- SACHIKO (10/5): - 快適な宿でした。余裕ない日程ではありましたが、前泊出来るから、干潮のお参りもサンライズ・サンセットの、宮島も満喫出来ました!ロープウェイで焦りはしましたが、フロントの方の助言もあり、自分のしたいこと満喫出来ました！ 外国人対応がしっかりできているという事で、ラウンジが自分主体で活用出来くつろげる。大きすぎる宿ではないからこそのこまやかな気配りがあると思いました。 早朝、干潮時のお参りした後、ラウンジでのコンチネンタルMorning…軽い軽食とおっしゃっていましたが、ちょうどいい感じ！いい宮島旅になりました。次は…もうすこし、余裕ある日程で泊まりたいです！

Check-in was seamless and warmly welcoming — the staff member who greeted me (I wish I’d caught her name) was attentive, engaging, and full of interesting conversation. She shared her own travel stories from Oxford and London, and even remembered I had an early departure, thoughtfully arranging a breakfast to take with me — a lovely touch. The room itself was outstanding — easily the best night’s sleep I had during my time in Japan. The location is ideal: peaceful and tucked away from the crowds, offering a real sense of escape. Dinner was pleasant, though not the highlight — the food was fine and service was great, but it’s not somewhere you’d come for a culinary standout. That said, during the day you can enjoy the street food stands nearby and opt for a lighter meal in the evening.

The snack/continental breakfast room was lovely. Our room was divine! We were upgraded to a sea view room where we could enjoy the famous Torii gate from our window. The hotel was so quiet and serene, even as the streets outside were bustling with island visitors. This stay was a definite highlight of our time in Japan.

- Verified traveler (10/5): lovely night in Miyajima - We had a lovely stay in Miyajima, a stone's throw away from Itsukushima Shrine. Our ocean-view room had a view of the torii gate of the iconic shrine. Everything about the room from that view to the bedding to the bathroom was immaculate. We also enjoyed a course (kaiseki) dinner facing the ocean, and Itsukushima Iroha catered to our vegetarian diet needs for dinner and breakfast. To top it off, our friendly receptionist suggested some lovely local sights after we asked for some recommendations beyond the shrine.

Only problem is that everywhere to eat in town closes at 4-5 pm and the hotel offers only a very large prix fixe dinner that must be reserved in advance. A hotel in this price range should make allowances for guests who don’t want or need the full dinner experience.

Very spacious rooms with nice beds, Japanese style seats and desk on tatami mats and western style chairs and desk. Very nice bathroom with onsen style tub. Lots of amenities. Do better than I did and book more than on night. I prolonged my stay, but unfortunately sea side was not available. Mountain side is also nice, but sea side is the side that you want!

- Robert (10/5): - While it was disappointing that the torii are shrouded in scaffolding we were impressed with the wonderful service and lovely facilities at the Kurayado Iroha. I agree this is a luxury hotel at a premium price, but disagree with reviews that say it is not worth it. You are paying for location, excellent service, delicious food and impeccable attention to detail. Even the artwork in the bathroom of our room was lovely. The rooftop hot springs were exquisite with a spectacular view of the Torii (when they are again viewable) and every detail of our dinner and breakfast were beautiful. We have been to many ryokan in Japan and we consider this one of the best in the more modern category. Special appreciation to Yuya at the front desk who was an especially helpful host to us as it was our first time to Miyajima!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Great honeymoon stay - We travelled all over Japan for our honeymoon. We stayed on Miyajima Island one night at Kurayado Iroha and it was superb. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodations, good location. Very comfortable futons. The Japanese breakfast was beautiful and delicious. The Onsen was both indoor and outdoor. Excellent. We hope to stay there again one day!

- Katrina (10/5): Pricey, but worth the incredible onsen view! - I booked Kurayado Iroha solely for the open-air onsen on its roof, but it was the rest of it that impressed me the most! - Multilingual staff were extremely attentive from the moment we walked in, handling our bags and reservation immediately - We were shown to our room and introduced to all its features, then the staff member returned with hot tea and snacks! - Located right in the middle of the shops on the island, and not even a five minute walk from the shrine. The nighttime onsen view was to die for! Not only could we see the shrine and torii lit up from the roof, but we could also see all the lights of Hiroshima and the boats on the water! A must-stay for any onsen enthusiast, or anyone wanting to try out the Japanese bathing experience for the first time!

A great chance to try many different Japanese foods of the highest quality and well prepared and presented. Service was beyond reproach. The only complaint was as other reviewers commented, street noise was a problem. We were on the top floor and until the partying ended you could not sleep. If they installed better sound reducing windows this would be perfect. Baths were very clean and not crowded.

We wanted an authentic yet luxurious experience as we were midway through our Japan trip and wanted a nice relaxing place to enjoy, and that is certainly what we got! The service is impeccable and whole hotel was to a high standard. We loved our room and the the whole experience. Fabulous location (short walk from ferry) and the hot baths upstairs were amazing. We even got a view of the Torii gate from the outdoor bath! We didn't get the dinner so can't comment on that, but we did choose the Japanese breakfast which was done to a high standard albeit it's more for the adventurous foodie. Would recommend the Western breakfast if you are picky!
- Reed (10/5): Favorite place to stay on our trip to Japan - We really enjoyed this place from the moment we arrived. The staff were warm and helpful. We stayed in a 2nd floor room because we wanted the futons. When we booked it, we were worried that the rooms would be a bit noisy because they were close to the street - but this was not the case. It was super quiet and a perfect stay. The bath was super nice - clean and has a great view of the Torii gate. We did the half board, so had the Japanese breakfast here. It was fantastic. Very well done. Great service and wonderful food. Definitely a highlight for the trip. One note: during your stay, you leave the room key with the front desk... we didn't realize this and started to walk out with it, but the staff chased us down and explained it :) Also worth nothing - of all the places we stayed, they had the best communication before we arrived. Emails were helpful and informative about restaurant choices on the island and getting there at the right time.
- diana (10/5): Lovely Hotel - Great location, staff were friendly and attentive. As my daughter was celebrating her birthday on this trip to Japan, the owner of the hotel gave her a beautiful birthday card upon her arrival at the hotel. On a rainy afternoon when we got back to the hotel rather wet, they even brought a pot of hot green tea to the room, to help us warm up. On our last morning, we checked out and did the hike up Mt. Misen, upon our return to collect our luggage, they offered to return to our room and shower and change our cloths before we left the Island. The outside hot bath was an amazing way to end a day of hiking, with a great view of the bay and Tori. Would highly recommend this hotel if staying a night or more.

Excellent as they put a foam padded rollout under the futon, thus making it comfortable and it doesn't feel like you're sleeping on the floor. Also, it was nice To have a separate small room with a partition so one could sit on chairs and read if their partner was asleep. Only drawback was not being able to experience the breakfast because we had an early flight to catch ...and yet we were still charged for it and they couldn't accomodate serving it earlier!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Pleasant Stay Indeed! - I have always wanted to stay here for the last 2.5 years and grateful that I could plan a trip to Miyajima this year. Very satisfied with staying here. The service was excellent. All staff speak fluent English. When we checked in, they checked with us the time when we wanted breakfast. We set it at 8am. The following day when we reached at 8am, a table was already set up with our food! Excellent service! They also have a shop at the lobby. It sells interesting gifts for people back home.

- H (10/5): Very friendly helpful staff make for a lovely stay - This is lovely Japanese style inn is centrally located on Miyajima. It is in walking distance to the ferry, shrine and ropeway. It can be a little noisy during the day from the tourists walking past the hotel on the narrow commercial street. Room was spacious and comfortable. Bath is also very comfortable. Breakfast (had the Japanese style) is delicious and a feast for the eyes. Public baths on the top floor have a view of the water and are spotless and relaxing. My only complaint is their internet is not dependable. Sometimes it would work and often would not. However, this is a lovely place to stay.

Whilst we were at dinner our table and chairs were moved and comfortable beds made up on the tatami mat floor. We also enjoyed the onsen (bathing area) on the roof, the lovely service and the nice food here.

- Mel (10/5): Fantastic hotel - This was a fantastic hotel. It is right off of the main street where it is fun to shop and stroll around especially in the evening. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The onsens were on the roof and had a nice view of the mountains. They served a 10 course meal which was delicious and the best meal we had while in Japan. We had the "western" breakfast but it still had a Japanese flair and was also quite good. Service was excellent. It was more expensive than some of the other places we stayed in but was our favorite location.
- Jade (8/5): Beautiful stay, but could have been better - We had a lovely stay here, the staff were exceptional and the facilities were good. However, we were very dissappointed at breakfast when we asked for additional juice because it was so tasty and were informed we would be charged for it. It made us feel uncomfortable and we felt that when breakfast comes with an over night stay you should be able to ask for an extra glass of juice! It was a very expensive place to stay after all. Secondly, we were also charged for water in the room which seems a bit crazy!! We didn't find the futons overly comfy either to be honest. I would say that the bathing facilities were immaculate though especially the outdoor onsen.

We were served 2 different breakfasts on 2 mornings, and even though we don't eat meat/fish/eggs, they managed to feed us a delicious meal both times. All of the staff is extremely attentive, very kind and welcoming. The hotel is very well located, near the JR ferry pier and in the middle of the shopping/restaurant street in Miyajima. Most attractions are walking distance. The rooms were clean and spacious, the bathroom is very nice (heated toilet with automated lid). Definitely recommend this ryokan.

I would love to come back for a longer stay next time.

Futons are to small though not recommended for people taller than 5'9". Room on the second level are one level above street and facing street so it is noisy and the view is not nice.

They are solely focused on their guests and the quality of the guests' stay on Miyajima Island. We received immediate attention each time we were in the lobby, and every question was answered clearly and enthusiastically. Most of the staff spoke excellent English, which was helpful. The meals were incredible, too. I can't imagine having a better stay - definitely worth the price. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay! - Loved everything about Kurayado Iroha. The service was great! My friend and I arrived early but we were able to leave our luggage there whilst we walked around the island. Coming back, our luggage was already in our rooms and the lovely staff guided us there. The ryokan staff then asked us to take a seat at the tables and we were served matcha tea and local maple bean cakes. She also showed us what was available in our rooms and instructions for wearing a yukata and using the public baths. Every time we left and returned to the hotel we were greeted by all the staff at the ryokan. And breakfast! Breakfast was amazing!! We chose the traditional Japanese style breakfast for both days and each day was different. You can tell lots of effort was put into making our meals. Everything was beautifully presented and although we weren't a fan of all the dishes they were very enjoyable meals. It is a small ryokan but this allows greater attention to their guests which I think is a great approach. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying at Miyajima, esp couples.
