We showed them our paper work and verification JYUK3Q and they said they didn't have a room for us. We didn't like they didn't have our reservation.

- Anitilose (6/5): ok - The history of the property is really special, and I loved the unique details throughout the hotel. The lobby area was beautiful, and the rooftop was especially nice—it was a great spot to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. We had a mixed experience during our stay. Unfortunately, cleanliness was an issue, there was an area behind the toilet that had not been cleaned, and we found hair in the blankets stored in the closet. I understand that some wear and staining can happen across properties, but basic cleanliness is very important. The service also varied. The two young ladies at the front desk were quite short with us and didn’t come across as welcoming, which impacted our overall experience. However, the older woman who assisted us during checkout was very kind and pleasant, and we appreciated her hospitality. This hotel has such a rich history and charm, and with improved attention to cleanliness and more consistent customer service, it could truly provide a much better guest experience.

- Richard (9/5): Clean, comfortable and friendly stay at a classic hotel - I always enjoy staying here. It's a clean and reasonably well-maintained old hotel. Douglas is a friendly and very walkable town, and the hotel is in the heart of it. The desk clerks and cleaning people are attentive and friendly. The bar and restaurant staff go out of their way. I appreciated the complimentary k-cup coffee machine in the hall, for a decent cup of coffee whenever. The wifi is fast and reliable. There are so many places to spend time in the hotel other than the room: There's a great patio with plenty of shaded seating and tables overlooking Douglas' main street. There's a beautiful and welcoming lobby with plenty of seating. The bar has a tap room feel and it's just as popular with locals as guests. The dining room is also obviously popular with locals. The Gadsen is an all-around great value. This is minor, but tap water in the hotel tastes like what you would expect from an old building. It would have been great if the hotel provided options other than the small, wasteful bottles of water available at the desk. Maybe provide a gallon of water in the rooms, make gallon bottles of water available for purchase, or place a water cooler in the hall?

Clean, comfortable and friendly stay in a reasonably well maintained classic hotel in the heart of walkable Douglas. Desk, cleaning, bar and restaurant staff all go the extra mile. The tap water tastes as you'd expect from an old building. Bring a gallon of water if you don't want to buy small bottles at the desk.

- A Wilderness Retreat (4/5): Nice place-VERY EXPENSIVE, desperately needs a plumber!! - Beautiful surroundings-Marble and hardwood everywhere! Much interesting history! Shower KNOB WAS STRIPPED, and had been that way for some time! Phone to the desk would not work so had to get dressed and go downstairs to speak to anyone! Water would NOT WARM UP (ice cold) for as long as 20 minutes of steady running! I liked the old building charm and the old elevator Couldn’t give any r enumeration because it was booked through Bookings!? I questioned that!??
- Joachim (5/5): Tolles Hotel in schlechtem Zustand - Das Hotel ist ein altes Grand Hotel und völlig anders als andere amerikanische Hotels mit einer großen Empfangshalle, einer großen Treppe, Säulen, Stuck, Bleiglasfenstern… Das Hotel braucht dringend eine grundlegende Renovierung, denn aufgrund des Alters des Hotels ist vieles in einen sehr schlechten Zustand. So fallen z.B. die Fensterscheiben fast aus den verrotteten Rahmen. Einen Schallschutz in den Räumen zur Hauptstraße hin gibt es nicht.

Mais en même temps, ça fait très bien son travail d'hôtel et de restaurant! Nous sommes extrêmement contents d'y avoir séjourné. Personnel efficace et sympathique. J'ai tout apprécié ! Attention....ça n'a rien à voir avec l'hôtel, mais c'est la frontière....mon smartphone s'est connecté automatiquement à une antenne mexicaine.... pour laquelle je n'avais pas de pass. Coût 60€, et forfait bloqué. Vite réglé avec Orange. Ils me remboursent et demandent en zone frontalière de se mettre en mode avion.

Wonderful second floor patio overlooking the main street and perfect for watching the Christmas parade. No counter space in bathroom, glass shelves falling off the wall. - ken (8/5): - Grand old hotel in the southwest. Stayed in the governors suite and it is very tired. Totally shut down on Sunday morning. No breakfast, no coffee. Never had that experience at a major hotel before.
- Jimbjimb (1/5): Doors between hotel rooms don't lock! Very unsafe. Staff didn't care or address. - I booked a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen, living room, a bedroom with 2 beds, and 2 baths for my family. The room I was given only had one bed and one bath. When I showed my reservation to the staff, they were dismissive of me and said it was Booking.com's problem. More importantly, the door between my room and the next room did not lock. I opened it and it went into my neighbors occupied room. The photo is from inside my room looking at someone else's stuff in their room! I told the staff and they said they would address, but the next afternoon it was still not addressed. I went to the front desk, but they were dismissive again so we checked out a day early as it was completely shady and unsafe.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is a beautiful historic landmark that drew our attention. But sadly, the room was lacking in a number of basic comfort and needs. The junior single room is basically a room with a double bed, and a small extra space in the front of the room with a futon type chaise couch. The bed was not very comfortable, the window AC unit roared loudly throughout the night, but never cooled the front part of the room properly. My friend slept on the futon couch in the front and it was hot, as well as the couch was old and he had springs on his back all night. The ceiling fan clacked loudly and was dusty. It appeared that where the hand soap dispenser was supposed to be by the sink, there was conditioner instead. And they had simply put out a bottle of dial hand soap that was 75% empty to use. The TV also did not work. Overall, it was a great historic site but not a place I’d recommend staying at for 100$/night.

This hotel should not only close their doors, they should also read up on service animals in Arizona and under the ADA. The Motel 6 a few streets down had better staff, cleaner room, and updated amenities. As well as education on service animals.

- Levi (2/5): - The employee named Renee got very verbal and ghetto and wanted to fight outside but then chickened out for some reason and was just very unprofessional and I could tell the other girls there were concerned for his behavior. He was slamming his fists on the counter and this all happened on June 12th 2025. Management should fire him because of all the shouting and pillow talk he was doing which doesn't look good on the company. All this could be verified by footage if there's any cameras. I do not recommend anyone stay here if anything they should go somewhere else because as long as Renee works there he will shout and throw a hissy fit. It may annoy you. Never have I seen an adult looking trans man throw such a tantrum over nothing. He needs to be investigated and fired.

The hotel staff were super helpful, kind, and friendly. We had arrived earlier than checkin, and called to see if our room was ready. The answer was no, but when it did become available, we received a call back. We totally appreciated the staff going out of their way to assist us in that manner.

- FABIOLA (10/5): - We love to stay here every time we come to Douglas. Only bad thing was restaurant was closed. We pick this hotel because of a restaurant and bar inside.
- Jose (8/5): Very good - Wonderful staff, very clean and spacious rooms. Great breakfast at Cafe 333. No shower water pressure at all and pillows were very hard to sleep on. Other than that, it was wonderful.

- Theodore (8/5): - The Gadsden Hotel in Douglas, AZ is a step back in time in the best way. Locals say it’s haunted, and honestly, I can see why, it’s got that classic, mysterious charm. The marble staircase (chipped by Pancho Villa’s horse, no less), tall columns, golden accents, and stained glass make the place feel like a preserved piece of early 1900s luxury. Our room was surprisingly spacious, it had a separate “living room” area, two TVs, and plenty of room to relax. It’s been recently redecorated, which was nice, though it was missing a coffee maker and the carpet had a wrinkle that my son tripped over. Small thing, but worth noting. Also, the deadbolt only locked about a quarter inch, so if you’re big on high-security, that might be a flag. No weird smells, no noise complaints, it was peaceful and well-kept overall. There’s a newer hotel in Douglas, Arizona, but for literally half the cost, this one gives you way more personality and a dose of local history. If you're into unique stays that tell a story, The Gadsden is a great choice. I’d stay here again for sure. Douglas, Arizona is a dying town this hotel may not survive for much longer.

Restaurant is excellent and very reasonable Our lovely 2 queen room was on the street side and could have been a quieter location. Some street noise in the morning
- Tracey (10/5): - Fatima? was Sooooo friendly and helpful with everything. Also, the bartender was awesome as well. Mind - there is not much to do in town, but The New Warehouse - is a super cool bar you can walk to with an awesome owner trying to revitalize the town.

- Greg j (10/5): - That area of Douglas is being rebuilt, so there are a lot of empty buildings, but the area seems clean and safe. Thankfully the Gadsden has a nice restaurant and a nice bar so you don't need to go anywhere else. Hotel is beautiful inside and has many items from its past from the mining and business concerns from the late 1800s and early 1900s
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful early 20th century hotel, with all the elegance of its glory years and all the amenities we've come to expect. Great service, quiet, comfortable with a restaurant and bar on site (closed Sun/Mon). Beautiful terrace to sit and relax. If we really need to complain - the pillows were like oversized rocks.

- Russell (7/5): Don’t stay on a Sunday or Monday if you want to enjoy all that the hotel has to offer - The interior of the hotel was absolutely beautiful. Massive stone columns and huge open lobby take you back to the heyday of silver and copper mining where new fortunes were made on an almost daily basis. The reason I'm not giving it a 10 is, unbeknownst to us, everything except the front desk was closed for the entire weekend. It was Easter weekend and there was no notification that the in-house restaurant, tavern, coffee shop etc, would be closed on Saturday for the holiday. And I guess I missed the part that said they are always closed on Sunday and Monday. I was really looking forward to eating and drinking on premises in the historic atmosphere. All told, I would definitely like to stay there when they are fully open. About the only thing I can even comment about not being too my liking is the bathroom in the room. I know it an old building, but have human beings increased in size dramatically since the hotel was built? It was incredibly small. You were also required, as per the directions, to run the hot water for at least 10 minutes to get get hot water. Then it kept getting hotter and hotter during my shower and it was almost impossible to cool it down. After having hot water, you had to run it almost as long to get cold water again! I hope they have some way to reclaim that much wasted water.
