls unique and breathtaking, easy to walk to important places and most importantly were the employees who were kind and helpful, they made us feel welcomed. My wife and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone, specially if they like taking pictures. The Secret Garden room was our favorite!
- Victor (10/5): - There is no parking and it is very difficult to leave the vehicle
- ANGIE (10/5): - Beautiful!
- Nancy (10/5): Living history - The history and historic preservation We loved everything about it!
- Todd (10/5): Amazing Hotel - This is a beautiful, unique hotel in the heart of Guadalajara. Amazing and couldn't recomend it more.
- GARY (2/5): Hotel had no water for days..Won't honor refund.. - Hotel had issues with water. Everytime I needed to use bathroom I had to call front desk. Never hot any hot water. After couple of days I cancelled and moved out. They would not honor a refund. Horrible.
- Morales (9/5): Very likely and good location - Went for anniversary, it was very good
pleasant stay There was a noise in wall between our room (9) and the public restrooms at morning
That wake us up and the crew didn't knew what was the problem
- Jan C (4/5): Not 4 Stars! - No way was this s 4 star facility! No hot water! 1st room was dark one narrow windw and very dim lamps. Wife wanted more light so asked for different room. New room had charm but TV did not work & no hot water! The Casa has much charm. I wanted to like it inspite of it’s very compact baños… I should say very cramped baños.
- Noemi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gomez (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (10/5): It’s just lovely! My husband and I will go back again! - Beautiful mansion that was converted into a boutique hotel! Lots of history and great location! Walking distance to museums, restaurants, shops, downtown and churches! Hotel employees are very nice and friendly. Very clean and good breakfast. Will definitely stay again! Love it!!
- Alan (5/5): This COULD be a fantastic hotel if it was run properly and smartly. - Great location for the historical district. Probably over-priced for everything else. Staff not properly trained, paltry breakfast, tiny towels, no in-house bar, rooftop closed except for events. It turns the hotel is used exclusively for large events on Saturdays and Sundays (weddings, video productions) the need to cater to guests during Monday to Friday appears to be secondary.
- Gabriela E (10/5): - I like the hotel a lot
- Juan (8/5): - Property is elegant and nice, the only thing no food service, no parking and rooms are not to big
- Fernanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alfonso (10/5): - Isaac was a great host!
- David (10/5): Great Place to stay - I Highly recommend Casa Pedro Losa
The Hotel was magnificent
Service Impeccable
Location ideal
- Alexis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Great stay - The location was great. And the staff very accommodating. No Pool
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, squeaky clean and very friendly staff. Stayed a few extra nights rather than move. Usually booked out for weekend events and therefore not available for ordinary hotel guests.
- James (10/5): Classic, historic and well maintained - The hotel was classic, historic and well maintained. We enjoyed a bottle of wine on the rooftop terrace with nice views of the area. Our room was comfortable and the location of the hotel near the GDLuz festival was ideal. Staff was friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was also nice. Parking was not included but a lot they use is only a block away. Recommend.
- Anthony (10/5): - Beautiful old hotel lots of History here. Super helpful staff.
- RusinChris (4/5): Poor customer service, tiny bathrooms - My family and I stayed at Casa Pedro Loza for a few days in December. While the gentleman who served breakfast was great, and the house-keepers were great, the front desk staff put us off almost immediately. I felt as though our arrival forced him to pull his nose out of his phone to deal with us, and he wasn't happy about it. Every day thereafter, there he was, staring at his phone with barely an acknowledgement. Now, I know what will be said "it is hard to find good workers these days", and if we didn't stay elsewhere in Guadalajara this trip, maybe I'd buy that. But given we got awesome service at another small hotel, I think it is a malaise of management there. Now, the hotel building is nice, we had no issues with noise or events. The room was... well, OK. The big problem with most of these rooms are the absolutely tiny bathrooms. When your knees hit the wall when sitting on the throne, you know it's too small. On top of that, the water pressure was less than good the first couple days. We had to go to my Mom-in-Law's room to shower properly (she was in room 11, we were in room 3). They replaced the shower head upon our complaints, which helped. Another odd thing was that about four of the many smoke detectors were 'chirping', a sign their batteries were running out, yet nobody seemed to be bothered about that... again, until we complained. I think this hotel has great potential, but if you have stayed at others like it (like the Casa de la Soledad in Morelia), you will need to lower your expectations. A bit more attention, and it could be a great hotel. At the moment though, I recommend elsewhere.
- gringatravels (10/5): historical charm - We have stayed here twice! We ended up having our wedding here due to it's charm. We love the HISTORIC vibe and the unique character to the place makes this so attractive. Cue tall ceilings, candles, chandeliers, and stories. It is from the 1800s so don't expect top notch American grade plumbing and electricity, but expect to feel teleported back in time. We love the location to the center of GDL, their breakfast is delicious, and their security made us feel safe at night time. We will continue to come back here as a central spot in GDL and to relish in our memories! The honeymoon suite is GORGEOUS, with a little hot tub, if you can book it, do! The Wedding coordinators are the sweetest and the BEST, if you are thinking of a wedding here-top notch service!
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional - The property is beautiful. The staff, including the morning server were extremely friendly. I even got food poisoning and one of the staff members accompanied me to a doctor’s clinic. The rooms were enchanting but also the property is haunted which made the stay more unpredictable and fun. I didn’t like the location. There wasn’t near by restaurants or bar (walking distance). Breakfast was included in the stay but it was the same menu everyday. Also the hot water would take a while to work.
- Jorge (10/5): Exceptional -
- juan (10/5): - It is a magnificent and colonial property; you feel like you are in a colonial mansion.
Wonderful
- Rob (10/5): - It's stunningly beautiful, and walking distance to all cultural sites
- Sophie (8/5): Very good - Casa Pedro Loza is a very beautiful classical house.
It is furnished exquisitely.
Like typical old Mexican houses is it built all around the patio.
Breakfast was included and very good. No drinking glasses in the room.
No bath mat. The lighting in bathroom not great.
We had cold water on our second morning.
The mattress was very short and hence my husband was quite uncomfortable.
- Marylou (10/5): - Excellent place to stay, highly recommend this place to stay. It’s a gem. Will definitely stay here again.
- JOSE (10/5): - Everything was wonderful!!!
- Noemi (10/5): - Excelente servicio y muy bonito hotel.
- Josephine (10/5): Great old colonial hotel - This is the kind of hotel I look for--something old with beautiful architecture, high ceilings, tile floors. The breakfast was great. Service was fine. Furniture a little down at the heels but who cares. Just a lovely place!
- Steven (10/5): Beautiful!! - Facilities were beautiful and well maintained.
Rooms are well appointed, lovely original artwork throughout. There are plenty of comfy, secluded spots to just “relax”, would’ve loved to have stayed an extra night just to take some down time to enjoy the peacefulness of this lovely property. This hotel is a sanctuary!
Staff was helpful, courteous and went the extra mile to accommodate any request.
Breakfast was table service with limited menu, but very good!
Would definitely return!
Located in a residential area, just a block away from businesses and on the edge of the centro histórico district.
- Mohamed (10/5): - Very convenient location, you would love the room designs, like the good old days, very friendly staff and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to tourists.
- Donald (8/5): - Historic boutique hotel. Very interesting.
- Mark (10/5): - A very nice hotel and good value. Staff are very friendly and helpful!
- Gerri (10/5): Feed my soul - This hotel is stunning and romantic. I hope I get the chance to stay here again. I was so happy to hang out in the hotel, it was hard to leave.
- sandra (10/5): Guadralajara first trip - Unique and nice boutique jotel.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - What i like about the hotel is the historical decoration and what i didnt like firstable in the restroom dont have any privacy no door at all, and when youre taking a shower the water spreads around in the room so literally gets floated. Tv doesnt work so u dont have tv at all also u dont have a closet or hangers no place to put ur clothes.
The most important that place instead of being a hotel its more like a photoshoot for quinceaneras why???… when u want to take a nap or relax in your room u can hear all the talk and laughter into your room. Second important thing to notice the lady at the front desk not very attentive if u have any questions u would findher in the kitchen with the “chef” seems like they have something going on behind that kitchen. Third important thing the brekfast is good but is the same thing every morning “ huevos al gusto, frijoles, chilakiles rojos o verdes acompanados de cafe y jugo de naranja” sincerally i recommend to stay in chain hotels not local hotels its very easy to get around with ubers.
- kathleen (10/5): - This is a small boutique hotel in a historic building with lots of old-world charm of the surrounding area. Clean, comfy, and pleasant. The neighborhood is 'iffy' but I felt comfortable walking during the day. The interior is used by many photographers for Quinceañera portraits and for weddings.
- michael t. (10/5): Beautiful old colonial hotel - Wonderful setting. Two weddings used this place during my visit. Room had no view and hot water was a hit or miss. Nonetheless I would stay here again. Very charming
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely little find - Returning guests...as lovely as we’d remembered it. Authentic hacienda hotel just a few blocks from the historic center with theme decor in each room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is truly magestic. I felt like I was living the way the extremely rich did a few hundred years ago. This building what’s been so well maintained, and is loaded with huge amounts of buitiful paintings and furniture. There is definitely more free space than space in the hotel than they dedicated to hotel rooms (which gives you a secluded feel, as you rarely see other guests).
The only downside would be the hot water. It takes a very long time (maybe 15 minutes) for it to heat up, if it ever heats up at all. The pillows were not great, but acceptable. The bed the same. The air conditioner worked well. The morning breakfast was simple, but good. As a hotel, standing on its own with out above mentioned beauty, it’s a typical 3 star hotel. But considering the ceilings in the rooms are stacked with antiques, beautiful tiles, and a ceiling that is nearly 20ft high (in the room !!) it ranks much closer to a 5 star.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place was super nice. Gave me a jungle like vibe. The place had a amazing view to the city and was very close to the Cathedral. Walking distance. Definitely would stay here again. 10/10.
- Juan (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Too any restrictions - No restaurant
- la_vita_carlita (2/5): Horrible customer service - This is based simply on booking experience -- which has shown me that I DO NOT ever want to stay at this hotel. I booked the nicest room that Casa Pedro Loza has for two nights in February 2021 as part of an anniversary trip. Due to a change in our flights by the airline (a result of different scheduled, post-COVID) and therefore a change in our needs on the trip, I need to now cancel the nights I booked because I will no longer be in Guadalajara for the dates booked. This is a somewhat normal and reasonable thing that people have happen when booking hotels months in advance. I don't cancel hotel stays often, but have never had an issue when I've tried (though sometimes, of course, it means forfeiting a deposit).
In this case, however, I LITERALLY CANNOT GET IN TOUCH WITH THE HOTEL! I have sent 4 different emails since July to two different addresses, called dozens of times literally --probably 50+ phone calls over the months). I have never received a single word in response or a call back. I have used all of the contact info provided publicly on the hotel website, which is the same as the info printed in the confirmation email I received for the reservation. By all accounts, they are projecting online that they are open and taken reservations. But I still cannot get a response about my cancellation.
I'm sure the hotel is lovely. But if you're booking during this strange time and want any peace of mind or any option of cancelation or flexibility, don't bother. Not worth the hassle! Now I must move on to contacting my bank and disputing the charge for the room since I have not even been given a re-booking option by the hotel! Not at all the way to run an effective hospitality business!
- sarah (10/5): - Charming old world hotel, close to Zona Centro. Great rooftop vista of city. Unfortunately no restaurant however a short cab ride to Ave Chapultepec. Rooms were clean with high vault ceilings and safe for valuables. A/C worked great and great photo opportunities inside the hotel. Definitely worth a stay.
- Phil (10/5): - Absolute cleanliness! Boutique for the fashionista.
Adequate location for a reasonable price.
- Vanessa (10/5): Great hospitality! - One of my favorite places to stay when visiting family and the city! Walking distance to almost everything and a quick ride away from the airport. Dorian and Alejandro were the best and had an amazing hospitality experience. Dorian knew we were checking in early and had both of our rooms ready to go amd accomodated with late night coffee and tea as we finished our night! Would highly reccommend if you want non-commercial stay type hotel with all ammenities!
- Travis (8/5): Beautiful classic Mexican hotel - The hotel is beautiful. The staff is friendly and accommodating. A short walk from the city plaza. People had mentioned that it was in a bad area. We walked to and from there many times during the day and typically took Ubers to and from at night as we were traveling further away. It's not a residential area and seems more empty at night than anything. Highly recommend the hotel.
