Guest Reviews
- Natalia (10/5): - One of the nicest staff ever ! Super clean And comfortable. Would definitely be staying here again in the future!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very Clean and setting was nice. There was no one there when we needed service. Went to the main office many times no one was there. To check out no one greeted us out either we just gave the keys to a man who said he received them.
- A.Scott (2/5): - The overall look of the hotel was the only pleasant thing I took from it. My stay began Saturday March 30th, I missed my flight so I arrived March 31st. The manager told me she knows things happen so she will try to get my money back for the day I missed. Which I was not worried about it. This is a very small hotel about 8 to 10 rooms total which I thought would be good, exact opposite. There are no house keepers in this facility at all. In the 4 days I was there no one came to clean my room ,bring more towels or anything. There is never anyone at the front desk. To get in contact with anyone you must call one of the 2 numbers on the banner outside , 1 is disconnected. It’s very far away from everything. I could of stayed at the Hyatt or Hilton downtown for penny’s more and received great service and been close to all the great amenities Puerto Rico has. There is only one way in and out the hotel which you need a code to exit and enter. They changed the code my 2nd day there and couldn’t get out the hotel until a car came in and I walked out. The manager/ owner texted and let me know they changed the code 30 minutes later. My last day my flight left 4. I asked if I could stay 2 hours past check out until my shuttle came she told me I would have to pay $25 if I would like to stay. This is the same lady that told me she wanted to refund me the money for the day I missed which didn’t happen. Poor experience will never return to this hotel don’t make the same mistake I did.
- Yasmín (8/5): Buena - Dlbm todos bien
- Jeffrey (8/5): Nice view, congested area - Even with just maps app we had no trouble finding this secluded spot. Great views from roof garden of lagoons and if you're a plane spotter, the end of the SJU runway. Departing traffic goes right over you, do if aircraft noise bothers you, look elsewhere. We enjoyed it.
Ares has lots of little restaurants on the main road, so it can be congested getting in and out on weekends at least as our stay was on one.
Nice pool and staff. We'll be back.
- Michael (6/5): Our stay January 2017 - We picked Tarpon's Nest Lodge because we needed a place in proximity to the airport for the night before an early morning flight out. It was certainly in proximity (directly under the takeoff/landing flight path). The room was clean and the mattress on the bed really good. the pool is small but nice. There were small nuisances such as only two towels, only a partial roll of toilet paper, lack of a remote for the DISH unit. There were some really good restaurants close by on 187 but my wife didn't feel comfortable walking through the neighborhood. We will probably stay at Tarpon's Nest Lodge again if we have an early morning flight out of San Juan.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very Unreliable - When we arrived here at night, no one answered the door or the phone. We ended up having to stay somewhere else.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great little hotel - We spent 10 days in PR. We knew we wanted to stay closer to San Juan on our last night but didn't plan ahead. Towards the end of our stay we started looking for a place and came across the Tarpen's. This was a great hotel! Would absolutely stay here again!! It's off the beaten path but within short walking distance there was a variety of places to get food & drink.
- Alberto (10/5): Our awesome stay at Tarpon's Nest Lodge. - We really enjoy ourselves because it was extremely comfortable, relaxing. We enjoy the breakfast and the
staff was extremely attentive, polite and easy going. The staff met all of our needs without having to ask
for anything. The place was very nice and beautiful, we would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone
who would love to enjoy good comfort. It was also close to fantastic food and shops.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for fishing - This hotel was VERY hard to find...no street signs. Also the noise of the airport was quite loud.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Most taxis can't find this hotel. Taxi driver kept calling the hotel for directions but no one answered the phone. When we finally reached (taxi charged me extra as it took a long time), we couldn't find a door. So we had to yell continuously over a heavy wooden gate, that looked like Fort Knox. Finally someone came out and opened the gate for us.
Had to wheel a suitcase over gravel - not an easy task.
Got to the room, sat down to use the rest room and realize there were no supplies !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Had to find someone who worked there and finally he gave me a basket of supplies.
There were no curtains - just overhead projector screens to hide the windows. Very strange.
No TV.
No bath towels. Had to dry myself with three hand towels.
Not even a vending machine. Had to walk through a residential area to buy a bottle of water. I'm a single woman, but wasn't too scary although I did pass a few youths on motor bikes which made me nervous.
No one around next morning for my check out so I just left the key.
I got the impression I was the only visitor at the 'hotel'.
A 'hotel' shouldn't be at a place like this.
- Rohit (4/5): Staff really needs to get their act together - **Ugly start**: This place located in a dingy mostly rural locality. This is where things got really bad for us. We arrived at the property at about 9PM and were greeted with locked gates, 7-9 foot high compound walls and no buzzer/call bell. Also nobody was picking up the phone at the reception. We spent a good 10-15 mins in the dark (and shady neighbourhood) trying to figure if we were at the right location. After 20 mins in the dark we decided to call the hotels.com and ask for a replacement hotel. They were nice enough to start a hotel relocation process going and thats when I get a call from this hotel saying they were out for a few mins and will be back in 5! We decided to wait and were met with an apologetic staff member, supposedly out shopping for breakfast. This left a very bad impression. You cannot leave a hotel locked, unattended and leave guests worried in a locality like this. That experience easily shaves 2-3 stars for me
Well apart from that here is my impression of the hotel:
**Room & Bathroom**:
Good: Clean, spacious well decorated. Ample amount of storage. Good bed.
Bad: No refrigerator or microwave. Hotel in airline flight path, so will disturb sleep.
**Property**
Pretty good actually. Has a good view from the terrace. Great location for breakfast. Its right next to the ocean, no beach.
**Location**
Not great. Feels like a unsafe locality. No good restaurants near. Kind of far from the main San Juan tourist areas.
- VA (8/5): Nice hotel close to beach and airport - only one night stay. Had a little trouble finding hotel but called and staff was very helpful. Gorge checked me in and room was remarkably clean and comfortable. The grounds were lovely and pool perfect. The area was funky but lively and fun . The hotel security was extensive and gave me pause but I went out for seafood to recommend restaurant and enjoyed myself without feeling uncomfortable as a woman alone. The airport nearby can be noisy but did not keep me awake at all. I slept with open windows and wake early so fishing group leaving in the morning didn't bother me. I would stay there again.
- heartnp1 (10/5): Unique hotel - Picked a hidden gem! We loved our stay! Good value. Upscale bathroom. Small pool but very nice. Very private and secure.
- Daniel Seda (4/5): - for the price did not offer the service or amenities of a higher end hotel,
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for comfty almost home experience - Simple and modern. Felt secure nice view close to everything secluded
- Dor (6/5): Nice hotel, good value, very remote - The staff was very friendly. Jorge takes care of anything you need. He speaks very little English though. Hotel is very far, actually not far but a $30 + taxi ride to the San Juan restaurant . There's a few little cafés in the area but no where to get supplies like some bread, beer, a bottle of rum and/or coke, shampoo, water or a snack. A mini supermarket in the area would make a killing!
Pool area is nice as well as roof top lounge
