Guest Reviews
- Quinn (2/5): Terrible service has a new name. WYA Point. - We booked our stay on June 20th, 2018 for our stay in August. When we arrived, with our confirmation number from Hotels.com, WYA Point had no record of our reservation. After searching, the receptionist found our reservation, now through Expedia, but they were full. The receptionist sent a message to Jonathon to rectify the situation. We waited for 2 hours for a resolution before we realized WYA Point was not helping. We were given the option to set up our tent in their dog park... Staying in our yurt was going to be the highlight of our vacation, brutal. WYA Point ended up doing nothing, no calls for other reservations, nothing. We had to retreat to Port Alberni for the night. The following day, no resolution, back to Port Alberni. Finally I followed up today with WYA Point to see if they had determined how to compensate us, and they went as far as to tell me they did an internal investigation and determined that is was not their responsibility. Pardon me? You found the reservation, printed out, while we were standing at your front desk, 1000 miles from home. The most disgusting service I have ever received at a hotel. Shame on you WYA Point. Shame on you.
- Michael (6/5): - The poor location of the checkin relative to the resort was frustrating. The possibility of contaminated drinking water made it tough as every cup of it had to be boiled. No one wanted to use the water to bath even. Great location otherwise as the view could not be beaten.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Magnificent place - Cabins are amazing, overall experience is wonderful. The only downfall is that hotel staff didn’t provide proper payment info in advance and they misguided us about that and charged extra $100 upon check-in even though they sent us receipt with fewer amount beforehand.
- Wayne (10/5): LOCATION, LOCATION - Location, location, right on the ocean, waves crashing all day and night, wildlife, we saw a seal, a bear and a wolf, immaculate, high end bedding and towels, friendly staff, large view windows, deck, very poor Internet/WiFi was the only negative and an upgrade would be a benefit in all ways. There doesn't seem to be any availability on Hotels web site, impossible to rebook!
- Joan (8/5): - The only fixing needed is a few good seats and a table on the deck.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - fantastic!! the view breathtaking...the Pacific is on your doorstep, so is a little mink, and the sound is a continuous wave pounding symphony! no wonder they film movies and tv at wya point!
- Andrea (10/5): Comfort right in nature - The draw of the yurts are to have the pleasure of waking up right next to the ocean with a little more comfort and warmth. The yurts are ideal for mid-season stays in Pacific Rim when it’s just too cold to camp, as they have a propane stove. They also have a BBQ, plates and warm, comfortable bedding.
If you’re expecting luxury, you may be a little disappointed, but if you actually take the time to read the Wya Point website or the yurt descriptions, you will know exactly what to expect.
Waking up right next to the ocean in a warm, comfortable bed it unbeatable. The private beach is very special and the rocks are a great place to watch the sunset. This was our second time here and we’d love to make it a yearly tradition.
The lodges are also really beautiful, but there is something magical with the yurt, feeling so close to a nature.
- Coco (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay at Wya Point Resort. It was truly magical.
The only thing that was a bit frustrating was that the kitchen was extremely basic and made it a bit hard to cook. There were also many things broken in the kitchen. If you plan on cooking, I would bring some of your own wares.
Other than that, it was beautiful! We will definitely be back :)
- Bill (10/5): Cozy, plush yurt right on the water. - My girlfriend and I had a fantastic experience staying in the yurts at Wya point. It was back to nature at its finest. There was everything there for a winter retreat. We could walk the shoreline or just bundle up and hang out in our cozy propane heated tent. Can’t wait to return, hopefully in the summer, for another adventure.
- Rita (10/5): Beautiful location and comfortable - We stayed in the small yurt for 2 nights, and absolutely loved staying here. After a day out hiking, visiting beaches and getting exhausted in the February rain, we were so pleased to come back to a cozy yurt with a warm fire and comfortable futon bed. We brought some homemade soup from and were able to easily cook this inside on a pot on the fireplace. I would definitely stay here again. It was wonderful to disconnect and be by the waves. The yurt comes with blankets and pillows, but we brought some from home. The drive down the windy path was totally safe, even in pitch black with the rain pouring. I loved every minute being here. Bathroom facilities are a short walk across the way. They were clean and no problem to access in the dark with a flashlight.
- Joshua (10/5): Best place ever! - Absolutely beautiful view and very clean chalet. Warm, cozy and romantic! Even if it is raining and storming, it only adds to the beauty of the place.
- amanda (10/5): Our third stay - still love it - This was our third stay at Wya Point and we still in love with the beautiful location. The chalets are well equipped with incredible views of the crashing waves. Perfect place for storm watching, beach combing and exploring the many trails around Ucluelet. Anyone who's concerned about the road should know it has improved and we made it in our Yaris no problem. I only wish I was aware the resort no longer provides clean drinking water, as we would have brought some. They used to provide a water cooler but it seems they no longer do. Not a big deal for us, we boiled and refrigerated our own. It won't stop us from booking our forth stay!! See you soon Wya <3
- BRIAN (6/5): Customer Service - Customer service at this location was terrible. We got in around 7pm, picked up keys. Got to the Yurt, lights did not work outside. No idea how the lights worked or the furnace. Called maintenance no response. Finally figured out how to turn the lights on using with battery, and how to light the furnace. Since it was already dark, had to use the lights on the vehicle. The last night we got in late, battery was used up and had not been replaced. So again no lights. Again called maintenance and surprise, no response. The price paid for this Yurt, someone should have at least stopped in to see that we had heat and lights. Very beautiful area, but customer service was no where to be found. Would probably not stay here again.
- Michael (8/5): - We stayed in a yurt at the Wya Point property. The yurt was comfortable with a double bed and a cozy propane fireplace. The location of the yurts is right next to the beach with many rugged rock outcroppings and the steady pacific swells smashing against the rocks making for beautiful sights and sounds even on calm wind days. The toilets and showers are somewhat central on the yurt portion of the property with 8 private rooms available.
- Franca (10/5): - Love this place. Right on the beach and very clean
- Zita (10/5): Wonderful stay in a yurt close to the ocean - We were very happy staying at Wya Point Resort with our Swiss friends. It was a wonderful experience staying in a Yurt. Listening to the ocean at night made it even more special. Everything was clean. We started the wood stove in the evening after a day of hiking. Kindling was ready by the door before we returned to the Yurt. We had mentioned to the staff at the office we were going to light the stove. Excellent service.
- Evelyn (10/5): Impressive - We stayed at one of the Lodges. The lodge was roomy, spotless, wood design, nice view of the ocean from the balcony as well as short walk to the beach. Nice small private bay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had a great stay- we stayed for two nights and it was a great blend of camping and being outdoors, and yet and the benefit of warmth and big dry shelters during the night. The views were great and the sound of the ocean is always nice to hear.
- Jamie (4/5): Great location. Missing the essentials. - Good - The location is hands down one of the best we have ever stayed at. The yurt's are right on the beach and campfires are amazing.
Bad - Drinking water has to be purchased. The showers are questionable and some don't have hot water. No fridge in the yurt. Futon, not a real bed. The gravel road drive in to Wya point is long and bumpy, it becomes annoying if you are going back and forth to town.
Overall, the place will be great if you are expecting a camping experience. We were on our honeymoon and expected more of a hotel situation.
- Verified traveler (10/5): West Coast Hide Away - Staying in a yurt at Wya Point Resort is such great way to get away from it all and experience the Vancouver Island Pacific Rim region. I had a beach to myself, felt asleep to the sound of the waves crashing, and was tucked away in the rain forest at night. Amazing!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Brilliant!! - Enjoyed everything about Wya. The lodge had everything I needed for a break from the city... stunning views and a whole lot of peace and quiet. Back next year for sure
- Michael (8/5): Nice if you're rich - There was a problem with their water system upgrade for the yurts, so they gave me a lodge instead. I don't know how much they charge for the cabins, but mine was very nice. Well built, romantic, and a nice view of the small bay and the Pacific beyond. The first day I found the unit cold and had to fire up the propane fire. The floor heat wasn't working or it took a while to heat up.
The gravel driveway to the lodges was about a 7 minute drive and was bumpy with potholes. It looked like they were filling them in at the time.
There was a dirty towel on the upstairs bathroom floor and one of the kitchen cupboards had dirty linen stuffed into it. I guess they had to quickly make it acceptable for my move from the yurt.
The pots needed replacing and there was a boil water alert.
Overall it was a wonderful experience, however if the yurts costed a whopping 150 a night, then the lodges would be way out of my budget. I will probably not return.
- sabine (10/5): - Every night we could hear the ocean
Spectactular sundown
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great cabin right on the beach - I would highly recommend Wya Point Resort. Great accommodations, friendly, helpful staff. It's right on the beach! Doesn't get better than that!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous views of ocean - Fabulous views right from the large windows. Upper windows need cleaning though. Chalet even smells like the Cedar trees. Easy access to beach. Roaring waves to listen to day and night. Kitchen has all you need. It was such a comfort to have the gas stove to crank the heat instantly when needed as this is still the West Coast. We will return in a heartbeat.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Incredible, most suprely awesome views, awesome! - The cabin was incredible! The asthetics, cleanliness, views, staff, everything was great!
- Tom (10/5): Perfect place to go to relax - If you need to get away and just unwind this is the perfect place! It was so relaxing to get away from technology for a whIle and just relax. The only down side is the rough dirt road to get into the cabins.
- Verified traveler (10/5): hidden treasure - Unreal experience for the price. although I assume the peak rates would be quite a bit higher. beautiful atmosphere and secluded. The chalets aren't fancy but they are quite comfortable and the views are breathtaking. would recommend taking a truck or SUV into the resort gravel road is a little sketchy one lane but has a lot off pull-outs for passing vehicles.
- Danielle (10/5): Truly Amazing!! - I can't really add much that hasn't been covered in all the other 5 star reviews. I think the backhoe was being repaired when I left, so the potholes could be filled on the road in off the highway. I'm booking a trip back this summer!!
- Dawn (10/5): - It was amazing!
- ben (8/5): Beautiful setting - We enjoyed our stay. Very quiet and relaxing with a beautiful view of beach. Only real complaint is with staff. Poor reception at checkin and when we asked housekeeping for more water (because you can't drink the tap water) they said they would have it delivered but when we came back to our place in the evening, no water.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Beach View Value - The cabins we stayed in were right on the beach and great value for the area. We were able to have a campfire right on the beach as well. These cabins are quite a ways off of the highway so you do not have any traffic noise. The road in is gravel and a bit narrow but they have placed humorous signs along the way to help you find your cabin. We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great lodge by the sea! Amazing views! We were four and we had a great time.
This lodge would be more comfortable if it had more basic amenities in the kitchen (only had four plates, old pans, no hand soap, etc). There were no brooms or equipment to clean as well.
- David (10/5): Stunning seascapes in a romantic and luxury space - It couldn't have been more beautiful or accommodating. The registration process is a little different as you register away from the property - but our hosts couldn't have been more kind and accommodating. A wonderful place where we intend to escape to more often.
- Shawn (8/5): Glamping - The Yurts at Wya Point were clean, well maintained and attractively close to the beach. Went not knowing what to expect and what pleasantly surprised.
- Riasat (8/5): Excellent view, nicer lodges - The view is amazing from the lodges. Room was cozy.
Expedia should remove the photos of the lodges those (Thunderbird or Raven lodge) are not bookable through expedia. They are bigger and more beautiful but you can get only the salmon or eagle lodge from expedia though they are advertising the bigger lodges.
- Robyn (10/5): Wya Point Resort Yurting - Our stay in a yurt at Wya Point Resort was amazing. Nestled right up next to the private beach, we fell asleep each night to the sound of the winter waves and the offshore seals if you listened carefully enough. The yurt itself was spacious (two person yurt, with the double futon) comfortable and clean, and everything we needed (linens, cutlery, cookware) was provided. The gas stove provided more than enough warmth that even in March we were toasty inside. Going so early in the season afforded us tons of privacy, as there were very few (if any) other yurting guests. Can't wait to return in the warmer months to experience Wya Point in the summer!
- Sarah (10/5): Amazing getaway if you want to relax and unplug - Gorgeous location, beautiful lodges, tons of privacy and a really wonderful way to relax. Listening to the waves crash on the beach all night was amazing and the deck has great views.
- sarah (10/5): Gem on the Pacific - This place is magical! This is my third stay and the experience keeps getting better and better. This is a perfect gem on the Pacific! Thank you Wya Point!
- Alyssa (10/5): - We loved the lodge, absolutely beautiful view, couldn't ask for better one. Only suggestion to the resort would be to have window cleaners in on a regular basis as the view would have been much better when sitting in lodge. Otherwise super friendly staff who were super accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Worth the long trip getting there. - Cozy and amazing. Simple, yet elegant. Artistic, with breath taking views.
- lisa (10/5): Luxury in the pacific wild west - This place is a very rare chance to stay in a beautiful old growth forest right on a beautiful beach with waves crashing on the rock and a nice sandy beach too. Sunsets, wildlife(forest and sea). The weather is exciting. Sun, rain, wind all in one day. The lodges are new and very clean. Vast forest AND ocean views from Kitchen, living room, loft bedroom.(every angle). A large deck over the water next to huge trees. Great bedding, extra blankets, quality towels. Really nice gas fireplace. You can hear the waves at night. The design of the building are gorgeous with cedar everywhere. For a couple, this is very romantic and for a family of 4 this is so great. Kitchen has everything you need.(Two bathrooms!) It has a real luxury feel. The staff really make you feel welcome not just like another customer. Just ask. I know this area well and this is top notch. I didn't want to go to bed because I didn't want to miss something. Wow.
- Anita (10/5): Away from it all. - Had a lovely relaxing time. The place was very comfortable and the fire made it cozy and warm. The view was amazing and the small beach area was only a few steps away. Would definitely stay there again.
Cannot use the tap water for cooking or drinking but fresh water supplied daily.
- Jon (10/5): Great off the grid stay! - Amazing off the grid experience!Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - great location, private beach.Spent 2 nights there and thoroughly enjoyed our stay
- CJ (8/5): Lodge #1 - amazing location - What a beautiful spot! The location is phenomenal, the lodge amazing and the staff are friendly and helpful. No TV or radio and not missed at all. Climbing the rocks, walking on the beach and campfires are the better alternative! Will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic, quiet property right on the beach. It is a bit difficult to find keys as there is no reception, so clarify with managemenet in advance.
- Leslie (8/5): Wya Pointe is worthy of a return visit! - A truly breathtaking view from our lodge. Nice private beach.
- Frank (10/5): Your own cabin on beach - 3 night stay - awesome location/view
Remote location. Road in is somewhat treacherous- narrow/potholes. But worth it in the end.
Staff very friendly, helpful
- Ry (8/5): I'm completely speechless!! - This resort was the most perfect experience we could have ever hoped for! Only 9 log cabins were on this stretch of a private beach in its own cove. Just a small path away from the pristine beach. All night long you can hear the waves crashing against the beach, and in the morning the seal lions on the island straight ahead making their chatter was such a dream come true! Of the 9 cabins we only saw two other groups here. We only stayed one night because of their availability and didn't want to leave!
The place has everything and more than you can ask for! An amazing view any time of day, a BBQ on the deck for cooking, heated concrete polished floors, luxurious furnishings, native art/style with a mega dose of west coast luxury perfectly melded with rustic charm!
Although there is no TV, the WIFI was the best I have ever had in a resort! We all love to check in, post pictures and stay connected and having that made a huge difference. This place doesn't need a TV, if you want a TV you may not enjoy this place.
The town of Uclulet is quite small. There's a grocery store, a couple coffee shops and restuarants and not a whole lot else. This is the sort of place you fill up on supplies, hunker down for your stay and get lost in wildness and luxury! There's almost no reason to leave this place.
We didn't realize that we had to pick up our key far from the resort. The office was 8 km away just at the junction at the highway.
