Guest Reviews
- Peter (10/5): - Excellent b and b
- Glynis (8/5): - A good spot to stay in Staithes close to the harbour. We had a great sea view room, in this boutique B&B, comfy despite the lack of a large bed, or proper shower.
A very friendly welcome by the proprietor, who cooks an excellent breakfast, also nice touches such snacks & an honesty bar. Plenty of places to get a very good evening meal early or in neighbouring spots.
- colin (10/5): - Cameron (owner) was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the local area, he also prepared a great breakfast.
Our room was on the top floor, a comfortable and decent size room and large bathroom, it also had sea views across the harbour
Our visit was for a birthday celebration, we were given a card and a bottle of Prosecco in our room which was a nice touch and much appreciated.
We would definitely recommend it as a place to stay in Staithes, a good base for visiting the surrounding areas.
- Anne (10/5): - Lovely stay in such a relaxed place. Hotel owners were friendly and welcoming.
- Gemma (10/5): A fantastic B&B in a stunning location - What an amazing weekend we had staying at Endeavour B&B. Cameron and Caroline were extremely welcoming from the minute we arrived and continued to make our stay unforgettable. The Rhode Island room was very comfortable and modern with beautiful decor and the food provided in the morning was exceptional.
The B&B is in an ideal central location of Staithes.
- Ian (10/5): - Right in the centre of the village, perfect for finding pubs, places to eat etc.
Room was fantastic. Really quite big. Also, spotless.
Good check in, Cameron couldn’t have been more helpful. Breakfast is also really good.
- Gary (6/5): Great breakfast, tired room. - We stayed in the Rhode Island room, which looks nice. However, bad smell from outside if the window is open, peeling wallpaper in bathroom, spring protruding in mattress and doors difficult to close.
Host was lovely, friendly and very welcoming. He was informative and interested in us and ensured we had what we needed for our stay.
Cooked breakfast was really high quality, cooked to perfection.
Maybe the other 3 rooms allow for a better in room experience.
Right in the heart of Staithes, lovely fishing village to stay in.
- Neal (10/5): Julie and Neal Lambert - What a lovely accommodation, really perfect for what we needed, both Caroline and Cameron are the perfect hosts and a fabulous breakfast.
- Darren (10/5): Superb friendly B&B - What a treasure! Recently refurbished and in a perfect location. A luxurious feel to it all. The bedroom was really lovely, super comfy bed, with lots of thoughtful touches - even filter coffee in the room 😁 The owner, Cameron, gave us such a warm, friendly welcome. Breakfast was excellent 👍 highly recommended
- Samantha (10/5): - A really lovely property, their attention to detail is outstanding, beautiful room, very comfy, gorgeous snug room and breakfast room, lovely couple

We were only there 1 night but felt a wonderful break and would love to stay again
- Geoff (10/5): - Caroline and Cameron were really friendly and the accommodation was clean , warm and stylishly decorated. Excellent breakfast and honesty bar in snug/residents room .Good pub opposite and tea room next door.
- Carol (10/5): - Very welcoming, room was spotless and had everything needed. Breakfast was a delight, well cooked and well presenting. Even had a jar of my favourite Vegemite. Would recommend to others and would definitely stay again if in the area
- Stephen (10/5): A gem of a place - Cameron and his wife have created a lovely, bespoke place to stay in Staithes. Our room was spotless and the bed was really comfy. Perfect cooked breakfast from Cameron. We would love to return. A decent hill to negotiate down to the quay and the rooms but worth the effort.
- Rigby (10/5): Lovely boutique B&B - Comfy bed, tasteful decor, nice breakfast, central location. Glad we visited off season. I expect summer must be horrendous. Parking at the top of the hill in council run car park (avoid the expensive private one!)
- Celia (10/5): Perfection! - A charming place to stay in a view cute village. Cameron is a fantastic host and cooks a superb breakfast! Lovely room and comfy bed. I couldn’t fault anything.
- Georgia (10/5): - We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Endeavour! Cameron is a fantastic host, so friendly and approachable. Amazing breakfast too!! Comfortable room with good facilities. Staithes is peaceful and a great base for exploring more of the coast. Thanks for a lovely stay

- Brian (10/5): 5 stars! - Fantastic full English breakfast, warm welcome and a great all-round stay. The Owner was very polite and professional.
- Charlotte (10/5): Weekend trip to Staithes - Excellent service from a fantastic host in an amazing place. Definitely will be back.
Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful setting and property with loads of character and history - David is a fountain of local knowledge and very welcoming to all. Parking is the biggest problem for everyone and for those with dodgy knees/hip maybe the hill isnt for you but the views once you get there are definitely worth it!!.
- Mark (8/5): Lovely stay with a great host - David is a brilliant host, with knowledge of the local area second to none. We loved our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. The breakfast was amazing! Just a word of warning, take your ear plugs as the seagulls start early!!!!!
- Jonny (10/5): - Lovely b&b, small and cosy. Right on the high street and so close to the sea. David was very helpful and a great host. Veggie breakfast was delicious.Tastefully decorated with everything you need for a relaxing trip to the north coast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable room with great views of the cobbled high street. Had a wonderful fresh, smoked kipper for breakfast. Very enjoyable stay and great location in the heart of Staithes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - David, the host was so friendly and helpful. The room and property was lovely, clean and cosy. had such lovely and restful stay.
- julie (10/5): - nice friendly owner. Sea view, a very beautiful place
- Tim (10/5): - Very friendly, very relaxed and very comfortable. Recommend
- I (10/5): - We had a great break, and the Endeavour was agreat base to explore the area.
- Paul (10/5): Lovely Hotel in a Beautiful Village - Dave (the owner) couldn't have been nicer. He is very welcoming with a happy and chatty disposition.
The Endeavour could be considered as a home from home as it reminded me of a house and not a horrid commercial hotel.
The room was clean and had everything you need to make your stay comfortable. If you are visiting that part of Yorkshire, I would hope you don't have any plans to stay in your room as the village is absolutely beautiful with a few lovely pubs and places to eat.
Dave is a great cook as my belly can confirm after all those full English breakfasts.
If I had to pick holes in the whole experience it would be the lack of parking close by. The nearest parking is at the top of a very steep hill. You can drive through the narrow street to drop off your luggage but then you need to. I fear this could be a problem if you have someone in the family who has need of a wheelchair. The parking will cost you £5 for 24hrs; make sure you pay as the parking wardens are about at all hours.
In summary, the Endeavour is excellent and Dave is so very nice that you will want to take him home with you. I highly recommend him and it to you all.
- John (2/5): Un happy - We felt an inconvenience from arrival to leaving. The lady who greated us was flustered and complained, everyone is arriving all at once. We wasn't shown to our room as she had to move her car. When we said we would like breakfast at 8am she said 8.30 is the earliest time, when we went down for breakfast at 8.30 she moaned saying she was expecting us at 9.00 am. The bed had soft squeeky springs and the wi fi was vertually none existent. Not impressed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel good location very informative owner. Very noisy seagulls all night long never stopped so no sleep windows not double glazed..nobody to blame just one of those things.
- Sue (10/5): Lovely weekend - Lovely hotel, David is an excellent host and very knowledgeable about the area. Food also excellent
- John (8/5): - one of the best places to stay in staithes
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely host and breakfast .very welcoming . Recommended psrking very mean
- Verified traveler (10/5): Handy position with friendly pub across the road f - The only slightly awkward bit was the parking and dropping off/picking up our bags but everything worked out fine in the end.
- Chris (10/5): Great b & b in very quaint village next to sea - This was a fantastic b & b a lovely location & David is a very friendly owner, nothing too much trouble, fab breakfast, stayed in sea view room so nice we loved our few days there, most certainly going back
- Sue (10/5): Nice room friendly owner - Had a lovely time at Endeavour. David he owner is very helpful and knows a lot about the area and gave us some very useful ideas about where to go!
Breakfast was pre ordered the day before and freshly cooked when we went down by David! Lovely smoked salmon and scrambled eggs! Greek yogurt and cereal and fresh fruit if we wanted it!
The hotel is across the road from a pub that also does lovely home cooked meals and there is another one down the hill also although we never ate there!
The whole area is very picturesque and there are lots of places to go! Very steep hills so maybe not for people with mobility problems and no parking spaces in the village but you can leave your car in a car park at the top of the village.
We had a lovely time and will definitely go back again!
- Caterina (10/5): Perfect hotel - Perfect hotel near the sea. David was the best host and best chef as well.
- Viv (10/5): Fabulous! - Fantastic welcome to a great B&B. Dave was the perfect host. Perfect location. Lovely room with great view to cobbled street below. Amazing breakfast which kept me going for a days walking on the Cleveland Way! Definitely recommend.
- Charles (10/5): Excellent place to stay - A wonderful area with lots of quaint villages. Hotel was fabulous, would go back tomorrow given half a chance.Still feeling stuffed from the magnificent breakfasts!!
Even in February plenty of places to eat out or have a coffee.
- Matt (10/5): Simply Outstanding!! - This is an outstanding little B&B. The bedrooms are large and extremely comfortable with everything you need.
David is a superb host and makes you feel right at home. Nothing is too much trouble for him and his breakfasts are second to none.
The village itself is amazing, very picturesque, friendly and safe.
All the locals pull together and help each other and will do anything for anyone.
Dottys tea rooms next door is a must to visit too. Her scones (fruit and cheese ones) are to die for.
We had an amazing couple of nights and would recommend this place to anyone.
Such a delightful little find.
Thanks to David for his excellent hospitality, am sure we’ll be back!
- Alastair (10/5): If you want a quiet weekend away.... - My wife and I have just enjoyed a delightfully relaxing weekend in Staithes. The owner, david, provided plenty of local information when we arrived and provides excellent accommodation in a well appointed B&B where nothing is too much trouble. Outstanding selection available for breakfast, I can heartily recommend the kippers! We ate out at The George, almost directly opposite The Endeavour, they have a good selection of standard pub fare with portion sizes well above average, at a very reasonable price. They know how to sear a steak properly, try one!
We walked from Staithes to Runswick Bay (and back) along the Cleveland Way, easy enough route although a little muddy, but It is January... Thoroughly enjoyable route but there are others if you fancy something shorter.
There's little to no mobile signal in the area, although there is Wi-Fi in the rooms it's weaker the higher you are, but this can be a good thing!
- berni (10/5): Nice hotel opposite pub and near harbour - the owner Dave was really friendly and helpful
Breakfast was fab
Our room was spacious and comfortable and at the heart of the village
- Jules (10/5): Perfect Location! - This accommodation is superb. David is extremely friendly, attentive helpful, etc etc. I could go on....everything was absolutely perfect. Exceptionally clean!! We had the sea view room.....well what more can I say? Beautiful. The breakfast was delicious. I had a Staithes Kipper and would highly recommend it. Staithes is so quaint, unspoilt and beautiful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely B&b in staithes - Fab B&B our only issue was the loft room had a low ceiling so my husband kept banging his head. But great location, David super friendly and helpful, breakfast was beautiful. We will return but in one of the other rooms :)
- Oliver (4/5): - The first thing the owner said to me was that he didn't like giving Expedia 17% of the £100 we paid.
- tony (8/5): pleasant stay - from the moment we rang the bell to the moment we left we felt valued. The staff were friendly and informative. The room was warm and comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was fantastic in taste and quantity. We would stay here again anytime and recommend the hotel to friends and family.
- P (10/5): Beautiful short stay in Staithes - The owner was lovely and welcoming. Fresh milk, tea, coffee and biscuits in our room. We had a lovely sea view and the room was lovely and comfortable.
The breakfast was fabulous. Staithes is beautiful. Can't wait to go back.
- Anna (6/5): Everything ok - Everything was ok probably fine, but nothing stood out as exceptional, for the money I would have hoped to be a bit more impressed. Our room was quite small with no view, a flat roof and brick wall, the window didn't open. Host very keen to please and helpful. Staithes is very picturesque but we didn't really find anywhere good to eat and everywhere seemed to lack true quality. But it was a nice friendly place to visit with lots of friendly dogs.
- andy (10/5): Picture perfect - Beautiful little place in beautiful little seaside village, right opposite the pub. The restaurant looked lovely too, and breakfast was perfect
- Christopher (10/5): - David runs a great B&B in a beautiful little seaside town. The building is old but the guest rooms have been nicely furnished with new bathrooms. Great breakfasts!
- Graham (10/5): Perfect - Perfect stay, David made us feel very welcome and the location a short stroll from the seafront is perfect. Highly recommended
- J M (10/5): Treat yourself to a bit of luxury by the sea - We stayed two nights at the Endeavour B&B this week - a lovely house on the main street of Staithes. The proprietor David couldn't have been more helpful. The room was lovely, airy and spacious with extras such as fresh milk, a cafetiere and bath products. David's breakfasts were wonderful - it was a real treat spending time in the lovely village of Staithes, a short stroll to the harbour, the two pubs and Dotty's vintage cafe.
Pack lightly - it's easier to park your car at the top of the village and walk down the steep slope.
- Helen (10/5): A good stay in Staithes - Very nice place - service and helpfulness excellent. Our twin room looked out on to a wall which was a pity, but the beds were very comfortable. Lovely breakfast - very well cooked.
- Charlotte (10/5): - Lovely accommodation. The owner couldn't have been more welcoming. I would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
- Jill (8/5): Picturesque fishing village in an unique location - We chose the area as a picturesque spot to spend 2 nights and it certainly was. The accommodation was quaint as expected but the access with narrow stairs and two doors close to each other to enter the room was a bit worrying as we were right over the kitchen which created a lot of heat and noise coming up through the window and we wondered if there had been a fire it would have been difficult to get out quickly and with no fire extinguisher in the room or in the space between the two doors. It was very hot in the room even at night because of heat from prep and mealtime for the restaurant. That is the only negative as staff were very friendly and we were helped up with our luggage by Lisa. We didn't eat at the restaurant but on reflection we should have as we read later that Lisa is a top chef. We had some good conversations with people at breakfast and walking around the town, sitting in the pub etc. and the locals were very friendly. There is plenty of scenery and places to walk and visit nearby as well. We left our car at the top in a CCTV private parking lot which was safe. Coming down into the village to drop off luggage is a bit hairy as it is a one-lane lane and you have to back up to a pull-over spot if there is another car coming towards you.
- carl (10/5): - Only stayed 1 night but it was wonderful. Great service, wonderful breakfast and the view form the sea view room was brilliant.
- Paul (10/5): Great chill out stay - We've stayed at Staithes many years ago when the children were very young and had a great traditional family holiday. This time, with just the two of us, it was just as good but with an emphasis on relaxing and "us time".
Staithes is perfect for meandering through the narrow streets and passageways, taking an exhilarating cliff top walk and taking in the stunning views.
Although Staithes is not inundated with lots of places to eat, there is more than enough to choose from at a good price and quality. We were really fortunate to coincide our stay with a "pop up restaurant" from the local celebrity chef and former owner of the Endevour, Lisa Chapman. Two superb evening meals!
We will be back again.
Please remember the hotel is a B&B and other than breakfast no other meals are normally served. It's worth checking before you book.
- Baz (8/5): Lovely place, large room, huge tv, friendly staff. - Booked here relatively last minute and managed to get booked into the pop up restaurant they had on which happened to be a previous owner now turned celeb chef. The food was excellent and really made our one nights stay really special.
The room was comfortable and decor was nice. The only downfall I would say is not the hotels fault. The sea gulls were nesting near by and they did squawk often.
You can drive down to the hotel and un pack and then you have to park your car in a car park at the top of the hill. We liked this as it made the stay quieter.
Lovely little town, recommended.
- Richard (10/5): Perfect place in Staithes - Superb, clean, modern yet fitting of the area. Friendly with an amazing breakfast. Perfect and will be back
- Everett (10/5): Beautiful location and friendly staff - Staithes is amazing! Endeavor is a super cute inn. Room was spacious and comfortable. English breakfast was delicious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Attention to detail and made to feel very welcome - Can't fault this beautiful place. Stunning breakfast, comfortable and cosy room, the proprietor was attentive and friendly and made us (and our dog) feel very welcome. A tip that would have made our room (the family room) even better would be a light in the wardrobe. A stand up shower would be ideal but I realise there's limited space to facilitate this. I have recommended this place to friends and family already.
- Cezary (10/5): An amazing location and a FAB B&B - We had an amazing weekend at Staithes and surrounding areas. Endeavor Restaurant and Rooms is just the perfect B&B for either a short or long stay. Its location is just perfect in the heart of Staithes and the facilities are just spot on. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (8/5): We will endeavour again - Great nights sleep, great cooked breakfast, great that you could accommodate the dogs as well. Thanks David.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Day escape to the coast - Right in the heart of Staithes, the Endeavour is within stepping distance of cafés, pubs and art galleries. The 'car-less' centre is fully of nooks, crannies and steps inviting you to uncover secrets and views. The size of the village makes it easy to explore, but not necessarily for the less-agile, a fair few steps and narrow passages - they add to the charm of the historic fishing site.
- Lynda (10/5): - Great and friendly staff bedrooms spotless and breakfast amazing
- Robert (10/5): - Great location and very friendly and accommodating owner. We needed an earlier breakfast to get away on a walk and David turned up trumps. We will stay there again.
- Paul from Oz (10/5): The Staithes experience - In the thick of the action, Staff and facilities excellent, across the road to the pub with good food. Recommended.
- Kathlene (10/5): - We stopped in for one night on our way to London. It is a unique place and very charming.
- Ian (10/5): Seaside B&B - David made us most welcome, upgraded us to the top floor room with low beams and a great sea view, and then served a lovely breakfast at a time to suit us.
