- aisha (9/5): Must stay longer for those who like to hike and climb up the mountain of Kinabalu. Beautiful view! - The most thing I am fond of this place is the majestic scenery and the comfortable space for my family to have some bonding time together. The halal food servings adds on our preference for this hotel. The toilet pipe needs to be repaired as it needs to be constantly turn on and off as soo much water running down to the floor.
- Pn.Aishah (8/5): MOUNTAIN VIEQ SUPERB!... - Environment and view of the mountain so fab'lous, amazing , great. Toilet not comfort. furniture so old... the fan so fast even power on first make room too cold...
- Miew Choon (6/5): - Food Garden tree need treatment, at night more lighting, building need look fresh
- Said (9/5): Excellent - Very good view n fresh air.
- Clain (10/5): -
- Qay (8/5): - -very quick & convenient check in/out
-very best view of the peak of the Mt. Kinabalu from our room balcony
-breakfast was good esp. the fried sweet potato
Overall we has a very nice and pleasant stay.. -while we were chilling at the balcony enjoying our coffee time.. there's about 3-4 dogs went to our balcony area also to our next door neighbour balcony.. because there was no gate or any barrier or like wall to block the dogs from entering customer balcony area..
(we were not surprised because already mentioned by the receptionist during our check in to bare in mind to put our shoes/slipper inside our room just to avoids from being taken away by the dogs)
It's just that we felt uncomfortable with the present of the groups of dogs.. during our time at the balcony.
-also the bbq area was not well maintain the maintenance.. some of the woods and chair are broken.. the table also got lots of bird pop.
-road to the resort too rocky and steep.

- Fathiah (9/5): It’s a great stay - The view of mount kinabalu is worth the stay! The pillow sheets had unpleasant smell but they came instantly to change when I notified them
- Ayu Natasha Misiran (9/5): - Pemandangan cantik,Bilik selesa Dan bersih.. Tempat jauh 🤭
Jalan agak teruk..
- Nor Aida (6/5): -
- Mohammad Zulfikar (9/5): - The view was awesome. Stray dog in the area
- Rilaini (5/5): - We had the.mountain view from our room on the second floor. It was very far from.shops and if you do not drive, it would be hard to get around as and when you like. There was no toiletries provided and on one of the days in the morning, there was no water supply to the toilets and shower.
It was during peak holiday season and the price was not value for money.
- Ayu Natasha Misiran (10/5): - Semua okeh..harga Bilik berbaloi..staff baik.. Tempat sangat jauh ke dalam dan jalan agak teruk..
- Jasten65 (7/5): - The views facing mount nabalu so amazing Facility like bedroom not good in condition, must change a new one, feeling not safe to sleep well, the prizes quit high not worth for it
- Jo (10/5): -
- Velan (3/5): - - - The off road driving, old fittings and furniture, need an immediate upgrade, breakfast was so-so
- Cynthia (7/5): - The view was excellent Please upgrade the television and very poor cellular network yet no wifi provided in room.
- Jeana Binti (8/5): Relaxing - Nice view, delicious foods, friendly staff, enough space room Location bit far and gravel road
- COLRIDIMA (9/5): - View gunung Kinabalu depan mata saja, bangun pagi dengan pemandangan gunung.
- Dayang Nur Asiah Hayati (10/5): -
- sathiaselan (2/5): Very far from the main road with 2.3 km of gravel road. - Almost none. The resort is 2.3 km from the main road. Gravel roads and suitable for 4WD.
Mattress are too old.
Breakfast very limited.
Hot water tanks are very small and takes time to heat up the water.
- munzir (8/5): - Most of it are great, food, staff, view Probably the comforter not that comfortable. Tv has no audio. And the road to go there, its not well maintain.
- Robert Tason (6/5): Stay at Celyn Resort - The view of Mount Kinabalu from the Resort. The rooms need an upgrade, the bathroom is too dim. The WC when flush smells bad especially at my daughter's room. We had to ask for a change of Pillow and bedsheet ask it had a bad odour. Overall the place needs an upgrade.
- Siti Zanariah (9/5): -
- Jin Hoong (6/5): Nice atmosphere but not very comfortable - The view, staff and the animals on the ground. The toilet had an unpleasant smell, and the room felt insecure since the only entrance was through the balcony door. The breakfast options were very limited and didn’t taste good. Additionally, the road leading to the hotel was in poor condition — rough and full of rocks, making access difficult.
- Syahirul (8/5): -
- Yuliana (8/5): - Breakfast sedap
- Fiza (8/5): -
- Nizwan (10/5): -
- Andrew (1/5): - I pay but nver stay enter the room only the 5 minutes I checked out, the room smelly and water is dirty.
V02 room number
- Aisha (6/5): - This property is so run down physically, pictures on the website are so deceiving. Spring in bed is so bad, wooden floor creaks, you will keep waking up if you are light sleeper with any movement in bed or across the room. The stench from the toilet is awful if you forget to close the door. Hot water runs out, so you better shower fast. Staff are friendly and accommodating though and the breath taking view of the mountain from your room makes the stay here worthwhile. The management needs to upgrade this hotel as another fellow guest mentioned that this establishment is the same since 16 years ago. If it’s not for the view, I would have checked out and changed hotels.
- RAJA AMRAH MAZURA RAJA AMAN (6/5): - Driving to the resort is a challenge. It is not a normal tar road.. uneven dirt road with lots of rocks.
The staff got our booking mixed up in the beginning and wanted to give us a different room with lower price . After insisting, manage to get the correct room type.
Room cleanliness is acceptable but the bathroom is smelly and very dirty.
The steamboat we ordered for dinner was good and the staff at the cafe was nice.
- Evelyn (6/5): - The bathroom was with ants and felt unclean. Breakfast is basic - fried noodle, rice, fruits and juice/coffee/tea. When told there was no watermelon left in the breakfast, staff told me they need to 'cook' it - staff was not attentive. The only plus of this hotel is the view of the mountain.
- Lay Nah (8/5): - The view is superb. Very direct magnificent view of Mount Kinabalu. But the aceess into the resort (2km) is not proper tar road. The room is basic with all the necessary amenities and clean. Comfortable stay.
The staff is friendly & helpful. They are very oblige to all your needs /request. Thank you.
- polar (4/5): - We booked kinabalu wing & the view simply amazing. Apart from this, the property is old & lack of maintenance. Bulbs not working, mosquito mesh broken, stains on bedsheet, tv channels not working well. and No wifi (wifi only available at lobby which is a distance from hotel room). The property seriously need some refurbish / upgrading works.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic view
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Spacious room. Friendly staff. Very quiet environment.
- AISHAH (8/5): Location is good..condition is bad - 3km bad road condition to premise. View is beautiful. The building and premise -rundown, not as shown on Hotels.com. Poor management. Room is dated-Old dingy furniture. Bidet pressure too strong, cant control. Bathmat is bad.Restaurant- minimal choice of breakfast. Menu not tasty. Many stray dogs-unhygienic. Staffs- friendly and helpful, that made our stay a pleasant one. Strategic location to places of interest.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Disappointed with the road.
- HN (4/5): - Isolated hotel far from the main road. The small road leading to the hotel is about 2.3km long
and is unpaved. We stayed in two Jungle Mountain rooms next to each other. The rooms were big but need some maintenance work. The door locks were faulty. The bathroom in one of the rooms had drainage issue resulting in wet floor all the time and it smelled badly.
The staffs were friendly and helpful. They attended to our needs promptly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Surprises me all the way - 1. No WIFI in rooms - Only hotel lobby has WIFI connection (we can't even use own data as there is not service at all at our own rooms)
2. Hotel is suppose to serve buffet breakfast but their min. room booking is 15 room; As they only had 13 rooms booked for the night, we only get set meals...which is not worth the money but food was okay, not too bad.
3. No guards at the "JUNGLE MOUNTAIN Rooms", our room is isolated at a further place from the lobby:
- The room doesn't have a proper lock, anyone can see through your room because it is glass window.
- If something happens, we do not know who to call for help as there is NO TELEPHONE in the room
- We heard something around 12am (someone/something making small noises with their feet at our door) we thought this hotel might be haunted lol
4. From the MAIN ROAD, you will need to drive through ROCKY & TERRIBLE road conditions...(around 3km-4km) and the road to the hotel doesn't have sufficient street lights during night time and the roads are very steep.
- mekala (4/5): - jungle mountain is just infront of the jungle. cant see the mountain at all. no safety as it isolated. water heat stop after 2 people bath then have to wait. smelly toilet. not suitable for elders as you need to climb stiars to top.
big triple bed room. breakfast normal. recommend to take kinabalu wing only or valley wing.
- Yueh Er (8/5): - The view of the resort is great, room is clean. The bed is uncomfortable to sleep.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Acceptable - Place was further away from the main town but still quite accessible with a car. Room was generally clean and spacious but no wifi in the room, had to head to the lobby for that. Cleanliness of the bedding could do with some improvement. Breakfast was mediocre.
- toffony (2/5): Very bad road access - At the very least they inform earlier how the road is. Btw the location too far from the main road
- nurul zairin (8/5): nice view resort , reasonably priced - Strategic place to stay with nice view of environment, only the road To reach the resort is very unsatisfied .. wish the management can consider to fix the road ..
- Verified traveler (10/5): A nice hotel on top of the hill. - The road to the hotel was a bit challenging, especially on rainy day. But the view from our room was beautiful, we can see Mount Kinabalu. The food is delicious, the room is nice and clean. I really love this hotel and would come back again someday. Even better if they do something about the road, more people would be able to come to this hotel.
- Md Adib Bahzi (8/5): Outstanding mountain view - The minor road connecting from the main road is gravel all the way to the hotel. It might be uncomfortable when going up but it pays off with the strategic location and amazing Kinabalu mountaim view from our rooms (Kinabalu Villa). Dine in foods are tasty. The mountain view peak can be experienced in the morning but it was very brief during our stay (perhaps not our lucky day as we were told the thick fog unsually appear in long hours (in the morning). The place is quite and good for those who want a peaceful moment out of from those fast-moving urban lifestyle. If you can't live without Wifi and internet, this hotel is not for you.
- aishah (8/5): Quite Gateaway - Great place to get away from the busy and hustle of city environment with the view of Mount Kinabalu. However, the road to the resort is bumpy, should have driven a 4W to be more comfortable.
- Phang (10/5): Surprised! - Best location for taking photos with Mt Kinabalu, right from your room!
- Gabriel (6/5): access road is in very bad shape just good for 4x4 - it was good for views and serenity
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice view mount kinabalu - 1st time check inn, nice view,so far clean the room,i like this resort
- Mun Yee (6/5): Normal Hill Top Hotel, Cooling-Do not Expect much - The check in process were fast. But be prepared as you will find the road very difficult to drive especially at night. I would suggest you to come back to resort as early as 6 PM. Food in the Cafe were good, consider to eat in house or BBQ. Breakfast were normal but staff was very nice and friendly. I would like to commend the guy who is at the front desk for being very helpful, showing us the map and place to eat/visit nearby, also the lady at the breakfast restaurant. We woke up for breakfast at 8am, food were almost all finished as there was a Chinese group in house. Staff were very nice enough to make us more food.
Note: No activities at night, and a lot of bugs. Bathroom cleanliness were 1/10. But room cleanliness will rate 8/10 .. Is only suitable for 1 night stay. View were nice, and weather were cooling. Appreciate if hotel staff can look into the cleanliness of room, catch all the bugs before check in any in house guest.
- Ahmad Shah (8/5): - Very nice view of Mount Kinabalu from my room. Really enjoy the stay even the road to the resort is old skool.
- ALIF (6/5): - Superb view of mount kinabalu as we stayed in Kinabalu wings after 15 minutes of offroad ride.Room is small, however kitchen food was delicious.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - bad experience stay at my 1st trip to kundsang.
- mas hasifah (10/5): quality of service - Great and nice..hope for more security. I will lose a few goods things outside my room.
- lim (6/5): Cozy hotel & great view but bad location - The hotel is cozy especially at night. At daytime just fan is enough.
The view from the balcony of the kinabalu wing is spectacular: the mount kinabalu is right in front of you.
However, you need some luck to see the mountain as it is foggy most of the time.
The staff are very friendly
The equipment not at the best condition: TV with only 3 channels to watch, picture quality is bad.
Breakfast was provided but very basic and it repeat everyday however the dinner is nice and not expensive but ofcourse not included
The worst part: it is located 3km away from the main road with very rogue road.
You would better drive your own vehicle if you want to stay here
- Kamal (8/5): Great view of Mount Kinabalu & surroundings. - The access road to Celyn Resort needs huge improvement. Luckily we have our local driver who was driving without problem to reach the resort as he knows the place well. The place is very beautiful with excellent view. Woke up in the morning facing the Mount Kinabalu while waiting for the sunrise. Such a great feeling.
- Arun (8/5): Fantastic view. Great room. Bad transportations op - Fantastic view!!! Never seen anything like the view. Mount Kinabalu can be seen from the room and it's beautiful. Room was fine as well - nothing fancy.
Remember!!!! It is difficult to get and get away from there by public transport and taxies don't come there. It is really remote. Their shuttle service is good though(but expensive) For the tech people: wifi there sucks..
- KUANG (2/5): poor road condition - the trip to celyn resort was forced to abandon last minute as realized the condition of the road was bad, untarred road which is not suitable for my myvi
- Eugene (6/5): Room with a view. ... - Nice view rooms but the service of the staff was not very helpful. We were the only people and still np support. Due to the quake the restaurant was being renovated. We had to eat outside which was a bit cold.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Tempat yg cantik - Tempat strategic dan permandangan cantik tapi jalan menuju ke hotel sangat teruk. Perlu perbaiki jalan.
- goh geok (8/5): Will return at a shot! - The hotel was set far back from the road and far from the town. This is wonderful as it was very very quite and you could hear the cicadas in the night and bird calls in the day. There were many flying insects attracted to the lights of the units but this did not bother us at all and in fact added to the ambience of the resort. We were about the only guests at the resort so practically got the place to ourselves. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were very clean. The beds especially had wide and firm matresses - a bonus. As the resort is set on the side of a hill, the paths to the different units were steep so we had to be careful when walking to and from the dining/reception areas.Mt Kinabalu was fully visible from our rooms in the Kinabalu Wing.
- Yaakob (8/5): Kinabalu Welcome u - The surrounding and view were very exciting. Good place for a holiday
- Peter (6/5): Utsikt! - Fantastiskt läge för ett hotell som ligger lite off. Inte så mycket att göra i närområdet.
- Verified traveler (4/5): غير مريح - لم ابيت تلك الليله بل رجعت الى كوتاكينابالو
- Tse (6/5): Nice view. Fair room and service. - Good view. Room is fair. Bathroom is a bit old and mosquito can fly into room.
Nothing around. Can only stay in hotel.
Breakfast choice is limited. Flies are quite annoying while eating. Only offer juice (not fresh juice) to kid in cool weather, need up charge if need hot drink!!
This is not value for money with such service and quality!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Remote but pleasant - Pros: Beautiful views, good breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms, short drive to Ranau and park entrance, friendly staff
Cons: Rough 3km dirt road to access from A4, nice for Borneo but would compare to a clean Motel / Budget Inn 6 in USA, no WiFi, RM 50 key deposit
Suggestions: Don't come here without a car / motorcycle / van, don't plan to come and go several times a day
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice view from room, roads to resort quite bumpy - You can actually saw the whole mount kinabalu from the kinabalu wing room. Huge image of the mountain. The only problem for me is the road to the resort. Quite bumpy... Others are good. You can also rent mahjong/rami, poker for a resonable price! Food there are not bad too.
- Chia (8/5): Great View But Basic Room - We booked two Kinablu Wing rooms. It was a very sunny and clear day when we checked in. Thus, the view from the balcony was FANTASTIC on the first day. The next day however was cloudy and the view of Mt Kinabalu was mostly obstructed. The room was rather basic and the bed was very old and worn out. The room size is small but compensated by a spacious balcony. Breakfast was OK. The road leading up to this resort is very bumpy and it may be very muddy to travel on a rainy day. If you want to stay in this resort, make sure you get a room that faces Mt Kinabalu.
