Guest Reviews
- mary (10/5): Two night break to visit family - Lovely family owned hotel with a great pub. The breakfast was cooked to perfection, good quality bacon etc. and a nice big pot of tea, or coffee if preferred. Great Wi-Fi, small car park and bus stop outside of hotel. Nothing
- Emma (3/5): Clean but needed some remedial work to bring it up to a comfortable standard. - The bedding and bathroom were clean. Staff friendly. The window was not sealed and it was windy to the point that the curtains were flapping. The one radiator in the room barely got warm, and certainly couldn’t heat enough to counteract the draught. The hot water pressure was very low, you only got a dribble of water, so couldn’t even have a good shower to warm up. There was a silverfish on the curtains…. And they don’t come in singles.
- SteveL (10/5): Great value and very friendly - Walking distance to Barrow football ground. Very friendly staff and locals in the bar. Had a great evening. And the room was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. I was pleasantly surprised based on the cost.

- luke (9/5): Quality location, the staff were all friendly, and very helpful. - Woke up to late for the breakfast, the location was spot on. It was all good for me,so I can’t say a bad word about it.
- Ian (9/5): Didn't realise the history behind the Ormsgill Inn and a real gem of a place to stay - The room was very spacious and well presented. The free WIFI worked brilliantly and the full English breakfast was a delight. Lots of great attention and support from all the staff & genuinely felt welcomed. The car parking was on the small size especially when a number of guests with commercial vans parked in it but there was on street parking very close by

- Paul (9/5): Great value. - Friendly staff. Large, quiet and comfortable room. Lovely breakfast Larger car park but plenty of on-street parking. The room needed a refresh - window wouldn't lock, curtain not fitted properly - but nothing that made a significant impact on our enjoyment.
- R (6/5): - Staff are friendly. Noise of cars passing outside the whole night along the A road.
- Christopher (10/5): Great stay, lovely room. - Lovely owners/hosts. Good quality breakfast is a bonus.
- Christopher (10/5): Fantastic hotel! One of the best in Barrow. - Stayed first time last week so was delighted to book again this week. Great spacious room. Cleaning staff do an excellent job, nothing is too much trouble. Friendly hosts. Excellent cooked full English breakfast. Host added black pudding as I’m Scottish and love that. Can’t rate this place highly enough 10/10.
- Jeremy (9/5): Superb - Breakfast superb...wi-fi doesn't reach the bedrooms
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Nice big, clean, spacious twin room with comfy beds. Had the full English breakfast which was very nice. Would definitely recommend
- Adam (9/5): 100% recommend - Clean, tidy, spacious well located. Unable to get an evening meal or a snack but it didn’t detract from our stay as we were aware before arrival
- Rory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Neil57 (9/5): Barrow in Furness's best kept secret. - A large comfortable room, good Wifi and a freshly cooked breakfast to order. A nice bar area, which also attracts the locals in on an evening which promoted the nice atmosphere. Owners are so friendly and chatty and also easy to get into town (local taxis are good and its an average of £5.50 to the train station). Do not be put off by what you see from the outside of the Inn on arrival. Inn does not serve evening meals, but as said above its really easy to get into the town centre for a meal.
- Owen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (9/5): Superb - It was very good value for the money and met all my expections. The staff were helpful and provided everything I asked for. The rooms were clean and tidy and the breakfast was very good. As an older client the only suggestion would be aa non slip bath mat to avoid any chance of slipping while in the shower.
- Elmer (10/5): It is worth saving - Breakfast was served good.
- Barry (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Excellent stay in Barrow - Very nice room, comfy bed, new bathroom suite, breakfast was excellent.Perfect stay even provided plate and cutlery for my take away on the evening.
- Pam (10/5): Warm welcome awaits - The lovely warm welcome we received. The room. The breakfast. The location. Nothing was to much trouble. Amazing value 10/10
We were visiting for a football match and the location was only 15/20 mins walk to the ground so highly recommend for away fans. We were only there one night !
- Peach (9/5): Superb - Everything about it was spot on really, location ideal, price great value for money, staff were fantastic and the breakfast was lovely.
Bar could open to guests staying at the hotel earlier than 4pm to allow for drinks and play pool or darts etc.
Very welcoming and easy to talk to, attentive and accommodating. Erm smelt a bit musty in the corridor, without being nasty but smelt a little like an elderly retirement care home, carpets very outdated.
No toilet brush to scrub away any nasty marks in the toilet, we like to leave things clean and with no brush we couldn't do much.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Spotlessly clean , great hosts , spacious room with super comfy beds . Great breakfast included in the price . Nothing

The room was very large and clean and modern bathroom with power shower The only let down was the fact that they didn't do evening meals.
- David (3/5): Very disappointed - Very little Location, size of room, very uncomfortable bed, your site says dining available but it’s not

Breakfast very yummy.
- Stuart (10/5): Lovely, cost effective BnB close to South Lakes Zoo and Nature Reserves. Well reccomended. - Really nice place, I wasn't sure I had booked the right place when arriving but the hotel was lovely, very clean and quiet. The staff were very helpful and understood our requirements. It is located near a fairly busy road, the odd noisy car would roar past, but that can happen anywhere really.
- William (8/5): Excellent stay, friendly helpful staff, will stay again - Breakfast was excellent A self service breakfast continental option for earlier checkout could be an option for those wishing and earlier start.
- Tara (9/5): Great value for money - We were warmly welcomed and the room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was very good.It was great value for money. It was close to the town and easy to access. Barking dogs and a bit of noise from the bar.
- Brendan (9/5): Excellent - Very comfortable bed. A bath rather than just a shower: always great for a walker. Central heating that comes on early in the morning! Excellent early breakfast! Nothing
- Lee (10/5): I really enjoyed my stay and the great customer service. - The owners are very nice people who went out of their way to help me. I was running late for an appointment and my taxi had not shown up.
They gave me a lift and would not accept any payment.

- Maggie (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely everything. We cannot fault this property and highly recommend it. The location, the facilities, the breakfast and the staff are excellent. It was by far the best B&B we stayed in during our whole trip. That we had only booked one night in the B&B. We would have liked to have stayed longer.
- Keiron (10/5): As stated above - The hotel staff were very welcoming . Lovely clean and tidy hotel. Nothing was to much trouble. Would recommend to family and friends.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (10/5): A very enjoyable short stay at the Ormsgill. - From the look of the outside we were expecting very little. However, from the start we knew that was not to be. Staff were friendly and helpful, room exceeded expectations for comfort and facilities and the breakfast was well presented and delicious. Very little. It was a bit noisy but couldn't expect anything else really as the hotel was located very near to a busy road. However after a while we got used to it and it didn't bother us. We were easily able to sleep through it.
- Wayne (10/5): Hopefully the first of many visits. - First time visitors although we've driven past many times... but not again.
Exceptionally friendly staff and ambience. Large spotless bedroom (No7) with luxurious carpet and pristine en-suite. We stayed during a heat wave and, although they couldn't provide a fan were more than happy for us to use our own. All the public areas were tastefully decorated and as clean as you'd ever wish to find.
Breakfast was of a high quality, freshly cooked and generously portioned. Nothing.

- Julie (9/5): Lovely large bedroom with superb ensuite and a beautifully cooked breakfast. - Shout out for Ormsgill Inn. What a lovely place. We had a room at the top, which was spacious, beautifully decorated and a super bathroom with bath and shower over. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, allowing us to access our room a bit earlier so that we could get ready for a wedding.
We slept like logs in the very comfy bed and had a marvellous breakfast. Absolutely everything was great. No negatives for us.

- Jeremy (9/5): Most enjoyable stay with lovely staff. I would stay again if I was ever in the area. - The location did not inspire us, but the hotel was excellent. The rooms gave the impression of recent upgrade which has been happening over a period of several years apparently. Parking is available at the side of the property, a little tight but we managed to park our Range Rover there so perfectly adequate. The staff were lovely and service was great. There was a good selection for breakfast and the full English was great. The decor was very tasteful and pictures around the walls were of Lake District scenes. The only thing I had a minor issue with was a soft mattress but that is a personal thing.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for access to the South Lakes with free parking. Room was very spacious and clean with comfy bed. Hosts were amazing. Would stay again.
- Khanh (6/5): Pleasant - Very helpful staff, good breakfast One of our rooms smelled of smoke.

- Emma (7/5): Good hotel for a 1 night stay - Don’t be put off by the outside or location of this hotel.
Rooms lovely and clean, friendly and accommodating staff and good breakfast.
Great place for a 1 night stay. Location isn’t great, on outskirts of an estate and we were apprehensive when we saw it.
- Kevin (10/5): Ormsgill Inn was an oasis at the end of a days travel. Highly recommend. - Breakfast was brilliant, staff went out of their way to make us feel at home.
- Jack (8/5): Very good - Staff very good and pleasant, room big with good Shower, breakfast hot , bacon abit over done The radiator in the room didn't come on in the morning, so it was cold.
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Joseph (6/5): Be aware there's no food in the evening - Nice big log fire in the bar. No meal service in the evening but the local takeaway service delivered a fantastic pizza Didn't serve food. The bar area was freezing at breakfast
- Byron (9/5): Unscheduled guest house excursion. - Lovely quiet b&b with fabulous breakfast. I live in Barrow so wouldn't normally stay in hotels or b&bus in the town, but my boiler had broken and the house was freezing. Wasn't disappointed with the accommodation, owners got up early to do a breakfast for me before I went to work. Would certainly recommend to anyone. Was a mite on the cold side - although it was January and in the middle of a cold snap.
- Julie-anne (10/5): Exceptional - Really friendly and helpful staff. Felt really welcomed and that nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend. Nothing.
- Ross (10/5): Very Enjoyable - Clean and tidy Nothing
- Peter (3/5): Poor - The rating for the Inn was 9.1 therefore we expected a high standard but we were so disappointed with the premises we did not stay the night but still had to pay as it was non refundable. Booking. com rating is not fit for purpose any more.
- Annie (9/5): Superb -
- Jan (9/5): Superb -
- Gill (10/5): exceeded all expectations - very clean, spacious and comfortable
