Guest Reviews
- Sheila (10/5): A treasure of a find! - We stayed for one night and can’t wait to come back! A beautiful Inn that is clean, comfortable, stylishly decorated and has the most wonderfully welcoming staff and atmosphere. Our room was everything we needed: peaceful and quiet. The quality of the facilities in the room and Inn were excellent and nothing was too much of an ask.
We ate dinner and breakfast during our stay - an exceptional experience! We loved everything!
- Lee (10/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): -
- Helena (10/5): Warm welcome, home from home - Lovely warm welcome! Great atmosphere, super room with a view of the fell. Walking straight from the door. The sun shone all weekend. We had a great dinner. Thank you Phil and family 😊 Nothing
- Graham (7/5): Great value, friendly - Homely
Friendly
Clean
Great value
Excellent breakfast Room very basic but reflected in price
- Hasted (8/5): - Our room was beautiful and so comfortable Only issue we had was couldn't get bath to fill up due to water pressure . Evening meal and breakfast was lovely.
- Ida (8/5): -
- Pauline (10/5): Excellanat stay , - Very clean and owner very welcoming . N a
- Jacalyn (9/5): Great place to stay ...lovely place and lovely staff would definitely stay again. - Lovely stay in this great small hotel/inn ...perfect for a weekend vacation.
The downstairs bar and eating area had a lovely atmosphere and nicely decorated Nothing not to like
Only the food good enough but could be better
- Anne-louise (9/5): Perfect location just outside of grassington centre, with free parking too. Really great feel in the bar area with our d - Location great, food excellent, lovely quiet rooms, dog friendly and nothing is too much. Excellent Not much really, only thing we would say is not much power in the showers, but that’s not a big problem really.
- Westleigh (9/5): Ideal base for exploring the Dales. - Ideally situated for visiting the local area of Grassington and the town of Skipton. Large selection on the menu for breakfast, which was well cooked. Friendly staff, comfortably bed .
- Andrew (7/5): The experience was reminiscent of a good version of Faulty Towers - Breakfast was fine. There was a deficiency of black pudding. The furnishings were dated and the low ceilings were painful.
- Bernadette (8/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Very good stay, we will be calling again - The staff and Phil were really friendly and made us feel welcome, Phil showed us to our room which is unusual these days but a nice touch.
The food was very good and again the service was excellent. My wife struggled with the stairs, but it is an old property so there isn’t anything the owners could do about that, but again Phil was there to help get our cases to the room if needed.
- Tony (8/5): -
- Dennis (8/5): - Great location, lovely welcoming staff, very nice food and great bar Shower and bath hot water supply not great
- Amy (8/5): -
- Judith (8/5): - Lovely stay at Devonshire Arms this weekend. The family who run it are very friendly and accommodating. Our room was comfortable and clean. There was a fridge in the hallway with fresh milk and chilled water which was a thoughtful touch. We had our evening meal there which was excellent. Cooked to perfection, tasty and made with quality ingredients. The breakfast was also nice.
It's a great base to explore the dales from. Plumbing, beds and duvets could do with updating.
- Ellis (10/5): Michelin star standards for a fraction of the price - Absolutely phenomenal stay, we couldn't have asked for more. The place, the owners, the food and location is 10/10. That I hadn't booked more nights but I will be returning for my birthday.
- Triumph Explorer 1200 (8/5): - Location, food, beer, and accommodation. On a sunday, they do a full menu until 1600. In the evening, they only do pizza. Which was lovely, but one to bear in mind.
- Kate (10/5): Great stay, perfect to relax after 10mile hike :) - Lovely warm welcome at The Devonshire arms. Beautiful rooms, lovely decor, very comfortable. Loved all the little touches.!! Evening meal lovely- beautiful fresh veg and prefect drinks. We even had a cocktail by the fire before bed which was made to perfection.
- Steven (10/5): Delightful Devonshire Arms Inn. - The location, close to Skipton and Grassington. Phil and Sam were fantastic hosts. Service was great and hospitality was amazing. Everyone were super friendly. Good beers and good food. Highly recommend The Devonshire Arms Inn the place to go if a relaxing break is needed. Nothing to dislike.
- John (9/5): Fantastic - Excellent facilities, it was very welcoming, the price was amazing and the breakfast included was lovely, room was great , would definitely stay again if I needed too without hesitation. All good
- Jenny (8/5): Great relaxing getaway - Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable team.
Great beer, food and especially good breakfast menu.
Nice walks from doorstep. Bath took a little while to fill due to low water pressure.
- David (8/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): -
- George (8/5): A lovely place to stay - Comfortable room. Lots of little extras like biscuits, water, fresh milk, tissues.
Excellent breakfast Evening meals on the expensive side.
- Neil (8/5): This stay was bought as a present for my parents and their dog, who really enjoyed their stay. -
- Michael (10/5): We had a great stay the owners are very accommodating and you feel that nothing is too much trouble. - The Devonshire is a lovely dales inn. Nothing
- Shaw (9/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Perfect stay lovely hosts and dinner superb - Lovely room Nothing
- Peter (9/5): A relaxing break. - Friendly and welcoming rural pub but not too far from a load of different things to see and do. Excellent food and friendly staff.
- Julia (10/5): -
- Zoe (10/5): Fabulous hosts, meal in the restaurant was excellent and very reasonable. I would definitely stay again. - I was made to feel really welcome. Check in was really easy. Room was clean with all amenities. Breakfast started after my scheduled departure time but I was offered a breakfast bag which was amazing. Fresh milk and chilled water was available. The room was a bit chilly despite the radiators beaming out heat. But as it’s an older property, it must be very difficult to keep warm. Not a criticism at all.
- Lucy (9/5): - Friendly hosts, lovely food, great location and nicely decorated room with comfy bed
- Michael (9/5): Really great accommodation, well situated for a walking break. - Very nice room with good bathroom facilities.
Great food and friendly service from a family run hotel.
Will be back. Nothing to dislike
- Colin (9/5): Very cosy and lovely Xmas ambiance with quality food ! - Cleanliness, character and charm. Quality of food. Bathroom water pressure for shower and bath hot tap in particular

- Robin (8/5): - Some of the property upkeep could be improved on.
- Peter (9/5): This was my 3rd stay here and I'll be going back again too - perfect. - Quiet location, excellent food and beer, lovely staff.
- Neil (10/5): Lovely stay at a beautiful country pub - Beautiful country pub set in Cracoe, just a few miles away from Grassington. Very dog friendly, great food, log fires and super friendly staff. Service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Bright sunny room at the rear, overlooking the fells. Good breakfast included. It's a very old building so it is a little cold and draughty. The weather was extreme however at minus 6. I'm sure it's perfectly fine the majority of the time.
- Steven (9/5): - Brilliant location, lovely inn with friendly staff and great atmosphere.
- Mike W (10/5): A beautiful place to stay and very warm, friendly Landlord & Family. - What a beautiful place! We received a very warm and friendly welcome from Phil, the room was lovely and very clean.
Our evening meal and breakfast were both absolutely delicious, and the New Year's Eve entertainment (Fireworks and drinks) were fantastic!
We had a wonderful stay, thank you so much, we will definitely be back, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing stay in an amazing location! Nothing - it was faultless.
- Adele (9/5): Perfect quick, peaceful stop. - It was cosy, clean and the welcome was very friendly. Also a massive plus was the fridge with proper milk in the corridor, such a small gesture but so much nicer than those horrid tubs of milk in most places- Much appreciated! Nothing really, it was a little noisy when the bathroom light was on due to the fan but I was more concerned as it was late and didn’t want to disturb other guests, it is the only thing I can think of.
- sharon (8/5): - Such a lovely homley place .The staff were very welcoming, We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was exceptional. Thank for a lovely stay will definitely return. Nothing it was all Good .
- Cathy (10/5): - Lovely warm welcome by this Family run Inn. Food was excellent and the roaring fires added to the wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended ☺️
- sarah (10/5): A gem of a place! Definitely recommend - Beautiful place in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
Delicious supper & breakfast with very tasty options.
Comfortable room with views of the hills.
Welcoming & well run by lovely hosts.
- Laura (8/5): -
- karl (9/5): Wonderful stay and incredible value for money - Everything was excellent, food , beer , hosts , location. My Double room was a little small but fine for single occupancy.
- Rochelle (10/5): Would love to return - Welcoming, clean and warm and beautifully decorated Nothing
- Frances (8/5): Comfortable, accommodating and a nice location. - A very interesting, historic place to stay in a good location . Excellent opportunities for walking, especially with dogs, who receive a welcome pack - a very nice touch! The location is also good for visiting local towns by car of by bus. The breakfast choices are very varied and the pizzas in the restaurant are delicious. We would certainly stay again. The rooms are not large, but spacious enough for two people and a dog.
- gillian (10/5): - What a beautiful place! The hotel was immaculate, so much effort goes into maintaining the place. Our room was perfect, cosy, lovely bed, really pristine. Lovely garden view, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and biscuits replaced daily. Lovely shower creams and lotions. The owners made sure we were looked after and happy. Would definitely go back, definitely highly recommend it.
- Warren Bott (8/5): - Clean, nice food Too few staff
- mary (9/5): - Good location. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast A little bit of noise from parties in the dining room / bar below but not after 11.00 pm so ok
- Kath (10/5): Amazing, welcoming and friendly welcome - Amazing! Having to go home!
- amanda (9/5): comfortable bed in a lovely old inn - love;y old pub
very comfy bed
good pillows
- Sandhoe (10/5): - I love staying in "traditional" country inns and inns and it is gratifying to see one thriving. The owners clearly go that extra bit to make guests welcome and their stay positive Nothing to dislike.
- Graham (6/5): Bad nights sleep - The staff very welcoming & attentive .
We stayed at the pub & ate in the restaurant .
The food was exceptional hats off to the chef for providing a wonderful dining experience .
Loved the wood burning fire was very warming on a wet cold evening ,great to sit by the fire at the end of an evening with a drink or two ..
The rooms are big & clean with a nice view of the garden which has a lovley outdoor seating area which i bet is great on a summers day .
Breakfast was good choice of cereals & a lovley cooked breakfast with several options & topped up drinks . Unfortunately the room we stayed in had the boiler in a cupboard& it seemed to be on all night .
I understand it was a cold night but this kept us awake with it constantly coming on & off .
The bed mattress was awful ,feeling all the springs ,so this was a real let down as lack of sleep from the boiler combined with a shot mattress left us with little to no sleep & a bad back .
We feel if you could either have the boiler on a timer ,so its not on all night or put a sliding door to help lessen the noise to the bathroom may help & a new mattress we would have given full marks as the food ,staff & cleanliness of the room was shadowed by the mentioned above ..
- Jeff (8/5): Good value - Great food Met our needs
- ANNE (9/5): -
- Smith (10/5): Lovely place. Will definitely stay there again - The friendly welcome & personal attention to guests.
Small touches like fresh milk in fridge on landing.
Cosy bar with log fire.
A reasonably priced single room. Plastic-backed mattress cover.
- Vin (8/5): Warm friendly staff food top notch rooms clean comfortable perfect old world public house - Old world charm Water pressure a little poor affecting the shower
- SOOKYOUNG (10/5): -
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Moore (8/5): Lovely staff , couldn’t do enough for you and the food at the inn was really nice - Excellent breakfast and lovely location Would have preferred a room facing the back
- Katie (9/5): Friendly family pub with lovely rooms and food - Nice presentation, lovey staff, great breakfast
- Peter (10/5): Happy repeat stay - will gladly come again too. - Great location, great hosts, lovely food and good real ale.
- Mark (8/5): Met expectations - The property was very charming with great character . My room pleasant & cosy , the hosts very helpful and served a great breakfast . The only thing been that the property is very close to a main road however, good location in the fact it’s only a ‘hop & a skip ‘away from Grassington with some lovely walks along the river Wharf.
- Mike (9/5): Very clean comfortable family run business - Very welcoming plenty of car parking spaces, clean comfortable room and good food with a great choice of ales. Nothing to dislike.
- Graham (9/5): If it’s a hotel away from it all and with great food then you should try this. - Great location between Skipton and Grassington. Very friendly family hotel and bar. All great but if I’m honest the shower wasn’t good however I’d still return
- David (8/5): Comfortable and clean accommodation, fantastic staff. Great menu with very high standard of food & drink. - Excellent friendly pub atmosphere
- CatherineDson (8/5): Lovely stay in the Yorkshire Dales - The room was spacious with a view of the garden and the bed was comfortable. The fridge on the landing containing water and fresh milk for tea and coffee was a nice touch. Beakfast was excellent. The only negatives were the steps up and down to the bathroom from the bedroom, tricky to navigate in the dark. Also the shower could have been better.
- Ian (9/5): -
- Barry (9/5): -
- Sharon (10/5): Excellent short break away. - Central for days out. Comfortable rooms with little extras. Nothing not to like.
- Andrew (8/5): Very enjoyable stay and staff were polite - Older type of property but well maintained and nicely furnished The electric shower was poor

- Patricia (9/5): - In a lovely location with walks from the door and close to many other places of interest.
Very friendly hosts. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.
Great , very generous breakfast.
Lots of extras which are often missing at other venues eg small bottle of fresh milk in fridge outside room and lovely bathroom products.
- david (8/5): Fabulous old-world coaching inn - Beautiful old pub, restored extremely well.
Welcoming staff, very good food, some of which they grow on site!
We had a very attractive room with a view of the fells
- Alan (10/5): Lovely hotel, great hosts and food. - Great welcome, Phil and family were helpful throughout. We had evening meal and breakfast both really good. Evening meal was great value for the quality of food, plus good range of beers on draft. All good.
- Chris (9/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): 10/10 - Location was beautiful. Staff were warm and friendly - superb service. Breakfast was 10/10

- William (10/5): Exceptional hotel. - Beautiful place with lovely garden, great food, welcoming staff, comfy beds. Especially liked availability of fresh milk!.
- Gary (6/5): Great food/hosts but needs investment in showers . - Good location for exploring Dales with great walks on the doorstep . Food was excellent . Showers in both rooms literally non existent due to i assumer water pressure . I had to have a wash in the sink as after my wife struggled with extremely hot then cold and a dribble it just stopped flowing which was not ideal after a long drive and walking in hot weather .
- June (8/5): Comfortable room and excellent breakfast -
- Trevor (8/5): Good value for money in great location. - Food was good quality. Ate in the evening. Reasonably priced too.
Fresh milk provided.
Walks from the door. Bathroom was dated but didn't spoil stay.
- Emma (9/5): - Very welcoming, well appointed and comfortable
- Graham (8/5): Great country pub with good parking and food - Clean tidy and lovely breakfast and location Nothing
- Mary ursula (10/5): - Excellent accommodation. We have stayed here several times three times this year .walking is fabulous in this area and the food is first class. More like a good restaurant than a pub. This a a family run business and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Looking forward to coming back in the autumn. Liked it all
- Tim (9/5): -
- Balraj (8/5): - Food and especially breakfast was excellent. Bedroom furniture looking a bit tired
- Brian (10/5): Friendly welcome, fantastic food and spotlessly clean - The Devonshire Arms is in an ideal location for walks in the area with a large car park at the rear of the property. We were welcomed warmly into this family run country pub by Phil who explained everything and showed us to our room. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, there was fresh cold milk and water available which was a nice touch. Food in the restaurant that night was great and breakfast the following morning was superb with top quality locally sourced food. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help, would love to stay again!
- Sara (8/5): Nice friendly stay - Very friendly, comfortable bed, nice little touches like fresh milk for the room. Delicious breakfast. On quite a busy road, although it quietened down at night.
