- Wendy (3/5): It’s a overrated “hotel” - Quiet I think is overrated, it’s a complex for weddings or celebrations where the family could stay, they don’t have pool or nice restaurants, they send you to porta hotel to use pool restaurants and it’s cheaper and it has all in the same place, I recommend use this hotel instead

The check-in process was smooth and quick, and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and comfortable the room was. The bed was cozy, the amenities were well thought out, and everything was spotless. One of the highlights was the breakfast – fresh, delicious, and with plenty of options for everyone. The location was also perfect, close to great restaurants and local attractions, but still quiet enough to relax. We definitely will be back to Pensativo House and recommend this hotel

- Ginri (10/5): An Amazing Wedding Venue & a Lovely Hotel! - Pensativo House Hotel was the venue for our son's wedding. It was an absolutely beautiful & amazing wedding! Everyone had a wonderful time, from the delicious food to the super fun after party underground. Everything was magical & well-organized. I want to give a special shout out to Wendy, the event coordinator at Pensativo & Juan Carlos, the head of staff. We booked the venue one year in advance & couldn't be happier that we found an opening there. The wedding guests said that it was the best food that they had had at a wedding & I agree! It was an amazing experience all around.

We had 100 guests -first for a rooftop celebration in view of the famous volcanos and mountains and then for a reception dinner with white table cloths, white chair covers - and the buffet selections were plated by the staff with a true eye for pleasant presentation. The beef could be sliced with a bread knife! Everything was scrumptious. We stayed a full 7 nights and enjoyed beautiful artwork, careful service, fresh filtered water, crisp cotton sheets and towels and a very accommodating staff.

The rooms are silent, spacious and well decorated, full of amenities including a private balcony. There are a number of Instagram worthy backgrounds within the hotel.

Our friends got married here and the ceremony was excellent. The room was far beyond my expectations. Very spacious and ornately decorated. My spouse and I loved using the jacuzzi every night and there was complimentary cookies & juice in the lobby. Picturesque volcano views from the bar. 11/10 stay.

I enjoyed relaxing in the Jacuzzi, and the hotel in general was absolutely lovely; almost like a museum. The food at breakfast was amazing, probably the best I had all trip, and staff was polite and friendly throughout. I would warn that the reservation and check in process was a little difficult; be sure to have your email confirmation handy. The front desk was insistent I booked a room for 1 adult, when in fact I had booked for myself and my husband. Once I was able to prove that, check in was fine. One person I was traveling with was charged for the room he booked but received a smaller room, so definite logical confusion at the desk
- 969anitar (10/5): Family time - I stayed at Masion del Pensativo in 2005 and it was absolutely awesome then. This appears to be the same place on 4th Avenue, very similar views, but it has been greatly expanded and updated. I have friends who were also there at the same time and they wish to return a visit there in a few months. Pensativo, can you confirm if this is the same location? Gracias.

I would suggest correcting it and sending a little more information before arrival including where to park (Which was very easy, but not until I figured it out). The location is central enough you can walk anywhere within the city limits.
- RVoswinckel (6/5): Visiting for a wedding in Antigua. - This was a visit for a wedding in Antigua. Antigua is a fantastic destination for these events. They stay in the hotel was overall very nice. Two couples had to cancel for various reasons within the allowed time frame. The return of their deposits took several months and personal intervention by a friend. This was quite a disagreeable experience.
- LorraineP203 (10/5): Great start to my stay in Antigua Guatemala - This is the hotel that Gate 1 Discovery Tours is using for my tour Culture and Adventure in Guatemala and Belize and checked in a day early today - love it - boutique feeling but first class services, cozy and very nice check-in staff - arrived with a big and beautiful wedding taking place which looked amazing. Room is spacious and comfortable and everything I could hope to need. A long travel day so opted for dinner at the rooftop bar, taken care of by Oscar who is just lovely. Had one of the house cocktails Pensativo Sangria and the Skirt Steak dinner, which were both delicious. Great start to my stay in Antigua and tomorrow get to see it all in the daylight!

However, the attitude of front desk staff leaves a lot to be desired - they were flat out rude and ignored guests while on their cell phone. Cleaning staff would knock once and proceed to enter room, then just left without apologizing. This is my third time staying at this property, but will never stay again. There are other properties in Antigua with significantly better service.

There's no way of getting a bottle of wine or even a beer at the hotel on a Saturday night at 10:15pm. Ridiculous. We really wanted to have a stay in romantic moment in the hotel with my girlfriend but there's just nothing to do. No chips, no nuts at the hotel apparently, just nothing. The mini fridge only has Cola-Cola and bottled water. The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly but the person I talked to provided no solutions to this problem.

I would recommend this place to everyone and would stay again. The only downside were the front desk staff. They were incredibly rude when they checked us in. To make matters worse, they continued to be rude throughout the stay even in small interactions when walking in and out of the hotel. It was such a shame, you’d figure the front desk would be more welcoming if they’ll be the first impression for guests. However, I would stay again. Hopefully the front desk will be nicer next time.

- ALASTAIR (8/5): - This is an excellent choice for Antigua: A very atmospheric property with great architecture and public spaces, within walking distance of the center of town. There's also free parking very close by. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff very helpful. One thing to note however: The hotel seems to do a lot of functions, which take up a lot of space and a lot of the staff's time and attention. In fact we got a sense that functions are the hotel's primary focus, with hotel guests an afterthought.

We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and enjoyed it very much. The staff was always very friendly. The hotel was booked for a wedding so I was only able to get a room with a king size bed. It worked out well for my sister and I. Very spacious. We didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. The hotel is about 6 blocks from the park, church and shopping area. Not bad at all! We were very pleased and will DEFINITELY stay here again.

I loved the rooftop terrace bar and the wonderful seating area for meals. It was my first time in Guatemala and the breakfast had all of my cells excited 😊 We didn't have hot water for our first day, so that took a little getting used to. The hot water did kick in the second day and we had a bit more joy in our lives!

I wish I had more time there to utilize the spa services available Uber was easy to get to go places This location is not on the plaza square
- Kelsey (10/5): Comfortable Oasis in Antigua - Pensativo is beautiful! The interior is stunning and so are the rooms. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed our down time at the hotel when we weren't out exploring.

- Erick (6/5): - Mi reservación originalmente era para el hotel Pensativo de 2 habitaciones, 1 habitación con cama King y la otra con 2 camas. Al llegar al hotel me dicen que el hotel está lleno y que me darían 1 habitación en el hotel Casa Encantada y la otra en Hotel Antigua. Mi viaje era en familia por lo que no acepté que fuera en hoteles diferentes. Luego de esperar un rato me resolvieron dándome 2 habitaciones en hotel Antigua pero no con la configuración de camas que yo había reservado ni el hotel que había reservado. El personal es muy atento y amables, pero no me agrado que me hicieran esos cambios y el tiempo que perdí en lo que me resolvían el problema.
