Guest Reviews
- Robert (10/5): Perfect….well recommend to friends - Flowers, neighborhood , quiet, safe, good walking area, Vjas restaurant close by Nothing…. all good. Old boat out back should be removed . Room needs a fan. Somewhat hot
- Chris (9/5): -
- Barbara (10/5): A great stay - An excellent location, handy to bus and train transport and in a quiet, leafy street. The staff were helpful and friendly. We especially enjoyed the breakfasts. It was clean, welcoming, and good value for money. I would recommend to future guests Nothing
- Brian (10/5): We really enjoyed our time in Vancouver and would absolutely stay here again if we go back - The breakfast was great and the cooks did a nice job. The location was fabulous as we were close to the stadium to watch the soccer game and close to the transit system to get anywhere else we wanted to go. The bathroom was a little small.
- Nidia (9/5): Cozy house with a great dining area in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Vancouver. - Excellent location in a beautiful leafy neighborhood a short walk from all transport. House was old but clean and had very sweet staff. Having a separate entrance was great. I couldn’t figure out how to control the thermostat but that was likely me. I could have asked but the desk isn’t manned after 5 and I kept forgetting the next morning.

- Tabitha (10/5): - Charming and cosy
- Hwang (10/5): - 역과 가깝고 매우 편안함 X. 이대로만 유지해도 최고
- Denise (9/5): Cute and cosy - All the paople were soo nice and the House was so cute! Breakfast was fresh and awsome.
The street is clean and in a quiet corner. There is a Supermarkt near by.
- Jacqueline Christine (9/5): -
- Benjamin (10/5): - Incredible stay, perfect location for airport transportation, great breakfast !
- Simon (10/5): A perfect stay !! - From the moment Berenice welcomed us to the property , every aspect of our stay here was wonderful !! A classic vintage Vancouver house in a great location , lovely neighborhood with an easy walk into town . Central , yet peaceful . It felt like having own apartment , we couldn't have found anywhere better !! The only thing we didn't enjoy was having to hand the keys back .... we would have liked to stay longer !!
- Haruna (8/5): -
- Alvin Ng (9/5): - Great location for visiting a local church. Lots of traffic around the neighborhood due to nearby construction at no fault of the business. Will become more enjoyable when the subway line expansion is fully completed.
- Lindsay (9/5): Thoughly enjoyed it. I believe that was our 3rd time staying with you. Love the location and house - Great location. Breakfast was excellent and so convenient. Staff very helpful and friendly. Loved the penthouse room. Can't think of anything we didn't like. We had the penthouse room - very fun. If anything the shower is a bit tight. It was not a problem for us but could be for some larger people.
- Lori (9/5): - Staff friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and comfortable. Location was great. Would definitely stay again. There was parking. We enjoyed our stay! The temperature was too warm at night for me. My preferences is to sleep cooler. I fixed that by opening the window.
- Heather (10/5): Would highly recommend for anyone with medical appointments - The staff was exceptional. The bed was soooo comfortable and the breakfast nook was perfect.
- Olivia (10/5): Excellent! - Close to every thing. Staffs are extremely kind.
- lori (9/5): -
- Brenda (8/5): - It was quiet, easy to find, clean, and very close to the hospital for appointments.
- Aishwarya (9/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): A very comfortable and enjoyable stay in a great location - The check in process was quick and easy. Hosts were very accommodating for last minute changes. The breakfast was wonderful! Attentive and polite staff who custom made fantastic French toast and eggs. Fresh croissants were delicious! The location was perfect with easy access to bus, Uber and within walking distance to attractions, shopping, and cafes, etc. The building and room itself were charming and cozy. The TV was smaller and not in an optimal position for more than 2 people to watch, but we weren't there to watch TV (never turned it on), so I imagine this is a non-issue for most. The room was a little cramped for four of us, but again, we were not staying in the room for extended periods of time, and I expect there are usually less than 4 guests in this suite.
- Camilla (8/5): - The smell of the property
- L Marlene (1/5): Noisy ; No air ; good location - Bland breakfast; tasteless coffee; nice staff
- Lori (2/5): Cheapest expensive rental around. It was supposed to be $170.00. As you continue to book, the price escalates with no e - The patio in front of the house. Staying in the “Penthouse” was a joke. This place needs serious maintenance. It is beat. Carpet is coming up. plaster in the walls is bubbled out.. So worn. The back door does not lock! Boats and other random things stored on the property. Furnishings are so cheap. I thought there would be charm but there is no charm at all other than the front porch. Towels are stained and worn..
- Mykhailo (4/5): -
- Sam (10/5): -
- Claude (8/5): Would definitely come back for the very good location - This B&B is just a very short walk from the sky train (Broadway-City Hall station), so a very good place where to go if you don't want to use your car. The area is very pretty and safe for a quiet walk around the neighborhood. Thankfully we could park in the small parking lot without a problem. The breakfast was nice, served on the back porch and kitchen area. They allowed us to check in early. It's expensive to stay in Vancouver (even there), but the other choices in town were much more expensive than this guest house so we would recommend you stay there. We had the studio Charlotte. We would recommend this room for a short stay (it is a basic and no frills room). There was no bedside table to put my CPAP machine, cell phone, etc., on. The bed was placed against the wall (which isn't practical for a couple or elderly people).
- Christine (9/5): - Fantastic location and very welcoming and friendly staff. I arrived early morning hoping to just store my luggage but they gave me the room straight away at no extra charge, which was excellent.
- Kristine (9/5): Old Vancouver townhouse stay - We loved staying in an old Vancouver town house, well located near the Canada Line Skytrain and not far from Downtown. Being an old house, it had it's quirks but that was part of the old world charm. The staff were exceptionally helpful and welcoming and we enjoyed our morning eggs! Would definitely consider staying here again.
- Scharf (7/5): -
- Janice (6/5): - Breakfast was great, location excellent, room just okay. Could of had some creamer (or whitener) for coffee.
- Shelley (10/5): - Very good location close to the hospital. Simple but exactly what is needed
- Deborah (10/5): - Charming guest house and delicious breakfast. Wished we were staying longer!
- MICHEL PATRICK (10/5): -
- Carola (8/5): -
- Michael (6/5): -
- Sheryl (10/5): - Quiet and close to medical facilities for appointment.
- karen (10/5): - Appreciate the room and breakfast.
- Ju (10/5): It felt like a home away from home. - This is a guest house that is well maintained and obviously the owners take pride in its presentation. Can’t think of anything.
- Jana (5/5): Expensive - Staff super nice. Expensive for whag it is!
- Bernadette (10/5): -
- Emily Draper (7/5): Expected a B&B type of atmosphere, got more of an overpriced hostel - Staff was very courteous and helpful, location was nice and quiet. The bed was not comfortable and it squeaked horribly
- Frank (8/5): - Excellent location. Friendly staff. Very limited parking, but fortunately we were able to get one of the spots.
- Christian (4/5): Very old, need renovation. - The breakfast was good but very limited time available. Location is good for what I needed. The room is run down. Very old carpet. The plumbing wasn't working well. bathroom need renovation. Faucets were broken in the shower and the sink. There was dust in the fan cover, probably not cleaned for years. AC was from the window shooting directly onto the bed and was not enough to keep the room cool. The old AC unit is very noisy. The check in time is limited between 3 and 5 pm, not very flexible when traveling.
- Janet (10/5): - Charming property, good location, great staff.
- Luis (9/5): Gutes Frühstück, Küche -
- Marco_______ (9/5): Nice stay in Vancouver, feel like home - the location is wonderful, the neighborhood itself is so nice to walk around . It look like there are very few, if not, hotel in the area, and I will definitely recommend rather than downtown. the rooms have enough space, the bathroom is shared but perfectly clean and I like the sink in the room. Breakfast is simple but very filling, and the staff was absolutely outstanding, recommending where to go and what to do in the city. The access at night is easy with a code, the patio for the breakfast is very enjoyable. you can go around the neighbor renting a bike. I'll definitely be back if I'll happen to be in Vancouver again. there was not AC but a fan which worked perfectly fine when I was there in July. not sure if will be ever much hotter then that so probably it is not even need!
- Peter (10/5): - Lovely people, lovely area
Vocht is duidelijk aanwezig. Plafond zakt door. Het bedrag per nacht is niet aangepast aan de staat van het huis.
- Kevin A Hagglund (7/5): It was close to where my appointment was. - Breakfast was tasty. Staff friendly. Our room smelled musty. There was black mold in the shower.
- Shelley (9/5): Perfect place to stay with the close proximity to the Cancer Clinic. Comfortable room, nice breakfast, lovely staff. - I love the heritage house Nothing
- Jean Francois (10/5): - Great location and great staff. I really enjoyed my stay.
- Katharine (8/5): A nice traditional Vancouver single home in a leafy neighborhood close to good shopping, cafes and restaurants. Close to - Location was perfect for our trip. We were able to park the car off road and store our bikes safely. Nothing
- Kent (10/5): - Nice neighborhood
- Russell (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (10/5): - We had a lovely time at Douglas House. We returned after 28 years and found the hospitality and facilities just as we enjoyed them in 1997.
- Natasha (9/5): Superb - Lovely stay and start to our holiday.. Host was lovely, really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really nice. Room was comfortable and neighbourhood was great. Really close to the skytrain.
- Alice (8/5): Very good -
- william (10/5): - Perfect if u need something close to Vancouver General Hospital
- Adrienne (10/5): - Very good
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Good location, close to public transport. The guest house offers a range of rooms, catering to a variety of needs.
We appreciated the breakfast each morning and the opportunity to enjoy eggs, cooked 3 different ways, along with the continental breakfast.
- Soohwan (8/5): - Old house. They need to improve security if the premise - windows of the basement rooms.
- Linda (10/5): We will definitely stay here again. - The location was convenient for us, the room was quiet, and we enjoyed the wonderful breakfast served to us. Staff is friendly and helpful. This was our second time staying here, and we will be back again. There was nothing to dislike!
- Rodney (9/5): Superb - The location could hardly be better. There was evidence of water damage in the bathroom ceiling and the shower door didn't close properly. Both conditions suggest maintenance is not as good as it ought to be.
- Deborah (10/5): - Quiet and easy to check in
- Victor (10/5): - Great host. Clean. Great location.
- Caitlin (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Douglas Guest House! The property is beautifully maintained, and being springtime all the flowers were in full bloom. The staff were incredible, giving us plenty of local recommendations. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. Great location near public transport. We will absolutely stay here again for future trips to Vancouver.
- Brian (10/5): - Bernice the host was super helpful and a very nice person.
Location was excellent, close to restaurants, downtown, public transit and Granville Island and the ocean
- Nigel (9/5): Great place to stay to visit all parts of Vancouver - Location was perfect
- Sheri (10/5): Douglas House was worth it! - Spent the night to attend a concert. Very pleasant service with clear directions. Easy to Uber to downtown. A few good places open after 11pm in the area. Quiet, clean, kitchen space with stocked items to use. Secure access and parking. Great breakfast in the morning and would advise to tip as the staff are great with breakfast service! Would definitely recommend. Accommodated 4 of us quite well!
- Stephanie (9/5): Excellent location, lovely space - Space was lovely, loved having a kitchen and fridge available. Excellent location, great to park and walk everywhere. Breakfast had a few options available, which was lovely to be able to eat prior and not have to worry about finding something before my conference. Nothing.
- Tariq (10/5): - Second time staying here. Different room, but same excellent service.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wayne (8/5): Definitely stay here again and have already telling my friends about it. - Location was excellent and breakfast was good Satisfied no improvements needed
- Tariq (10/5): Lovely, quite and clean & friendly helpful staff. - Great place, and the pictures - at least for my suite - accurately show the suite. I come to Vancouver for work a great deal, and this will definitely be my preferred place going forward. Very friendly and helpful staff too. Steps from Cambie St - your main conduit into downtown Vancouver.
- 242avac (10/5): Very Good Experience at this Heritage House - Thank you for a very nice 4-day stay at Douglas House. We had one of the downstairs suites. The noise above us was minimal and the neighbourhood was quiet and felt safe. We found everything perfect for us, myself, my husband and my sister. Since we had to be present at the Hospital during our stay, the location and all the surrounding restaurants and services was perfect. Your breakfasts were right on-point, just enough and the staff at the house are so nice and made us feel comfortable in every way.
We really appreciated the hospital discount because sometimes staying in Vancouver is excessively expensive and this was not a "holiday" for our family. And the parking spot was very much appreciated as well. I will definitely be back again, under better circumstances I hope, and I will tell my friends about your guest houses as well.
I was most happy that all the staff were so helpful and friendly.
When you keep in mind this is a very old heritage house, it's in great shape with so much character and comfort.
- Benjamin (10/5): - Quiet, lovely guesthouse at the top of Mount Pleasant. Easy walk to the Canada Line skytrain (which goes to the airport) as well as to breweries in Mt. Pleasant such as 33 Acres and Brassneck. Decent opportunities for exercise by going for a run down Cambie and across the bridge and back. Nice breakfast options as well.
- Joanna (10/5): - Nice room and quiet.
- Deana (10/5): - Lovely atmosphere, comfy bed, clean room, delicious breakfast and wonderful staff.
- Wendy (9/5): Superb - Location
- Gillie (7/5): Good - Free parking. Good location. Good value Uncomfortable bed pillows. Loud music at breakfast. Pilates should be cleared after leaving the table, not while still eating
- Ivor (10/5): - Check in time was very limited between 3-5pm which is too short. Parking limited may be an issue. But nice place all together. Easy access to public transportation
- hugh (10/5): - A great heritage facility well maintained.very quiet great area. Staff intent on making your stay enjoyable.
- Kunihiko (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Mike (10/5): - Very nice, simple and clean and comfortable with very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again next time I’m in town.
- G (10/5): Exceptional - Ambience..breakfast.lk N/amm
- Aileen (10/5): Easy to reach by public transport from the airport. Good breakfast. Nice spacious room - Good location
- Laura (10/5): Lovely house, great staff and location - Friendly, caring staff. Lovely guest house. Great location.
- Yu-san (3/5): Regretful bed and breakfast - Breakfast is nice. The made-to-order veggie omelette is the only reason why I didn't give this place the lowest rating. They want guests to ideally check-in between 3pm-5pm which is preposterous. I stayed 4 days and for 2 days there was NO hot water. After I complained, they gave me a new room, but that room still had only luke warm water. Shoddy construction with no charm in the rooms (I stayed in two!). Very old building so everything creaks; I wouldn't recommend for light sleepers. In the Barbara room, I had to pull out a handful of other guests' hair that had clogged the bathtub. Signs of mold on the bathroom wall of the Penthouse room.
- Kristane (10/5): Wonderful Place - Friendly staff, free covered parking, clean and comfortable, great location, hot breakfast to order but also kitchenette for food prep. We like everything. If you have mobility issues there are stairs but my mom used their railings and we stayed on lower floor.
- Klaus (10/5): - We were welcomed by a very gracious and helpful host. He arranged a taxi for us and gave us directions for restaurants. Our room was comfortable and it was nice to have a hot breakfast in the morning before traveling on.
- Tzu (8/5): Very good - The staff is helpful and friendly. :)) The room is big/has enough supplies to fit the price. There is a dusting issue regarding cleanliness (we have lived for 8 days and thought the room would be vacuumed at least once). My partner had had an allergy attack and couldn’t stop sneezing because of the dust in the room.
- Diane (8/5): Very good - House was very warm and staff welcoming. Room large and even had a bath!
- Diana (9/5): Superb -
