Guest Reviews
- Emma (10/5): perfect - breakfast was lovely, the bar was cosy and comfortable, staff were friendly and helpful
- hazel (9/5): -
- Kate (8/5): Excellent stay, friendly staff, good accommodation and plenty of choice in daily menu/breakfast. - Location was very good with access to buses nearby if you did not want to take the car into the city of Chichester.. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice for cooked breakfast etc. We had an evening meal the day we arrived which was excellent and so much choice.. Accommodation was very good, lovely comfy bed (two singles put together which gave extra width).. Tea and coffee facilities and room was lovely and clean. No faults at all. Only criticism was that although we had a walk in shower it had one overhead shower head which albeit you could alter to one side if you did not want to get your hair wet but it would have been better to have a separate hand shower attached.
- david (10/5): - Breakfast, plenty of selection hot or cold options.
Excellent evening meals lots of choice at a reasonable price.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Barbara Anne (10/5): Definitely stay again - Perfectly situated for our needs. Made to feel welcome. Friendly staff, great food and comfortable room N/a
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Sue (9/5): A real gem. - The room was so quiet and had everything we needed. The location was excellent with walks from the doorstep plus a bus stop less that 3 minutes away to go into Chichester or alternatively, along the coast to Portsmouth. Breakfast was superb as was the evening meal we had.
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect stay will return !! - The location is perfect staff excellent and caring the food was amazing and the breakfast was excellent Nothing to complain about
- Andi (10/5): Fantastic stay from start to finish - Everything from arriving at the Bull to leaving far exceeded our expectation
We parked the car in the car park and walked in to a dog friendly beer garden, which also catered for those that were not.
We then went to book in after ordering drinks from the 2 friendly bar staff, we were shown our lodging’s for our 2 night stay
Accommodation - who could ask for more, cleanliness is everything and far met our requirements There are a couple of things which are miner
1) The website did not sell the quality or scope of the premises
2) bath towels could be bigger
- Valerie (9/5): Comfortable, excellent food and cheerful staff - Larger bath towels please
- Arlene (8/5): - Food was excellent and plentiful.. Good car park and bus stop to town virtually opposite if you did not want to drive.
Pub had a lovely ambiance. Radiator in room didn't seem very responsive although they had provided a second heater.
- Robert (8/5): - Convenient for our purposes. They had a heating problem on our 1st evening, and it was extremely cold.
- William (8/5): Very comfortable - Nice pub and great food Nothing
- Tim (7/5): - Staff were very helpful Room was a dated and a bit cold
- Linda (10/5): - Excellent in every way
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Pauline (9/5): Marvellous place to stay and great value. - The Bull’s Head is real gem of a place and we were so pleased to have stayed there for three nights. The breakfasts and evening meals were exceptional. Staff are very attentive & welcoming - attention to detail is very evident. Our accommodation just off the courtyard was of a good size, very clean, with tasteful decor and good en-suite shower facilities. The licensees Craig and Nicky certainly take great pride in their business and ensure their customers receive the very best experience.
Whilst it is on a busy main road nonetheless traffic noise was not intrusive and is situated within easy reach of Chichester, Bosham, Fishbourne Roman Palace, West Dean Gardens and many other places of interest. None
- Philippa (9/5): -
- JOHN (7/5): -
- Jeff (10/5): The Bull’s Head is the perfect base from which to explore this part of the country. - It was perfect for the purpose of our visit.
The accommodation was comfortable, the food was excellent and the overall ambience of the Bull’s Head was first class, with a happy blend of locals and visitors mixing happily. The staff were also extremely friendly, welcoming and efficient. N/A
- JOHN (10/5): - The service was excellant , staff very helpful , food was great , room was spacious clean and bed very comfortable
- Veronica (10/5): - A very cosy and comfortable stay and the staff were amazingly attentive, they just couldn't do enough for us! Our vegetarian breakfasts were delicious and substantial, kept us going all day. The location for our one night stay was very convenient, being a good halfway point on the south coast between Newhaven, where we needed to be on the first day, and Southampton on the second day.
- Fiona (8/5): Good accommodation, close to city centre. Able to use public transport to get into Chichester. - Room comfy. Lovely breakfast.
All staff very pleasent. Couple of bits needed to be looked at when first arrived, soon rectified.
- Maria (10/5): - Friendly staff, comfortable room, great breakfast. We loved our stay and will be back again.
- Bernardita (10/5): Exceptional weekend! - It was a wonderful stay, in a property with character and charm. I liked it all !
- Stephanie (8/5): Gute Lage schöne Atmosphäre - Sehr gutes Frühstück, super liebes Personal. Der Chef hat sich selbst um uns gekümmert. Lovely Atmosphäre Das Zimmer war echt klein
- Julie (8/5): -
- Tim (10/5): - Friendly and comfortable Nothing
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional short stay - Stayed 2 nights while visiting for a wedding nearby. Only ate at the pub on one night but the food was good quality and plenty of it ( fishpie for me was exceptional for pub grub, other half had fish and chips which she liked as well but couldnt finish it all).
Full English breakfast was lovely. Room was clean and bed was comfortable, shower was spotless. So we had no complaints there at all. Breakfast was only served between 8am and 8.30. Never had such a short slot on a stay. We chose 8.30 as that's our usual breakfast time anyway, but it may not satisfy those who prefer a lie in or an earlier start.
- janice (6/5): Fairly comfortable but very small bathrooms. We had a wheelchair and it was impossible to get into the bathroom. However - Location. Food excellent Very stuffy rooms no ventilation. Very dark, mirrors located in the wrong position when seated at table you couldn’t see your face
- DAVID (8/5): -
- Andi (9/5): A gorgeous hotel with terrific staff. - The staff were so friendly & helpful during our stay. This hotel was lovely and the food was delicious. We had a bit of trouble with the hot water in the shower but that might have been our foreigner confusion about the way taps worked?
- KAY (6/5): - Nice little and clean room, and it was a good location for our trip. Breakfast was lovely, with a request sheet of your cooked breakfast choice required the night before. There was no hot water for our shower in the morning. We did not use it the night before, so we didn't know till then. There was no manager around, and so could only tell a member of the kitchen staff. Didn't really help as we were checking out.
- Kevan (8/5): Lovely stay - Lovely welcome. Nice spacious room. Good facilities. Tea,coffees, water snd biscuits daily. Good hot shower. Towels too small!! Def. Need bigger towels. Breakfast very good . Fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals. Hot items are pre ordered the night before. Well cooked and tasty. Pub itself was comfortable. Food excellent. Well cooked and well presented. Ample portions too. We actually ate in the pub the 3 nights as food was so good. Only negative was i asked for extra gravy for my pie and was given it. When the bill came i was charged £1.50 under open bar. I was a bit miffed especially as i had not been advised i would be charged. A lovely stay with just the 2 negatives. Bigger towels and either not charge or at least advise there would be a charge for extra gravy.
- Blackwell (8/5): Lovely stay good food & friendly staff. -
- Emily (7/5): -
- Simon (8/5): One night at the Bulls Head - We spent one night at the Bulls Head during our weekend away, and had a nice stay.
The room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay, the rooms were around the edge of the beer garden so you can sit and have a drink right by your room if you wanted.
The breakfast was very good with a good selection of cereals, fruit and full English, we also had dinner which was nice too.
It is in a good location with lots of exploring opportunities, so would make a good base if you are staying for longer.
- Howard (10/5): - Comfortable room and well maintained. Friendly, welcoming team.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was unfortunate that even at the start of the goodwood racing festival on a Tuesday that the kitchen closed at 8pm and the pub even for guests by 10pm. Otherwise a great place to stay and a great breakfast. 👍
- David (7/5): - The breakfast was very good ,the staff we're very helpful . The accommodation although large there were a few niggles 1 , the beds weren't very comfortable the mattresses were very thin and soft and the bases were of poor quality.
The beds need upgrading to good hotel quality .
2 , the TV was very small it needs to be twice the size and the choice of channels was pretty dismal and the satellite reception was not very good .
3 , there needs to be at least 2 comfortable chairs there were no chairs just a stool at the vanity unit .
4 , there needs to be more milk for tea and coffee .
5 ,The shower gel and shampoo were extremely tiny there need's to be larger bottles available .
The style and decor were very good .
- Gerry (8/5): Good value stay including a great breakfast. - The breakfast was great. Good quality sausages and bacon. The bed was a bit uncomfortable.
- Iris (10/5): - Friendly old country pub, lovely family atmosphere, very good food. Close to delightful walks and open countryside. A future return visit is in our diary.
- Graham (10/5): A Quint essential English Pub with good food and lovely staff - Great location lovely staff good food Really nothing worth commenting on
- TREVOR (10/5): Nothing fishy about this place. - Although located on a main road the noise from it was minimal as the rooms are behind the hotel close to the car park to make moving luggage simple. The room had all you needed for a break, decent comfortable bed, storage spaces, tea making etc. The bathroom was of good size with an excellent powerful shower. Other amenities included iron/board, fan and electric heater, toiletries and bottled water. The food was excellent, well presented, good quality, and generous portion sizes. The staff were marvellous, efficient and friendly all that you could want. Nothing.
- Susan (3/5): Run by young inexperienced people food took to long to arrive ordered breakfast night before and still late and very ove - Good location for where I needed to be Room were in pub garden
- Alison (10/5): A real gem! - A real gem. Super handy for Chichester, great bar, great food and friendly, helpful staff. Roons had everything you need, will definitely be back.
- Ruth (7/5): Good - Location to Roman Palace museum. Breakfast first morning great Pre order breakfast and having to choose a time. Not before 8 and no later than 9. Breakfast second morning poor. Bath towels not much bigger than hand towels. Previous occupants socks just, under bed in plain sight
- Christopher (7/5): Good -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yvonne (10/5): - Easy to get to and staff very friendly. Room was clean and had everything we needed.Excellent breakfast
- Louise (9/5): Superb - Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Staff very friendly and hospitable. N/A
- Linda (10/5): Very happy with our stay! - We stayed 3 nights a week ago. Our room was comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. Looked newly renovated. Perfect to use as a base to explore the area.
Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of it. Very happy!
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - Accommodation is in chalets in the car park. Quiet and comfortable.
Restaurant is excellent and Fullers beers a plenty and a guest beer Having to leave
- Phillipa (10/5): Stayed two nights for wedding. Great location, accommodation lovely. Friendly staff and great breakfast - Lovely pub. Room clean, comfy and nicely furnished. Comfy bed, slept like a log. Nice beer garden. Fantastic breakfast. All staff very friendly and attentive. Nothing
- Steven (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was very tasty and well prepared. Beds comfortable and both bedroom and en-suite spotlessly clean. It would have suited us better if breakfast was available at the weekend earlier than 8.45.
- Christopher (9/5): A perfect 3 day break - Cooked breakfast excellent. Would have like some pastries or different breads for partner who opted for continental. However, lots of lovely fruit offered.
We arrived by bike. It was a perfect cycling and walking location.
- Owen (9/5): Exactly what we wanted. - Perfect location for a visit to the Roman Palace at Fishbourne.
- Juliet (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, with a modern ensuite.
The pub itself was charming in a beautiful area, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was made to order with a variety of choices and the dinner was absolutely delicious.
As a group of four having a ladies get away it was absolutely perfect.
We would all highly recommend a visit here.
- Susan (6/5): - Small character pub. Rooms across garden, small but clean. Well appointed bathroom. Bed a little firm for my taste, very thin small quilt for a double bed, would not have covered 2 people.
Gluten free items on menu that could not be served for dinner. Not possible to create a full main course from items available.
- Allan (8/5): - Quaint country pub with rooms in what seems to be former stables. Excellent food and service.
Wonky tap in bathroom and small bath towel but comfy.
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (9/5): Relaxing overnight stay with very good breakfast, staff very helpful and friendly - Very good breakfast, location very good bus stop into Chichester just opposite with regular service Would have liked one of rooms that were in garden area instead of car park.
- John (10/5): A great place to stay - It was a lovely traditional pub but has developed superb accommodation. We were there when the nights were cold but the centrally heated rooms were very cosy and warm. The pub also specialised in their food with an imaginative menu with many interesting f seafood items with fresh supplies of seafood.
The breakfasts were great with fruit as well as the cooked breakfast. The owner, his wife and all the staff made us very welcome
The pub is near the Roman Fishborne palace and Chichester harbour and estuary
- Andrew (9/5): Really very good and we will be staying again regularly - Quiet, good food, friendly staff. Clean and well presented. Bright light outside with no way of closing it out.
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): A good stay in the right location for our requirements, would use again - Room nice and clean, good drink making facilities and a bootle of water each, nice biscuits. The restaurant and bar were comfortable, food good quality and service excellent, a good breakfast to set you up for the day. This is our second stay Not much
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (7/5): Good - Good restaurant in pub
Good location. I was looking forward to a cooked breakfast but this was only available between 8.30 and 9am and I needed to leave at 8am. I was given a take out breakfast and £10 refund but I booked expecting to get a cooked breakfast so disappointed.
- Rosalind (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to go back there again. - All the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.
Excellent food: breakfasts and dinners.
The overall cleanliness was good. The room was quiet. The heating worked well. The wardrobe space was adequate for a few days stay. There was an iron and ironing board if we had wanted to use them.
The location suited us well. We stayed for three nights and on the first day our room wasn't serviced.
The room was a bit stuffy. The only windows that opened were in the bathroom. (Realistically, I don't think that the owners can do anything to improve that.)
- mark (10/5): - Little stay over
- John (8/5): Great local pub, well located for Chichester and . - Excellent pub on the outskirts of Chichester. Our room was at the back of the pub in what might have been originally stables. Converted into very nice rooms with en-suite. Very quiet when we stayed, but might be noisy in the summer as next to the pub garden. We enjoyed cooked breakfast for the two days we stayed and a evening meal on one night. The pub was popular with locals for lunch and dinner, which says a lot. Convenient for local walks and the Roman Palace. We got the bus from outside the pub into town rather than drive £5 return. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would visit again.
- Jane (9/5): Superb -
- Hugh (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely roast dinner. Friendly staff
- Saz60 (8/5): Excellent stay with amazing food will definitely be back. - Breakfast pre order and limited but ingredients and taste were amazing. Lovely fresh fruit as well. Every meal we had over the 3 days we were there was outstanding. In fact the portions were a little too big. All staff members were friendly and professional they really made you feel welcome. Room clean and fresh bottled water every day. The room was a bit on the small side and no comfortable chair(s) to sit in but that was down to lack of space. Also the Wi-Fi only reached one side of the room. Bed and bed linen basic but comfortable.
- Anthony (10/5): A fantastic stay at a quintessential English pub 🙏🏻 - All the food was superb we had both evening meals at the pub. such a friendly team really made us feel special and valued. Accommodation was clean and comfortable
Shower was fantastic.
Brilliant location, great walks and close to Chichester town centre Nothing
- Mrs (7/5): Nice pleasant stay and recommend eating at The Bulls Head which served delicious food. Lovely friendly staff too thank y - Nice quiet location within easy access to places of interest. Conveniently located. The accommodation was a bit tired and in need of some TLC and a lick of paint. Flaky peeling paint on walls and a loft hatch covered up with tape was a bit of an eyesore.
- Maxine (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (9/5): Overnight stay to attend family wedding in Chichester. - Very friendly, welcoming owner and staff. Good atmosphere in the pub part of the property. Good size room and comfortable bed. Good freshly cooked breakfast. Large, secure private car park. Good location for access to Chichester where we were attending a family wedding. Although we were not there long enough to sample the lunch and dinner menus the food did look good and we hope to return some time to have a meal. Nothing
- Ian (10/5): Comfortable room and great breakfast - We had a nice room in the courtyard of the pub. It was quite simple, but had everything we needed and was comfortable. The breakfast we had was excellent - especially the butcher's sausages.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - very good breakfast
- Reid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jon (7/5): Good - Cosy friendly pub, quiet at night The room needs some TLC, redecoration
- Gareth (8/5): Very good -
- Blackwell (9/5): Superb - Accommodation good, food & staff excellent.
Lovely stay as usual.
- David (9/5): A great place to stay - Comfortable room, excellent breakfast and good bar food at night, recommended
- Christopher (10/5): Comfortable and convenient with excellent food and very welcoming. - We came to visit Chichester and to join our walking group on a walk from Chichester to Bosum so the location was perfect for us, particularly as there is a good bus service along the road. We liked the room which was a good size, clean and comfortable with a good shower. The breakfasts were excellent - good choice and well presented. We liked eating in the pub each evening as the food was very good and there was a very cosy and congenial atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing!
- Simon (9/5): Met all of our needs - Excellent. Good to be able to select choices in advance Rooms good size and location. Decor just a bit tired
- christopher (10/5): Good quality quaint country inn - Enjoyed a lovely, romantic mini break here. Very clean room (no.4 in the garden) great shower pressure, working tv, tea, coffee, hair dryer, iron, easy check-in. Excellent full english cooked breakfast and fruit cereal etc. Although its a pub inn its a very peaceful room because the pub is more of a gastro pub and everyone went home by 10pm so we had an extremely good night sleep. Recommended!
- Gary (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (10/5): - The owner and his wife, and every other member of the team we encountered could not have been more polite and helpful. We'll definitely be back next time we're down that way.
Special shout out to the fish pie, if you eat there, order it!
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eddie (6/5): Pleasant -
- Katherine (9/5): Beautiful flint pub with lovely cottage style bedrooms and great grub. - Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff were very friendly, helpful and made us feel like friends.
- Anne (8/5): A good place to stay for bed and breakfast. The evening meal we had in the pub was very good too - The breakfast was very good. Cooked to order at the time specified. Poached eggs perfectly cooked. The decor is in need of some attention in room 1.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (8/5): Good but not excelent . - Breakfast good prebooked evening before and good quality Room was adequate but had a few faults inc extract fan not working and heating not adequate.
