Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): - Great Japanese style hotel. Friendly, convenient, clean. Would stay again.
- Dominic (10/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Short walk from ferry terminal with easy connections to hiroshima
- Elizabeth (8/5): - The place is very charming. The location is great for walking to town or going to other . The rooms are spacious. Most decor and furniture seems very dated. so for the price, we thought it was a little high. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious. We are also glad they offered coffee at the breakfast.
- Fredrick (6/5): - The staff seem nice but basic expectations were not met. Did not pick-up us ubtik 30 minutes after we arrived although i informed many times. I had to contact expedia to get them to respond. Food and services at hotel were average and slightly below for Japan. The staff was quick to clean up while eating. They seem nervious and wanting people to leave. Limited support on how to prepare and put foos together. I am so disappointed by the experience. It was not worth all we paid
- Nicolas (10/5): - Great stay. Good good!
- Gloryvee (4/5): - The hotel is a traditional japanesse ryokan. Smell bad and the bathroom was dirty. The elevator and the public areas smell bad like humidity. The hotel needs a reimbursement. I don't recommend.
- Terri (10/5): Miyajima Hotel Makato - The Miyajima Hotel Makato was an absolutely excellent experience. Their customer service was the best I have ever seen in my life! They were very helpful with every need and request. I absolutely would stay here again! The only thing I would change was the type of room. Make sure you want to stay in a traditional room if that is what you want. It is what we requested and was so cool. Next time I would stay in a modern room. They were excellent!
- Natalie (8/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Miyajima Hotel Makoto. The traditional rooms are large and well-appointed, however some decor and components are obvoously outdated. There is also a distinctly earthy/broccoli-like smell throughout the hotel, which may bother some people. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming, and helped us with dinner reservations. Overall, we would say this hotel is above-average compared to most of our stays in Japan.
- Miki (10/5): - The workers are very nice and kind. They come to the ferry port anytime when you call to pick us up. The room is very nice too.
- Patrizia (10/5): Amazing hotel in great location - Amazing hotel, amazing dinner.
Room was really big and mats extremelly comfortable.
Location was great.
Onsen was a plus
- David (10/5): - Excellwnt service
- Helen (10/5): - Amazing! Fantastic location, wonderful reception, very atmospheric and traditional Japanese hotel. Highly recommended.
- Karen (10/5): Great hotel - The staff were extremely helpful when we arrived. They let us store our luggage until check in time. The room was very spacious. We chose the Japanese style room. The staff made up the beds while we went out for dinner.
- Amber (10/5): - The Miyajima Hotel Makoto was a lovely stay. The room was traditional and beautiful. The staff extremely welcoming. The area was quiet yet convenient. Would stay again.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Great experience.
Very interesting meals!
Nice onsen
Great service
Interesting artifacts
- Jonathan (10/5): - A little bit away from the shops and other hotels and nested amongst the residential area is this gem of a ryokan. Got the authentic experience of sleeping on Japanese futons and bathing in the public bath. The rooms also had modern. Bathrooms and showers. Fully recommend paying for the attached kaiseki dinner and breakfast, both were amazing experiences. Our favorite was the breakfast miso soup! Can't recommend highly enough!
- Marco (10/5): A full Japanese Expeeience - A full Japanese experience: the hotel is a ryokan located in a quiet street that can be reached in 5 minutes walking from the ferry boat station.
The hotel offer an onsen and the possibility to have a Japanese-style dinner and breakfast, highly recommended.
The rooms are also in traditional style, with tatami floors and futon beds
The staff are extremely kind and helpful.
- Kimberly (10/5): - This place was amazing! We arrived early to the hotel as we had taken the ferry over early in the morning. They were able to store our bags for the day and placed them in our rooms when the room was ready. Someone was at the door of the hotel ready to greet you as you came in. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed in it. We unfortunately did not get to take advantage of the onsen, because we were exhausted after walking so much. The view from our room was amazing, looking out over the roof of the hotel and down on cherry trees, where both birds and deer gathered. At about six pm we had a knock on the door and two gentlemen came and made up our Japanese style beds for us. The only bad thing for us was that we only booked one night here. We would have stayed on the island much longer at at this hotel longer if we had the time.
- Andrew (10/5): - Futon bed on tatami mats with a view over the bay. Onsen hot public bath. The most solid room safe I have ever seen.
Degustation dinner and breakfast. Short uphill walk from ferry terminal.
- Dominic (10/5): Incredible Experience - Incredible. Excellent service, delicious full course Japanese style breakfast, relaxing and clean Onsen. They offered a free shuttle to the Miyajima ferry station when we left, overall a perfect experience, clean, professional, authentic food and Japanese hotel experience.
- Janelle (10/5): Excellent stay - We loved our stay at the hotel. They were very accommodating and even picked up our luggage from the ferry terminal so that we could maximize our time. I highly recommend.
- Clare (10/5): - Lovely traditional Japanese style hotel and room. Friendly staff and great location. Overall a lovely experience.
- Josephine (10/5): - Great Ryokan Japanese hotel close to all the Miyajima places of interest. Good sized room for 2 and could accommodate 4. Made good use of public and private Onsen (hot baths) and fantastic Japanese food beautifully presented at both breakfast and dinner. Hotel staff couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome and make sure you enjoyed your stay - Arigato!
- benny (10/5): - Beautiful and nice
- Melchor (10/5): - This was such a lovely stay. Quiet area, super friendly staff and cozy, spacious rooms! Close to the shopping area and the hikes.
- nyctravelr (6/5): Pleasant and convenient stay - The hotel is a mix of ryokan and standard hotel. It is fairly large (probably 20-30+ rooms per floor), but our room was an extremely spacious traditional tatami room with a separate sitting area. The public bath was clean and reasonably large. The facilities are clean, but feel dated.
Service was very friendly. Check in was fast and easy. They provided us with local maps & recommendations for sightseeing and locations of restaurants serving dinner and breakfast (extremely important since a school group staying at the hotel prevented us from eating there & most restaurants in town close at 5 pm).
Someone would rush to front door to greet us every time we entered, which was very thoughtful. Not sure how good a value, cost just as much as a premium room in Hiroshima or Osaka.
- Andrew (6/5): Grossly over priced - This hotel is grossly over priced for what it is offering. The public rooms are non existent, despite claims. The dining room is large and soulless, with mediocre service. Lighting in the bedroom is poor.
There must be better value places to stay on Makoto island.
- Kenneth (10/5): - This is a lovely quiet hotel/ryokan. Beautiful large room with everything set up for onsen the Japanese bath, which was also delightful.
The staff was very very sweet and helpful.
We didn’t eat at the hotel; there are wonderful restaurants within walking distance.
The hotel is a few hundred meters from the tourist area which is very quiet after 5 pm.
Great place.
- David (8/5): - Très bien. Un coup de coeur pour les bains
- Adrienne (10/5): - Exceeded our expectations. The staff were eager to make the stay as great as possible. Thank you.
- Trey (10/5): - Everything and everyone was outstanding.
- Melissa Shuk Han (10/5): - Friendly staffs with great services. Nice location. Nice view.
- Scott (10/5): - Very attentive staff. Very helpful with shuttle service and dinner plans at the hotel.
- Nicola (8/5): - Traditional hotel, walking distance to main sights. Used the private onsen.
- marta (6/5): - Staff was extremely nice. Price was too high for the state of the hotel . Dinner was a rip off . Too expensive . Not great quality . Japanese style . Public bath nothing special
- Diane (10/5): Friendly, quiet and clean hotel - The staff at this hotel were friendly and very accommodating. The room was clean and had every amenity. The onsen was rejuvenating. Wonderful stay!
- karen (10/5): - Really nice Japanese experience including bamboo mats and futons for sleeping. Public bath was also a good experience and Miyajima is wonderful.
- Cory (10/5): - Fantastic stay and service! Many English speaking staff, hospitality above and beyond. Would stay again in a heartbeat
- Suzie (8/5): - Would have liked the option to dine in and restaurants around closed too early.
- phong (10/5): - Excellent place to explore Myajima ..
- shardlojik (10/5): Charming old school ryokan hotel - Located a few minutes walk from the ferry port and easy walking distance to Itsukushima Shrine and all the shops/restaurants. This was my first time in a ryokan/ryokan style hotel, fortunately I’d done my research and knew what to expect with regard to mealtimes and the facilities.
The hotel is a bit on the old side, but that just added to the charm for me. I was in room 308 which was a Japanese-style single. The main room was very spacious, with a good amount of storage and even a large safe (with an actual key), which I was all very happy about as more modern hotel rooms I stayed in on my trip could not offer the same.
The bathroom had separate rooms for the toilet and shower/bath wetroom and the counter level for the sinks seemed to be a bit low. The room lobby (for want of a better description) has a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. WiFi was fine (not much phone signal), I didn’t use the TV at all. In the cupboard/wardrobe there is a yukata to wear when in the hotel if you wish (which I did in the evenings for dinner).
My booking had breakfast and dinner included, which was taken in a dining room on the second floor. Each room has their own table. No matter the meal it’s a set menu of several courses of what I believe has a lot of locally sourced seafood. To be honest I had no idea what most of it was (even after using Google Translate on the menu) but it’s all part of the fun! I ate everything that was put in front of me and didn’t go hungry.
The hotel also has a sento (public bath) which while par for the course regarding Japan, maybe a bit unusual to a Westerner. Again, I knew what I was letting myself in for (please do your research on the correct etiquette) so I visited to both clean up and relax a bit before dinner.
I found the staff to be very friendly and extremely helpful, with some on the front desk speaking prefect English if your Japanese falls a bit short. One day I had left quite early for the day and came back quite late and was addressed by name on my return to confirm my meal times, which was a nice surprise.
Even though this wasn’t my first choice of hotel in Miyajima and it did take a little bit of adjustment regarding the whole ryokan experience, overall I had a great stay and had a suitably relaxing time. I would happily stay here again if given the option.
- Xavier (10/5): - So happy to have stayed in this hotel. Our Japanese style room was large and comfortable. The staff was also very kind and helpful. We also appreciated the genuine hot bath.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Family vacation. - Everything was perfect! I just wish the checkout was a little later (10am).
- Lourdes (10/5): - Staff was super helpful and friendly. The front desk personnel spoke very good English and would go out of their way to help us if we had concerns or questions. This place hold many great memories of my trip to Japan, and the onsen/hot-spring did wonders for my skin. I hope to become a regular costumer of this hotel in future trips.
- Jason (10/5): - If you are staying on Miyajima, this is the perfect location. Just a few min walk from the dock, and typically there is transportation waiting for guests.
- markhM9237PC (2/5): Severely disappointed - View from room was terrible as previously stated rooms ending in 11 to 15 you are staring at a wall and was passed of as mountain view
To make it worse mechanical services are located right next to rooms ending in 15 so basically sounds like you are on a plane
The so called vice managerHiramschi Minoru was completely useless and would only shift rooms for an additional 4400yen
So disappointed seeing how much this place cost
Would not recommend
- Liliana (10/5): - Will come back
- Drolkar (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at Miyajima Hotel Makato very much.
Upon arrival, we were surprised to learn all shops generally close by 5pm.
Your front desk staff quickly helped to organize breakfast for us the next morning though it was very last minute.
We appreciated that very much.
They even provide transportation to the ferry terminal.
The whole team is always very attentive and ensure we are very looked after, our compliments to them for a job well done !!!
- WAI LING (10/5): - The service of the hotel is perfect, we contact for transfer service on previous day. The staff has waited at the pier on time and left the maps and restaurant information for us, we can continue to enjoy our day in Miyajima directly. There is a girl at reception is able to speak in fluent English, which is very friendly to the foreigners who don’t know Japanese. Just a bit disappointed because the private bath is fully booked on the day and we cannot have it. Miyajima is a very good place and we love it so much. Next time when I come here, I will book this hotel agin and the private bath.
- Phillip (10/5): - Staff very friendly and helpful property well maand clean
- Catherine (8/5): - Japanese style hotel
- Kathleen (10/5): Excellent service - Absolutely wonderful service from the staff. Very quiet location. The public bath was amazing.
- John (6/5): - We had a large room with Tatami mats for sleeping. Unless you are used to them, they are not very comfortable. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant and we had some difficulty finding a place to have dinner lon the (Sunday) evening we were there. Likewise for breakfast the morning after.
- Clare (10/5): - Very friendly. They collected our luggage at the pier.
Gave us wonderful recommendations for dinner. I wish we stayed longer.
- Ashley (10/5): - The staff were exceptionally good and helpful. On one day a staff person walked us through the town to find a particular restaurant and on another day a staff person drove us to the station. In neither case did we ask, but in both cases we were extremely appreciative of the help.
- Yesenia (6/5): - This hotel is on top of a hill and about a 10min walk from the ferry station.
The property is a bit dated and we think way overpriced for what you get. The tatami room we got was spacious but the mats we got to sleep on were awful. It was just as well to sleep on the tatami floor, no one could get comfortable here.
There was also an annoying speaker announcement every morning, not sure what that was about but we heard it clearly in our room and it woke us up.
There is a small gift shop with snacks but not a big selection.
The Onsen is clean and nice, it was the best part of our stay but we would probably stay elsewhere if we came back to the island.
The island is beautiful but be prepared because businesses open late (around 10:30) and close early (around 5pm) so the eating options are very limited. The hotel has an option to include food but we didn’t get it so I can’t say if that’s any good.
We spent $600 per night (5 people) and feel it was not worth it.
- Paul (10/5): - Excellent stay! The staff was welcoming and charming. Our room (501) had views from two sides and we could watch a beautiful sunset. The shower had great water pressure.
Meals were served in a cavernous dining hall (it felt a little like summer camp, you are with your own group) but the food was superb!
Very nice bath. We managed to hit at a quiet time, but one night we decided to go for a walk first and noticed a large number of people heading to the bath, so you may have a different experience.
Staying overnight (we stayed two) in Miyajima is far superior to day-tripping it, and Motoko is a great place to stay
- Peter (10/5): - A great combination of western style with traditional Japanese culture
- Renee (10/5): - Staff was helpful. Stay was fun. Didn’t use there dining services- would consider next time due to limited options available at the time.
- Corey (10/5): Comfortable extended stay on Miyajima - We stayed on Miyajima for a pleasant six days. My wife and I had visited Miyajima for a day many years ago, but we had never been with our children. We imagined a holiday on Miyajima would be a relaxed but exploratory one.
Hotel Makoto is an elegant Japanese resort-style hotel. I took advantage of the sauna in the family bathing space, which can be reserved free-of-charge at the front desk, a space that also features a bath that could fit two adults and two small children together comfortably. Our tatami room was spacious and featured a view of the mountains, the bay, and the five-storied pagoda.
Service at the hotel is exceptional. Staff made every effort to assist in a pleasurable stay. This applies not only reception staff but also to servers at breakfast, who made the effort to provide simple alternatives for our fussy-eater children, and to chauffeur service to and from port.
Perhaps the hotel is not the glossiest option one might find on the island. I happen to like hotels where the history of the place is palpable, so the cosmetic flaws in an otherwise well-maintained lodging hardly bothered me. Since we will certainly be visiting again one day, I hope that the owners give a corner or two a new paint job and consider some new carpet to renew this charming accommodation to its obviously once-opulent state.
A wonderful, memorable stay with sprawling breakfasts, the smell of well-preserved tatami mats, capacious views of Miyajima, and old-fashioned luxury.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - a very nice place to stay, friendly stuff, clean, well maintained property.
- edwardjames2014 (10/5): Welcomed us with a banner! - Leading a group of 28, I stayed at Hotel Makoto for one night. We were welcomed with a special banner and given cold tea and towels on our arrival. Dinner was an exceptional Japanese feast with an incredible range of dishes. Rooms were splendid, Japanese tatami-style and there was another Japanese feast (which was perhaps a little too authentic for some consisting as it did of fish, rice and so on). When we checked out of the hotel they gave us small presents and met us at the ferry pier at our requested time with our luggage. I cannot possibly overstate how welcome they made us feel and how fabulous the service was.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Large room for Japanese hotel. Nice amenities and best location! I would love to come back
- Liz (8/5): Excellent time at Miyajima! - Staff was very friendly. Pick-up and drop-off from and to ferry station was great! Japanese style room was clean an very spacious. Public bath was also huge and enjoyable. No restaurant at hotel, not sure why they advertise food in their website. Walking distance to shops and restaurants, but everything opens around 9 am or later and closes around 5:30 to 6 pm, so a bit stressful to plan your days and meal times.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Affordable ryokan on the island of the gods. - I live in Hiroshima City but we wanted to stay on Miyajima during Kangensai. We chose this place because it still has the authentic ryokan style, but is very affordable (especially being on Miyajima) without sacrificing any beauty, comfort, or service. It’s a short walking distance from the port and a very short walk to the beautiful shrines and temples of the island. The rooms are beautiful and have a lovely bathroom for everyone’s needs. After finding this place, we will stay here more often instead of returning home after a long day on the island!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Miyajima island is a wonderful spot to spend two or three days. Crowded and touristy between 9 and 3 for sure - but outside of those times, quite special. The sika deer are a novelty but where we come from, they are edible rather than cute so was constantly left wondering if someone would miss one. The hotel is nice with good room size and traditional tatami and futon sleeping arrangements. Especially liked the traditional bathhouse. One thing to be aware is that the advertised restaurant does not exist. The staff were quite bemused when I showed them the Expedia advertising of said facility. Not just is there no seafood specialty as described - there is no restaurant at all. That would be fine but be aware that most establishments in the village close shortly after people head back to the mainland on the last (3pm ish) ferry. Still, a few places stay open and offer good food. Les Clos is a class above. Bambino is also good and do a proper but slightly expensive marguerita. Miyajima Brewery was also good. Most other places are fine with the usual fare and many do local oysters. Their treatment of them (steamed, pickled etc) is a travesty for those of us who like our seafood raw and fresh. Have fun.
- Tressa (8/5): Beautiful, be flexible as you sleep on the ground - From a Western perspective futon mattresses on the floor aren't comfortable. I realize that this is normal for the Japanese, but it was hard for me to adjust to. And unless you want a truly different breakfast experience I don't recommend the extra for the included breakfast. Just a heads up!
That being said, the service was amazing. They will meet you at the ferry dock and drive you up the hill to the hotel. The views out of our room were amazing. It was such a treat to be on the island in the evening after all of the day trippers had left. If I had to do it all over again I would still stay at this hotel. It was an experience that I won't forget.
- Kee Keung (8/5): - Very good service, e.g., free shuttle to and from pier to hotel.
- Nathan (8/5): Pleasant stay - Our stay was pleasant. The hotel is dated but clean. The staff was friendly but not extremely accommodating—some of the services were closed. There aren’t bad locations in town.
- daltonbarry (2/5): disappointing - We were really looking forward to our stay, and we had booked many months in advance.
We were given a back room looking at a wall. Smelled of smoke. Food was just okay. Extremely disappointing. Actually, we were kind of shocked, and not just because of the big money we paid.
We travel a lot in Japan.
We have never felt "ripped off" before.
Staff told us the better rooms are booked out years in advance...
I reckon something dodgy is going on.
They took our money on booking, then ga e us a poor room and ordinary food.
Maybe Miyajima has been bitten by the greed bug too hard.
I write this review as a big warning.
Terribly disappointing. What a bummer.
It was our last night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient to the ferry building, the food was good, the room was comfortable and clean and the view was lovely.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The breakfast set up with individual ceramic table grills was very unique and enjoyable. The room was spacious with a porch. Close to center of town. Transportation to the train station was quick and easy.
- GiulioR667 (2/5): Refurbish it! - We've been here during our honeymoon for one night only, luckily. Starting with the positive notes the place is near the ferry piers (5 min walk) and the reception staff is very professional. Only one of them spoke English but that is quite usual in Japan.
We were checked in room 511 and the view was a concrete wall. The problem was the room was unbearably smelly. All the hotel smells as it is an old structure but the room was something else. We asked for another room and the staff moved us immediately.
We spent the evening on the beach and I feared the moment we had to come back to our hotel.
The room is rather dull and poorly decorated. The futon wasn't bad.
I wanted to give two stars but they claim to be 4 star hotel and they fail when compared to another ryokan we've stayed in at Nikko.
We haven't tried the breakfast or the public bath.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel was in a good location. Good breakfast and room was quiet good except the floor can be a bit hard . The staff couldn’t do enough for you. Overall a good stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful location. Excellent staff. Comfortable room.
- O8268SNjohnc (8/5): Avoid the crowds - The best part of Miyajima was after the crowds left and early the next morning. Hotel is just up the hill away from the main street, about a 10 minute walk. Amenities and breakfast good, large room, we chose Japanese style. Enjoyed the onsen. Unlikely to return to Miyajima but happy to recommend Hotel Makoto.
- Sean (10/5): Ryokan style - Lovely hotel with great local atmosphere. They will pick you up at the dock. Good size rooms, fantastic breakfast. The rooms are tatami with futons, so you might find that uncomfortable if you are not used to it
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel, excellent traditional Japanese breakfast.
- marymG2493FF (6/5): Good place - Well located. Quiet and silent. Very clean. Old fashioned style adds a certain charm. Thin futon but allows a good rest. Onsen at the first floor. Japanese style breakfast, very complete but a bit difficult to eat for some western people.
- Odori-chan (8/5): Peaceful stay - We stayed one night at this ryokan and were satisfied with the service offered. The room was clean and comfy though looking a bit old. The decoration of the dining hall could be modernized without necessarily cut the traditional atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast was very good!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good ryokan in Miyajima - You get to sleep on the floor here on really comfortable futons. They also have an onsen (japanese bath) on site, which was nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice location - Hotel is near the main thoroughfare for shopping . Near lots of restaurants and has nice little shop and great food inside the hotel too.
- Jonathan (10/5): Outstanding hotel - We had a wonderful stay in charming Miyajima. The hotel was close to the Gerry and had a free shuttle. The staff was excellent. The room was quite large with a wonderful view of the water. We slept on futons. Highly recommended.
- Theresa A (10/5): - I didn’t use the onsen or have their breakfast but our room was lovely. We could see the Torii from the window. The staff was very helpful. We would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice traditional Ryokan close to everything - This traditiinal Japanese hotel was one of the highlights of our Japan family holuday. It has its own onsen and futons are rolled out on Tatami each evening to sleep. Rooms are spacious for a Ryokan. Staff are lovely, making every little thing easy and no trouble. All in all a fabulous immersive Japanese experience. Wonderful!
- SKH_Sydney (8/5): Value for money - good food and dining experience but basic room - We stayed there for 2 nights including dinner and breakfast. When I entered the room, I was not impressed (but the overall impression changed later). We can see the Great Torii from the balcony, but the rest of the room is relatively basic.
My impression changed during dinner time. First, there are separate rooms for tour groups and individual bookings. So our dining room is relatively quiet. The tables are large and separated from each other at a reasonable distance. They have many people serving the guests. The food is freshly made and of good quality. The dishes are served in 5 to 6 rounds and are different each day.
The breakfast is also of good quality. It is a bit to my surprise that the dishes of the breakfast are served in 5 rounds rather than putting everything on the table at the same time.
The location of the hotel is convenient. They also provide pick-up service at the pier. It is a good choice if you are not too demanding on the room.
- donna28958 (10/5): Stay the night on Miyajima Island! - Miyajima Island was a lovely experience but I can’t recommend highly enough spending the night on the island. Once the last tourist boat leaves, the island becomes calm and tranquil. Go for a wander around the lantern-lit waterfront and marvel at the tori-gate and shrines.
Without the tourists it is fabulous!
The hotel provides you with a map of the available restaurants (as most things close when the tourist boats leave). Had a lovely ramen meal and the boys had fish and chicken.
Our accommodation at Miyajima Hotel Makoto was stunning. Traditional Japanese room, absolutely authentic. We set up our futons early but they had people who come around to do that for you.
TV and wifi were were great for my boys...

- Elinna (10/5): Miyajima Hotel Makoto review - April 2018 - Miyajima Hotel Makoto was spectacular! From station pick-up to the amazing room to the delicious food. This was just an all round fantastic experience. I would definitely stay again. This is a mid range ryokan with a private and public onsen for guests. It was very comfortable and a close walk to the Torii Gate. Staff were very helpful. I would recommend this hotel.
- Michelle (10/5): Perfect location, excellent staff - My husband and I stayed in one of the rooms that could accommodate up to six people. The room was incredibly large (though six adults would be a stretch) and spacious. The staff came in both evenings to set up our futons and set us up with hot water for tea. The hotel and our room were super clean, even if the overall decor was a bit out of date. The spa was included in the price and very relaxing. Yukatas were provided of various sizes in the room. Overall a perfect and reasonably priced ryokan experience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient and clean hotel - My husband and I had a wonderful two-time stay. The hotel staff was very attentive and took care of setting up our futons both nights. They also set up the hot water pot for in-room tea. The hotel is definitely not the most modern ryokan, but it is very clean and tidy. We loved it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful hotel and great staff! - The hotel is a convenient 7 minute walk from the ferry. The staff is very friendly and kind. They let us leave our bags before check in so we could explore the island. The room is spacious and beautiful. While we were at dinner, they even set up our beds for us! They provided comfortable yukatas we could were around the hotel or out and about in Miyajima. The public baths were lovely and open from 6 am- midnight. The only thing they don’t tell you is that you need to have your hotel make reservations for a restaurant for you for dinner. We would consider ourselves lucky to get to visit and stay here again!! It was wonderful!
- ariel_kappon (6/5): Uniq - Large and very clean rooms but the idea to sleep on a futon and not bed does not suit everybody.
We woke up after a terrible night with huge back pain.
The shower room was very very small.
Breakfast was ok. Not too rich, but this is the standard.
No loby services if you want a coffee...
