Guest Reviews
- Lorena Rae (10/5): - Our hostess was wonderful, friendly and very helpful with tips for restaurants and places to see. The location was amazing. The next street over had wonderful food choices, great bakery shops with outdoor eating available. And walking the other way led us down to the gates to the old city, the citadel and Hotel Frontenac. Hotel Widor is an ideal spot to stay.
- Comfort (10/5): - The personal touch from the owner and her friend! Absolutely lovely. Close to shopping and restaurants and walkable even during heavy snow
- BERNARD (8/5): - Very nice, extremely clean and easy walk to city center
- Bill (10/5): - My wife and I had such a wonderful stay at Le Widor! Our hostess Sofie was so welcoming, helpful and friendly and made our stay even more special. The home was very nicely decorated, clean and had nice amenities. The location was in a great neighborhood and a short walking distance to old Quebec City. We highly recommend it!
- joseph g. (10/5): - Sophie was a perfect host and went out of her way to be accommodating. (She even allowed us to charge our electric car in her garage). The bedroom and bathroom are very large and comfortable, suitable for an extended stay. The Widor is within walking distance of Old Quebec City and in a safe residential neighborhood. We highly recommend this property.
- Daniel (10/5): A perfect visit to Quebec City. - My wife and I are in our 70's and have stayed in many different types of places in our nearly 50 years of traveling together and we both agree: the three nights we spent at Sophie's B & B was the best experience of all of them. The building is lovely, well situated for our visit (walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go - old city in one direction, art museum in the other, and Ave Cartier in between.
Sophie was a delight, the room was large, well-lighted, tastefully modern with new windows and very nice art, with a newly renovated feel all around, including the large and functional bathroom. There is a full kitchen and dining area down the hall for the use of guests where breakfast is prepared and served, if you choose to include it. We did, and it was quite wonderful. For this early anniversary trip we ate out, but normally I like to cook when we travel and this was one of the best equipped kitchens I've encountered.
Sophie is quite fluent in English, but also very happy to converse in French with my wife, who is fairly fluent and very much a Francophone. I am not, but I really enjoyed the animated conversations between them.
In short, there is not a single thing we would do to improve on our visit -- great bed, quiet with windows closed (it was March) despite being on the Grande Allee, comfortable in every way, including great towels.
We have visited QC many times, always staying in a different location, but from now on Le Widor will be our only choice.
- Robin (10/5): - This was absolutely the BEST B&B we have ever stayed at. The owner, Sophie, welcomed us so warmly. She provided us with excellent information for our stay. She spent time talking with us and getting to know us. Her breakfasts were phenomenal (home baked goodies, quiche, and delicious bread pudding!)The room was immaculate, and she has put a lot of care into updating her house. Her home is within walking distance to the Quebec City sights. This is the place to stay when visiting the area. Sophie, thank you so much for our wonderful stay. I wish we could have stayed longer😊
- sarah (10/5): - Everything nicely done.
- Debra (10/5): - This property was perfect for our week long vacation in Quebec City. Centrally located so we were able to walk almost everywhere. We chose to park and eat breakfast which are extras but totally worth it. The house is beautiful and you can feel the love and care Sofie puts into making sure her guests have everything they need. If stairs are not a problem then this is the perfect place to stay and enjoy all that the city has to offer.
- sarah (10/5): - I had a wonderful experience- Sophie, the host, was very accommodating, warm and welcoming. The room was spacious, clean, quiet. Close to many restaurants and old Quebec - highly recommend
- patrick (10/5): - It’s a lovely hotel, with comfortable beds, and an excellent location!! Sophie was very accommodating, and a wonderful hostess!! We would highly recommend her place!!!
- Caroline (10/5): Wonderful B&B - My husband and I stayed at The Widor during our visit to Quebec City. The location was perfect - quiet yet walkable to Old Quebec, beautiful Battlefields Park, and shops and restaurants along Rue Saint Jean, Ave Cartier, and the Grande Allee. Our room was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the spacious bathroom, in-room air conditioning unit, and coffee and tea in the kitchen. Sophie was warm and friendly and gave us helpful recommendations for our stay. We parked in Sophie's garage, which was convenient. We would definitely stay here again! Merci beaucoup!
- Francis (10/5): - Room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was really good with parfait and a tasty mushroom and cheese omelette. Sophie is a nice host. Parking is available in the garage across the street.

- Sharon (10/5): Three great nights in Quebec - As we left I told Sophie she should charge more. The room was big, clean and comfortable with great access to the best streets in the city. Parking in the open air lit behind is $20 per night just don't use the garage across the street which we entered at first which was more. The free walking tour that started five minutes away was one of the best we have experienced just tip the guide. It gave us all the advice we needed for a great visit in lovely Quebec.
There is not daily maid service but when the room is clean to begin you don't need it for a short stay. The shower was good and so was the bed and wifi. We enjoyed the patio on the back. Le Widor is a cut above its value price.
- Joshua (10/5): - Sophie was super awesome and always helpful! Only about a 10-15 minute walk to Vieux-Québec (Old Québec)
- stéphane (10/5): - Bonjour a tous,
- Josh (8/5): - Close to Old Quebec. Landlady was very friendly. Very much a B$B experience.
- ANJU (10/5): Short and sweet stay in Quebec - Stay in Le Widor was really good and the hostess Sophie was kind and helping. She also suggested some good sightseeing options in Quebec old city and we loved the stay. Room size was perfect and bathroom was very clean. The place was near to old city with good bar and restaurant options.
- IE (10/5): - Excellent location, large suite, friendly host, next to walking mall with local shops and restaurants
- MarieJ (10/5): - Lovely little bed and breakfast inn great location near famous Cartier Street. We stayed in the basement loft- a very spacious apartment. One word of caution—need to be able to navigate steep steps. Breakfast was delightful. Sophie is a great hostess. We would definitely stay there again. It is quaint—the opposite of a grand hotel. Felt like being in someone’s home. Much within walking distance such as the Museumnof Fine Arts.
- Ian (8/5): - The hotel is fine with a lovely manager but beware of local parking restrictions.
- Katie (10/5): Great location, fabulous host! - Our stay was fabulous. The owner was very friendly and our rooms and the common areas were very clean. Great location to walk to attractions all over the city. We would stay there again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old but very nice and cozy house. 25 minutes walk to old town, a little bit far but very close to a free walking tour. Very convenience to local restaurants and shops.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner, Sophie, was super helpful and very nice. The hotel is beautiful and very comfortable. We had the room right next to the kitchen (where Sophie cooks breakfast), but was still quiet. We had a nice hang-out one night with another couple staying at the hotel, sharing a bottle of wine on the back balcony. The small size of Le Widor is defnitely a plus. We LOVED the neighborhood--an easy walk to the Old Town, but residential and peaceful. The daily free English-language tour of Quebec starts about 4 blocks from the hotel, and it's fantastic. Some great restaurants one block further out from center on Rue Cartier, as well as some towards Old Town. Great stay!
- Nancy (10/5): - I would highly recommend this very comfortable and convenient B&B, which has big, handsomely-decorated rooms and spacious updated bathrooms. Our room had good reading lights on both sides of the bed, large closets, and extra pillows and blankets. The proprietor was very cheerful, friendly, and helpful, and gave us lots of advice about the locale and sightseeing. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, consisting of yogurt with fruit and granola, whole-grain toast, omelets with vegetables, and coffee. On the same (upper) floor as our room, there was a full kitchen available for our use at all times, with complimentary tea available. The breakfast area was pleasant and light-filled, with an outdoor porch available (we did not use this, as we were there in the winter).
The Widor’s location is very good: a short walk from Quebec’s National Art Museum and the Plains of Abraham battlefield/park along the St. Lawrence River. It’s half a block from Cartier Street, which is a trendy street lined with shops and restaurants, including a small indoor mall with coffee shop, small grocery, and other stores. The Widor is also a short couple of blocks from the revolving rooftop restaurant at the Hotel Concorde, which has spectacular views of the city and river. The Widor is within walking distance of the historic Old City, but if you’re new to Quebec and want to concentrate on the Old City, you might want to stay closer to it.
- Ruth (10/5): Great location, ... handy to shopping, restaurants - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Widor. It was clean, comfortable, quiet at night and yet centrally located. Our hostess, Sophie, made sure we had all we needed and served us a delicious and nutritious breakfast each morning. Her recommendations for places to eat turned out to be excellent.
- Rocio (10/5): Great stay - Absolutely loved my stay at Le Widor!. The place is really neat and the location quite convenient - walkable distance without being at the heart of all tourist attractions. I love boutique hotels and this is about as charming as it gets
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming Treasure - With Canadian prices much higher than prices in the USA I booked "The Widor" because of price & the pictures. Pictures can be deceiving so I had my fingers crossed the actual hotel would be as nice as the pictures shown. It was such a pleasant surprise once we got to the hotel. It was unique and charming. There were 8 other guests and everybody was thrilled to be there. It is convenient to restaurants, etc. The owner is attentive and fixes an amazing breakfast for the guests that request it. What a treasure!
- Karen (8/5): - I only had a short stay and it was a warm welcome but not enough time to get to know Sophie and all that she could offer. The entire place was very clean and well kept. Unfortunately, the no refund policy would keep me from coming back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): not very soundproof - The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. However, the door etc, were very thin and you could hear the other guests so I had some trouble sleeping without earplugs (this is the fault of the guest upstairs.) We were in the basement with a shared bathroom so this might not be a problem if you're upstairs.
The location is good if you like to walk or bike.
- Grigory K. (10/5): Nice little hotel - Perfect location, lovely host. Great time we had!
- Peter (8/5): Nice location. Cool place. - Least expensive room. Shared bathroom in the basement. Not fancy obviously but adequate. Other rooms looked great.
- Jennifer (10/5): Hotel owner is wonderful and good location - This is a bed and breakfast style hotel with only 6 rooms, each with a different design. The room is fairly spacious and has most of the amenities needed. The location of the hotel is walking distance to majority of Quebec's local attractions.
The hotel owner Sophie was really wonderful in helping with whatever was needed and very caring to her guests.
Only comment would be that there's no telephone in the room which is difficult for international visitors to be contactable from home if they do not have their own phone.
- Sam (10/5): One of the Best Places I've Stayed! - One of the best places I've ever stayed at
The room was nice, spacious, impeccably clean, and the lodge was really well maintained. The bed was also very comfortable. The location was tremendous for exploring Quebec.
Sophie was an excellent host who went out of her way to help us have an outstanding stay. She was so hospitable and worked hard to make sure we were well taken care of.
I will be east to stay next time I am in Quebec City.
- rigormootis (10/5): Comfortable - Just a wonderful little place. Sophie is so nice and she keeps the place spotless. It's a short walk into old Quebec and right around the corner for other great restaraunts. If I had one thing to critize is I wish the Wi-Fi was a bit better in my room. Otherwise it was perfect for us. We will go back with out a doubt. We hope you'll have us Sophie. Thank you
- Albert (8/5): Great Location and hospitality - Great location and Sophie is a wonderful host
Good breakfast and great value for the city
- Anna (10/5): Convenient Location - Our stay was great! Sophie (owner) was very nice and responded very quickly to our queries/requests via txt or in person. One night our room was a little cold and advised her the next day and she made sure she turned a little heat on that night.
- Mary (8/5): Close to where the locals play - Sophie was great and very personable, she made check-in easy, was expecting me and greeted me by my name! She has recently taken over the property (within 6 months) and is working on many upgrades and updates. I had great conversations with her about what to see, do and even learned a couple of french phrases.
It is walking distance to Old Quebec, near many great sights and a block away from a street full of cute stores and restaurants. I stayed in one of the basement rooms and found it clean and comfortable. I knew going in that I had shared bathroom facilities and did not have any complaints about this. I felt comfortable to explore the whole historic home and use the common areas.
- Pascale (10/5): Like at home - Like at home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and wonderful staff! - Sophie was wonderful! She was flexible and made us feel right at home in our stay at le widor. She helped us with anything we needed while we stayed there, such as calling taxis, recommending wonderful restaurants/ things to do, making sure we were safe. If you're looking for a safe and very welcoming stay in Québécois you should definitely consider Le Widor! I highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again if we ever go back!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice B&B in Quebec - Had a great holiday in Toronto and Quebec.
Niagara falls is awesome and Niagara on the lake is a quaint small town. Both are a must see! Toronto is a great city, with lots of restaurants, bars, shopping centre etc. In contrast Quebec has a nice old town with plenty of places to eat, and shops for souvenirs. The b&b in Quebec was in a nice clean quiet area, near bars, restaurants, cafe's etc.
- Bev (10/5): A lovely visit - My stay at Le Widor was delightful. The accommodations were clean and of high quality. My expectation was a shared bath, but it was private with access by my room key. How cool is that!! I had difficulty adjusting the shower water and having it stay warm. It was difficult to have the beautiful arched window over the door into the hall with no shade. While aesthetic, the hall light shown in my room all night. I thought if I turned off the hall light, I might endanger someone. It was on a main street, just a short walk to the conference hotel and about 30% of the cost. Thank you to the staff.
