The staff was very friendly and it is a very calm and relaxing environment with pristine beach access. The room was exceptionally clean, just a little outdated— but I did book their last room available so it makes sense. I was told that the property is so popular you need to book the room at least 11 months in advance. Overall I would most definitely recommend this stay if you’re going for a chill, romantic, or family oriented stay. 10/10.

Right when we got there, the staff welcomed us with big smiles and made us feel super comfortable. Every person we met was so nice and went out of their way to make our trip an amazing experience. We really want to thank the staff for being so kind. They made our vacation extra special.! Carol’s Rest Cottage was like a dream.! It was cozy, really clean, and decorated with a cool island vibe. It had plenty of room for our family and all the stuff we needed, but still felt warm and cozy. The cottage has a lovely back story and it was nice to be a guardian of the cottage for the week. Plenty of cooking equipment and gear to cook and serve for at least 4 people. HOT water and COLD a/c.!! The whole resort is like paradise, kept super neat with pretty gardens and awesome ocean views that wowed us every day. We always felt safe and relaxed, which let us enjoy the island to the fullest. The beach was the most amazing part of the property and there are not words to describe the beauty of the beach and sunsets in front of the property. We will be back.!

What could be better than waking up and walking out your cottage door, and the ocean is in front of you!! You are surrounded by lush greenery, and turtles lay their eggs on the beach so that you might see tiny turtle footprints leading to the ocean. The nights are spectacular for seeing the stars, and I have taken beautiful shots of the constellations. Honesty, no words do this place justice; see for yourself the magic at The Cottages by the Sea

If you're looking for some place fancy with a lot of luxury, this is not the place. Many things are rundown unfortunate because it's a very nice location.

They had some issues with water supply due to island wide outage, but it was fixed within a day. The beach is very beautiful, easy access and you can snorkel for hours right at the beach, lots of tropical fish, sea turtles. Our cottage was toward the back of the property, so very quiet. Just 50 feet walk from the beach. Some of the beach front cottages were a bit noisy but generally very quiet after 10pm. All personnel and guest we met were very friendly, pleasant.

- Colette N (10/5): - Cottages was everything and so much more! I did a good amount of research and knew I wanted to stay in Frederiksted when looking at available places. Cottages came out above the rest. First it's on the water, you can wake up, and walk right into the water whenever you choose. And, please don't downplay the beach... this is the Caribbean sea, not any regular beach. Serene waters, calm and salty so you float easily, plus cottages have a plethora of floats and beach toys to use. To enhance the experience there's rocky areas where you'll see loads of small fish. This was especially fun for the kids to follow around the fish with their snorkel gear. We stayed in the chart house, which slept 5, and it was great for our family. It's not just a hotel room, it's great for big families like mine, since it's always a challenge to get a room that can fit all of us comfortably. The cottage has a full kitchen: full size fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, pots, pans & dishes. I knew I wanted to find some local fisherman to score some fish and this kitchen was so useful for all meals. The location is great as its a short drive from just about all the restaurants in the area. It's also close to excursions like jet ski & off roading. We had an absolute blast, and I was near tears on our last day. Thank you Cottages for allowing us to experience the beauty of your island through the hospitality of the Cottages. Many memories were made here that we won't soon forget!

The staff are friendly and extremely helpful, especially Kate and Kishma. The units have a kitchen which is a definite plus. I would recommend staying here and will definitely be returning. - Phillip (10/5): - We stayed at the end of March of this year. It was our first visit to St. Croix. We loved the quaint feeling of the cottage and the friendliness of all the staff. We were there the week before Easter and the locals set up campsites at the edges of the beach. We had some several days of untypically rough water but were still able to enjoy the beach. We did snorkel at the Pier. Make sure you enter the water to the left of the pier. The hike to Ham's Bluff lighthouse is a little difficult but it is not crowded and you are rewarded with incredible views.

We saw sea turtles, sting rays and even an octopus! They even have spare flippers and snorkel equipment at no extra cost. The hotel next door has a restaurant making dinner easy and convenient if you don’t want to head into town or cook. Can’t wait to visit again!

- Karen (10/5): Wonderful stay! - My son and I loved this property! The beach was perfect and the views were incredible! We loved being able to have a kitchen and the barbecues on site! The staff was friendly and helpful! I will be back! The only thing I could have used in our room was a broom or a mini vac for the sand that we tracked in. Not every day had housekeeping, which is fine, but I wouldn’t mind sweeping up after myself. Other than that, the property was charming and beautiful❤️

The reason for less stars and our only dissatisfier was, roaches, if possible we would have changed locations because living amongst roaches does not a great vacation make. We left some food out one night and saw roaches in it the next day. We highly recommend that the property do something about this ASAP.

Very few restaurants nearby and all had limited hours, closed Sun-Tue and nothing opens early. I suggest planning to eat most meals in or travel to Christiansted for dining. Close to the pier where you will certainly see sea turtles if you snorkel, but lots to see just south of the beach in front of the cottages, too. We’ll likely be back but will do meals differently.

There wasn't many people on the beach. Cute bar/grill right next door. We got to see a big sea turtle right by our rental, along with turtle nests. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The house has plenty of water toys and chairs, board games and outdoor activities. This was exactly what we needed!

- Bodo (10/5): - If you are looking to "unplug", this is the place. A small number of cottages in different sizes, most of which open directly on the beach and ocean. Swimming and snorkeling gear are provided, and the "Sand Castle" hotel right next door has an awesome patio to enjoy sundowners while actually watching the sun go down. Understand that this isn't a Hyatt or Marriott but a locally owned and operated hotel which makes up for a squeaky door with a lot of heart and soul. There is plenty of parking, a supermarket within a mile, and the west side beaches are the nicest on the entire island. We stayed at the "Cottages by the Sea" for over a week and loved every day of it.

Exactly as pictured, great communication and suggestions, which some of them I ignored :) I would definitely recommend renting a car especially if you don’t plan on staying at the hotel all the time or eating at the same place next door for the duration of your stay. There is really no other reliable transportation on the island. There is no Uber and cabs don’t work the same way. You have to call the day before to schedule your ride. The staff was amazing and very accommodating. I would definitely recommend!

Ours was an ocean view cottage with easy access to the beach. It had everything we needed, and the snorkeling out front (especially to the right) was excellent.

Easily could've had one kid stay in there as well. Will be recommending to family, and we hope to come back again.

Snorkeling gear, floats, sunscreen etc were all available to guests for the beach. Frederikstead is definitely where you want to stay for a local laid back experience without the uptight tourist trap atmosphere. Downtown is just a bicycle ride away. The Cottage’s also provide bicycles to guests. The art all around Frederikstead is a must see. Sunset cruise on the Jolly Mon is a must do. I can not wait to plan my next visit.

We noticed people trying to work out on the sidewalk, it would be nice if there was a small area somewhere on the property to be able to do daily work outs. Also we found that it was hard to find fruit on the island, it would be great if the property offered that at reasonable price. The staff was very accommodating and pleasant to visit with.
