Guest Reviews
- Megan (10/5): Absolutely fantastic - Everything Nothing it’s perfect
- Gareth (10/5): - My partner was running the Chester half marathon and the Saddle Inn let us have an extended check out time so my partner could have a shower after the race, which was priceless The pillows are a little thin.
- Sharon (8/5): - Handy location after watching a gig downstairs Poached egg undercooked
- Dr. Jennifer (9/5): - Good location, good food, lovely staff, decent room.
- Keli (7/5): NICE PlACE, - It's really nice, unfortunately for me I didn't like the stairs, but it's an old building so to be expected. I would recommend the Saddle to everyone I know. The stairs
- sarah (10/5): Best place to stay in Chester! - Everything! Looks amazing and welcoming. Very clean. Egg and bacon at 11.45 at night was the icing on the cake! The rooms are amazing we had Megadeath room this time and it's super spacious and clean as was kiss room last time we stayed. Can't wait to stay again already The toilet seats in the ladies toilets could do with tightening up.
- Alessandro (10/5): -
- Natalie (9/5): Would stay again. Very friendly and welcoming staff. - Great location, superb breakfast and room had all I needed. You can hear the music from the pub but I was expecting it due to location and took earplugs.
- andy (10/5): great value niche hotel, very convenient for Chester centre - I loved the room decor being rock band based, enjoyed open mic night as arrived on wednesday totally unaware of the band rota and had a great breakfast in the morning nothing

Good value for a tasty breakfast
Drinks price were reasonable compared to other places
It was a lovely old building
Good location Our room was very tired and could do with an uodate and could feel the loose floor boards underneath the old carpet

- Paul (10/5): - Great owner pleasant staff comfortable room very clean pleasant staff friendly customers great stay
- Adam (9/5): -
- Nichola (7/5): Bargain and good for the money. Great staff - Rebecca was fantastic. She couldn’t do enough for us The music went on till 2am. We were on the top floor but it was still quite loud
- Rachel (7/5): Themed rooms, committed to music, little bit tired - I was attending a gig at the hotel so having a room there was really useful. The rooms are all themed around different bands, with a fact sheet in the guest info about the band, which is a nice touch. Bed was comfy if squeaky. There wasn't much in the way of lighting, which made it really hard to do my make-up. There was a bedside table on 1 side only, which was fine for me as a solo traveller, but would be difficult for a couple. The bathroom was a bit tired and there were alot of cracks in wallpaper throughout. Some of this is probably due to the age of the building. The room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke.
- gina (8/5): - Quirky & fabulous breakfast
- David (10/5): Lovely couples retreat - Pub was beautifully themed as a rock venue, a lot of effort has been made to carry the rock theme into each room.
Staff were lovely, breakfast was brill, and even though the band played until midnight, the music was great. Location is perfect, 2 minute walk into the heart of he chester nightlife.
Would defo stay here again in he future.
- Samuel (1/5): Loud. Never again. - Location and staff were friendly. Beds comfortable. Loud music until 3am. We were told a band would be on that night but the music would finish by midnight. This wasn’t the case as we heard music until 3am and couldn’t sleep until it stopped. Also the fire alarm went off at 2.30am.

- geisha (10/5): -
- Mollie (8/5): Ideal location and really clean. - Very close to the city centre. Idea location. Was very clean. As it was a pub underneath there was load music playing until early hours of the morning however was a little bit expected because of the nature of the pub.
- Ben (10/5): - The owner was very friendly and accommodating All great
- Barrow (10/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): - Everything
- Gary (9/5): Saddle Inn - The location was excellent, communication beforehand with Rebecca was great, really helpful and cheerful. We didn’t realise until after booking that there was loud live music until after midnight. We were above the stage and it was loud.
We joked with Rebecca about it in the morning, we will use the Saddle again, and as suggested by Rebecca, ask for a different room😀
- James (9/5): - Great breakfast
- Barclay (8/5): -
- lowman (8/5): -
- Tracey Ann (10/5): Absolutely amazing great staff, great pub. Breakfast was gorgeous. - The themed rock rooms, the music and the staff. Very welcoming. We came on the train as we knew there was no parking. Parking is in the city centre

- John (10/5): -
- Sam (10/5): - Friendly staff, great location, second time we’ve stopped here and will definitely be back
- Tracey Ann (10/5): Loved every moment. They had a ZZ tribute band on. Excellent the staff work hard lots of food. Food amazing especially t - Amazing. Location. No parking we got the train
- Shirley (9/5): Great location within walking distance to many local sights and the medieval wall around the town centre. - We chose this room due to rock band themed rooms and chose the AC/DC room option. This room was huge with a large bathroom. Comfortable lounge to sit on with cushions (great as only 1 pillow provided each on the bed) and another small table. Drums for side tables with lighting. Tea and coffee facilities provided in the room.
Can’t comment on food from the bar as kitchen not open the night we stayed. Having to carry the luggage up two flights of stairs.
No sheers on the windows. TV was on odd side of the room so could only be watched from small table or odd angle when in bed.
- Kelvin (9/5): - Staff & location were excellent Nothing to report 🙂
- Alison (10/5): -
- Faith (10/5): - No tv remote and wifi wasnt working in room
- Lady S Mctriker (10/5): - Great location for city and river walks.
Love the themed rooms, very well thought out, clean and comfortable and the staff are great.
No onsite parking but 2min walk to a car park with cafe near the river (£9 for 24hrs)
This was our 2nd stay and we will be back....
- Steve (10/5): - Perfectly located, super comfortable. Staff were excellent. Nothing, really pleasant. Had everything needed and was no stress
- Helen (10/5): - The music items in the room, comfy bed. Only one staff on when we came to check in, they were serving in the bar as well, very busy as open mic had started same time as checking in
- Louise (10/5): -
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Krissy (8/5): Friendly staff, comfy bed, couple of areas to improve, but generally great for a one nighter! - Was in a great location and vibe of the pub was really cool and unique. Bed was incredibly comfy and toiletries were appreciated, as well as the teas and coffees 😊 Was a couple of bits and bobs that could be fixed quickly - bath door did not stay close and caused the water to leak while showering. A couple of marks on the bedding. We were warned about the noise when booking and with some earbuds it was barely noticeable, but might be an idea to ask people if they are going to be out late (there were other people staying at the Saddle and returned back at 3am obviously from a night out) and put them on the lower floors, as we were on the first floor and heard everyone going past. Just a thought!

- Alexandra (8/5): Great location, fabulous breakfast and fun themed rooms. - Breakfast was brilliant - freshly made to order and a good selection. The coffee was great too. The family room was nice and big and considering the pub had open mic on, we weren't really able to hear much noise - and didn't mind it anyway. Loved the concept of the themed rooms, it made it fun. The place was clean and the staff were very helpful and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. I think in the family room it would have been great if you could pay for an extra trundle style bed, so that a family of five could stay there instead of having a second room (as it meant we had to split up our group). The place is a little tired (but as mentioned was still very clean).
- Kerry (10/5): - The atmosphere the quirky room The breakfast was 10/10
- david (7/5): -
- Katarzyna (8/5): - Location and room design Pillows too soft and fan extractor in the bathroom didn't work
- Ben (8/5): Great location in city centre. Quirky themed rooms. Good value. - Amazing location. Didn't try the food but it looked good. Good band on til Midnight, don't expect to sleep before then (although my wife managed to!) Nice quirky little place and very good value. Bathroom was a bit dated but better than my expectations from previous pubs that I have stayed in.
- Craig (9/5): - Great stay. Fantastic themed room. Would definitely stay again. Located in a perfect place to explore. Nothing
- Ian (9/5): Good time, will definitely be back soon!. - Great atmosphere and music, really good live band!.
- john (8/5): A most enjoyable stay overall, staff were very welcoming and courteous. - Arrival was straight forward and easy to book in, the ambience of the bar and hotel were excellent, breakfast was fabulous and hearty, the staff were attentive and polite. We had travelled to see a band perform and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We also purchased some bar food which was out of this world, giant portions and very well prepared and presented. The room was a bit cold to be honest but that's to be expected on a cold January night .
- Maria (10/5): Excellent value snd location - Rooms were rock music themed. We were in a large room Megadeth and the kids lived it. It is a music venue so there is some noise but we were on the top floor so was not loud.
- Nerys (7/5): - Great location, nice breakfast, quirky rock themed rooms, nice and warm Inn and rooms a little bit tired in places
- Valentina (10/5): - Good price for what it is,
Easy location, close to the central
Lovely staff and very accommodating
The rooms were cool and atmospheric
Very cool pub with something to do each day
Fresh and great breakfast Sometimes the heater wasnt working properly but the staff was really helpful about it
In the room i would add a chair
- Charlotte (6/5): - Very comfortable bed and room Noise levels were very high until late at night which wasn’t clearly advertised on booking.com or put in the information booklet (said music was 9-12pm rather than 9-2am).
- Malcolm (9/5): -
- Louise (8/5): Fun little place to stay. - Great location for shopping. Great value for money. Fun rooms with music memorabilia everywhere.
- Kevin (3/5): -
- Damian (9/5): - Super clean room, comfy bed, and the staff were so friendly and helpful.
- stefan (10/5): -
- Joseph (8/5): -
- Chris (10/5): - Location and staff Bed was small my Mrs fell out of it!
- Mike (9/5): -
- simon (3/5): Not good for family's - Nice pub in a great location staff where great The beds where uncomfortable I wouldn't stay with kids again the room was not sound proof and we could here the music going all night and pigeons so had a very poor sleep
- Maxine (4/5): Stay ruined by loud music. - Location Band was playing extremely loud live rock music till around 3am, then music from the jukebox till 4am, didn’t sleep a wink. I’ve stayed in dozens of pubs/hotels with live musics till late, but this was in another level. Everything about the stay was fine apart from this which totally ruined it. I would not stay again. This was a Saturday night.

Everybody was so warm and welcoming and the food was outstanding...the chef was fantastic with his menu and meals.
