• Verified traveler (2/5): Lets go Perhentian - Its a dead town..nothing special. No one goes to islands. Hotel is totally rundown. Bed, bath and room is bad. Room grown with spider web, lizards nest and ants nest. Have not seen cockroach yet. Reception is quite friendly though. Hotels.com info is absolutely outdated. Used to be a transit hotel for those going to/from the islands

• Ruben (2/5): Stay away! - We arrived in this shabby old hotel. The lobby smelled of sigarettes, and spider nets in the ceiling. We had upgraded to the executive suite and the room was terrible. A dirty old rug on the floor, long black hair in the floor in the bathroom. The toilet and the sink had not been cleaned at all. No covers on the bed, only a fleece blanket that could cover the legs. And as of the cleanness of the rest of the room, we didn’t take the chance on using the blanket at all. Slept with our clothes on. The sheets and pillow looked clean. The only good thing I could come up with is that it was located close to the jetty, so we could get away quickly!

• Verified traveler (4/5): Enda bra med hotellet är läget till Jetty - Vi bodde här endast en natt eftersom skulle till Perhenthian ön. Hotellet är inte alls i bra skick men vi visste detta när vi bokade men vi kunde heller inte hitta något annat boende nära jetty genom hotels. Att stanna här en natt funkar men skulle nog ej orkat med fler nätter. Räkna med myror inne på rummen.

• Gabi (4/5): - I understand this isn't a 4 or 5 star hotel, but I wasn't expecting towels and sheets that were stained black and yellow. There were actually black specks on towels. And there were bugs crawling all over the room. I had a hard time falling asleep because I was so freaked out by how many bugs there were. There was mold all over the toilet, and spiders in the bathroom. The A/C didn't work, there was no remote to the TV, and no WiFi. The staff was kind enough, but it didn't make up for the condition of the hotel.

• Wan Raihan (2/5): Worst Worst Worst Hotel EVER!! - I arrived at the hotel at 9.30 pm but unfortunately my bathroom has no light. I ask them to repair or change my room but the manager asked me to repaired it myself coz their tech only avalaible at 11.30 pm!!What the hell!!! I stay there to rest not to repair the lamp!!!!Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! The room also dirty! The bedsheet was smelly, No drinking water and only one tv channel!The old chinese man as a manager was so so rude!! I’ll not stay at this hotel again even it is free!! I paid RM 117 thru Hotel.com but the hotel published rate only RM 110. I felt so regret and so sad to stay at this WORST hotel!!

• Hema61 (6/5): Budget - This place is fine for a night stay as we missed the speedboat transfer to the island. It was okay with nothing to shout about. The rooms and toilets need some renovations. The staff was friendly. The town had some restaurants.
• Nprost (2/5): Horrible, dirty, please avoid !! - Everything you don’t want to see and have in a hotel is there...Disappointing staff, dirty sheets, no cleaning done for months, no water. Avoid as much as can. Have tried to give gentle feedback to the Manager but he doesn’t care at all :)
• Melanie (2/5): Avoid!!! - The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is its practical location to the boats to get to the Perhentian islands (not even a 2 minute walk). Other than that it is somewhere I will never stay again; our bed had no cover, the sheet was stained, as were the pillows, and even the towels if we wanted to shower, as well as the floor! My boyfriend and I stayed one night and slept terribly, fully clothed trying to not touch the stains on the mattress sheet. It was if the sheets and pillows hadn't been washed or replaced in a while...yet they charge close to $40 a night?!
• lou (6/5): Good stop over - Good stop over if you can't make Perhentians. This little village was quiet, not many of restaurants open on sunday. Hotel comfortable and close to Jetty. Staff very friendly and helpful.

• Kuru276 (4/5): Basic and Decent Hotel - Stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel is located at the Kuala Besut jetty where tourists take the boat to get to Perhentian Island. Lots of restaurants that serve local food and seafood are found around this hotel. This is a very basic, no-frills hotel. The rooms are fairly spacious, clean and the beds are comfortable. There's a water heater. Aircond worked well. Soap and clean towels are provided. Don't expect to find shampoo, lotions etc here. No toothbrushes provided and no mini fridge available. Was surprised to find an Astro decoder with a few channels available for your viewing pleasure, though. No mineral water bottles provided. Bathroom could do with some sprucing up: toilet seat cover looked jaded and in need of a replacement and the hose that functions as a bidet needs to be replaced: looked filthy especially with a blackened tip! Not sure why that was so. Staff are very attentive and cheerful. Mr Loh, is a chatty and helpful guy who speaks good English. The room we stayed in had one king-sized bed & 2 single beds. It cost us RM125 per night, which is not too bad. During peak season, it's advisable to book early as there are very few hotels are available around Kuala Besut. All in all, a fairly satisfying stay. If you are looking for a more comfortable and pleasant stay, then there are other resorts available too. This town is a quaint, laid back place so don't expect any major excitement.
• heidimathilda74 (4/5): It was not the best and not the worst - Honestly this is the first time I'm in Malaysia and I'm kind of disappointed in the hotel. Especially after travelling long hours the receptionist was rude. The room was small, but I can't say much. I guess you get what you pay
• Susanorkide (4/5): Not recommended - Luckily I only had one night here on my way from Pulau Perhentian Besar. Its close to the jetty, but in poor condition and old, especially the bathroom which was all wet. I didn't fell comfortable. Make sure to dress properly walking around the city. Advisable for the staff of the hotel to inform their gusts of these issues in order to avoid uncomfortable situations. Not recommendable!!!

• GERALDINE (2/5): Bizarre et inquiétant - Hôtel à fuir absolument. Un changement d'horaires d'Air Asia m'a obligé à passer une nuit à Kuala Besut avant de partir pour les Perhentians. J'ai choisi cet hôtel pour sa proximité avec la jetty mais je ne ferai pas la même erreur deux fois. Lorsque l'on s'est inquiété de l'absence de drap, l'inquiétant gérant nous a méchamment indiqué qu'ici c'était l'Asie et pas l'Europe et en gros que si on veut des draps il faut rester en Europe.
• nurhazwanihamdan97 (2/5): The owner is not friendly at all-or I can that he's rude - The owner is not friendly at all. When i told him that the shower were not working, he looked down on me asking whether the shower is not working or i do not know how to use it as if i have been living in a cave. There is no smile on his face at all. When he came to my room to fix the shower, he just entered the room with his slippers on which is simply rude in Malaysian culture. My experience during the stay there are so unpleasant. The room also looked shabby and worn out. The only thing that i liked about this hotel is the location is near the jetty to Perhentian Island. I think it is best to avoid this hotel and find somewhere better.
• Jules (6/5): Basic and clean - suited my needs - This hotel was basic, clean and convenient for my overnight stay before I caught the early morning ferry. Staff were pleasant on check-in, able to answerr my questions. The room was very basic, but clean. Great location for the ferry.
• LIZA (2/5): Do not come to this hotel.. - The toilet and the room were so dirty. I was so surprised and shocked to see that kind of toilet was still exists in 2017. The aircon was leaking at all time . The lady at reception was so rude . I booked a room of 4 single beds. Once I checked in, the reception informed it was a room of 2 double decker bed but with one bed broken. We had to move to another room which we had to pay extra fees. When we decided to move to the ground floor, she gave me a room for 3 people with the price for 5 people..
• Malalotus (4/5): Avoidable - We stayed for 2 night on our way to and from Perhentian island. We checked in to a room in the lower floor. The first night we spotted one huge cockroach in the bathroom and ignored it when it crawled back into its space between the tiles. On the night back we spotted one on the bed and hence had to kill it. Atleast 3 more were spotted in the bathroom. The water in the shower stopped working. We did not bother to complain and get it fixed since we were anyway not in a mood to use the cockroach ridden bathroom! Room is spacious but is old and worn out. Best to avoid a stay here, if possible. The location is good and is near the jetty.
• Pinguna2013 (4/5): Old Hotel that need upgrading - My family booked two family rooms, a stop over for the night before we took the boat to Perhentian the next morning. It is very old hotel and with very cheap furniture and very poor furnishings. The room smell a bit stale and need a good cleaning and need a room refresher.The shower in the toilet do not have a screen or even maybe a shower curtain so if you take a shower, everythings get wet. and Just remember to remove the toilet roll. Couldn't get wifi in the room. However it is very near the jetty and the management offer parking outside the hotel if you have a car that you need to park for a few days.

Also the astro facility not working as advertising.
• Dogwhisperer1979 (2/5): Really not recommended - find somewhere else to stay. - We only ended up staying here as there was no boats to Perhentian islands due poor weather. We were desperate for a room. 1) Check in/out. Checking in was easy and good as they allowed us in at 9.30am. You have to pay 50Rm key deposit but getting the deposit back wasn't a problem. 2) The bed. The sheets were dirty and covered with black marks. The mattress was poor and you could feel the springs in it. The pillows were hard and not comfy. We really didn't get a good nights sleep. 3) The room. Was dated which is ok but it lacked in general cleanliness. Staff obviously take very little care over cleaning it. 4) The bathroom. It was disgusting. Water leaking over the floor from the air con unit. There was an awful smell from the toilet. Was so bad I felt physically sick everything I used the toilet. Generally not clean and very poor in comparison to everywhere else I have stayed in Malaysia. Towels were provided for the bathroom but these were poor quality and thread bare. 5) Air con. This worked well, probably too well. The room was freezing cold when it was on.

• robinsflying (2/5): Avoid, many other places to stay - Was staying here just for a night as I was too late for the final jetty to Kampung Pulau Perhentian. It was far too expensive compared to anywhere else I've stayed in Malaysia and by far the worst standard. The floor is filthy, but if they even just ran a mop over it some of those would be gone. Proving the poor quality of cleaning. Bathroom window couldn't be closed, so how could I keep out bugs at night? Wifi was not working or free that I could tell. Bed was covered in stains such that I wondered how they were not ashamed to be leaving a bed made up with those stains showing. I slept on top of a towel. The bathroom feels dirty and never dries out. The sink was clogged. TV was so old it's picture was pixelated and had nothing with watching. Sorry to be harsh, but I'm trying to give my experience so you can use that information to make your own choice. All carpets felt dirty and musty and unhygienic. However it does have brand new air conditioning units which were exceeding good and the only way I survived a night here. Plenty of other nicer and similarly priced spots in Kuala Besut. Try any of them first.

• wooharty (4/5): Basic hotel - This is a true 1 to 2 star hotel. We booked the family executive room for one night. It was a spacious room however not very clean and the bathroom looks like it had not been touched for quite a while. They also require 50RM key deposit. Overall it was OK for 1 night. I certainly have stayed at worse places in my backpacking days!
• Cheow-Lay (4/5): Basic with internet - Really basic but it is all I expected before leaving for the Perhentian islands the next day
• PakejCutiOhTravel (6/5): Not bad for a low cost hotel - It's quite not bad for a low cost hostel since there are no 4 star or 5 star hotel round. They gave me free wifi but apparently it's not so good. Have to use my own mobile data to connect to the internet. Wasn't so bad for 1 night stay waiting for the next ferry to Perhentian Island tomorrow. If you're stranded here while the ferry schedule is over for that day, this hotel is not a bad choice especially for Malaysian.
• TerriLondon (4/5): Pretty grim, air con broken, wasn't very clean - Think the title says it all. Stayed for one night before going to the Perhentians. On the plus side very close to the jetty and it's next to the bus station too. The man at the check in was very friendly. The room was pretty yuck, sheets didn't feel clean, bathroom was horrid, the air con was broken so it made for a very hot sweaty evening. No facilities at all. You def wouldn't stay longer than one night, I was out of there pretty quickly the next day. The K Cafe opposite serves great roti though, the best I've had so far. Wifi was patchy.
• FarisFasri (2/5): Surprised such a LOW quality hotel still exist in this era - We arrived in Kuala Besut at night and decided to stay at the hotel due to its close proximity with the jetty. We stayed in the Standard Room and was charged RM115, very pricey for the quality of service . My nightmare begins immediately when I opened the room!! I didn't know such hotels still existed in this current era. The bedsheet was dirty with dark stains , the pillow was flat as it it has been replaced for ages and the worst, the towels was so old and ragged. When u wipe your body w the towels, the cloth stick to your body. When we opened the bathroom , there were 3 BIG cockroaches!!! We went to the receptionist and was given aerosols to kill the insects. Honestly if I was charge rm30/night I wouldn't complained but there are so many better places that give better service. To the mgmt, please reinvest your money into the property. You give a bad image of Malaysia hospitality and tourism!
• Emerlynn (2/5): Quite inexpensive, but worse than or as the cheaper place - I arrived in the late afternoon and checked in the quad room for RM95/night. As we were only staying 1 night to catch the first boat to Perhentian Island in the next morning. I thought it would be okay to close one eye, but not until I entered the room. Dusty floor and bed sheet, broken toilet door, missing bunk bed stairs, dirty makeup/tv cabinet greet us. Broken toilet door to be shared with 4 person? somehow we survive.. The guy ( I think is the owner) are quite rude and not friendly.
• jia voon (2/5): Near to jetty - I had a very very low expectation after reading numerous review on this hotel.however it doesn't even meet my low expectation. The only great thing about the hotel is the distance to the jetty. Very near.
• aboodya962 (2/5): Terrible but .. - I'm just arrived late at Kota Bahru, and arrived at Samudera 12 am, so i have to stay in place near to the jetty, so i took the standard room, it's very old and basic room, the bed was unconfirmed at all with noisy sounds, the toilet too was uncleaned, when i checked in the floor of the toilet was wet. I recommend it if you want a place near the jetty.
• RonA_Plymouth (4/5): On par with area - Thought I would get he best room in the hope of actually getting something that was OK, I failed booked an executive suite and did not even get a standard room by normal standards. I don't think I have ever seen such a poorly (cheap) fitted out hotel, again just like the area, money for nothing. Best advice avoid staying in Besut. Not recommended.
• ayoosuf (6/5): Small hotel, great option for stay over if you missed the Perhentian Boat :) - We got late to catch the evening Perhentian boat from Kuala Besut. So we had to find a hotel close by to stay over night and Samudera was a great choice. The rooms and bathrooms aren't that great. But it was just a group of boys and we needed a place to get some rest before we went to Perhentian next day morning.
• DanielcyChuah (2/5): No Second time - One of the most terrible Hotel I stay so far!!!! The deco is dated, the bed smell bad, the bed sheets has holes on it and is yellowish!!!! the towel is those you get in night market which is like RM 10 for 12 pieces quality! the TV cannot event work properly, out of focus and color, the toilet was dated and the basin is so small, i can hardly fit both my hands in it. The air con, open for the whole night also the room is hot! the only goof thing bout the hotel, there is hot shower with very low water pressure and the interest is at least working. BUT IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY PAID FOR! NOT EVENT ONE SINGLE CENT!

• Gabriela (2/5): Da evitare assolutamente - Pessimo... Il posto più sporco e trascurato che mi sia mai capitato di vedere... Moquette che non sono state pulite in anni, letto senza lenzuola, cuscini grigi di quanto fossero sporchi, il bagno senza commenti...Anche se dovevamo fermarci solo una notte per prendere la barca il giorno dopo, non ci siamo rimaste, abbiamo preferito cambiare albergo e rimetterci i soldi piuttosto che dormire in quel posto. Quando abbiamo detto che ce ne andavamo la persona alla reception non ha neanche fatto un cenno, nè un tentativo per farci rimanere. Non lo consiglio a nessuno.
• Florence (4/5): pas de wifi - J'ai horreur des hôtels qui annoncent avoir le wifi alors qu'en fait, on n'arrive jamais à y accéder!! A part ça, l'hôtel est situé près de la jetty donc c'est un point de chute idéal avant de partir pour les îles Perhentian. (Pour info, on a eu un bateau à 7h du mat.)
• David (6/5): Its a gamble - My first impression of the property was "what have I done". It's okay for a few hours stay. We had a room for 3. We carried our own sheets/towels. There was no water at all in our bathroom. Wifi was not bad. Its near the beach but the beach is not pleasant. Being Ramadan period most of the shops were closed.
• Magnus (2/5): Vil ikke bruge igen! - Værelset var rigtig ulækkert. Toilettet løb i løbet af natten ud på toilet gulvet (skete ved begge værelser jeg havde betalt for). Sengene var under al kritik, man fik et lummert fleece tæppe at sove med (ikke passende i 30+ grader) samt madrasserne var uduelige, man sov med en fjeder i ryggen. Vi fik også to håndklæder pr. værelse, de var begge snavsede og udvaskede. Rengøringen var under al kritik.

So, what hotel.com claimed in the email that our room is guaranteed and no need for confirmation was not true at all. The hotel gave us two rooms instead (luckily there were still rooms available). One room we entered, it was smelly, we found out that the smell came from the bedsheet and the pillow case (obviously,the cleaner just made up the room without having the said items changed). The other room the toilet flush reservoir did not function. We complained, and immediately we were given another upgraded rooms. Hmm, the toilet's flush tank was not working in one of the rooms but the other was ok. Tired of complaining so we just make do what we had. Luckily its just a one nite stay. The good thing about this hotel was the distance to Perhentian Island's bound Jetty. It just a five minutes walking distance.

• Verified traveler (4/5): pohodlene postele bez deky - prineste si svou - Hotel je 60 m od nastupu do lodi na Perhentians. Dostanete to, co si zaplatite; pokud nemustite preckat v Kuala Besut noc, tak tak necinte. Majitel je prijemny. Hotel velmi stary. Internet staci na e-mail. Klimatizace funguje, na prikryti je vsak jen nepovlecena stara deka.Zadny hmyz neobtezoval. Pro zpestreni odpoledne/podvecera zajdete na mistni plaz (asi 10 km) a v sobotu urcite na trhy.
• Leanne (2/5): Basic hotel - The Samudera hotel is not a place a would ever stay in again or recommend. It was a run down dirty and smelt . The beds sunk in the middle and pillows full of dust mites as I sneezed all night. The beds had a bottom sheet but no top sheet just a blanket that smelt of other people - yuk - they never have been washed. Luckily we had sleeping bag sheets which we used to cover us and keep us feeling clean. This would have to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in for a long time . The $40 was $20 too much ! Stay at the slightly higher priced hotel T Lodge on the other side. The benefit is that your close to the ferry that goes out to the Islands.
• Alonso (4/5): OMG! What's going on? - Conditions not so good as price as high! If something is black I expect information that the color is black, not that is little bit different than white. That's all. Low quality but not cheap hotel.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Uncomfortable Stay - Luckily we only stayed in this hotel for the one night as a stop over but it was a restless bug infested stay. We arrived at 11pm covered ourselves in bug replant stuffed the torn ragged dirty bed sheets in the bathroom and attempted to sleep on our beach towels. It did the job as a stop over hotel but only if you're not bothered about bugs in your room. The room had aircon and wifi which made it one step better than sleeping on the streets.
• Ginette (4/5): Bad experience - Leaking fawcets, bathroom floor always wet, personel did not clean the room. Had to kill a big insect that came int bed during the night....did not sleep very well afterwards.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Adequate - The hotel serves it purpose as a rest stop for the Islands. It could do with a refurbishment and painting but it sufficed for a nights rest. It might be a bit cleaner if the staff weren't on their phones instead of working. It's location is ideal for the bus station, organising trips and getting something to eat at a cafe or food stall.
