• Verified traveler (10/5): personnel extremement serviable - J'etais a Besancon pour le travail et, a mon arrivee, j'ai eu un probleme de chargeur avec mon ordinateur. Le gerant de l'hotel s'est veritablement mis en quatre pour m'aider a resoudre mon probleme et il a ete incroyablement serviable. La chambre etait propre et spacieuse, ainsi que la salle de bain. Hotel tres accessible de la gare, en plein centre ville. Restaurants malheureusement fermes.
• Arnstein (10/5): Koselig intimt hotell - Et veldig sjarmerende lite hotell, med kanskje 15 rom fordelt over 3 etasjer. Nyoppussede rom, rent og pent, helt grei enkel frokost. For prisen et utrolig bra sted! Veldig hyggelig betjening.
• Philippe (4/5): décevant et petit déjeuné cher pour ce qu’il est - arrivé à la réception le réceptionniste termine longuement un appel personnel et me voyant impatient (j’avais des rendez-vous professionnel) me dit : asseyez-vous je termine mon appel !!!! après un bon 10mn il s’occupe de mois et me dit que le petit déjeuné est à 14€ si j’avais eu connaissance du petit déjeuné je ne l’aurai pas pris même en formule 1 il est plus copieux très déçu de cet hotel je n’y retournerai pas

• Guy E (6/5): - A 3 star hotel without a 24 hour desk. The front doors are locked during the mid-day until 2 or 3 pm, not really sure. The front door is on a narrow walkway beside the river that is used by many single men; sitting, eating, drinking. Also, that front door and walkway face the very hot afternoon sun. The hotel is totally run by one man who also runs two restaurants that open to the other side of the building (the plaza) and it seems he is a primary cook for those restaurants. The restaurant kitchens are in the basement and exhaust their kitchens to the front door walkway. Breakfast is very minimal. Room was small, clean and quiet. The location is very good, in the heart of Besancon.
• Fredrik (8/5): Bra hotell i fransk stad - Trevligt hotell i Besancon. Fin utsikt över floden och trevliga rum. Frukosten helt ok (12 euro) och hotellet har två restauranger. Vi åt dock på annat ställe…tyst och lugnt på rummet/i huset. Billig parkering i p-hus i närheten!

• Rémi (10/5): Super hôtel d'une rare propreté à Besançon - Deux nuits parfaites dans cet hôtel charmant. Les chambres sont spacieuses et très propres. Le gérant serviable et agréable. Le petit déjeuner simple, mais efficace, avec la possibilité d'avoir des oeufs brouillés sur demande. La localisation est idéale. Les fenêtres bien isolées, donc le calme réside dans la chambre.

Propre, pdj ok avec possibilité d'avoir de vrais oeufs, proche du centre à pied. le parking à proximité prend 1€ seulement pour la nuit. Seul bémol, le lit de la chambre simple est vraiment fait pour une seule personne, pas très grande Et le pdj à partir de 6h30 au lieu de 7h serait un plus pour moi. j'y retournerai sans problème

Il n'y a pas d'accès en voiture car l'hotel est situé en zone à circulation restreinte. Mais un parking (public et un euros la nuit) se situe à 200m. Accueil et petit déjeuner correct.

The room was clean and reasonably priced with excellent air conditioning. The location is perfect and central to this very interesting area of Besancon. parking available close by at parking Pasteur if you have a car. Both the Hotel Vauban and this beautiful city are highly recommended. We really enjoyed our stay.

J’y retournerais. Il est bien situé pour explorer Besançon. J’étais un peu inquiet de voir des vagabonds proche de l’entrée de l’hôtel, mais l’entrée est quand même secure, et je n’ai pas eu de soucis. L’hôtel en soi est très sympa !

• Kelly (6/5): - For other travellers from North America who are arriving by car: Besancon is confusing to get around in a vehicle as the streets are narrow, not on a grid pattern, and a lot of them are one way. For this hotel it’s easier to set your gps to parking nearby (200m-500m) and walk over to the hotel bringing your luggage with you. There is currently construction in the area of the hotel, so it makes it more difficult to manoeuvre around by car. The front door is clear we buzzed in using the small silver button on the speaker beside the door with the hotel name on it. The reception area often doesn’t have anyone there and there is no signage or bell to alert anyone that you need assistance so be prepared to wait for 20 minutes. There were small white flies in our room but they were not bothersome and mostly stayed by the window. Other than the above mentioned the hotel was adequate.

• Peter (8/5): Zentrale Lage im Herzen von Besancon - Wunderschönes, total renoviertes Hotel in den alten Gebäuden von Besancon. Alles fußläufig erreichbar. Einzig die Zufahrt zum Hotel ist etwas abenteuerlich.
• Bernard (8/5): Un week end à Besançon - Hôtel bien situé dans la partie historique de la ville et non loin du tramway. La ville elle-même est superbe avec ses vieilles maison du 17 et 18ème siècle munies d'escaliers extérieurs et de galeries. Les portes cochères sont ouvertes en semaine ce qui laisse le loisir d'admirer l'architecture. Voir aussi la citadelle et le beau musée consacré au temps en en fait à l'horlogerie.
• Tomohiro (10/5): VAUBANの名前に惹かれて宿泊 - 広場の前で立地が素晴らしい。駐車場は徒歩5分の公共パーキングが数ユーロで利用できる。部屋は広く静かでとにかくきれいだった。広場で学生たちが深夜まで盛り上がっていたが、それに気づかないくらい防音はしっかりしていた。Wi-Fiも良好でカードキーも携帯できて便利。オーナーも親切な対応で、文句のつけどころの無いホテルでした。
• Tristan (10/5): La nuit parfaite à Besançon ! - Hôtel sur le quai du Doubs, situation idéale pour visiter Besançon. A proximité, tout à pieds, cinéma, restaurants. Chambre tout confort très bien isolée et climatisée si besoin. Nous avons été accueillis fort amicalement et mon fils a particulièrement apprécié le petit-déjeuner avec l'option "oeuf à la coque". On ne peut que souhaiter y re-séjourner !

• Carol (10/5): Don't miss this unassuming gem! - Hotel is in a fantastic location with the river on one side and an interesting street on the other. Our initial booking for one night was unexpectedly extended to four and we can't fault the service we have received here. There is no bar or restaurant within the hotel but step outside and the choice is amazing within a few meters. The Hotel Vauban offers continental breakfast with a good selection. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the bathrooms extremely modern. We feel very fortunate to have found this unassuming gem.

Located the best, not tourist and not overly expensive restaurants. Helped to organize visits to sights. Answered all questions. They gave very personal service to everyone. Definitely a hotel I would stay ata again.
• mathieu (10/5): The Perfect Hotel - This is the hotel we are all looking for. Friedly, clean, perfectly organized and located. Right downtown Besançn, where you want to be. Only issue : parking is quite a challenge. But it would be the same for any hotel located downtown in Besançon.

• Hester (10/5): Bijou but brilliant - Located on the quayside and within easy walking distance of shops , bars and restaurants, Hotel Vaubin was a little treasure. The room wasn't huge but the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was beautifully appointed. Special commendation goes to the hair dryer which was a "proper " one and not one of those hideous fitted ones which most women loathe! We didn't eat in the hotel but the facilities looked clean and pleasant and the staff member who dealt with us couldn't have been more charming and helpful. Parking was in the local public carpark and was only 1€ per night. If I were to return to this area I would most certainly book Vaubin again.
