Guest Reviews
- Audrey (8/5): Bien - B and b Original
Bien situé
Très propre Literie trop mole pour nous
Pas de volet ni de rideau dans la chambre pour cacher la lumière du jour
- Bonnie Jill (10/5): - We just thought it was lovely
- Brooke (3/5): Good mini stay wish we got all the amenities we paid for tho. - Loved the breakfast, it was amazing and fresh!
The room its self was beautiful and cozy. The WiFi was out, which means the tv didn’t work. We planned a night away from the kids & movie night there.
There was a coffee spill on the sheets , used coffee pod still in the coffee pot.
The fireplace didn’t work.
- Burbee (10/5): Wonderful, always - I have stayed here many times and the facilities and staff are always so great! It is by far my favored location to stay in Springfield It seems to get a little pricey at times but I would still prefer it to staying in an ugly motel room
- Jay (9/5): We enjoy staying here as the staff is great! - We enjoy staying at this property when we can be in Springfield. The breakfast that they serve is fantastic!
- Bjergegaard (8/5): - Very cosy
- Molly (8/5): Perfect place to stay for a night after an evening of dinner at Gilardi’s and a play at JKH! - Charming and clean! Breakfast was wonderful. Great location! Can’t think of a thing!
- Susan (10/5): We will be back! - Great location, clean, easy access. The staff was top notch. The chef was creative with delicious results.
- Burbee (10/5): I absolutely love staying here the staff are amazing and the rooms do great - The rooms are beautiful and well staged It could sometimes use a good deep clean
- sue (10/5): Walnut street inn is quaint, quiet and amazing employees! - The employees were amazing! They’re kind, generous with their time and the breakfast was amazing! Everyone I met was eager to create a wonderful experience! I highly recommend staying there No complaints
- Jan (9/5): -
- Kelley (10/5): Would stay there again and recommend to others. - The location was near places we were interested in going. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and it was a comfortable atmosphere. Our room in the carriag was comfortable and relaxing.
- Catherine (10/5): We were in town for a wedding. Our accommodations at the Walnut Inn B&B made our whole trip exceptional. The breakfa - It was a beautiful Victorian home and Carriage house. They have converted the carriage house into additional rooms. This is where we stayed. Absolutely lovely and spacious.
- Brad (8/5): - The property and staff were excellent. We stayed in the 2nd house in the Jordan room. The room and house were perfect. There is a college frat house next door, they were very loud and partying on their front porch until 4 a.m. The provided ear plugs didn't really block them out. We loved the room, staff, and excellent breakfast. A helpful tip would be if staying on the weekend stay in the main house instead of the 2nd house.
- Melody (9/5): - The staff were very friendly and welcoming. My room was quiet. Sure there was road noise but honestly I felt like I was in my own little world. It was rejuvenating.
Breakfast was sooooooo good. And being checked on by the chef made me feel special
- Kathryn (10/5): - We loved the Bed&Breakfast. Our room was next to the busy street, but earplugs were provided to reduce road noise. Breakfast was healthy and refreshing
- dataniel (8/5): - Breakfast is excellent and made the way we asked for it. The rooms do need to be renovated. The place has it's own uniqueness
- Rui (10/5): -
- Jason (10/5): - You for the comfortable stay
- Charleen (8/5): - Breakfast was great. Sink in room did not drain. Need better toiletries.
- Calvin (10/5): - Convenient location. Rooms were super clean. Staff was extremely helpful and polite.
- Linda (10/5): - I really liked everything about my visit to this inn. Unlike many Victorian inns, this one has not been overly done in terms of decor. No heavy dark drapes or furnishings. Both common and private rooms are beautiful and abound in light. The Inn served a lovely breakfast. I so enjoyed the gracious host and breakfast server. They add so much to one's visit. Everything about this visit was spot on.
- Sarah (1/5): -
- Anne (10/5): Comfortable and clean! 10/10 recommend! -
- Michela (9/5): - Se vuoi vivere un sogno americano é il posto giusto 🙂
- Katherine (10/5): - Easy booking process. Communication was excellent as we were checking in later than usual. Imagine this! They actually called! Staff was courteous and efficient. The house is quaint and comfortable. The ambience was perfect for a romantic night. The room was super clean. I normally do not use tubs in hotel rooms, but I felt comfortable using the one in the walnut inn. Breakfast was prompt in delicious. Would actually stay here again next time we visit Springfield. Much better experience than staying in chain hotels.
- Reanna (10/5): Like a fairytale - The staff were friendly and informative. Beautiful rooms and scenery, and the breakfast was amazing! Had issues turning on the fireplace and the remote to the tv was difficult to get it to work at times.
- DeAnna (10/5): - Beautifully maintained historic property. Walking distance to Hammons Field. Excellent breakfast
- Christina (10/5): - This place was cozy , welcoming, and beautiful
- Hollie (10/5): It was a comfortable get away. - It is very clean and home like. I love the overall feel of the property. Nothing.
- Bruce (7/5): Comfortable but no sleeping in or sleeping on hot nights. - I was expecting to stay in the main house. I was surprised that I was in the separate old carriage house out back. It was fine except for below. The A/C unit had to run constantly as anything higher than 3 feet off the floor was HOT all the time. Window coverings were light and there were 2 clear skylights so sleeping after sunrise was not going to happen. I was also not impressed that the TV was streaming only and to get anything you had to use your own login and account - which I don't travel with. A hotel of this caliber should at least supply 1 streaming service!
- Angela (10/5): Great Stay just Minutes from Downtown - We stayed in the Walnut Street Inn's Carriage House and it was simply perfect. My in-laws stayed in the room with the four poster bed and we stayed upstairs in the Hutchinson Room. Both fit our needs perfectly: beds were comfy, AC worked great, water pressure was strong. A bonus was the stars on the ceiling of the four poster — my in-laws were so delighted with this whimsical touch. We also had a lovely breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and fruit. Camryn was happy to accommodate my gluten free needs, too. We'd love to stay again!
- Christopher (8/5): - some words
- Esther (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johanna (10/5): - What a beautiful place to stay. We enjoyed the grounds and the ambiance of the main house. Our room was in the carriage house and it was cozy and nicely appointed with various musical instruments, reminiscent of the man for which this room was named.
We got up and dressed and walked across the back garden path to the main house for breakfast. It was a purely pleasurable experience. The chef prepared some amazing French toast with berries and walnuts and thick bacon slices. Plenty of coffee and orange juice rounded out our meal. The parlor where breakfast is served is an airy, bright room with views of leafy green trees from the windows.
We truly enjoyed our stay. It made a nice break from staying at a motel chain at an off-ramp from the highway.
- Thomas (10/5): - Nice B&B type place in downtown. I was toward the end of a long trip and enjoyed my evening there. Friendly place, easy going, easy to get around, and a simple walk to the ballpark, my reason for being in town.
- Marie (10/5): - I had a wonderful experience at the Walnut Inn. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was amazing
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lots of history here - The water temperature in the shower was hard to regulate in the Rosen Room. And maybe the sink would be a little more appealing if not chipped, same with tub. But overall, lovely place to stay. Very friendly staff. Great location ☺️
- Steven (10/5): - Everything was wonderful; however, you need a new sign placed where it can be easily seen to show people who check in after dark exactly which parking lot is your overflow parking lot. It would also be nice if your overflow lot was as well lit as the parking lot next to iit so your guests would have more confidence that their vehicle would be secure. Also, concerning the television, we were never able to access any local channels. From reading through the memories book, it looks like that has been a recurring problem for a long time. Additionally, when we checked in late, we inadvertently took the spiral staircase to the second floor and our key opened the door to the room at the top of the stairs. It was the wrong room, but luckily no one was staying there that night and the room had not yet been cleaned and we realized something was wrong. When we found our way to the right entry door, we went to the second floor but then couldn't read the nameplates on the doors without getting very close to them, which may have troubled anyone who might have been in the rooms and sensed that people were too close to their doors. Anyway, after we finally made our way to the McCain room and got settled inside, we were amazed with the elegance, nostalgia, and cleanliness of the room as well as the great care that was taken to ensure we would have a wonderful and memorable experience. Thank you so much for the personal touches, such as the memory book, cookies, and superb service/food
- David (10/5): WE WANT TO GO BACK - The room, the breakfast, the helpfulness, and the friendliness were wonderful.
- Jill (10/5): - Everything was great. A few notes: McCann room is absolutely not handicapped friendly. Although the old white tub is cute, it is extremely hard to get in and out. And the shower curtain sticks to your butt cheeks.
The back stairs are very narrow and steep.
The bed and bedding is amazing and very comfortable. Air conditioning is fabulous.
And the breakfast daily is absolutely delicious!!!!! The hostess for breakfast is slow. I had to get up and ask for more coffee. And today I had to get my own silverware. And we never did get water with our meal.
- Yates (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teddy (9/5): Close to the convention center, and historical setting. - The breakfast was WONDERFUL! The staff was super friendly, and the chef came out and talked to us. We had a question about one of the fruits on the plate, he answered it. The blueberries were so big, we had to ask if those were actually blueberries! The only drawback was that we were expecting to stay in the main house but stayed in the converted garage. It was a very unique room, but we enjoyed our stay.
- Debbie (10/5): - The staff here goes above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. The place is a beautiful garden experience in the heart of the city with beautiful spacious rooms and such a wonderful place to stay
- Jeremy (10/5): Lovely welcoming historic building in peaceful location - I had been warned that Springfield MO had the highest gun crime rate in USA, which is going some. My experience was of a delightful area of comfortable mansions in the surrounding area with no hint of any crime; I believe the crime is drug related in the outer edges of the city and the centre is really pleasant, very quiet with good choice of restaurants and bars.
The only place in USA which provided (free) breakfast which was exceptionally good, freshly made and free of the usual American gunk. Nothing, truly delightful.
- Cashmore (9/5): Route 66 gem - It’s quirkiness
We were in the coach house and it was a lovely music themed room Nothing really
The Italian next door needs a reservation or it will close so we missed out but that wasn’t the hotels fault
- Kyle (5/5): Passable - I liked the location. It's close to everything that I wanted to see. And I liked the breakfast staff and the front desk staff so I suppose all of the staff. They were all very friendly. And the breakfast was great. The bed was terrible. Legitimately potentially the worst mattress I've ever slept on in my entire life. The room was very noisy. Like the people upstairs I could hear every step they took. Whenever they flushed the toilet it sounded like a freaking hurricane in my room. And I could hear the road noise at all hours of night because it's close to a college campus (I assume).
Maybe I was expecting more because I had read so many glowing reviews. But I have stayed in numerous nicer rooms that cost significantly less money. Don't get me wrong it is a pretty room. The bed is absolutely trash the pillows are Maybe not the absolute worst but I would rather sleep with a rolled up blanket than the pillows they had. Plus the internet was down during my weekend to stay so I couldn't use the TV without using my personal hotspot and on top of that the TV was incredibly slow. Like hard to use it was so slow. I'm trying to remember a time I've ever left a bad review and I can't think of one. And I don't mean to make this sound like it was a bad place. But for the amount of money that I paid it absolutely was a bad place. I feel a little bit like I got ripped off. Also the floor wasn't particularly clean I was stepping on particles the entire time I was there. I didn't have a table in my room like the pictures showed so I didn't actually have anywhere to eat any of my meals. And the bathtub wasn't particularly clean I cleaned it out before I used it both days that I was there.
- Susan (10/5): - I have always loved staying at the Walnut Street Inn. Comfortable rooms, great staff and yummy breakfast!
- Emma (10/5): The staff were very friendly and the setting was clean, safe and excellent value - It was very close to the town, safe free parking. The accommodation was cozy. Everything was good.

- Karen (7/5): Good -
- Bethany (8/5): Amazing hospitality and a great location! - Hospitality was excellent, staff were very helpful, professional and friendly. Chocolate chip cookies were in the room on arrival and the breakfasts were fantastic. The only downsides were that the room hadn’t been dusted in a very long time and the noise level was high. However they did provide earplugs which helped.
- Melissa (10/5): - Awesome
- Calton (8/5): Came from Oklahoma just for a weekend getaway me our expectations and the breakfast was a 10 along w - Breakfast was amazing and the staff was awesome! I feel the parking could be better and more convenient. Wish the TV would’ve been a little bit bigger in the carriage house. Other than that, everything was great..
- Tim (8/5): - A very old gorgeous house that has been remade into a B&B. Our room was small with an extremely small toilet area in an old closet I'm guessing and no shower. Just a claw foot tub. The bed itself was comfortable and if you like old homes and antiques and showering everyday is not a big deal, you would love this place. Not the comforts of a hotel but appropriate for a B&B. Breakfast was good and the coffee was great! Great people as well.
- Ninel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (9/5): Great experience - especially wonderful if you are attending Juanita Hammons event center - Breakfast was perfect Less wind - Not a single thing within your control- great experience- we will be back

I got there late and had a little trouble gettin my key to open the back door. I complained the next morning, so i hope they get yhat fixed. Breakfast was amazing and the staff were super helpful and friendly.
- Douglas (10/5): Amazing bnb - We were greeted by Madalyn and she was pleasant and kind. The entrance was elegant and decor perfect. Warm and cozy feeling. The room was so beautiful we stayed in was Maccaine room it had an amazing feel and decor was awesome. Breakfast was amazing also
- Stacy (10/5): - Great location
- Peter (10/5): Great find for a good price. Will visit again next time I’m in town. - Quaint and beautiful. Room was spacious and had a nice, gas fireplace. Breakfast was excellent. Furniture in room old and wobbly. Chairs were unusable.
- Shane (10/5): Absolutely great experience - The breakfast they severed was worth $20.00 per plate at a minimum. It was excellent and the staff was top notch. Parking is tight.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -

- Trent (10/5): - What an incredible place to stay. Staff was super courteous, and the entire stay was perfect. Topped off with a gourmet breakfast. Pumpkin pancakes were off the chart. Will definitely return again. 100%
- Benjamin (9/5): Amazing location as a wonderful breakfast! - Central location, walkable to downtown. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious. Staff was very friendly and the breakfasts were excellent. Some areas in the room and property felt outdated, but that’s pretty normal in an older property that’s a bed and breakfast.
- Aimee (8/5): Very good - Quaint property with charming rooms. I appreciated the welcome snack in my room. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were lovely.
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Harold (10/5): - Staff / Manager were excellent. Breakfast was great and right on time. Bed was comforable. I was surprise with the noise from the sidewalk and street that lasted all night. Next time in Springfield this will be my first choice to stay.

- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fred (9/5): Great stay for the two nights we were there, thank you very much. - Unusual that it was a specific meal but the quality was excellent. We did move rooms, initially the door stuck and we had trouble getting out of the room. (The bed in that room was a bit soft) However they moved us without fuss and the next room again was excellent.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place, very comfortable and spotlessly clean
- Cherilyn (10/5): - Not only is the historic home simply lovely, but the staff was particularly polite and accommodating. The breakfasts were worthy of a magazine spread and were tasty as well.
