Guest Reviews
- magdi Ishag (8/5): - Good
- William (9/5): Comfortable, clean annex with everything you need - A comfortable, clean and fully equipped annex. Had a good nights sleep.
- Andrew (9/5): Short stay at the Red Barn - Large and good quality towels, a rare thing. Small kitchen area but equipped with all key elements for light dining.
Quiet village location with public buses regularly available in daytime. Perfect short stay close to Thames walking. No equipment to cook anything substantial.
- Amy (8/5): - A very cosy, quiet little anex located in a stunning village.
- Candice (9/5): - Set in a really pretty rural village, the red barn is a beautifully renovated outbuilding that provides generous open plan accommodation and is furnished sympathetically to create a relaxed, cosy, modern country style space within a beautifully kept property next to the owners home and lovely garden. It was perfect for our overnight stay, with convenient safe parking and had everything we required. Tea, coffee, milk and ample breakfast goods were made available for our use and everything (tv, WiFi, heating and lovely hot shower) worked perfectly. Host was welcoming and pre stay communication was impeccable.
- Marlon (8/5): - Cleanness The location.
- Catherine (9/5): - Everything we needed, a comfy bed.
Lovely location. Stayed here several times. Had an issue with the WiFi, couldn't connect but step out of the door and had a signal.
- Tim (7/5): - Friendly host. Comfortable room with all the facilities needed. Internet router WiFi connection was good but no internet was available.
- OKTAY (7/5): - The property is nice, and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. With a little more attention to cleanliness and, especially, improvement of the internet connection, it would be a very pleasant place to stay.
- Tim (8/5): Mini Oxfordshire break - Very comfy and perfect for 2 people It was a warm day and the towel rail was on and made the bathroom v hot. Couldn't turn it off.
- Tracy (10/5): - We stayed for two nights to visit Grandchildren and didn't get to visit the village. I understand there are some very nice pubs nearby. The accommodation was lovely, everything we needed. Would definitely stay again.
- Miriam (9/5): Clean, convenient and comfortable - Nice location, easy to find (host gave good directions too), easy to park, warm, comfy, clean with breakfast items provided. Perfect overnight stay
- Shepherd (9/5): Great place for a couple of nights - This was great for a couple of nights. It's like a bedsit, everything in one open plan space (apart from the bathroom, obviously) The room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfy. Kitchen area had what you'd need for a short stay.
There is a pub down the road called The Plough which does good food. It's also a great place to walk from. We walked along the Thames footpath to Dorchester on Thames and to Wittenham Clumps. Nothing really!
- Dean (9/5): Every thing you will ever need and more from a perfectly run and laid out room. - everything was well thought out and the kitchen was perfect and pre stocked with all the basics. I only stayed for 1 night and wanted to stay longer.
- Richard G (9/5): A comfortable place to stay. - A very comfortable place to stay, that is easy to find, and easy to park the car. Located across the road from the pub (closed on Mondays).
A comfortable bed, small kitchen area that has almost everything, snacks and cereals provided.
No issues here.
- Catherine (8/5): Great short stay, lovely village. - Everything we needed, spacious room.
Great location. Bits for breakfast a bonus. Only minor was the bathroom needed a little extra tlc- skirting boards were dusty and the shower needed a deep clean.
- jonathan (8/5): -
- Kate (10/5): - Very clean and lady was welcoming me with smile on her face ☺️ felt really welcomed Nothing there to not like it
- Ashley (5/5): Could be lovely with a bit of TLC - I have stayed here twice now, both times easy to gain access and good parking. both times there was dirty plates and cups, there were no clean cleaning cloths they are left from other people, the shower is also broken, i left a note before and hoped this was fixed however the shower still doesnt work, it goes from stone cold to burning which you cannot stop, so you have only about 10 seconds before you have to wait for the loop again.
- Susan (7/5): - Spacious comfy room. Helpful information from the host. The room could have been cleaner.
- June (9/5): Comfortable, well equipped accommodation. - Very comfortable and convenient accommodation. We arrived midday on Christmas Day and the host kindly greeted us to let us have the keys. We returned late in the evening. Although the room was cold when we arrived, it soon warmed up with the two heaters. The kitchenette was very well equipped and the host had provided all the basics for breakfast, e.g. milk, bread, cereals, coffee, tea. Everything was fine.
- Madeleine (9/5): -
- Celia (8/5): - Everything you need in a spacious room
- Paul (8/5): -
- Richard (8/5): - Comfy bed and good facilities
- Jamie (10/5): Generous and well equipped room in a nice location. - I had a generously sized, warm and very well equipped room. There was a kitchenette, an en-suite and everything I needed to have a comfortable stay. Grahame was a gent and met me to pass over the keys and explain how everything works. Plenty of parking and easy to come and go once you've picked up the keys. I would definitely stay here again. The village is a little quiet. Which is tricky if you want to walk to get dinner on a night that the pubs are closed! But will suit some people who just want a peaceful place to stay and are happy with a ten minute drive.
- Martin (8/5): -
- Vijay (7/5): Cosy, convenient accommodation for an overnight stay - Very easy to gain access, free parking outside, cosy, and it was quick to warm up with the radiators in the room. Appreciated the milk, water, bread etc available in the room. It wasn't as clean as I expected. The towels were a bit grubby, spider's webs in places and dusty in others, with crumbs in the fridge door handle, bits on the floor...
- Mark (10/5): -
- Carlos (10/5): - El dueño muy amable, las instalaciones genial, con garage, cerca de los Cotswolds, un par de bares/restaurante cerca Todo bien si no te importa estar algo apartado y moverte en coche
- Amelia (10/5): - Great location for attending the Sylva Wood Centre. Lovely and clean great size with everything you need.
- Adrian (9/5): Excellent host and uber clean. Would stay again. - Cleanliness. Towels were high quality. Milk and bread were put into thee fridge. Sweeteners in the sugar pots.
- Lucia (9/5): A warm welcome in a friendly place - The warm welcome by Graham, our host, after a very long trip from Northern Wales. The Barn is beautiful and well equipped. And surprise, surprise: a tasteful breakfast was waiting in the fridge and on the shelf. Free parking in front of the house and a friendly pub almost next door. Niets
- Sarah (9/5): Beautiful, good value country escape - Beautiful, peaceful village. Private, calm room, clean. Bread, butter, milk provided and lovely to have a little kitchen. Great 5G WiFi. Parking right outside. Lovely host! Graham was so kind and pleasant. Definitely recommend for a country break. Little bit of noise from upstairs - nothing too problematic.
- Laura M (7/5): Nice host, property could be improved easily. - Really lovely host, very accommodating and allowed us to drop bags and get changed for a wedding before the check in time.
Great location for a wedding at THE EARTH TRUST, 6 mins away.
Parking provided which was great. Tea, biscuits, milk, bread and cereal were provided which was nice, but we could not find cutlery anywhere.
The room was very hot, and the fan provided was broken and made a clanging noise so couldn't be used.
The upstairs property is really noisy, even small movements come through very loud because of the heavily creaking floorboards.
- Julie Taylor (7/5): - The location was perfect. The accommodation was comfortable and spacious. The noise from upstairs, due to the design of the building you could even hear the people snoring., plus every movement at 5 o'clock in the morning it's not funny. I also found it very hot, even with windows open. I would recommend a lower tog duvet. I would also recommend a dishcloth and spray so I could wipe down after breakfast.
- Alison (10/5): Perfect place! - The Red Barn was the perfect place for what we needed. The room was really comfortable with a great bathroom and the simple breakfast was a bonus. The place has been very well fitted out and was very good value for money. I will definitely use this again if I need to stay overnight when visiting my parents in Didcot.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent value for money, really lovely location near a good pub serving nice food.
Very neat and tidy accommodation Very easy to check in etc. Nothing
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Cowley (10/5): The Red Barn, Long Wittenham - Lovely clean room in a quaint English village with a great pub, The Plough, just 40 yards away, serving well kept real ales. Graham, our host, is a lovely gentleman and made us feel very welcome.
The bread, butter, milk, cereals and biscuits were a nice touch.
The bath sheets and towels were beautifully laundered also.
We used this as a stop off to the Isle of Wight and would definitely use again. Nothing, really. The kitchen has a microwave, kettle and toaster but no hob, so just prepare for that with your self catering requirements. We did and it was fine. Or eat at the pub.
We had scrambled eggs and beans on toast for breakfast, the eggs bought from the village stores in Clifton Hampden, just a mile away along the same road.
- Sullivan (6/5): Quiet part of an English village. - Hosts left milk and bread for starters but I then needed to purchase my own groceries. The shower hose needs to be looked at as is was growing mould. I would have liked a secure way of getting fresh air into the room.
- David (5/5): Passable - Comfy bed and lots of facilities if desired. Very spacious. Situated in a pleasant village, though a busy rush hour in the morning. Room was what I would call 'half clean'. Sort of well presented, but on closer inspection, there was grit, hair, insect remains. Bathroom had dust bunnies. Ants wandering around. Bit of fuss about parking my motorbike inside the gate.
- Anthony (6/5): Pleasant - Very clean. Very friendly. Fresh milk in the fridge.
Comfortable bed. We were able to check in earlier as we were going to a midday wedding. No air-conditioning......only a fan. Wet towels but we didn't realise until we returned to the room at 11pm. No spoons to stir tea or coffee.
- Teresaf007 (10/5): Comfortable place with good facilities - Comfortable stay and the host Graham was helpful. Fresh milk for tea and coffee and cereal, bread and jam for breakfast. Just across the road from a good pub too. Sorry to have just been passing through and wish we could stay longer.
- Tim (9/5): Pit stop after day out exploring - Great communication, very comfortable bed. Nice extras like bread and milk provided. Ample parking. Quiet location.
- Kenneth (8/5): Clean comfortable place to stay. - Great stopover place to rest and enjoy. The local pub is a must visit for good food and entertainment from the pub locals. Nothing
- David (8/5): Very good - Plenty of breakfast cereal provided!
- John (8/5): Comfortable stay in a pleasant little village. -
- Wendy (9/5): Cosy, everything you need! - - Cosy, had everything we needed. Good location for the event we were attending. Host friendly! Found it quite hard to find, sat nav took us around the back for some reason so some direction guidance could be good! :) Shower went from cold to boiling without even moving the dial 😅
- Anna (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, pleasant contact with the hosts, enough room for two people for a couple of nights. We didn't have problems with noise from upstairs because nobody was in the flat above when we stayed.
The price is definitely good for the location- but would have preferred paying a little more and having it cleaner. The flat definitely needs better cleaning, especially the bathroom. We spent 30-40 minutes cleaning when we arrived but you could tell it hadn't been deep cleaned in quite a bit.
- Simon (8/5): Excellent choice for one nights stay. - Well located, lots of room, nice touches such as breakfast choices and milk etc. Quiet location. Could do with a deeper clean, but still very comfortable.
- Jayne (10/5): Exceptional - It was in the ideal location for what we needed.
- Rebecca (7/5): Lovely setting comfortable bed good price but disappointing that the above have not been addressed where possible . but - The shower has to be checked. Almost impossible to shower with the shower on hot as temp oscilllates from dangerously hot to freezing cold. I think the eco level is ok but it is not safe. Ants in the kitchen. Upstairs neighbour noise woke us at 6.30 on a Sat.
- Julia (5/5): Lovely location, needs a little TLC - Great village, nice pub, nice walks. Room has everything you need for light meals, I liked having magazines, good TV and wifi.
Noise from upstairs was bad, could hear every word.
Poor shower, low pressure, scalding hot then very cold.
Ants in the kitchen.
Frayed, sheets and frayed scratchy towels.
Unhappy parking is on verge, would not describe this as onsite parking.
- Tracy (4/5): A little grubby - Clean bedding and comfy bed. I spent approx 40 mins cleaning and still didn't feel clean. Then ants joined me at the table for dinner and kept making an appearance.
Noise from flat upstairs, they had a child. It didn't bother me but might have others. The shower was fine, just dirty.
- Joel (9/5): Superb -
- A (8/5): Very good -
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (7/5): Good village stay - Lovely village, across the road from a pub and spacious unit. As nothing is open locally on a Monday, we drove to Adington for an excellent dinner at the Nags Head. Amazing food and great staff. Starting to need a good clean, weak shower, and as our unit was on the ground floor, we could hear every movement of the people above us
- J (3/5): I won’t be returning - The food and drinks left were great The toilet brush was black, the sealant in the shower was black. The toilet seat had yellow stains and there was as limescale around the inner rim of the toilet that had then gone black. The bathroom needed a really good clean and a new toilet brush. The towels were frayed but did smell fresh and clean. The paint work throughout was tired and marked.
- Marcin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (4/5): Disappointing -
- Glyndwr (7/5): Lovely location lovely sized room heating and shower need attention. - Excellent location, lovely village and village pub. Room was spacious and well equipped. Bed was comfortable. A nice touch to have fresh milk, bread etc provided. I could not get the electric heaters to work. As it was late in the evening I did not want to disturb the host with this issue. The shower has poor pressure and kept going from very hot to freezing cold of its own accord. I had to leave for a work appointment so was unable to bring these things to the attention of the host.
- Marcin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joao (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (7/5): Good in terms of value for money. - Good breakfast hospitality’s. Only criticism would be the heavily creaking floorboards from the occupants above until late.
- Daniel (4/5): Not a great accommodation, host pleasant enough. - Not much Road side parking, dirty shower and toilet, tv bracket rubbish, bedside light not working,
- Stuart (8/5): A very nice stay with home comforts - very clean and with a lot of homely touches to make it even more pleasant. noise from flat above.
- Elizabeth (5/5): Was fine for a one night stopover. - Conveniently located. Hosts quite helpful Needs some updating. Noise from above was irritating. Hot water supply was not clarified.
- Kathryn (10/5): Definitely would stay again, tried to book but it was already booked up - Amazing accommodation was clean had everything you could ask for in the self catering, lovely cereals, bread, butter, milk, tea coffee, toaster, microwave, fridge, lovely linen and clean towels.
- Angela (8/5): Convenient and comfortable place to stay - Attractive apartment and comfortable bed. Easy to park and convenient for where we were visiting Some areas of the kitchen and bathroom could have been cleaner.
- Richard (8/5): A good overnight stop in an area with many tourist assets - Pleasant and thoughtful decor. Helpful provision of bread and cereals as well as tea and coffee. Very good recommendation on the restaurant in the village Nothing. All good.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Homely comfort and peaceful rest from working day. Made to feel very welcome.
- Mark (8/5): Nice hosts, nice accomodation and good location for my work. - Great little place. Nice room, kitchenette and ensuite. Perfect!! Nothing major
- Monica (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (8/5): Recommend for a short stay and pub just down the road - Lovely comfy room and a great host Shower a bit hit and miss
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (3/5): If you won't peace then avoid this place - The bed was clean and comfortable Nowhere on the description does it say you have people living above you in a creaky room with thin walls we were unable to relax. One baby and a toddler plus a loud lullaby mobile disturbed our evening and our nights sleep when the baby woke.
- Leonard (9/5): Superb -
- Wertybhgvbhgv (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (5/5): Lovely room but not very peaceful/quiet - The bed was comfortable and generally the room and amenities were lovely - shower gel, tea, coffee, milk, biscuits, cereal, butter and a few slices of bread were provided. Unfortunately it was not as quiet and peaceful as we had hoped based on other reviews. The neighbours have a room above (seemingly the baby's room) and the ceiling was very creaky whenever anyone walked above us, so our sleep was disturbed when they got up to comfort the crying baby (which we could also hear). After the first night we asked to cancel the remaining nights so we could book a different hotel but the hosts did not allow it.
- Steve (5/5): Passable - Good location, Welcome pack (milk, bread, butter, biscuits), shower Very noisy people above room, could hear them walking around, creaky floorboards, got woke up at 6am by this, they were playing what sounded like guitar music from 8pm to 1030pm and then from 8am, was still playing when we left, very annoying. Towels were very rough, parking was on grass verge next to road, no garden view as advertised, only the front of a bungalow
- Daniel (8/5): Lovely quick stop along our road trip route. - Lovely village, great pubs, cute mood in the apartment. Shower was a bit finicky, but we did get it working fine in the end.
- Tracey (7/5): Good -
- Richard (5/5): It absolutely did the job we wanted. Somewhere to get our head down after a wedding locally. Just glad we only stayed fo - Bed was comfortable enough which was really all we needed. As others have commented this property needs some money spending on it. Despite assurance that it is deep cleaned between visitors it didn’t feel really clean and I was surprised to see cobwebs around. Bathroom just about fit for purpose although sink plug got stuck down. Dirt or limescale build up? Towels frayed. Kitchen not really enticing enough to use. We got breakfast out, on our way home. As others have also mentioned the ceiling is very low and you can hear others creaking around above. They also have a baby now.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely converted barn in a beautiful location. Comfortable bed. Graham a brilliant host. Nothing.
- Lindsay (8/5): A great stay, thank you - We loved our walk around your village and enjoyed stopping in at the pub and sitting in the garden out the back.
- Kelly (7/5): Everything you need in a lovely village location - The location and directions were spot on. A lovely little village. The room is comfortable, has everything you need for a short stay. The host provided a fan as it was quite hot weather. The ceiling height is quite low, and there is some noise from upstairs guests.
- Duncan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Mitchell (9/5): Superb - Clean,, quiet and very well equipped. I liked everything about it.
- Isabella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (7/5): Good -
- James (9/5): Superb - Thank you Graham for another enjoyable weekend stay in your comfortable studio.
- Alicia (7/5): Good -
- Rhys (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jane (9/5): Lovely comfortable room in beautiful location - Comfortable and well-stocked. Everything I might need Gad been thought about. Nothing.
- Barbara (10/5): Well equipped and pretty place in a fantastic location. - Fabulous location, peaceful yet within easy reach of superb pub and restaurant. The unit was well equipped with good clear instructions on usage. Would be happy to return another time.
- Dean (7/5): Good - lovely village and surrounding area, there is a lovely pub directly across the road with very good food. there is a apartment directly above called the red barn studio that was initially confusing also very noisy from the occupants above and could hear every word.
- Claire (9/5): Superb -
- Lucy (9/5): Very comfortable stay - My arrival time had to be later than planned. Host was very accommodating and friendly.
