Guest Reviews
- Lurinda (6/5): - Way up a dirt road- stop by and get what you need before heading up
Positive: in the country- nice view
Negative: limited heating or cooling
And way out of town
- Blanche (10/5): Yellowstone Trip - The cabin was 5 miles up the mountain from Gardiner, MT. It was a 2 bedroom with full kitchen & even a washer/dryer. View from cabin was beautiful. Gardiner was a nice little town & only a mile from North Entrance of Yellowstone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a quiet out of the way location with beautiful views.
- CS (10/5): - The views were magnificent. I also liked the fact there was a washer and a dryer in the cabin.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cozy cabin - Cabin was as advertised, clean and cozy. Lovely views and close to Yellowstone entrance. A bit remote-5 miles up dirt road from town but got used to it quickly. If you stay here make sure to stop by owner’s office first or you may have trouble finding it.
- Maria (10/5): - AMAZING! cried when we had to leave. Will definitely be back
- Thomas (10/5): - Recommended, very close to Yellowstone Park North entrance, great location, great conditions and amenities with Internet and Flat screen TV, full bathroom and kitchen, as well as a washing machine and dryer. Great staff!
- Jay (10/5): - Beautiful, serene location! Incredible views all around.
- Jerry (10/5): Top notch on top a mountain - Owner met us when we arrived. An employee escorted us to our cabin by using a lead vehicle to drive up the mountain roads. He even unloaded our car for us and gave us a tour of the cabin.
The owner took a personal interest in us. He was very friendly and attentive to our needs.
The view was beautiful. Our cabin was in a mountain community with an abandoned gold mine. Although we couldn't go near the mine, we researched it on the web. It was very cool. There were also hiking trails near the cabin that were park of the state's hiking system.
As for the cabin, it had air conditioning and heat (we used both), kitchen with small refridgerator and range, free wifi and satelite T.V. and a washer and dryer.
It was very quiet and relaxing.
- Wyoming (8/5): - After check in at the office they take ya to your place. They have no other cares. Will ask of they can help woth anything else. Wifi didnt work at all durin my few days there. Which they knew about before departing from showin me to the place. I find out my last night i should of been given the option to be in a different cabin where the wifi did work. The boy who took me to my cabin said he didnt want any of the feedback he just takes people to their cabins nothing else.
The webpapge for the cabins wasent very up-to-date with everything offered either. Im only sayin they could get more business if everyone was on the same page and did actually care about the customer rather than money.
I would never stay in any of their cabins in the winter. Only had 2 really small eletric heaters. Those 2 barely did the job warmin it up on nights it was down to 34!
- diane (6/5): Not what we signed up for - we were supposed to have a cabin 6 miles out of Gardiner but were given a "condo" in Gardener that was as nice as a Quality Inn or Comfort IN at $90-125 but were charged over $300 a night for the cabin and they only said "no refunds" We did not expect a refund but think some sort of reduction would have been appropriate . The "condo was really a motel room and had very few amenities...kitchen was not supplied well and we got one towel each for 3 days and nobody ever came to clean the room or check if we needed anything and when we went to "office" there was nobody there and the only employee we dealt with spoke little English and could not help us with trying to get the heat on and it took 3 hours before someone showed up....not a good experience
- Kim (6/5): More cons than pros - First, do not stay in these cabins if you don't have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. There is a significant climb to get up to the cabins. ON the plus side the view is wonderful. While the cabin was clean, we were constantly killing moths. We had four people in a two bedroom cabin and there was a table with only two chairs. While the furnishings in the cabin are very modern, there was no living space at all.
Also, in the directory they provided it said that we would get daily maid service. WE stayed there three nights and no maid service. Not a major thing. Also, we were told there would be a gas grill. There was no grill and every time we used the small stove the smoke alarm would go off. IF you ever wanted to do a trial run of Tiny House Big Living, this is the place for you.
- Cheryl (8/5): Yellowstone Mountain Stay - We were excited to see Yellowstone and stay in the mountains at night to view the stars. If you are looking for an out of the way place to stay then the Yellowstone mountain cabins are for you. We did find that the drive to the cabins was a bit far so be prepared for a winding twisting five mile journey from Gardiner. This wouldn't have been a problem but the very narrow drive up the steep incline to reach the cabins was. If you are planning on using the cabins be sure to rent or bring a high profile vehicle like a Jeep, Truck or SUV. Only one car at a time to the top and not much parking so plan on only one vehicle too if you bring friends.
The cabin was very nice. My husband and I had plenty of room. We enjoyed the view and the stars at night. We never saw a single wild animal at the cabin or on our way up to the cabin. Wished we did. Enjoyed that there was a washer and dryer just remember before you head to the top stock up on groceries and what ever you may need to wash dishes or cloths.
We also had the pleasure of spending a couple of days in the Yellowstone Condos & Suites. We very much enjoyed these as they were in town and right outside the North Entrance to the Park. If you don't like up hill driving to a steep drive up in the hills the Condos are a better choice for you.
- Joy (8/5): Secluded cabin on a mountainside. - Cute cabin just a few miles out of Gardiner in the town of Jardine. Very well appointed with plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. The cabin even had toiletries and a hair dryer which was a nice touch. The cabin owner was very accommodating and gave us his cell number in case we had any problems. Lovely views of the town of Jardine and the hills. On a clear night you could see stars for days.
Gardiner is a cute town just North of the entrance to Yellowstone with restaurants and adventure businesses like River Rafting, Zip Lining and Horse Riding. All the locals were super nice and friendly. There's a local grocery store where you can buy everything you need for your stay.
The cabin would be better if there were a grill. The owner told us there wasn't one because of fire hazards but the cabins on either side that he also owns had propane gas grills so I'm not sure what that was about.
- Valerie (8/5): Peaceful cabins - The cabin we were in was older and rustic which added the charm to the cabin. It was in the Mountains about a 5 to 10 minute drive from town. It had very nice views and pretty sun rises. The staff came every other day to grab your trash, but if you needed anything you could call and they would take care of you. Really nice guy. Make sure you have everything you need. This is not like a hotel. They don't have turned down service or amenities like a Hotel. Which is what we were looking for. No one to disturb you just peace and quiet. The entry in to Yellowstone on this end is very busy. If you do not want to wait a long time in line. I would suggest getting into the park by 7am.
- Catherine (10/5): Nice alternative to a standard hotel room - It was a very cute cabin with great views. We could even see Yellowstone from our deck. It was farther outside of town than We initially realized but it didn't prove to be a problem. This was our first visit to Yellowstone and we loved staying by North entrance to the park after having initially entered through the crowded west entrance.
- Lucille (4/5): Never again. - When I looked at the pictures for this cabin, I believed that all cabins would be as nicely appointed. Not so. If you rent the 3 bedroom, you get the hot tube, lovely kitchen, living room, multi tiered deck. If you rent the 2 bedroom, you get a hovel. Two bedrooms, no dressers, kitchen with table for 2 not 4, bathroom with hot water tank over vanity sink...watch your head standing up. No living room or even a place for all of us to sit. Four plates in the cabinet, dorm refrigerator also included. Grill had fuel but not a tool to cook with after we cleaned it for what was probably the first time. I have read other reviews and read the same complaints from others so nothing will change. Spend your money someplace else.
- Lee (6/5): Not as advertised - The cabin was not as advertised. It was advertised to have a washer and dryer but it did not. A washer and dryer in the cabin was one reason I chose the cabin. There were also many code violations with the cabin, i.e. there were wires exposed in the bathroom behind the shower wall and in the kitchen area and no face plate on the outlet in the bathroom that was 9 inches from the toilet and it was an improper outlet for its location. I would not recommend this cabin especially if you have children. It is difficult to get ahold of staff. Also once the trash can is full there is no where to put it due to no bear proof container outside.
- Tracy Melton (2/5): bait and switch - Cabin offered on site and pictures are NOT what you get. The "cabin" was actually two sheds attached with exposed wires, no sink in the bathroom, boarded up windows, and holes in the floor. Truly a terrible experience, one I hope other families don't experience as it's not easy to find last minute acccomodations in Yellowstone during the summer.
- jason (8/5): Remote, quiet cabin with great views - There are not a lot of luxurious accommodations when your intent is to be within nature. This cabin is very basic but checks all the boxes. Remote, quiet, basic needs. Consider bringing your own pillows if you want something more than a pancake to lay your head on, bed is comfy. They don't clean or restock but every 3 days. Kids used fold out couch and it didn't meet their needs as the mattress is way too thin. wouldn't recommend the fold out for more than one night. Loved the town and access to all of the activities. The driveway can be a challenge.
- Luanne (10/5): Our Little Mountain Cabin - Wen were so pleasantly surprised with our little mountain cabin. The view was amazing from the deck. Albeit we didn't see any wildlife except for a small herd of elk on our way out, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We did have to do a little rearranging of the furniture so we could watch tv in the living room comfortably but that was no trouble at all. I loved that it has a washed and dryer as I did end up doing a small load of laundry. One thing we would suggest is it would be wonderful if there were some sort of barbecue grill. With that lovely deck area and that beautiful it would have been wondrful to have been able to grill out. I would DEFINITELY recommend a stay at Yellowstone Mountain Cabins.
- Brianna (8/5): Beautiful drive, quiet retreat from the busy park! - This was a great place to stay! Staff was nice and responsive, the area was serene and our family was able to make it "home" for the time we were there. I would caution people with low riding vehicles to use caution when booking. Our car made it up the drive every time but the road ended up knocking off our undercarriage.
- Miguel (10/5): Secluded cabin in the Mountains - Amazing view, very secluded. The cabin is about 5 miles into the Gallatin National Forest from Gardiner, MT. We came across wild animals every night on our way back up to the cabin - elk, bison, and deer. We loved that it has a kitchen and a fridge. This helped us save money on food while we visited Yellowstone National Park. This is not like a hotel, they only change out the trash, but the owner was very friendly and provided us with everything that we needed - laundry detergent, batteries for the remote controls, etc. Great cabin and location if you are looking for secluded getaway.
- Alan (4/5): cabin stay - We were given a cabin by Burton, the owner of Victorian Inn, in Gartiner, Mt.. Per our reservation, we were to be given an 800 sq ft cabin with living room, dining room, kitchen with a dishwasher, pillowtop bed with Egyptian sheets, a desk and deepsoaking tub in the bathroom. We received a cabin that was half that size, no living, no dining room, no dishwasher, no pillowtop bed with Egyptian sheets, no desk and no tub of any kind in the bathroom. The next day, we went back to the Victorian Inn and asked for Burton. He was not there or able to be contacted. We asked for the cabin we were suppose to have and one was not available. The office person contacted the manager and they offered a discount of $75.00 credit card credit toward our 2 day stay. We were celebrating our anniversary and were very disappointed in the small cabin they gave. We felt we should have been given our NICE reserved cabin in the first place and not just a small credit. This is the first time we have used Hotel.com for lodging and were not impressed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet retreat 5 miles into the mountains. - We had a private escort to our cabin. We were a little surprised that it was so far out of town but once there we were pleased with the view, space and quiet.
- William m (6/5): Road to cabin is not paved 5 miles up , scary rd - I was shown a different cabin on Internet one with hot tub was given a tiny one with no tub bedroom was like sleeping in. Closet
- NY girl (4/5): Small cabin high up in the mountain. - Very small clean, neat cabin. No living room as advertised. Only fits 2 people comfortably. At the end of a steep dirt road. Terrible kitchen where smoke alarm went off each time we cooked. Ill equipped rooms, no dressers, no hooks. Pleasant owner who said he will improve the cabin. He gave us a free dinner after we complained.
- Robert (10/5): Quiet mountain getaway - Perfect for my family, private cabin on a ridge over looking Jardine, Montana. It was quiet, peaceful, relaxing, and enjoyable. The hardest part was leaving.
- Peter (10/5): Amazing mountain retreat just north of Yellowstone - Not an hotel but an amazing cabin way out in the mountains, with beautiful views and no light pollution. Burton, the builder/owner is justifiably proud of what he has achieved. I wouldn't like to drive up to Jardine in the dark and if you are looking for a traditional hotel with hotel service it is not for you (service mark reflects this and is no way a criticism). But as a self-catering get-away I can only say that it would be difficult to beat. Superb!
- LA-Foal (10/5): Great cabin, great view on the Yellowstone River. - We loved the stay in a cabin. The view on the Yellowstone river was great. The cabin came with all the basic needs plus satellite TV, internet, washer and dryer.
Staff came one a day to clean out trash and even fixed issues which we haven't even reported.
- Jody (10/5): - Very nice - definitely out of the way. The driveway was a little nerve-wracking. Wifi was slow and spotty. Need a few more cooking items - baking pan, more dishtowels- but overall a great stay.
Difficult to view tv in main room given the heavy sleeper sofa directly under the tv. An additional comfortable chair would be helpful.
Would definitely stay again.
- wendy (2/5): No for next trip - Water running very small in kitchen, told officer, but no fix. Space is smaller than hotel in Manhattan, design is not suitable, hit everyone's head. Mountain cabin is more than 5 miles away on the mountain with no paved road, some road is one car only, very narrow. wifi on and off, very weak, even can not search map to set up GPS, no phone service available.
- Gary (6/5): The Good and the Bad! - The photos are misleading as our cabin looked nothing like those on the website. There must be a few different cabins with differing amenities, furnishings, and layouts. Ours had a nice washer and dryer. Curtains on the bedroom window were transparent, and no cover on the bathroom window. Our "sofa" in the living room was probably a futon bed and non-functional for sitting. We slept in the bedroom with the quiet bed and the working TV, but the bed was not all that comfortable. No closet, but a rolling rack for hanging clothes in the hallway. Our cabin was in a remote location about 15 to 20 minutes up a dirt road. Some privately owned cabins were well maintained, but others looked very run down. After arrival, we discovered that we had no washcloths, only one hand towel, and only two small bars of soap. All to last us for three days because maid service is only every three days. We couldn't call the front desk to have those items delivered because our cell phones didn't work and there was no phone in our cabin. In fairness, however, we stopped by the office in town the next day and washcloths, hand towels, and more soap were promptly delivered. One reviewer was not happy with the heat, however our cabin had a good heater in the hallway which warmed all the rooms. TVs in each bedroom, but could only get one to work, and none in the living room. Artwork was "interesting". We had four cloth pennants covered in plastic which were all the same - a moose.
- James (10/5): - Clean and Private.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice cabin in very pretty area. Clean cabin. Fun to have refrigerator and freezer and microwave.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Crazy cabin really in boondocks - Our cabin was fine but a strange set up. Terrible road to get there. No place to sit to watch tv unless you take chairs into bedroom or sit on bed on other room. Can not sit outside late in the day or at night. We had a fox on the porch and you are advised not to go out at night because of bears. Too bad because the night sky was beautiful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Ok cabin but cheap heating and bed - The cabin was Ok with good views and nice amenities But one of the bed was too wobbly. A bed sheet is not blanket and it gets cold at night in the area they should know it. One of the bed was wobbly and metallic. Window curtains were terrible. Worst of all was Heating. The heater was so pathetic that it couldn't even heat 1ft area around it.
- Mary (8/5): Beautiful private location - Loved the location and how cute the cabin was. We did have a mouse, but that wasn't really that big of a deal to us. The bed and couch were not comfortable. The cabin itself was clean and roomy and felt like a home away from home.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The good thing about this place is that it is truly mountain cabin
The bad things are:
We had to chase mice
No fire alarm or fire hose
Weeds that are half body tall increasinng risk of snakes
Cheep bending and towl
No paper towel to clean after eating
And arrogant mid western host who is not helpful
- Heidi (10/5): Fantastic Little Cabin in Jardine, MT - This little cabin was wonderful. We were right across from Bear Creak (fishable) about 5 miles north of Gardner, MT, very private and we'll equipped!! Surprised to find spices and a washer and dryer!!! We loved it and will recommend it to friends heading out that way!! Lots of wild life and the star show was amazing!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Gardiner is the place to be. The owner was helpful - If you are trying to decide which YS entrance to stay at, Gardiner is absolutely wonderful. The cabin was nice, a little far out, but not too bad.
- Family of 5 (4/5): NOT close to Yellowstone - The cabin is 8 miles outside of Gardiner, look for Jardin on the map. The 8 miles is on a dirt road that takes 20 minutes to drive. At registration you have to wait around to follow a guide to the cabin. It is NOT by a river and there is definitely no view. Kitchen barely has cooking pans, no baking pizza on a cookie sheet. Bed is in the living room, no couch for sitting. Fold out bed is a pad on the floor and does not come with bedding. No washer or dryer either. For the money we paid, wished we had , stayed in a hotel right in Gardiner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fun secluded location - The location was awesome! Totally secluded up in the mountains but still an easy drive to the park
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away from this place - 1 there is a $50 fee if you are late.
2 you check in one location and have to wait for the hotel staff to come and escort you to the cabin, which in our case took 20 minutes.
3 the road to the cabin is a really bad dirt road and extremely dangerous specially at night, you need a good SUV.
4 The location of the cabin is in a abandoned town and opposite to a mine
do your family a favor if you want to stay in a cabin choose a better location.
- Sally (8/5): In true Montana away from the madding crowds - Fantastic stay and kids loved it
Well equipped with good outdoor gas bar b q
Would be good to have had instructions for dishwasher as you had to connect it to the kitchen tap to work it
Lovely quiet spot and easy drive up to it ( about 20 mins from Gardiner) with beautiful scenery. Definitely nicer than staying in the cabins in Yellowstone park which are very modern and next to busy roads, shops etc
- Verified traveler (4/5): Remote mountain cabin with no staff on site. - Access was over a very rough road into the mountains. To check in, I had to call and it took ~15 minutes for someone to drive us to let us in. The supposed fold-out bed was essentially a short mattress on the floor. There was not blanket for that mattress.
Please see my later review for the stay on July 20. We were scheduled to return to the cabin. However, the owner provided instead a lovely, very convenient house on the Yellowstone River right in Gardiner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The owner came through. - After an earlier unhappy stay at one of the mountain cabins, upon our return, the owner provided us a very nice house right on the Yellowstone River in Gardiner.
- Lisa (8/5): Far from Yellowstone Entrance with No Cell Service - The cabins are comfortably furnished with a full-size washer and dryer. They are located 5 miles from the town, but due to the road leading to the cabin being unpaved and full of potholes for most of the way, this drive takes 20 minutes. The road leading to the cabin is unlit and winding and goes up a mountain, so the trip to the cabin at night can be treacherous. If you are looking to get away from civilization, this is the place. However, we were looking for a place to stay close to the Yellowstone National Park north entrance, so we would have chosen a place closer to Gardiner itself and the park, if we had known the location of these cabins.
There is no phone service once you leave Gardiner, so if you get lost, which is easy to do since the cabins have no signs to identify them, or have a problem at the cabin, there is no way to call. We drove out to the cabin thinking that we would check in at the cabin site. When we got to the cabins, we found a number to call. Since we didn't have phone service, we had to drive back into town to call. We were told that we should have been informed by Hotels.com that check-in for the cabin is at a hotel in town. We were not informed of this. Make sure you call from Gardiner otherwise you will have a 20 minute drive up to the cabin and a 20 minute drive back into town before you can check in!
- Jeannette (10/5): Great mountain cabin - This was a very nice, cozy, well equipped cabin in the mountain. We were accompanied to our cabin by a staff member, which was nice as it was rather remote. Loved the view, I would love to stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Rundown cabins - Very disappointed. The cabins are not at all what is displayed on the Expedia Web site. Electric plugs are not covered in bathroom. Cables from TV and cable box are not hidden. Cabin is 6 miles away from Gardiner at the end of a 5 miles dirt road. Building around the cabins are falling in disarray. Completely overpriced.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cabin close to Yellowstone but away from the crowd - Cabins are outside of Gardiner about a 15 minute drive up the mountain. Road is gravel but adequately maintained. There is a nice market in Gardiner for supplies/groceries. Be sure to note that you check in in Gardiner, they have someone go up with you to show you around. Cabins are close together, but that caused no issue for us. Great wi-fi and TV, and our cabin had a washer/dryer. My family spent a day on the mountain above the cabin enjoying the trails and seeing basically no people which was a nice change from Yellowstone which was crowded.
- Pam (8/5): Staff excellent - Staff member Jason very helpful! Although we booked a cabin, an unexpected plumbing issue arose. He was very responsive and arranged for us to spend night in their beautiful Victorian Inn.
- Pam (8/5): Secluded get-away - It was quite a bit of a trip up the mountain; however the privacy and wildlife was great. The cabin was very well equipped and comfortable beds. We had difficulty with the heat in the cabin (it was on when it was supposed to be off). There was no cell service. It was extremely clean.
- Greg (10/5): beautiful mountain location - We saw a lot of wild life neat the cabin and while traveling to and from. Very close ro Ywllow stone north gate.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very minimal at best. Too little for the price. The cabin was hot. Too little air conditioning for the space.
- Sabine (10/5): - Best cabin ever. The staff was so friendly and the cabin was just amazing! Only wish I could have stayed longer!
- vaca (2/5): Not as represented in pictures - No couch and no washer/dryer. Poor craftsmanship in cabin. Smoke detectors laying on top of cupboards. Not worth the money!!!
- Pat (10/5): Nice cabin near Yellowstone - We were incredibly pleased with our stay at Yellowstone Cabin #1 this past week.
The cabin was on a road up above the city of Gardiner, MT and just outside the
park. The cabin had two bedrooms (each with a satellite TV and double bed),
a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, sink, stove, microwave, toaster, table,
chairs, and dinnerware. The bathroom included a toilet, shower/tub, and sink
with hair dryer in the cabinet underneath. There was a stacked washer/dryer combo
and laundry detergent. While having all the amenities of home, we were just a
few feet from the rushing waters of Bear Creek. The owner came to check on
us and told us about walking up the road a bit to gain access to the creek
and to view the amazing night sky with shooting stars. Park access was easy
and the views of animals, mountains, and waterfalls were all amazing.
This was definitely one of our best vacations ever.
- Toni (8/5): Very nice cabin in the mountains - This was a great experience. It's a ways out from everything but that's not all bad either. The view was great and the accommodations well thought out. My only concern was privacy. Although there were only a couple of other cabins close, there were no curtains you could close in the windows of the doors and one of those was in a bedroom. We used the back bedroom for that reason, but if you needed both bedrooms, it could be a problem.
- Susie (8/5): Very nice way to experience the great outdoors - The cabin had everything you need to have the experience of being in the great outdoors without being too rustic. The view was just beautiful and the check in people were very nice. You check in in the town then follow a guide 5 miles up a dirt road to the cabins. A rushing river in late May just across the road.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Keep looking - Can't get to cabin unless you have 4wd.
- Wendy (6/5): Call before you book - This was the strangest experience ever. I will admit that this was my fault for not catching the fact that we were supposed to check in in town rather than at the property. (I do not see this info on Hotels.com now, which is why I suggest calling ahead of time.) It took 15-20 minutes to get to the property due to the extremely pot-holed gravel road. There are no signs to direct you to the cabins nor any sign at the property itself to indicate that this is Yellowstone Mountain Cabins. Based on the address number at the road we finally figured this must be the place. There was no contact phone number or information of any sort in the cabin. Since wifi required a password which we did not have, I could not even go to the web to look up the phone number. It took us a long time to figure out how to operate the TV as there were no instructions. We did use the washer and dryer which was nice. Most everything for cooking and dining was provided, although there did not appear to be any kitchen towels. Some of the furniture was very nice, for instance, the log-style bed and porch furniture, so it has the potential for coming across as a really cute place. But it didn't really come across that way. For one thing, all the pictures are hung too high on the wall. Some written info and contact number at the cabin would be helpful. This could have been a much more pleasant experience if we had checked in in town, but this was info I missed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cabin inaccesible unless have 4WD - Cabin inaccesible to non 4 WD vehicle which would have been helpful to know before booking. Ended up being accommodated at much less expensive condo but not refunded the difference. Had to fix slow drain on shower. Had to buy own paper goods for condo as well. Even before this had issue with Hotels.com due to booking snafu. Will not use Hotels.com in future.
- Jenny (10/5): Wonderful Getaway with Amazing Views - The Yellowstone Mountain Cabin that my boyfriend and I stayed at over the weekend was fantastic. It was very clean and had everything we could have asked for and more. The cabin was in a remote location that was surrounded by beautiful scenery which just made our trip even more memorable. The drive to the cabin was also breathtaking with the spectacular 360 degree views. Also, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. I would highly recommend staying at one of these cabins when exploring and enjoying the unforgettable Yellowstone National Park. I will definitely stay here again :).
- Daniel (8/5): very nice place - We booked a two day stay at the cabins about a week ago. I promised I would write a review to the owner and I am a man of my word, so here is my very first review in 48 years of a cabin/hotel. (At least a good one lol). We showed up around 830 pm after an all day trip to Yellowstone and were met by Jay, who was SUPER nice. He insisted that we get some dinner and then he took us up the 5 mile dusty gravel road to the cabin. Not scary but definitely interesting and bumpy. We were like only 1/4 mile from the very end of the road. Just like you want to get away from it all. Our cabin was small but definitely cozy. It looks likes a log cabin from the outside but the inside is more like a hotel room. Not that that was bad, just giving info. Everything was there you could possibly need, we even grilled out the second evening. We lacked for nothing, and truly enjoyed our stay. We even locked the front door by accident (well, my wife did), but luckily the owner was there attending to one of his other cabins, and he was able to unlock the door for us. Thank goodness! It would have been a long trip down the mountain walking. You are truly AWAY from it all in the cabins. I recommend that the owner hide a spare key and tell guests where it is hidden or change the door lock because you could never really tell if the door was locked or not. We recommend this cabin highly, just don't expect a log cabin type of feel inside. Thanks again for our stay.
- Billy Tolbert (10/5): Yellowstone Visit - I would stay at these cabins again. Good location but a bit far from the main town on a winding gravel road. Excellent view and quiet. Anyone who stays there will certainly enjoy the visit. Should stay more than one night. I would suggest that the management create an information booklet on the finer points of the cabins. Such as, what to do with the garbage, how to operate the tv, emergency telephone numbers and points of interest.
- Thom (8/5): Rustic Fun - We had a great time here, the owner and the staff were very helpful. Relaxing setting. Look up the area on Google, lots of history. You can see Mammoth Hot springs from the road.
- natalie (2/5): Disgusting for the price - This place was very disappointing. We paid over $600 for 2 nights and it definitely did not come close to the price. There is no view, there are bug splatters everywhere, hundreds of dead bugs in the lights, blood stains on one of the duvets, 2 out of 3 heaters didn't work and it was freezing in the basement, there was no dish washer or dish soap to wash crockery/cutlery with, the place hadn't looked like it was cleaned, overall, the people who own this property clearly do not want repeat business. Horrible on every level!!!
- M. James Hickey (10/5): It is not a hotel - The ratings do not allow me to accurately describe the Yellowstone cabin. It is not a convenient drive but it is a wonderful mountain cabin. The view from the cabin is beautiful. The cabin contains everything that one could want for a short or long stay. I left the quality of hotel service blank because we did not stay in a hotel ; we stayed in a wonderful mountain cabin. Do your self a favour and skip all of the hotels and motels near Gardiner and book the cabin. You have to drive some 7 kilometers out of town ( 4.3 miles or so) but the drive takes you away from the hustle of a lovely tourist town and lets you enjoy the natural beauty of Montana.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Remote cabin near a nice town and YP entrance - My husband and I were staying 3 nights in Gardiner so wanted something different than a hotel, so reserved a cabin. We found the office and owner easily. We got our groceries before going up the hill, only forgetting to buy coffee and paper towels. The cabin has pots/pans/dishes/soap and bathroom towels. We never saw any wildlife near the cabin, but saw plenty in the park. The road was so rough we only wanted to go down/up once a day. Cabin came with wifi and dish tv that worked great.
- prasad (8/5): 20 minutes from Yellowstone north entrance - Five of us stayed, thanks to the extra roll-away bed provided at no extra cost, comfortably in the cabin. It is located up in the mountain about 20 minutes from the north entrance of the Yellowstone park. Though the wifi is spotty, the satellite tv is a nice touch. Kitchen, cooking vessels, bathroom, washing machines, etc,. are as expected. The bed-sheets and comforters could be better! They seem quite old.
Since it is located on a hilly location, I would recommend a vehicle with 4-wheel drive if snow is on the ground. Perhaps, that goes for the yellowstone park itself! The owner is nice and helpful in recommending the grocery stores and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well equipped cabins. Bed arrangements in one of the cabins not quite adequate for 3 guests (sofa bed sub-standard).
- Eva (6/5): Nice and quiet, but... - Very nice owner, Burton, who will pick you up down at the Victorian Inn.
- ak (10/5): Great views! - We loved our cabin stay. It is 5 miles from town but you drive up a gorgeous valley and get away from all the touristy parts of the closet town - Gardner. We enjoyed its remote location and the cabin was well equipped and newly done. It even had free internet access!
- howard (6/5): Nice cabin close to yellow stone. - No direction on how to optain key to facility and instruction on how to disposed of garbage.
