Guest Reviews
- S. (7/5): Prima - Leuke accomodatie met beneden de pup, heerlijk ontbijt a la carte Wat verouderd, maar ook dat kan je verwachten in zo’n oud pand. Het is oud maar wel schoon
- Helen (9/5): Stayed for two nights. Staff very welcoming, and accommodating for example when asked fresh milk was provided for the ro - Character. Nothing
- Rob (8/5): - Having had a wonderful dinner there the night before our expectations were high so a little disappointed with breakfast but it was still good
- Stephen (9/5): Popular pub in a quiet town. - We had been to see Bodiam Castle and Rudyard Kipling’s home so the location was good. We were glad to give a very quiet town some business. The staff was excellent and pub obviously popular as it might be the only one in town. We had dinner in an excellent Indian restaurant just down the street to have a change from pub food.
- Paul (7/5): -
- Dennett (8/5): Excellent place to stay - close to family so very convenient for us. - Excellent breakfast options - especially for vegetarians.
- Julie (9/5): Warm friendly, comfortable stay. - Lovely little local pub which was comfortable, good value and with friendly and accommodating staff. Only comment nowhere to hang clothes or drawers to put clothes in!
- Atsuko (9/5): Provided perfect accommodation for attending a family get together. - Spacious room, comfy bed and good shower. The decor was very good too. Nothing but it would have been great if less expensive.
- Jeroen (8/5): -
- Steffi Basch (10/5): -
- Geraldine (9/5): Very much enjoyed our stay, made more enjoyable by the staff who made us so welcome. - All the staff were friendly, polite, efficient, excellent service. Plenty of hot water.
Bed was extremely comfortable and we all slept well, better than expected. Very quiet rooms at the back.
Old Pub which was as we had expected, we love these old places. Great beer.
Very much enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast.
Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would go again.

- John (10/5): The staff made it, à great short break 5 ⭐️ - Great location, staff OUTSTANDING, food excellent, comfy, clean rooms. For us, nothing not to like.
- Peter (8/5): Had a lovely stay in a charming old inn - The room was a fair size and comfortable. The whole building was very charming, the staff very pleasant and welcoming.
The food was great, breakfast and dinner. Not much really. We weren't so comfortable on the mattress, though there was nothing wrong with it really, and the room was a little cool in the evening.
- Gary (10/5): - Friendly staff. Great location. Comfortable abd cosy All excellent.
- nigel (8/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): Nice stay , staff very friendly , food exceptional - Beautiful old inn , food was outstanding . Bed was very comfortable and the addition of locally freshly ground coffee nice touch Room was a a bit tired and would benefit from an upgrade especially the bathroom which felt a bit utilitarian
- Amanda (8/5): A lovely short break, we will most likely be back. - Pretty quiet village, off the beaten track. Old building with lots of character and a garden.
Good range of delicious gluten free meal options for my Coeliac daughter and myself.
Friendly, helpful staff
Plenty of parking space Drinks were expensive.
Some of the decor needed updating, eg shower grout and window frames.
- Jane (10/5): A gem in the cotswolds - A warm welcome from all the staff. Very cosy, clean country pub just what we expected. Excellent food both evening and breakfast. Spotlessly clean and comfortable beds. Nothing
- danihe (10/5): Excellent stay at The George - Staff were very friendly. Pub was a beautiful old building and room was good size. Lovely bath in bathroom and plenty of hot water. We loved the pub location which is close to lots of Cotswolds villages. Lots of free parking and good for large vehicles. Food was delicious (breakfast and dinner in the pub) and great rhubarb sour cocktail. Great value for money. Everything was great
- Margaret (6/5): Hotel was clean, comfortable and bar food and breakfast were excellentonly downside no storage in r - breakfast was very good a little slow to start a 8.30 not everybody was in a rush I unfortunately I had a meeting at 9.30 a little disappointed no chair, wardrobe or suit case rack. also no place in bathroom to leave toiletries had to pack items away daily room & bathroom were clean and tidy only fault with bath room shower to close to toilet
- Trevor (9/5): Staff and food excellent. Should have paid a lot more and got a larger room. - The food was excellent. The staff were excellent. We were in the cosy room. Which in all honesty should have been a single .
- Norman (8/5): -
- Denise (7/5): - Great location. Lovely atmosphere in the pub. Good lunchtime food. Small room and ensuite. Would have liked fruit at breakfast.
- Stella (7/5): -
- Azin (10/5): Great experience overall. - The staff were amazing. They were helpful and made us feel at home. The food wasn’t great but it wasn’t too bad overall.
- Caroline (9/5): -
- irene (7/5): Great location - Great location and friendly helpful staff Room over the bar so very noisy with music etc , bed sloping to one side, tiny tv partly blocked by 4 poster bed, no decaf coffee or fruit/ herbal tea, although when asked was given some. Bathroom needs updating.
- John (10/5): - Excellent location, food, and service. Lovely staff 😁
- Marie (10/5): Traditional Cotswold Inn - Fabulous inn restaurant with friendly helpful staff and lovely atmosphere. . Lovely food. Beer garden. Great breakfast. Warm, comfortable ensuite bedroom though not huge(it is an old traditional pub after all) with TV, and tea/coffee making facility. Enjoyed a pub quiz and Morris dancers outside celebrating St. Georges Day. Would love to revisit in the future. Nothing to dislike. All good for me.
- Suzanne (7/5): - Breakfast had nice options Bright green security light in room which stayed on and could not be turned off had interrupted sleep because of it. And shower door has a gap at bottom so leaked out.
- Jackie (9/5): - Comfortable, great food and friendly.
- Nicholas (7/5): The George - It is a lovely old pub, clean and comfortable. The TV didn't work, we could only get radio stations
- Martin (10/5): I'm rebooking as soon as I'm.in the area. ! - Idyllic perfect English Breakfast....👌.
Gourmet Restaurant.....an experience you will never forget....a
Equal to the best French in France...👌🥂
- DANIEL (10/5): Would stay again. Very welcoming, atmosphere pleasant. - Breakfast 10/10 The wallpaper design in the bedroom.
- Donald Todd (8/5): The place to stay in Robertsbridge. - Ideal location to visit 6 National Trust properties in the area. Clean comfortable room overlooking car park where we could see our vehicle. Very generous breakfast which kept us going throughout the day. Friendly staff - thank you.
- Michaela Graham (8/5): -
- Colin (9/5): We enjoyed it and would return without hesitation. - The staff were great, attentive and there when you wanted them. The room was very well presented and comfortable, everything exceeded our expectations. We thought the menu was imaginative, but perhaps too ambitious and overcrowded. Our breakfast was excellent. Our dinner was enjoyable, but lacked finesse.
- david (9/5): -
- John (7/5): Decent place, food was ok, rare steak needs resting time! Do not order if kitchen is closing in 20 minutes! - Charming somewhat eccentric accommodation, sash windows and bumpy floirs! Not very much at all, plumbing is antiquated, pillows were uncomfortable for me.
- Ian (8/5): Great visit to the Cotswolds. - The property was a very nice friendly place to stay, we felt really comfortable during our visit, our meals were all very good, with plenty of off road parking . Nothing.
- Christopher (10/5): - Fantastic team & really excellent service. The food was also top notch!
- Daphne (10/5): Idyllic English village lovely staff who made you feel welcome - Beautiful setting and lovely pub. The staff were very friendly and accommodating
Best Bloody Mary ! We had dinner there which was delicious and lovely atmosphere .
Definitely will return the room also included a very good breakfast All was lovely and easy
- Nigel (10/5): - Fantastic food good choice of fish, the two young waitresses were very professional and made our stay perfect
- Karen (10/5): - Lovely atmosphere
Staff were great
- Katie (10/5): Would stay again - Wonderful dinner&breakfast and hospitality from the staff, comfy room and beautiful location Check out specified as 10-11 on booking, but 10am at the venue- in saying this though there was no pressure to leave at 10 and we left about 10.40 with no question
- Michael (1/5): Huge disappointment 😞. - The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. I realise that it's an old building but it doesn't take much effort to renew rotten wood in the bathroom a toilet seat that collapses when you sit on it cobwebs all over the windows God knows the last time they've been cleaned. Seriously needs alit of attention.
- David (8/5): -
- David (8/5): - Excellent breakfast brilliant staff and good location The room was a bit tired and the bed was squeaky.
- James (10/5): If you’re planning a trip to the Cotswolds this is a great place to stay. - Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, quiet, large room and great value for money. Excellent food. Nothing.
- Simon (10/5): -
- Stuart (8/5): - Very charming country pub with a friendly and welcoming team. Full of character and the food is very good.
- Robert (7/5): Noisy neighbours above disturbed nighttime rest but staff and breakfast redeemed the stay. - Excellent breakfast! Good drinks tray and a comfortable bed. Curtains in room; paintwork in bathroom. Would not describe the room as de luxe.
- Deborah (9/5): - Beautiful traditional pub. Really good dinner and breakfast menus, the food was delicious, well presented and considered. Friendly feel. Everything you need for a night away under one roof
- Helen (10/5): Idyllic location, with quintessential characteristics of the Old English Pub/Guest House. - We loved the beautiful breakfast and stunning room. Also, fresh flowers in the room added a special touch. Nothing !
- Tiffany (8/5): Great value for money, would stay again - Very welcoming staff, very nicely decorated rooms, real milk in the fridge for coffees, comfortable clean and excellent value for money. Room was a little tired in places, carpet thread bare in places.
- Rachel (9/5): Lovely food and friendly efficient staff - Ambience Heating
- Simon (10/5): Vintage chilling - Wonderful, friendly staff, led by Jess a fun and hospitable host, good food, well kept local ale, friendly locals, lots of dogs and a roaring fire what's not to love. Lovely quirky old building, proper pub, smart separate restaurant/breakfast areas. Great location.very chilled long weekend. The rooms are spotless and housekeeping is daily but a bit more allowance to upgrade a little without losing the character, a dressing table would be more useful than a bedside cabinet for instance, hooks on the back if the doors for coats/dressing gowns would by handy. Otherwise cannot fault.
- Katie (7/5): -
- Claire (9/5): - Lovely old pub. Welcoming friendly staff. Great food and bar area lovely
- Jackie (8/5): Friendly Inn - Lovely quaint inn with a lovely log fire. Staff and the locals were all friendly. Food was tasty and good quality, although it was expensive for food and drinks. Room was large and still cosy
- Deborah (10/5): A beautiful pub, lovely bedroom and friendly staff. Location was good for us as we had a nice walk across fields/ go - It was a beautiful traditional pub. Just what we were looking for. Great beer garden and cosy bar with games available to use. Nothing. We loved it.
- Andrew (10/5): Very pleasant stay at the George Inn, particularly liked the friendly and accommodating staff and t. - The friendly and helpful staff for which nothing was too much trouble. The comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and cleanliness of all areas.
The outstanding quality and presentation of the food. Room 4 was quite small particularly as we had a dog.
- Darren (6/5): Overall had a nice break , good value for money overall. - Breakfast and dinner cant complain very nice. the hosts were very nice. Though the room needs a spring clean. shame the cups left in the room for tea were not clean. could of done with a mini fridge to keep the water in the room chilled. the room could do with a lick of paint or freshened up, decent size room. Other than those small details was a pleasant stay. wasn't a lot to dislike it was kind of what i expected, good value for money overall considering breakfast included which was nice. a little bit noisy above our room early hours i think the people working there stayed above us so i would recommend put the visits above ? lovely area though just tweak a few things and it would of been spot on.
- Stuart (10/5): A charming venue, with very friendly staff and fantastic food. - The George is set in a peaceful, quiet location, but near enough to the Cotswolds. It was clean, picturesque, with very friendly staff, great bar and tasty breakfast. Nothing…the only very small thing was that we could hear what was presumably the restaurant and/or kitchen quite clearly in our bedroom, but it is an old property and the noise stopped at a reasonable time, so it was no problem.
- JONQUIL (8/5): -
- ADRIENNE (8/5): Enjoyable stay, would recommend and would stay again - Had a good stay. Staff friendly and welcoming. Good quality bed . Good breakfast choices and quick service. Tea and ground coffee available in the room with daily fresh milk and water.
Plenty of parking spaces. Access to garden via car park. The room was a little too hot. Only had one pillow each, but in fairness we didnt enquire if another was available.
Older building so a little low ceilings in places.
- Debbie (9/5): Great, we would love to stay here again - Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely food Room was good value for money but needs a bit of an upgrade
- Martin (7/5): -
- Williams (9/5): - Staff incredibly friendly and helpful.
Food was tremendous including a fantastic breakfast The building was very old and the floors were a little uneven.
Lots of cobwebs around which could do with cleaning
- Alison (7/5): Comfortable and convenient - Nice quiet village pub with guest rooms. I stayed in a very large bedroom overlooking the village, with a huge bed, en suite shower, plus separate toilet.
Staff were really helpful and friendly.
Decent pub food at a good price. Room was very cold when I arrived during the evening but found the radiator valves which sorted that out.
Toilet looked like it was being refurbished but wasn’t quite finished. Everything worked as it should but the finishing was very untidy.
- e (7/5): - Helpful, welcoming staff. Great breakfast. No wardrobe/ hanging space.
- Chloe (8/5): -
- Marian (9/5): Excellent staff. Clean & comfortable - Very welcoming staff. Friendly & helpful There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the property.
- ACSukltd (7/5): -
- Peter (8/5): -
- R0B1NH00D (8/5): - The bass noise from the music, but it was Friday night.
- Sian (10/5): - Friendly staff who were most welcoming

- Joanne (8/5): -
- Janice (9/5): - Good food, clean and comfortable room. Loved the ground coffee, cafetier and fresh milk. Need a few hooks in the bathroom.
- Valarie (9/5): Made welcome7⅚.⁴⁵ - Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast great communjty vibe. En suite a bit compact but shower very good.
- KIM (5/5): Room small beyond belief! Not a great stay. - Pub in a good location.
Bar area was cosy.
Staff friendly. The Bedroom was small beyond belief - we were expecting compact for the price we paid.
There was no wardrobe, not even a single hook on the wall or back of the door to hang our coats. Had to resort to hanging coats on the bathroom - not ideal.
Nowhere to put anything, just one small bedside table.
The bathroom plumbing had to be fixed on our first day and wasn't very clean.
- Alex (9/5): - The property has an old worldly charm, the rooms were comfortable with everything you could need for a pleasant stay.
The food was excellent from evening meals to breakfast in the morning. Wifi was poor but 4g was decent.
Breakfast is from 8.30am to 10am. I felt that the breakfast should be getting served from 7.30am for people who are travelling to work.
- Andrew (10/5): Warm welcome and excellent service - Convenient for my meeting and subsequent annual dinner Nothing

The complimentary G and T in our room was a lovely welcome. Parking was easy.
We had a delicious Turkey roast which was perfectly cooked with delicious sides. Breakfast too was generous.
The George is the epitome of a truly British pub so rare to find these days. We will certainly be returning on our next trip to visit family in the North West. Nothing
- Carol (9/5): -
- Kal (8/5): -
- Ursula (9/5): Loved it - Breakfast was delicious as was the main meal the night I arrived. Niggle point. Hooks for coat and probably a hanger.
