Guest Reviews
- Lauren (2/5): - We chose this property for its location but quickly became disappointed when it took 30 minutes for someone to answer the door to check us in. The WiFi did not work (unable to use Netflix) and there was barely any cell reception. The beds in the room we stayed in need upgrading (coil springs). Difficult to sleep due to quality of beds. Pillows/beds and towels need upgrading. Other issues as well need addressing like broken toilet seat. The host was friendly but upgrades and maintenance are require at least for the room we stayed in. The breakfast in the morning was appreciated.
- Cathy (8/5): - Breakfast was tasty and serviced with quick hospitality. We Stayed in Room #7 which has no window, but a skylight that wouldn’t close. It felt like being trapped in a box at times. This detracted from the comfort level of this B&B.
- Joseph (4/5): - Poor experience at arrival. I rang the bells multiple times, no reply. I called, no answer. Just as we decided to leave and look for somewhere else to stay, the owner/manager came out. She said the bells were not ringing inside the property. Bathroom ridiculously small. Have never seen anything like it.
- Richard (8/5): - David was very accommodating, thank you David.
- Samuel (10/5): - The owner was really friendly and the room was well kept and comfortable to stay in.
- Jane (10/5): - A
- Earl (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. The host was accommodating and pleasant. Very friendly atmosphere as well. Would recommend for anyone
- Lynn (10/5): - Host was friendly and helpful providing suggestions and directions to the area. Breakfast was great with lots of choices and tasty food. Area was quiet but only a 20minute walk to the town centre making it easy to explore the area. We enjoyed our stay. Thanks
- Stephen (10/5): - Loved the homey atmosphere. The small breakfast plate was delicious!! We would recommend this BandB to any of our friends!!
- kristine (10/5): - The owner is very friendly and helpful. The location is nice and quiet and clean. Really enjoyed the Irish breakfast
- Rod (8/5): - Amazing service and breakfast. Some good local tips for food etc. 9/10 only issue was the shower
- Michael (8/5): - Quiet location, host was very friendly. Hearty breakfast.
- Laura (6/5): - Towels were thin and old looking room was very warm and needed a fresh look. Needed to book a time slot for breakfast
- Mike (10/5): - Great place for a 2 couples or a family of 4. Two very nice double rooms. Spacious and comfortable. Only a few minutes' walk from a railway station. Would definitely stay here again.
- Deborah (10/5): - My family had a comfortable stay. Our host was helpful with recommendations and the breakfast was great.
- Wayne (4/5): - We had bad luck with what we think was their worst room (#6). The bathroom was smaller than any cruise ship bathroom we've had. We worried about fire safety as the only window was a roof skylight. Host was friendly enough but not great. Overpriced for what we got. Breakfast was timely and good.
- Alexandra (10/5): - Lovely place!!
- Vivian (10/5): - the propperty was lovely, and stay service was great. it's like staying with friends
- Peggy (2/5): - No hot water no heat
- Jennifer (10/5): I wish we would have had more time - Everything was great. I did not realize this was a B and B when I originally booked this stay so to say it was perfect is an understatement. We arrived late after delays and 35 hours of travel and were welcomed with great hospitality.. The homemade breakfast was delicious and the bed was so comfortable. It is a short drive to all the things in Kilkenny. I would highly recommend.
- James (8/5): - Overall, the B&B was lovely, but room was small and noticeable "damp" in the bathroom.
- Oceana (10/5): - Very nice location, host, and breakfast. Enjoyed the walk to city center and avoiding parking in city center. Thank you.
- David (8/5): - Enjoyed my stay there food, room, owner very helpful. Only was it was a bit cold in the room. But maybe because I’m not use to the climate
- Randy (10/5): - Beautiful home. David let us check in early after an international flight. Breakfast was awesome. Great stay!
- Cassandra (10/5): - Great stay with a lovely breakfast included!
- Jim (4/5): Much better options - David was polite and helpful at check in. The WiFi was very poor, it was the worst by far of all our 12 stays. A cheap Amazon mesh system is a simple solution.
The room was very cold and when we mentioned this to David after returning from dinner, he said the heat would come on at 10.00pm. We waited in the cold but the heat never came on. We retired under the thinnest of duvets we had experienced and had to put on additional clothes during the night to keep warm.
When the heat came on in the morning, the main radiator in the room was only marginally warmer than body temperature after two hours.
We cannot recommend this place.
- janelle (8/5): - David is a lovely host
- KAREN and PETER (10/5): - A lovely place to stay on the edge of town, but east drive to everything we needed. Yes, would recommend to anyone.
- Scott (4/5): - Ok but very small room.
- Amy (10/5): - Quiet, convenient location, helpful and friendly staff, comfortable room and very good food.
- Justin (10/5): - Excellent
- Nga (8/5): - The room was okay but the host David was above and beyond! Really appreciated him and his excellent service!
- Marie (10/5): - Lovely environement
Great size room for 2 adults and 2 teenagers
Warm welcome
Very comfortable room
- Sharon (10/5): - Launard House was perfect for our stay in Kilkenny. We had a comfortable room. The breakfast selection was great. We enjoyed talking to the host.
- John (10/5): - We loved our stay here
- Jamie (10/5): - Very clean establishment, super helpful, friendly and welcoming staff.
- roberta (10/5): - Wonderful stay.
- Jacky (8/5): - Comfy B&B.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Lovely host and great breakfast. Loud people below us watching TV late and slamming doors made it hard to sleep.
- Rick (8/5): - Had a good overnight stay at the BnB; basic accommodations but clean and functional.
- Christine (10/5): - Very nice and close the stores and bars for walking.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Friendly staff, close to town.
- Carolyn (8/5): - First off, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Really made us feel welcome in the space.
The breakfast was great and we had lots of options on the menu to choose from.
The room itself was small but the beds were comfortable and the natural light was nice.
The bathroom was a bit of a problem — The shower was very small and there was a restriction on how long a shower we could take because it was solar-powered hot water. The water never really got hot, just warm, unfortunately. As well, the toilet in the room flushed strangely and we struggled to figure out how to get it to work at all. That was a challenge.
The free WiFi did not work the entire first evening/night we arrived on any of our devices (including other guests we spoke to over breakfast) and was consistently spotty and dropping in and out the whole time we were there. Very slow when connected and often fell off. Not a good place if you won't have data or need WiFi for work.
The b&b is a bit far away from the city which made walkability a bit of a challenge if you're not interested in a 30 minute walk just to get there. Would consider driving from accommodation or picking a more centralized hotel next time.
- Andrew (10/5): - It was a very nice experience! Thank you
- DEBBIE (8/5): - My friend and I had a nice stay, we did feel the room was a little bit cold, we reported this and we were given a blow heater so that we could use it as and when needed. This was a very satisfactory solution
- Rebecca (10/5): - Clean property, delicious breakfast, friendly host
- Adele (10/5): - Very sweet bed & breakfast in Kilkenny. We had a lovely stay here and would return.
- Maureen P. (10/5): - Both the rooms and dining room were lovely and beautifully decorated. The host, David, was very welcoming and he also served a great breakfast.
- Geoff (4/5): - The property is very tired problems with hot water availability and heat in the rooms. Compared to many other b&b in Ireland the breakfast were very basic with no fruit , yogurt or cereals. Numerous notes of what you should not do were posted and did not create a welcoming atmosphere. Pictures are deceiving as is the “join us for a drink in our lounge”. Good location basic accommodation.
- Pamela (4/5): - The room was very smal, the listed ensuite bed seemed very small, very old and had large wooden corners on the two bottom ends which being a small room you had difficulty not hurting yourselves on.The ensuite was extremely old and needs a complete new suite.Thought the price of one nights stay is far too expensive for what is on offer.Would not return.
- Richard (10/5): - Great location and wonderful host. Choice of any breakfast you want. Host went way out of way to help me with mechanical problem with my rental car. Highly recommend the B&B.
- Thomas (10/5): Super!! - Really nice place. Great Host. Very quiet and relaxing and comfortable
- Michelle (8/5): - Host was very welcoming and offered great suggestions for dining and activities!
- Lindsay (10/5): - It was a nice retreat at the end of the day. I enjoyed the breakfast served.
- nancy (4/5): - Great location but property is old and worn. Surprised shower head kept falling out of shower arm while jerryrigged with zip ties. Not a positive experience. Rates out of range for lack of updates.
- Tim (10/5): - A very nice stay with the host David. Location is 15 minute walk to town. Nice area and furnishings. A fantastic Full Irish Breakfast too boot.
- Suzanne (8/5): - David is a wonderful host. He is very friendly and had lots of helpful information about Kilkenny. Breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend staying at Launard House. I would offer a few heads up. The house is in need of some touch-up. The water heater is limited, so showers need to be short. We had problems getting the toilet to flush. They do have washcloths, which was very unusual, and there were plenty of towels in the bathroom. Plus, there was a top sheet on the bed, which was also unusual and very much appreciated.
- Jeanette (10/5): - Like a home away from home l. David had good suggestions for what to do in the area and he has a very warm welcome when you arrive.
- Suzanne (8/5): - We had a pretty good night stay here. Host was friendly, breakfast was included and delicious good and the location was easy to find and safe. Kilkenny is a great little town to explore. Lots of fun. But the property could use some attention. Walls are super thin - could hear conversation in next room. Only window was a skylight, shower was super tiny and did not drain and the room itself - lighting, towels, carpeting - could use an update.
- Leanne (10/5): - Great host. Amazing breakfast. A distance into town but quite walkable
- Brian (10/5): - Very nice B&B and a wonderful host.
- Richard (10/5): - We had a very nice stay and the breakfast was great.
- Kevin (10/5): - The host was friendly and welcoming! Breakfast was delicious. The host was helpful with learning about the town.
The room was a little cool morning!
- Lauren (10/5): - It included a nice room, with a very good breakfast as well. The host was very friendly also.
- Austin (8/5): Loved it - The owner was very friendly and helpful. Nice place to stay and I fully recommend it
- Edgar (10/5): - Nice B&B with an extremely helpful host
- Jean (6/5): Adequate for a good nights rest and brekkie - Bathroom clean. Linen clean. Furnished to character and lovely. In General just tired and in need of freshen up in room - Carpet stained and dirty looking in room, kids complained no way to shut out the light as skylight. Other than that meets the bill.
- Olav (10/5): - Delicious breakfast
- Deirdre (10/5): - Property was a lovely, staff was very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. The bed arrangement was perfect for my family (2 adults, 2 kids).
- natasha (10/5): - Amazing staff who offered great suggestions for places to eat and things to do. The only downside was the hard bed.
- Victor (10/5): - Friendly and comprehensive service.
- Denise (8/5): - Nice people
Breakfast was good, enough
Property definitely needs pickup outside
Our room was very small and confining with sloped walls that we kept bumping into.
Big walk into town.
Always had parking on site.
- Sonia (8/5): - Was great location in relation to city center
- Scott Raymond (10/5): - The host was very nice and informative on the area tourist sites.
We would stay there again.
- Charles (10/5): - The owner was amazing. Got us a taxi right away into town late night after a very long trip. Cooked us an amazing Irish breakfast and gave us tips on what to do on our journey. Cool little place to stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My husband and I greatly enjoyed our one-night stay at the Launard House. Despite the ongoing pandemic, we felt very comfortable at the house. Our room was clean and comfortable and our host was so welcoming! We really enjoyed the breakfast he made for us. Downtown was an easy fifteen-minute walk away, but we also had no trouble finding parking in a downtown garage as well. I highly recommend staying at Laundard House and won't hesitate to do it again the next time we are in Kilkenny!
- Daniel (10/5): Great service and a quiet neighborhood. - A great stay. A very good location, quiet with ease of access to downtown.
I messed up in the morning where my phone changed time because if NS daylight saving time. I was scheduled for breakfast at 8:30am. I thought I was waiting in dining area until 9am, to leave and head downtown to get a bite to eat. I found out at 9:20 that it was actually only 8:20. I went back to the B&B to apologize. He laughed and told me to have a seat and he would prepare breakfast ... I am really glad I went back. The breakfast was excellent!
- ulises (10/5): We want to return - We really enjoyed our stay here and regret we did not stay longer. The owner was very friendly, helpful and just an all-round good guy to hang out with. The breakfast is planned out the night prior but cooked fresh in the morning (delicious). He has a menu option to choose from (pancakes, Irish breakfast and porridge to name a few). Room was clean and very comfortable. Great shower. Just an great experience really. It is about a 15 minute walk to the main part of town so I recommend driving... or the owner has placed a metal tag on each key ring with the number to the local taxi service (very thoughtful). I want to return.
- HelenKenney (4/5): - We would not recommend this location as we were disappointed in it and wouldn't wish others to have the same experience. Location, cleanliness, amenities, helpfulness were not what we have enjoyed in most places we have stayed when travelling internationally.
- Doug (10/5): Can't go wrong here - We stayed here for one night as we traveled through Kilkenny and couldn't be happier. The proprietor was very nice and friendly, offered great selections for dining and things to do. Check in and Check out was a piece of cake. We would stay here again if traveling through Kilkenny in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Liked everything, hosts were very friendly, food was good.
- A. M. (6/5): Quaint Guesthouse Close to Much - This was a comfortable and charming place to spend the night, and we enjoyed the added surprise of a full (delicious!) breakfast being included. The room and en suite bath were scrupulously clean. It was nice to have access to some extra pillows as well. All of the attractions of Kilkenny are super close, making it possible to park your car the whole time you are in town and simply walk. Unfortunately we did have trouble actually finding the house, as the street listed as the address apparently is the name of more than one street. Once we finally arrived, we mentioned this to the owner and he seemed to know that this has been a problem for many others. Recommend communicating this to future guests so that they don't get lost like we did!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff did a excellent job above and beyond normal requirements.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very convenient location easy access to city center and the Castle
- Verified traveler (10/5): Homely and Lovely - A pleasant surprise that it is in a quiet neighborhood but within walking distance to the town centre. Nice breakfast.
- Grace (10/5): Excellent B & B Experience - We greatly enjoyed our stay. Our host was hospitable, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. Everything was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was top notch.
- Shari (10/5): Enjoyed our stay - Lovely little B&B with friendly and helpful hosts. Convenient drive to downtown Kilkenny. Pleasant room. Nice breakfast
- Isa (10/5): Lovely B&B - Very nice B&B. Very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The host was very gracious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great visit here. Yes, you can walk to the town center, but your keyfob has the phone number of the taxi, so you can stay dry. The coffee at breakfast was wonderful and our host delightful. I would visit Kilkenny again just to stay at Launard house.
- Andrea (8/5): Spot on - Very warm welcome from the owners. We were at a wedding next door, great location 5 min walk to hotel. Breakfast was grand
- vickie p. (10/5): Great - Property was very comfortable and the owners were very helpful.
- Russ (10/5): - Good location and clean facility. Welcomed and looked after well.
