• rae (8/5): A good value hotel where they evidenced their absolute commitment to client satisfaction - We were using public transport and the hotel is situated conveniently close to the train station. From the outside the hotel is not hugely appealing but once inside, it is light, airy and has various places to sit and enjoy the view. It is full of beautiful antiques and flowers. The bedroom was small but immaculately presented, and the outdoor private terrace extended the space available. The view from the terrace was lovely and the furniture comfortable. For convenience we chose the Half board option, and breakfast was excellent in terms of choice, quantity and quality. Dinner was 3 courses from a limited menu. Although not the highest quality, it was more than sufficient to meet our needs. The outstanding feature of the hotel is the staff. The restaurant, bar, housekeeping, gardener, drivers were all friendly, helpful and welcoming. A particular mention must be made of the reception staff Marco and Ines who went above and beyond to resolve some issues we had with a couple of trips the hotel organised on our behalf. Under the leadership of the Hotel Manager, Claudio, they ensured that the resultant liaison with the excursion agency was undertaken by themselves on our behalf, and responsibility for the issues which had arisen addressed. This resulted in a very positive outcome for ourselves and demonstrated theabsolute commitment of the hotel to their guests satisfaction. We extend our thanks to them. In a popular and expensive part of Italy, we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of Vico Equense and thought the hotel offered good value. The rooms are small but compensated by the terrace and the immaculate cleanliness and presentation.

Direi “vista cespuglio” cerano formiche sui comodini, per terra, la camera era piccola, ci hanno riferito alla reception “ vi diamo la camera migliore”…figuriamoci!! Era zero insonorizzata, si sentiva tutto dalle camere accanto, caos fino a tarda notte, la porta d’ingresso con fessure, si intravedeva la luce del corridoio, corridoio sporco e arredamento tutto vecchio….poi non parliamo della colazione, abbiamo chiesto un cappuccino “la macchina del caffè è rotta!” Niente cappuccino, dolci vecchi e tutto scarso….una delusione totale! Passatemi il termine “una porcheria”

Although it is 4 star hotel but definitely not there - Location is good Here’s a clearer, more polished version of your review while keeping your points strong and credible: ⸻ The overall experience at this facility was very disappointing. On our first night, a loud alarm went off in the middle of the night and continued for a long time. When we tried to call reception, we discovered that the phone in our room was not working at all. We then went down to reception, only to be told that there was an issue with the alarm system and they were unable to turn it off. On our last night, there was no hot water. We were informed that the boiler was broken and would not be fixed until the following morning. As we had to leave early, my children were forced to shower in cold water, which was very uncomfortable. The breakfast was also very poor. There were very limited options, and the same items were served every day. Over the weekend, when the hotel became busier, the quantity of food did not increase. Items would run out quickly and were not replenished, or seemed to be kept aside for “important” guests. Some sausages are simply cut smaller to make it “looks more”. Overall, this was not an acceptable experience, and I would not recommend staying here.

Fast alles: Zimmer zwar frisch renoviert, aber Wasserhahn und Türgriffe 50 Jahre alt, keine Handtuchhaken, keine Ablage im Bad, Terrasse über Tritt durch Fenster, Bett mit uralter Auflage und ohne Bezug. Extrem hellhörig, kann man nicht schlafen, Gang dahinter Tür offen, Durchzug wie in Grönland, Essenssaal laut mit 50 Jahre alten Gardinen, kaputten Tischen und Stühlen, katastrophales Frühstück, mäßiges Abendessen, überall uralte, ekelhafte asiatische Kunst und Vorhänge, total abgenutzte und verrostete Armaturen und Metallmülleimer.... Nach einer Nacht sofort abgereist, absolut untragbar!!!!!! Kann und darf man nicht anbieten.

After a long drive, having to cart your luggage from the car spot on the main road it was difficult. We feel we should have been met outside by a staff member when we arrived. We asked people where and how to get to Reception! You need clear signs pointing to where we could find reception.

A gorgeous view from the terraces to Mount Vesuvius and Naples. Offered a decent choice of foods for breakfast and supplies were replenished often. Plenty of local restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from. The staff were lovely, very friendly and so helpful.
• 03Me (10/5): One of the best hotel experiences we have had. - What a wonderful hotel. My husband and I have just returned from a two week stay and cannot praise this hotel enough. Our room was spacious and kept spotlessly clean. The bed was enormous and comfortable. We had a lovely sea view looking across to the bay of Naples. Our balcony was a bit on the small side but adequate. The breakfast was plentiful and, no matter what time we arrived during the breakfast slot, there was always plenty of choice. Dinner was a la carte and delicious every night. I can highly recommend the risotto! We felt the bottled water we had at the table every evening was a bit pricey, but that's a small complaint. The small private beach is a 10 minute walk downhill from the hotel (there is a shuttle bus provided on request). The attendant at the beach was very friendly and helpful. The train station is just across the road, which was very convenient for getting into Sorrento (15 minutes). We also took the train to Pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculaneum (you need to change trains for Herculaneum). What was exceptional about this hotel was the staff. Everyone, without exception, was so kind, patient, friendly and helpful. The cleaners, the reception staff and the team in the dining room. They all worked so hard to ensure everyone had the best holiday.

• Q8759IGlucyh (10/5): Amazing - We stayed here for the last week of August. It is a beautiful building in an excellent location. It's a two minute walk to the train station, ten minutes to the beach and about five minutes to the main town. It overlooks the sea and mount Vesuvius in the distance. The jacuzzi is available to book for free for 40 minutes at a time but we didn't end up using it as we prefer the beach. Our room was very good and cleaned every day. Our room had a shared balcony with plenty of sun loungers which was also tidied every day. The walk down to the beach is very steep but we didn't end up using the shuttle bus as it's not as bad as you'd think walking back up. The sandy beach was gorgeous with lots of loungers which we took advantage of most days. There's also some reasonably priced bars and cafes close by to keep you hydrated and some clean toilets. The staff are absolutely lovely and very helpful. The breakfast was pretty good, it was a buffet which didn't change but had decent options and lots of nice coffee and juice available. We would definitely stay here again.

Отель находится в бухте , есть бесплатный частный пляж, включены два лежака и зонт, к пляжу 10 минут пешком . У нас был очень хороший и большой трехместный номер ( нас было 2 взрослых и один ребенок 9лет ) . Также была терраса , с видом на море , были лежаки и зонты . В стоимость был включен поход в джакузи, который находился на террасе с видом на море . Нам очень понравилось пребывание в этом отеле , мы даже продлили проживание дополнительно на один день . Здесь мы действительно отдохнули и насладились отдыхом . Ужинали два раза в ресторане при отеле . Персонал в основном был очень доброжелательный, мы чувствовали себя как дома . Спасибо ☺️ Обязательно вернемся ! 😍 Возможно включить на завтрак больше соленной пищи. Еще было не очень приятно , когда нас с ресторана пересадили на терассу при заказе ужина ( якобы этот ужин был из « террасного меню», хотя первый ужин мы выбрали такой же но сидели в общем ресторане . Но это не огорчило наше пребывание, все равно нам все понравилось 😊

• andrewlW7751OR (4/5): Poor qaulity hotel and a few white lies thrown in for good measure. - The hotel Oriente in Vico Equense was advertised as a 4 star "Luxury" Hotel. In my honest opinion it isn't. Whilst it is clean and well air conditioned (Essentially) i t is need of a complete refurbishment. Internally, the reception area is probably the biggest aesthetically poor area as you walk in, with stark reminder of the "Covid" era and the big plastic screens at the small, high desk, felt very unsettling to be honest. The advertisement ( through Love Holidays) states that they have a private beach, this is true but it is less than qaulity, very poor infact and part of a terrace of private beaches. The private beach is down and sharp inclined road and alleyway, Make sure you book the bus back! * people at a time in the wacky races bus on the way back, which is also bookable downwards i may add. The advert also states that towels for guests are available for the beach, they are, but at a charge of £2.50 per day per person! Take your own. I paid an upgrade cost for a luxury 3 bed room, i was so disappointed with it, it was anything but luxury, again clean but just old and poor qaulity fittings. The bathroom.........well, just needed a complete refurbishment, and they didnt supply and glasses in the room, just very flimsy paper cups, i assume this was so you couldn't break them on the tiled floors....? It is built onto ? into a cliff face with no parking at all, even outside on the road, so drop off and collection was interesting to say the least. The staff were great though, no issues at all, friendly, helfull and excellent English.. I feel that the Hotel Oriente is not good value for money.

• marisagD1444GW (10/5): Great hotel to stay in if you want to visit sorrento/ amalfi coast without the extortionate prices - This hotel was perfect for a stay on the Amalfi coast. The hotel is in vico Equense, only a 13 minute train into sorrento (the train station is right outside the hotel) where you can go explore or get other transport from sorrento to positano, Capri and Amalfi. The train also provided easy access to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. Vico equence itself is also a beautiful town which is much less touristy than other places near by with pretty surroundings and has some great options of places to eat and drink.The hotel provides a great buffet style breakfast with some hot food (bacon sausages egg) and plenty of pastries, cereal, pancakes etc and hot drinks and fright juices. The hotel has its own free beach which was amazing as every other beach in vico equence, sorrento or positano you had to pay upwards of £25 for a beach chair but with this hotel it is free. The hotel also provides a shuttle bus to get to and from the beach if needed but it really wasn’t a far walk down (and an incredibly scenic walk). The rooms were very clean with a mini fridge of drinks and some snacks you could buy. Everything about this hotel was amazing for what we wanted (visiting all around the Amalfi coast) and provided a brilliant base for our travels and I would highly recommend and maybe even return to explore more of the beautiful Amalfi coast. Italy itself makes an amazing holiday but this hotel meant that we were fed great in the mornings at breakfast and had easy access to all the other places we wanted to visit.

• Inspire17200923981 (6/5): Holiday - Just back from a 10 day stay in Hotel Oriente. We stayed last year and returned for another stay. While the rooms are spotless and comfortable and location is excellent we have certainly seen a little deterioration in the hotel. The exterior was extremely shabby with equipment thrown on roof terrace. It also needs an upgrade with regard to painting the exterior and general maintenance. The beach was small and some sunbeds were broken and uncomfortable. On one occasion the toilet, which is appalling, was not even working. The breakfasts were not the standard of a 4 star hotel with one bowl of fruit each morning from a tin and pastries with no allergen labelling. The balconies in the rooms were covered with a type of astro turf which were covered in leaves and seeds from the outside trees and were never cleaned. I would be hesitant in recommending this Hotel to anyone in future but I have to commend the professionalism and friendliness of the staff.

• Joannie92 (10/5): The true heart of Italy 🥰 - We had the best time here at the hotel - food, wine, sunsets, private beach and incredible staff: On arrival we were greeted by the lovely receptionist who explained about the hotel and important information. When we got to our room we initially thought that we didn't have a balcony which we'd paid for but once we were shown how to access it we realised we had hit the jackpot and we had an enormous balcony!! Check my photo of the Hotel Oriente, the faux grass balcony was ours!! We went half board and booked with TUI, so continental breakfast buffet and a 5 course evening meal from a set menu. We stayed for a fortnight and ate at the hotel most nights, the menu was varied and during our fortnight stay we noticed that it isn't a set mon-sun menu, there weren't many 'recycled' menu items so there was always something different to try during our stay. We ate out a few nights, in Vico we ate at Cerase and Pizza a Metro, both of which were delicious. The views from the hotel are absolutely beautiful, see my first picture, you can see the main road and a castle(?) at the top of the opposite cliff and then a view all the way down to the beach and the sea. In the evening there are perfect sunsets every night which you can watch from the dining room The private beach was exactly what we wanted - it was small and had an area for the Vico Equense locals who filled out the cove at the weekends, in the week it's quiet. On arrival we were told that you are only permitted 2 x beach visits per week included in your stay, we visited more often than this though. The view from the beach is magnificent - the cliffs enclosed you in the beach area and make a stunning view and then mount Vesuvius is visibly looming over you at all times!! Transportation and tourism is super easy from Vico Equense - the circumvesuviana which runs from Naples to Sorrento via Pompeii is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, and there is a bus terminus outside the station. Usually we pay for excursions with a TUI rep, but they were based in Sorrento and we didn't need a rep to organise any trip, we plannes our own tours including an overnight stay in Rome, spa visit in Sorrento, Pompeii, quad biking up Mount Faito (download Be.IT app). Sorrento port has ferries to Naples, Capri, Positano and Amalfi so these are accessible locations too. Last but certainly not least - the staff at Hotel Oriente made this a holiday to remember. The bar, waitress team and reception staff are a small team and they work exceptionally hard, we had the same 4 team members of bar and waiting staff on shift for breakfast and dinner during our fortnight stay. They work tirelessly and always greeted us with a smile and cheery Buongiorno or Buonasera!! By the end of our holiday, despite limited English and our non existent Italian speaking we could communicate well enough to make friendly conversation and have a laugh with the team!! Hotel Oriente should be extremely proud of these members of staff, they are an asset to the hotel and they made our holiday extra special. We have never returned to the same hotel twice, but we plan on returning to the Hotel Oriente for many of its benefits, the staff being a key reason for our return. Grazie mille 🥰
• Maps58299526471 (10/5): Peaceful and calming , beautiful scenery, friendly staff, - The hotel was very peaceful and welcoming with a beautiful scenery. The room was specious and clean. And felt like home to me. Beds were clean and comfortable. The location was great and train station was only 5 minutes from the hotel. Breakfast was ok but it didn’t present a breakfast in a 4 stars hotel. I would go to this hotel again and I already miss it.
• Clare (8/5): Peaceful and beautiful. - We loved the beautiful views straight down the little valley to the sea and the fact that the hotel was quite quirky with oriental ornaments on display. The birdsong was phenomenal and we also liked that we had a covered balcony, that let the sun in later in the day, so you didn't get burnt. We enjoyed using the jacuzzi and wished we'd booked it more than once. And you've got to try the limoncello spritz - so yum. The staff are all super helpful and friendly - we noticed a big difference both in the hotel and in Vico Equense itself between the attitude of people compared with those in Sorrento. We felt very welcome. The beds were slightly too firm for us, so we didn't sleep well, however that's a matter of personal choice. It would be nice if the bar opened at lunchtime rather than 4pm. But apart from that, we really enjoyed our stay and definitely hope to return in the next few years. Our room 208 was directly opposite the staff room for the chambermaids, so we were often woken at 7am by excited Italian chatter - made for a very authentic experience!

• Andrei (7/5): Hard to park - Location Overall, our stay at the hotel was pleasant. The breakfast was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable. However, there was one specific situation that caused us a lot of stress upon arrival. We were in two cars and had a lot of difficulty finding a place to park. After driving around for nearly an hour, I asked my wife to go into the hotel and start the check-in process to get information about the hotel’s parking. Unfortunately, the staff member on duty that night (an older gentleman) was inflexible and would only provide the parking information after we had presented the documents for all three guests staying in the room, which seemed unnecessary. My wife had our documents, but our friend’s documents were not available at that moment. Still, the staff member refused to tell us where the parking was located. Considering it was late (around 10 PM), and we were exhausted after a five-hour drive, all we wanted was to park and complete the check-in calmly. The requirement to finish the check-in before allowing us access to the parking lot was frustrating and delayed our evening even more. I understand that procedures are important, but I believe more flexibility and understanding from the staff would have made the experience much smoother. This was the only negative aspect of our stay, and we hope that situations like this can be handled better in the future.

Receptions helpful with advise on getting around. Vico nice small town with nice bars and restaurants. Only criticism of the hotel is that if you wanted a drink late afternoon or pre dinner there is no one behind it and the hotel website promotes the bar. You have to wait for someone to come from restaurant . The station was very hand and we travelled by train a lot of days to visit the rest of the Italian coast and cities. Trains are so cheap compared to the UK. Great views from the hotel of the bay and Mount. Vesuvius.

Not a four star, more like a three star. - Location was perfect. 5 minutes walk from local train station that could connect us to all the sites. Breakfast was good and the views wonderful. Economy room was run down and in need of modernisation. Grounds needed maintaining and sweeping. Paint peeling of walls on corridors. No service for tea and coffee in the afternoon or in the rooms. Little choice for evening meal.
• 294clared (6/5): A hotel with potential in need of care, but disappointing at present. - An old hotel that has so much potential but is sadly being neglected. Set into a cliff face with some lovely views, it is ideally located just a five minute walk from the local train station giving you a superb base to explore Pompeii and Sorrento. The room was clean but decoration was not to every ones taste with an array of psychedelic mismatched colours. Definitely in need of an update and a better interior designer. We booked a double economy room, (no executives available) it had a small balcony with a rusty table, noisy air conditioning, large bed and fridge. There was a bathroom with a shower which was over a very old jacuzzi bath that had not been checked or run in a long time. There was no tea/coffee facilities or free water. We were woken every morning very early by the sound of moving furniture. In the corridor outside the paint was blistering and flaking off the walls. The surrounds of the hotel where our room was based could have done with a good clean and were very disappointing. They were obviously not maintained. There were weeks worth of pine needles and dirt on the balconies, steps and sun parasols. Available chairs and tables were rusting, railings in need of painting and tiled areas in need of a good power spray. This spoiled the ambiance and took from what could be a beautiful communal area. The self service breakfast had a good range of nice food, but do not expect Irish sausage, bacon or fried eggs! We did not try the evening meal as it did not provide sufficient choice at the time or value for money. What was a bit surprising was that if you would like a nice tea or coffee with biscuits after a mornings adventure this out of the question as it was not available until the bar opens at 6pm! There is a very small beach, but to get to it you either have to walk down the steep cliff face for 10 minutes and back up or book passage on a shuttle bus (this goes infrequently). The beach is covered in sun loungers and shared with others. Personally, these beaches were not beautiful, especially when compared to the expansive dunes of Waterford or the white sands of east Asia. Vico Equense is in parts very pretty, in others a bit run down. It is described as a quiet town. We did not find this holds true, especially in the evening. It is actually very noisy with traffic constantly on the main thoroughfare and a smell of exhaust fumes. Overall this hotel, with a little effort and care, could be quite spectacular, but at present it is just an average hotel, barely reaching a three star, let alone the four star it states it is!

We stayed in one of the economy rooms, which provided all the essentials: a very comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a television. The breakfast was enjoyable, with particular praise for the pastry selection. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel!
• Lindsay (8/5): The stay and the holiday gave us a complete Italian experience, sights, culture and history. - As we were staying for 10 nights the staff told us that we had been put into a large room so we had more than ample space to spread out and to store our belongings. The breakfast was the complete "continental" style, sufficient to not become repetitive. As with all aspects of the hotel the staff couldn't do enough to meet every requirement. The views across Marina were excellent from nearly every part of the hotel. The Oriente is less than 200 yards from the station that serves the entire Naples to Sorrento area. 15 minutes to Sorrento and 20 to Pompeii, making it an ideal location to visit the busier areas but stay in a quieter town. Quieter, but still offering a vibrant night life with a more than adequate range of restaurants and bars. Our private taxi transfers and the majority of our trips were arranged by the hotel staff, allowing us to fully plan our trip whilst saving us time - these did price match the local businesses. Highly recommended and excellent value for money.

• orbiter1 (10/5): Excellent stay at Oriente hotel - Oriente Hotel (Victoria Equensie) Stayed here for 10 nights. Excellent location with train station a short walk away. Thee hotel has a terrace dining area with views over the bay & mount Vesuvius a changing daily menu with the choice of starter, main & dessert. The food was varied & well presented by Vincenzo & his team. The reception staff & service team were very helpful with everything from travel advice to helping with luggage to our accommodation. Any problems were addressed immediately to our satisfaction. A private part of the beach area is provided for guests with a short transfer & return by the hotels transport. The hotel guest rooms have a private balcony or shared terrace with plenty of loungers, table & chairs most having a nice sea view. Our room had a comfortable bed with great air conditioning & good shower. The room had a TV with limited English channels. Also a small fridge very handy for drinks we acquired from a nearby market shop. I would recommend guest to bring their own small kettle as one isn't provided! Vico Equensie is a nice small town with a good variety of shops, restaurants & ice cream parlour. The train station was fantastic to get to Sorrento or Pompeii & Naples in opposite directions which facilitated us to travel around easily. The train ticket can be purchased in the station or just tap in tap out with cc. Would have no problem recommending this hotel with great food, staff & location.

• Irvine (8/5): Fantastic value for money. Great friendly staff. Great views and outside areas. - I was so pleasantly surprised with this hotel where I took my son to celebrate the end of his exams. We were in an economy twin room and whilst the room was basic, the terrace area outside with a view of the sea more than made up for it. The mattresses were amazing and I could not fault the cleanliness either. The communal areas are really nice too - e.g. the bar area where you overlook the sea. The staff are utterly amazing and a special mention goes to Carmela at Reception who helped me retrieve some lost items due to last minute lateness (my fault) when we checked out. The breakfast was good - perfectly decent, but perhaps the buffet could be replenished a bit more towards the end. If you go to breakfast before 8.30am it is not a problem, however. I never got a chance to visit the private beach as we were too busy. This is a hotel which provides excellent value for money with amazing views of of the sea! It is more or less opposite the train station where you can get trains to Naples and Sorrento, but there is no noise from the trains in the hotel itself. I would definitely recommend and go back. Only minor item would be the breakfast buffet perhaps needing to be replenished after 8.30 am - e.g. I really like melon/fruit for breakfast but the popular fruit was not replaced when it ran out. Overall not a big issue at all

• Leanne (6/5): Clean and fresh vibe , with lots of lovely art - The property was very clean, to a good standard and there was lovely art pieces around the hotel. It was very close to the beach although the beach for the hotel was closed. We were able to use another section of the same beach owned by someone else at a cost. Communication was very limited when we arrived, there was no information about the facilities, where anything was located, how to book the restaurant or menus , no information on wifi codes, or how to access the sun terraces etc. which I think makes a good welcome when you arrive somewhere new. I think it would have been nice to have some information in the room if someone wasn’t able to go through this at the very least. It would have been lovely to have coffee/tea facilities in the room especially as we had a balcony.
