Guest Reviews
- Guitze (10/5): Very confy with superb beachfront breakfast. Enjoy - I had a great stay at Turtle Lagoon Beach, the owner and his personnel were very attentive. I found out that some young kids had an issue with the hotel and they left negative reviews which are all unfounded. The hotel has the best setting for breakfast at Playa Bonita right in front of the beach. The room is cozzy with good AC and hot shower. We did not use the TV yet it had the channels that most would want. If you want to be within walking distance to great restaurants or just relax at the beach, this hotel is great and will be a good venue to explore the rest of Samana. It certainly deserves better ratings and that is why I want to make sure that other visitors get to enjoy this nice hotel.
- Raul (6/5): - Hotel needs TLC. You get what you pay for.
- RONALD (8/5): - Well located at the beach, when we arrived they had problems with their payment platform and we had to pay in cash
- Ana (8/5): - Great Location, right at the beach, within walking distance to Playa bonita. Options for surfers are plentiful, as well as bars and restaurants.
The only downside of the hotel are the rooms. They should definitely be renovated and updated.
- Udo (4/5): - We left some swimsuites in the balkony. They disappeared for good. We are sure that they were taken by the hotel staff. On our inquiry, the hotel management did not pay sufficient attention to this very unpleasant situation. We will never return to this place with its unprofessional staff!
- julio (10/5): - Excellent reception service, food is good and very happy and nice staff .
- ROBERT (10/5): - Nice place, walk to a nice beach, fiendly, good food. Affortable. 👌👍
- Peter (8/5): - Really nice property at a GREAT location!
- Diana Marie (10/5): - Very nice!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great experience. Friendly staff. Didn’t feel like the cliché tourist resorts. It Felt really authentic. And they were dog friendly!
- Jennifer (10/5): I give this hotel 5 stars - I went their with my son and we had a wonderful stay, the staff was amazing so was the food.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - All Good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I totally recommend this hotel, staff was very pleasant, very clean hotel, breakfast was very good.
- Carlos (6/5): A breakfast to remember! - I had to take my breakfast in a bag bacause they took more than 30 minutes to serve it. They forgot to add sugar to the passion fruit juice. There were so many people angry, yelling at the manager for not being ready. The reservations include breakfast. Having hungry guests should not have been a surprise. I like that location of the hotel, but thats it.
- Richard (6/5): Average hotel great location - Property is nice. Beach is good. Wifi is pretty much non-existent. Haven't been able to get any range at all. Hot water isn't too good. Room is only average.
- RAFAELFHIMA (8/5): - I loved the property, the room and pool area, but there was little service available. No restaurant to have lunch or dinner, no drinks available for purchase, no hair dryer or iron in the rooms. No staff to offer services
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bathroom was dirty, no enough water pressure, front desk and administrator were unfriendly, no tv, the only exception was the owner, she was very polite but was overruled by Laura Noblon, manager.
I booked for 4 nights but I left after the first night and the last comment from managers and front desk was “no return “
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Me gusto mucho. Cerca del mar. Desayuno excellente.
- Mag10 (8/5): - Quite, convenient, beach front hotel. Beautiful beaches.
- Tanya (8/5): - Clean and nice, but not worth the price per night, hotel is being rebuilt and there are many areas off-service. Good attention at the front desk and restaurant (breakfast). Beds were clean but too hard.
- MARISA (2/5): - I tried to send Expedia two. Complaints notifying you of the problems with the property. I am 73 and because of unsafe, slippery tile in the shower fell and luckily didn’t break anything. I have hematomas on my back and thigh (photos to prove it. Talked to the owner and front desk. They both said a mat would be forthcoming. End result 3 nights with no mat,no hot water and to try to contact you impossible as only poor internet in the lobby. I beg you, please don’t send anyone to that place it’s not safe. I was lucky to come out of there with just deep bruises. My vacation would have been ruined with a broken hip.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is only meters from the beach, which is quite beautiful. But the hotel needs some work on the rooms. My shower did not drain well. The pool water was opaque. Breakfast was OK and you had a choice of three selections. But having coffee available was problematic. Whenever there was a small container available there was a rush to get some. Biggest problem was check-in when I was given a room without a TV and an air conditioner controller without batteries. Even with new batteries it did not work. Finally after three trips to reception they found me a room with working AC and TV. The buildings themselves are nice but work needs to be done on the rooms. Bonita beach is lovely with a nice walkway in both directions from the hotel.
- Christina (6/5): Good place for the money but needs some updates - The location is great and so are the employees. Place could use some updating and the beds were hard. Takes a while to get the hot water going.
- Trudy (8/5): - I liked the quiet, pleasant atmosphere and the excellent beachfront location.
- Alejandro (8/5): Calm, clean hotel with good service - We stayed for a week in January. Nice hotel in a quiet setting, staff were helpful and very reasonable. We could see the owners and staff make an effort to keep the gardens and facilities in good condition. The hotel was undergoing some renovation, which did not affect the quality of our stay.
Piscine privatives, cadre verdoyant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location. It has potential. Needs updating. Otherwise friendly and attentive staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was beautiful! Only thing that I struggled with was communication with the staff. Many didn't understand English, let alone speak it. It was difficult to communicate. I thought a resort would be sure to hire bi-lingual employees. We were int eh off season and only stayed one night, but everything was beautiful. They didn't have extra beach towels for us, which I thought was strange since there were so few people on the property. Other than that, worth the stay and cost.
- Roger (8/5): - Lovely grounds along a beautiful beach with a welcoming and warm staff and a tasty breakfast.
- paulina (6/5): - The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating, The breakfast menu it was very poor with their products but the staff excellent. the property is already old and the pool was dirty. It didn't look like the sanitized at night
- Suzie (4/5): - We were pretty surprised to see how empty the property was. We arrived at 8 pm and no one was available to check us in, a few minutes after arrival the security officer came by and gave us the key to the room. The next morning we went to breakfast and we were one of two couples having breakfast. The staff present said it was because of low season. The beach was nice but you have to be cautious when walking in because there are rocks in the sand. The property needs a renovation.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Would not stay at this hotel - This hotel stole my money and forced me to pay double. Proof of paid confirmation was not accepted. I was told by the front person at the desk a refund would be given when they can confirm the pay confirmation from traveling site.
Will not use again.
- Kia (10/5): Nice quiet place. - This was my first trip to Las Terrennas. I loved every day of my trip. I wish i could have stayed longer. The staff was awesome, the breakfast could have been better but, I did enjoy it. I didn't know my room wasn't booked for two, so I had to pay again for my boyfiend to stay with me, which was fine. It was very peaceful, it seemed like there were very little people staying there at the time which I sort of liked. My companion and I were able to drive into town several times and I loved all the sites we got to enjoy. All in all, this was a very nice place to stay, I just forgot to take pictures of the place.
- MARC (10/5): Travel guru - This is a great little hotel on one of the best beaches in the world. The hotel is a bit aged but th rooms are clean and comfortable, the bed is hard and the water takes time to get warm. The grounds are nice and the pool is decent. The hotel staff is super nice and helpful . Don't expect anything else here you ate removed from the city and can take 10 mins by car . There is breakfast but mediocre at best th restaurant has good food and reasonable price but lacks atmosphere next to the property is the Atlantis and much better restaurant. The beach is great and also has a long walkway if you want to jog or walk along the beach. For relaxation and just getting away you can't beat it. Good pricing also.
- Franklin (8/5): Old hotel in the most beautiful beach - The hotel is located nestled in nice gardens in Playa Bonita, one of the best beaches in the area.
Hotel need some renovations but it was a very pleasant stay because the staff is extremely friendly and again the beach is awesome.
- Becky (10/5): Lovely friendly resort - This was a lovely resort with very friendly, helpful staff. The pool is lovely and big - it was nice to be able to do some proper laps, and we could here the ocean from our room. We indulged in the French toast for breakfast- absolutely delicious! There are a good few restaurants nearby so you have some choice in the evening as well
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The same breakfast every day, the lady who serve it..is not nice at all. Bathroom toilet wast'n clean, internet wifi just work at the lobby not in the room, beach is beautifull and the restaurants near are good!
- Laura (10/5): definitely making it my go to in Las Terrenas - Love this hotel, is set right in front of the beach, looks nice and clean, my daughter loves the pool and its always clean, garden is nicely maintained, rooms are simple but they have all you may need, staff is super friendly. the Beach is beyond beautiful and all the surroundings are beautiful too. definetly would recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I really like the service. All the staff were very helpful.
- Luis (6/5): Beautiful beach - Older property needs renovation beautiful beach. Considering the good and the bad. Overall value for money if you are not too demanding. Nice people
- Mmorales (8/5): Hotel in front a Beautiful beach - Hotel in front a Beautiful beach. Nice pool, friendly atmosphere.
- Josefina (10/5): Lovely!!! - very pleasant stay, the staff and the owner are very hospitable.
- Roxy (4/5): Horrible rooms... - This hotel has a great beach and that was the only good thing about it. The beds may as well have been a rock, they were extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom had a hole that lead to a hallway closet full of mosquitoes and roaches. The staff...what staff? There were only two people at the front desk during the day and no one at night. Definitely needs renovations!
- lunita (6/5): we were the only one in the hotel!! - the hotel was nice, we were the only ones there they were no more clients we stay from wed to sat. its a quiet hotel but is far away from the town they offer a nice continental breakfast.we stay hero to go to el Limon fall, it was like 30 minutes from hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great get away - we arrived early, before check in. However, they were so accommodating! We got to relax in the lounge area with a view of the pool. Very relaxing.
When we got to our room, it was very clean and comfortable. There were tiny flowers in our towels and a fresh flower arrangement. These were such nice touches. We had a nice balcony, with a bench to sit and watch nature.
We really enjoyed how near the beach we were. We enjoyed morning walks and evening sunsets. Continental breakfast was delicious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place to recharge yourself...
- Hector (8/5): Brief stay - Great value
- Laura (8/5): Safe, clean, affordable, in a beautiful location - We were a large family group with various needs--three young kids, the parents and the grandparents. For the money, this hotel provided us with a safe, clean, fairly easy place to be. Grandparents could watch the kids at the pool; those of us wanting to venture further could walk on the beach in either direction and see beautiful scenery. Hotel dining not awesome but adequate--was dying for a decent cup of coffee--luckily, next door at Hotel Atlantis, the restaurant was fantastic for that and more. It would be good to come prepared with some basic Spanish because staff, all of whom are very friendly and helpful, speak zero English.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nothing to remember - I knew from the begining it was a simple hotel. The rooms were ok, but the breakfast was sloppy, they advertise a beach but there´s no beach, you have to walk or go by car. And also there were a lot of mosquitos or aunts (not sure).
- Mark (8/5): Decent Hotel on a nice section of Playa Bonita - My second visit to the hotel and would use it again. Staff were pleasant and helpful and the included breakfast was simple and good. Bedding clean and fresh and shower had adequate hot water. Maintenance better than many Dominican hotels I have visited. Both stays were only one nighters, but I would certainly stay longer on a future visit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great property for the Price. - Location is terrific, right on the beach.
Appreciate an english speaking front desk staff.
Rooms are large but sparse--could use a ceiling fan
Breakfast included is a real bonus.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Mosquitos and privacy in the restroom - The hotel as a very nice please with great hotel staff, but we had 2 issues mosquitoes inside the room everywhere and the door of the bathroom was broken on purpose so you cannot close it, means no privacy.
- Gaston (10/5): Excellent value - Great for the price. Good breakfast. Several good eating spots along the beach walk. On water, but best beach was a lovely 5 minute walk around the point along the sand.
- Jim (8/5): Great hotel on the Beach - Stayed for two days. Great staff that spoke the best English we encountered in the DR. Very friendly. Included breakfast was a large buffet. It included local foods as well which was great to try and differed each morning. Beachfront hotel was perfect spot, not too crowded as some of the places down the beach, but can walk to restaurants.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice beach front hotel - Nice rooms, restaurant near the beach, excelent beach
- Kari (4/5): Disappointed - Most of the hotel was under some sort of renovation. the cafe and bar were not open. Our hot water and air conditioner did not work. The hot water got repaired. The bed was hard and uncomfortable.
- Andrew (10/5): Great Service, Great Hotel - Starting point of a ten day trip thru the D R. Everybody was great
- Jason (4/5): Unsatisfactory experience - I thought I was charged in advanced for my stay only to find out that the hotel charges the payment only in cash upon arrival for they do not have the facility to accept payments thru debit/credit cards. This totally disappointed me and angered me. The staff did not make my arrival very welcoming and never made an attempt to verify if all was good or not, and breakfast was not so great. For dinner me and my family had to give a long walk to a restaurant which was very expensive by the way and the food was not great at all. I just happened to try hard to enjoy my stay by enjoying time at the beach with my family which was close at walking distance which was very beautiful. I wish my stay were more enjoyable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, clean hotel at Terrenas - This is a small hotel located right in front of the beach, with a nice pool for kids and another one for adults. If you're looking for night life at Terrenas this is not the place to go, as this hotel is located far from the center of town, but is a perfect place for a family getaway with childten or just a solo getaway to chill out. They maintain the rooms very clean and serve a fair breakfast in the morning.
- Jose Miguel (8/5): Great stay even better price - Great place to spend the weekend, near various beach and lot of things to do. Staff was the best thing, service was amazing.
