• GiuliannaS (7/5): Great location, clean rooms, free coffee, tea, hot cocoa. - I always stay at the English Bay hotel because of its great location, honest price and facilities such as having a kitchen. The free coffee, tea and cocoa are always welcome. The room and bathroom are usually clean, and I noticed this because most of the cleaning staff is Brazilians, and we have fantastic cleaning standards. I hope the owners are good employers! Keep employing Brazilians and I will keep coming back :) The rooms are a bit dated, the mattress has seen better days, the one in my room was visibly sagged. The air conditioner sent off a weird smell when turned on. The wifi was useless, I tried different ones and they were so slow that I preferred using my mobile service.

Sea view and two minutes from English Bay beach and Stanley Park. Spacious rooms and many shops and restaurants nearby The rooms need refurbishing and updating, and there is some street noise from the restaurants.

Great for the solo traveller who wishes to blend in with - Being near English Bay and by Proxy the SeaWall and Stanley Park was a huge plus for me. Walked so much as a result, it was great exercise! The shower temperature control was really finicky but it's such a small thing compared to how good the rest of the room was.

Staff is super nice and helpful. Every room has kitchen. Beds are very comfortable. Very clean. Our stay was very pleasant and our family will be coming back again. Thank you!

We tried a handful of the restaurants on this street and they were all amazing. This hotel is old & tired, but everything worked well and the rooms were a good size.

Had to park across the street, if a spot was even available. Many streets only turn one way so getting back was a challenge looking for a parking spot.

• Rebecca (4/5): Location was great but didn’t want to spend much time here - The location was good It was not very clean or hospitable feeling- it felt like being in a more exotic country- not the typical hospitality environment. Dish soap was in a used water bottle with half peeled label, trash bins were repurposed 5 gallon buckets from laundry detergent etc. not bad things and functional- just didn’t feel like a hotel that was almost $200 a night. I found several Hairs in the bathroom and the sheets were very stiff- wasn’t disgusting but not somewhere I wanted to spend much time.

• Charlotte (7/5): Great stay, would recommend - You could not ask for a better location, friendlier staff, or bigger rooms. While this hotel looks rundown from the outside it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were so impressed with how big our room was, including a kitchen and bathroom, and an additional room we used for drying wet clothes after being outside. The staff were helpful in allowing us to exchange coins for the laundry. The bed was comfortable, the room warm (even in March), and great food places all around you if you don't want to cook. I don't know if there were many people staying here at the same time but it was quiet inside the building and couldn't hear people in adjoining rooms. This is an old, dated hotel but they were actively renovating rooms while we were there so there's definitely improvements being done This is an old hotel, so come expecting that. I booked this place so I knew what to expect but I think my partner was a bit disappointed when we arrived. The hallways were dark and there was a strong lingering smell of cleaning products. However I would say the quality of our room at the price we paid made up for it. The location is right on the road so there's traffic noise but it didn't bother us. We stayed 5 nights and 3 of the nights were peaceful and quiet. However one night, from about 1am-4am there was some sort of loud party going on outside. And then the next night the restaurant below started constructing a new fenced seating area at midnight. These things didn't bother us but if you're a light sleeper, bare in mind the rooms are single glazed so you can hear everything outside (though not much from inside the building)

• Muzahidul (10/5): Comparatively low cost and value added option. Better if the cost is more cheaper. - Very close to the water front. Clean room, friendly staffs, has basement paid carpark lots. Not related to the facility owner. As the location at downtown, the road is narrow and high traffic.

We’ve stayed - Okay, so it might be a tad old and dated, it is excellent value with large rooms and a kitchen! This is a great place to stay. Location is excellent with walking distance to Robson St and many attractions. It is exceptionally clean and the staff very friendly and helpful.

• stingrach (8/5): The most affordable, comfortable and secure place you will stay in English Bay. - I've stayed here several times and it's always been great. It's quirky, quite vintage, but for the price it's the best in the area. Views over English Bay, always quiet despite being in the heart of everything there, very helpful staff and secure, gated parking with 24hr access. It is slightly dated, especially with the ovens supplied (2 stove tops didn't work and I stayed in a few different rooms and each room had different applicances or kitchen gadgets), however - again - for the price I would highly recommend as if I needed anything and asked they would always really try and help. Some stains on mattresses and dated appliances and building, but for the cost it's for sure worth it.

Outdated and strong smell of disinfectant in hallways. Not toddler friendly - accessible to windows that easily open with not safety screen and easy reach to turn on stove top. Parking was not included in price.

They let us leave our bags before check in There was a very irritating buzzing sound throughout the entire building, except when we were in our room. (thank god). Wasn't a super well taken care of building, wouldn't say it was worth the $275 we spent after taxes

Restaurants, coffee shops, banks and stores are at walking distance, was very convenient. Bad odour in the elevator and hallway. Recommend to use some mild air freshener. Bathroom door requires repair. Staff at the reception didn't bother to offer help to carry my suitcases (9) to the 4th floor, in the elevator. Could have been a nice gesture to offer little help, especially when some one just arrived from the Airport with small kids crying due to Jet lag.

ITS A HEALTH HAZARD due to the rug it’s very dark and has a smell, specially in the hallways. When I first entered the room my skin just started flaring up and having some rashes. It’s so itchy and my asthma is triggering

• Lin (1/5): Dead mouse - Nothing Pricy, dirty, old building with lots of traffic noises. Found a dead mouse on the floor after waking up in the morning!

• Gabriela (10/5): Cómodo y accesible - Excelente ubicación, la habitación es cómoda, no es lujoso pero tiene lo básico y necesario. A mi gusto, faltaba luz, solo tenía dos lámparas.

• Kyle (5/5): You get what you pay for! - The size of the room was excellent. The amenities were also great. I would say the best things about the place were the price and the prime location for walking to Davie Village and other restaurants. The room was not particularly clean, especially the kitchen. There was also a random sock under the bed. This made us question if the room had actually been cleaned.
